Another Side Of The Story
You know, before this, I always thought that I was alone, but of course, there's nothing that a little magic can't fix.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Trent High School: Onyx's POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Random thoughts crossed my head as I walked down the hallways of my high school. I was heading towards the main entrance to continue my journey home, when I heard a voice calling me from behind:
"Onyx! Wait up!" She called. Not this again....
"For the last time Victory, fuck off!" I shouted as I ran out the door, letting the cold wind of winter inside and headed towards a nearby forest instead of my home. This girl, Victory, she was my ex. A very clingy ex. You know what she did? She left me for another guy, (his name was Oden by the way,) but Oden, being a smart guy, left the bitch out in the cold due to her reputation. And now, here she was again, asking me to give her another chance.
"How many times do I have to say that I'm sorry?!" She yelled as she chased me down the road.
"None! I already told you, I am not going out with you again!" I kept running for a long while, the concrete road was now completely gone, replaced by a thin layer of snow that covered the grass below my feet. Ugh... It's so fucking cold.... I though to myself as I shivered in response to the low temperature around me. On the bright side, Victory was long gone, for now at least...
The Everfree forest was one of my favorite places to be in, so I went there almost every day, dispite the fact that no one else dared to approach it, but that's what made it special. On some occasions, I would map out some of the forest, and I would keep all of the maps inside of my backpack. Oh shit, that's right! I thought as I took off my backpack and took out a thin folder that contained all of the maps I had drawn.
"Let's see.... Okay, I think I am on the top right side of the forest.... no wait, lower left?" I talked to myself quietly as I went over map after map, but in the end, I couldn't find my location. "Well shit... I better start walking then." I resumed to move as some snow slowly started to fall down from above. Snow? This is starting to get worse by the second... I walked and walked and walked some more, but I saw nothing other than trees and snow. The snowfall started to become heavy, making it hard to see my surroundings, but for just a second, I swore I saw a dim orange light in the distance, but just as suddenly as it showed up, it was gone. A light? Is there someone else here? Curiosity killed the cat, but I didn't care. I tried to run in the direction of the light, but there wasn't any sign of it anywhere.
"Is someone out there?!" I yelled trough the snow, making my voice sound more like a whisper than anything. Then, I heard a soft chime ring answer my call. Suddenly, I was surrounded by three different colored candle flames: A blue light that made me feel sad just by looking at it, A green light that made me feel sick with even just a glance, and a red light, which somehow made me even more afraid than I already was when I looked at it. What is this, some kind of RPG trial?
I stood in the cold, wondering what choice I would make:
Choose Your Destiny
The Blue Flame
I chose the blue flame, thinking that maybe being sad was better than being afraid or sick. I followed the light, causing all three flames to dissapear at once. Suddenly, I was standing in the middle of a brick road in the middle of the forest, snow was nowhere to be seen. Then, the blue flame came back. "Come with me, for now, it is time to test your emotional strenght." I heard it whisper in my ear.
"Whoa, what the hell!?" I asked, clearly surprised. I mean, you don't usually hear fire talking to you, so I was pretty shocked. The flame didn't answer, but instead started floating down the road. "Hey! Wait up!" I caught up to it slightly after I said that. The sun went down almost instantly, but no moon came out. Everything was now dark, the blue flame being the only source of light.
"Prepare yourself, for the trial has started." It spoke. I kept walking close behind the flame, there was an eerie silence filling the air around me. The blue flame stopped for a few seconds, and then it started to float away from the road. I followed it carefully, making sure to keep a safe distance.
A few seconds into the walk, I noticed some human-like figures floating in the air, making me become more and more nervous as time went by. We approached the figures slowly, making the darkness dissapear, leaving behind something far worse than shadows behind. I looked up at the floating figure in disbelief, tears started to run down my cheeks. I was looking straight into the lifeless eyes of my Mother, she was not floating, but instead being held up by a long noose that was hung from the tall trees. The blue flame suddenly grew in size tremendously, lighting up the whole world. For every tree in the forest, there was another person hung from it. My mom, my dad, my grandparents, my entire family, all of my friends. Every single one of them, dead. I fell to my knees and cried in silence, still staring at everyone around me, when I saw something different: there was a tree with an empty noose, my name written on it in golden letters.
"It's time to decide Onyx: Join your friends, or keep going alone." The flame told me. I stood up and stared directly at the flame. I wiped the tears off my eyes and spoke:
"You know, I've played RPG games before, and I know damn well that this is a goddamn illusion. Lead the way you blue shit!" I said as the flame turned into a blue door.
"Congratulations Onyx, you have beaten the trial of sadness. You may now go back to your world." The door spoke as it opened itself, revealing nothing but darkness. I took a step foward into the depths of the door, and then I felt my body fall into a dark pit.
The Red Flame
I chose the red flame, thinking that maybe being afriad of something would be better than being sad or sick. I followed the light, causing all three flames to dissapear at once. Suddenly, I was standing in the middle of a brick road in the middle of the forest, snow was nowhere to be seen. Then, the red flame came back. "Come with me, for now, it is time to test your courage." I heard it whisper in my ear.
"Whoa, what the hell!?" I asked, clearly surprised. I mean, you don't usually hear fire talking to you, so I was pretty shocked. The flame didn't answer, but instead started floating down the road. "Hey! Wait up!" I caught up to it slightly after I said that. The sun went down almost instantly, but no moon came out. Everything was now dark, the red flame being the only source of light.
"Prepare yourself, for the trial has started." It spoke. I kept walking close behind the flame, there was an eerie silence filling the air around me. The red flame stopped for a few seconds, and then it started to float away from the road. I followed it carefully, making sure to keep a safe distance.
A few seconds into the walk, I heard some ravens sing above my head, giving me a horrid sense of dread. Suddenly, their dark singing was replaced by the roar of a chainsaw coming up behind me. I turned around in shock and saw that a tall, fat man with a pig mask was holding up a chainsaw above my head.
"AH!!!" I screamed as I jumped to the side, barely missing the attack from the man. He looked at me straight in the eye and laughed deeply and started walking towards me. "Fuck off!" I shouted as I started to run away. Of course, just like Victoria, he chased after me. Unlike Victory however, he was holding a fucking chainsaw!
"Get back here you little piggy!" He said as he swung at me with the weapond in his hands.
"It's time to decide Onyx: Run for eternity, or face your fears." The flame told me. I stopped running and looked at the flame. I popped my knuckles and spoke:
"You know, I've played RPG games before, and I know damn well that this is a goddamn illusion. Let's fight you fat shit!" I said as the man dissipated into the air, and the red flame tunred into a door.
"Congratulations Onyx, you have beaten the trial of fear. You may now go back to your world." The door spoke as it opened itself, revealing nothing but darkness. I took a step foward into the depths of the door, and then I felt my body fall into a dark pit.
The Green Flame
I chose the green flame, thinking that maybe being disgusted by something would be better than being afraid or sad. I followed the light, causing all three flames to dissapear at once. Suddenly, I was standing in the middle of a brick road in the middle of the forest, snow was nowhere to be seen. Then, the green flame came back. "Come with me, for now, it is time to test the power of your stomach." I heard it whisper in my ear.
"Whoa, what the hell!?" I asked, clearly surprised. I mean, you don't usually hear fire talking to you, so I was pretty shocked. The flame didn't answer, but instead started floating down the road. "Hey! Wait up!" I caught up to it slightly after I said that. The sun went down almost instantly, but no moon came out. Everything was now dark, the green flame being the only source of light.
"Prepare yourself, for the trial has started." It spoke. I kept walking close behind the flame, there was an eerie silence filling the air around me. The green flame stopped for a few seconds, and then it started to float away from the road. I followed it carefully, making sure to keep a safe distance.
A few seconds into the walk, I caught a foul scent coming from the shadows around me. Suddenly, the green flame grew in size, lighting up my surroundings. I took a moment to analyze the landscape before me. There was naked bodies of my my family and friends, lifeless and rotting, some even being eaten by hungry vultures. Guts were scattered all over the ground, the ground was full of small blood puddles, and the air was filled with such a strong scent of rot, that my eyes started to water. It was hard not to puke at the disgusting sight before me, but I somehow managed to keep my stomach intact. I was able to hear the vultures chew the meat of my relatives, making me cringe horribly in response. This hell-like landscape was designed to make me lose all sense of sanity, but then I remembered something important, and the green fire talked to me.
"It's time to decide Onyx: Spend your entire life in dwelling in the rot, or leave all of your relatives behind, only to be devoured." The flame told me. I rubbed the tears from my eyes and looked at the flame. I coughed my knuckles and spoke:
"You know, I've played RPG games before, and I know damn well that this is a goddamn illusion. Let's get out of here already!" I said as the green flame tunred into a door.
"Congratulations Onyx, you have beaten the trial of Disgust. You may now go back to your world." The door spoke as it opened itself, revealing nothing but darkness. I took a step foward into the depths of the door, and then I felt my body fall into a dark pit.
End Of Trials.
"AGH!!!" I yelled in pain coming from my chest. My eyes opened in shock, revealing a black lady in front of me. Was that trial a dream? I thought in confusion.
"Do not move yet child, for the pain is far from mild." I heard the woman say. She was wearing like six golden chains on her neck and around three golden bracelets on each hand. She was wearing a long, white dress, slightly transparent, allowing me to see her beautiful figure, as well as her undergarments, causing me blush slightly. I was now laying down on a wool bed inside of a weird room with bottles full of different liquids and plants on shelves. There was also a huge calduron in the middle of the room.
"W-who are you?" I asked as I winced from the devastating pain.
"My name is Zecora you see, but I wonder, who might you be?" She answered as she rubbed a light grey substance on my chest, causing me to wince again. Why is she rhyming?
"The name's Onyx, it's really nice to meet you, but could you tell me where I am?" I asked as I tried to forget the horrible things that I had just experienced.
"I'll anwser yor question if it'll put you at ease, but first, try not to move much please." She answered in rhyme once again as she kept rubbing the weird ointment on my chest. "We are in a fearful place, many will agree, inside of my hut, in the depths of the Everfree."
"We're in the Everfree? I've never seen your home before, and I've been here before many times." I told her in confusion.
"Yes, I have seen you around, but you've always walked the through the outer bounds." She said as she started to put some bandages over my chest. "Altough, I have a question for you, what kind of trials has this forest made you pursue?" We talked for around an hour, I explained why I was in the forest in the first place and told her about the flame that I chose.
"Hmm, congratulations! Not many have survived that fate, but you should start head home, for it's getting late." She pointed at an owl clock she had on the wall, which read 8:37 PM.
Zecora helped me up from her bed and took me to the front door of her hut. When she opened the door, I saw that it was pitch black outside, and the snow was still pouring down. She offered to let me stay instead, but I declined her offer, so she walked with me to the edge of the forest. Once the concrete road was under our feet, she stopped walking.
"Zecora? Don't you want to come with me to eat dinner at my house?" I asked as I turned back and faced the lady that saved me from the cold.
"I'm afraid I can't leave my home that is the forest, but please make sure dine well and get some rest." She told me as she grabbed my hand and put a black pendant on my palm. "I have a feeling you will need this gem, please, take it as gift from a friend." I looked at the gem closely and realized it was an onyx gem, matching my name. I thanked her for everything she had given me with a hug, and let her dissapear into the depths of the forest.
I walked down the streets, crossing a few stop signs and finally reaching my home. I walked through the front door and was greeted by my worried parents. I simply smiled at them and told them I was hanging out with some friends, making their worry dissapear. I went into my room and locked the door, dropping my backpack on the floor. I jumped on my bed, and started to reflect on the adventures of my day. Questions ran back and forth through my head: What were those flames? Why haven't I ever heard of Zecora before? Why won't Victoria stop bugging me? Sometimes, I feel like my questions will never be answered. After some time of thinking, I headed out of my room, had a nice dinner, and went to sleep straight after. Luckly, it was Friday, so I didn't have to worry about school tomorrow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~Gemstone Household: Onyx's POV ~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Harder! Harder!" Victory yelled as my length pushed through her insides. Her tounge was lolling out of the side of her mouth as I pumped her with incredible strength.
"Victory, you smell so good..." I whispered. "You smell like.... Like pancakes?" I asked as I rolled off my bed and awoke from my dreamland. I sat up on the floor and rubbed my face in response to the pain. "Ugh.... I hate mornings..." I said to myself as I stood up and streched. I put on some black jeans and a Monstercat T-shirt. I headed out of my room and walked towards the kitchen.
"Good morning sweetie!" My mom told me as she handed me a plate with heart-shaped pancakes on top.
"Mornin' mom, what's up?" I asked her as I started to eat the pancakes using a fork and knife. Mmmm.... These are so good....
"Well, that Victory girl showed up again, asking to see you, but I just told her to scram." She told me as she put a few bacon strips on the side of my plate.
"Thanks. Well, what are the plans for today?" I asked as I took a bite out of the crunchy bacon she had just given me.
"Your dad and I are heading to the store in a bit, want anything?" She asked as she kept making pancakes.
"Could you get me like a Powerade or something?" I finished the first pancake.
"Fruit Punch right?" She turned off the stove and put all of the pancakes she made on a plate. The pile was made up of around fifteen or so pancakes.
"You got it! Thanks again." I told her as I finished eating and washed my plate in the sink.
"Alright, see ya later Onyx!" She gave me a kiss on the cheek as she headed out front door with my dad by her side. The usual start to a regular day. I thought as I headed back into my room. I started up my computer, making it show the Windows logo in the main screen. I just sat in my chair, looking out my window and into the neighbor's yard. There was a child that was playing with a small chihuahua puppy. I then picked up my phone and then I thought Where were you when I needed you yesterday? I put it back down as I saw my computer had already booted up completely.
"Hmm.... What should I do..." I said to myself as I clicked on the Firefox icon on my desktop. "Maybe some Youtube would do me good." I signed into Youtube and checked my feed, nothing standing out to my interest. I then went into the main page and checked my recommendations. "Lullaby for a Princess Animation? What is a pony video doing in my feed?" I asked myself as I tried to remember the last time I watched anything related to ponies. "Oh.... Right..." I remembered that a few days prior, my young niece wanted to watch some My Little Pony episodes, so I put them on for her. I stared at the thumbnail of the video for a few seconds. Don't do something you'll regret. I felt the pony's eyes stare at me. Don't do it! My mouse appoached the video link. Stahp! It had already been done. I clicked the video, and it loaded almost instantly. I put on my headphones and listened to the sweet lullaby that came from the video.
After it was over, I couldn't help but click the like button. The animation was flawless, and the song was so full of emotion that it just showed how much the people cared for the show. You see, there was a group out there on the internet who called themselves, 'Bronies.' The group itself was mainly composed of male teenagers and young adults that like the show My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. I, of course, wasn't a brony myself, but after watching that video, I felt like I wanted to become one. Personally, I didn't mind the bronies at all, I mean, we all like different things, you know? In fact, I remember that at one point I had a friend that was really into the show and tried to get me to join, but I politely declined his offer.
I kept browsing the online for a while, investigating more and more about the show and it's characters, when suddenly I heard a voice.
"Onyx! We're home!" My mom called from the kitchen.
"I'll be there in a sec mom!" I said as I got up and went to greet them and help them organize the groceries. I got my Powerade, thanked my mom for it, and went back into my room. As I headed towards my desk, I remembered something important: Zecora's Pendant!
"I headed over to my laundry basket and pulled out my pants from yesterday. I searched franticaly through the pockets, looking for the gift, and there it was, success! I pulled out the pendant and threw the pants back into the basket. I looked it over in detail:

The pendant was being held together by a silver chain. I thought it looked pretty cool, so I put it around my neck. I wondered what it's origin's were, so I took a picture of it and went on 4chan. I made a post that asked if anyone could tell me what it was. After the post was online, I went on Youtube again and kept going over the Brony fandom.
A few hours passed, I grew bored of researching, so I decided to check back on the pendant post. Apparently, the views on it immideately sky-rocketed it and it was being bumped by an insane amount of people. I looked over the comments on it, the first ones being "Where did you get that?!" and "That's a fake!" I kept looking through all of the comments until I came across one that actually answered my question. The post read:
That, dear Anon, is an Onyx Sky Pendant, it is said to have mysterious powers that allow the owner to travel between dimensions! XD Try it out on a mirror, see if it works.
As any person would think, that was complete bullshit, but after what happened yesterday, I was willing to believe anything.
I sneaked into the kitchen and got a long knife and put it in my pocket, I put on my backpack, loaded it with some fireworks that I had in my closet as well as my Powerade bottle. Finally, I grabbed some spare matches from my bedroom drawer and put on some sunglasses. At that moment, I felt like the terminator. I pulled out a handheld mirror from another drawer in my desk and looked at my reflection. I can't believe I'm actually doing this... I stared at it for a few more seconds, and then I decided to poke it. I tapped the surface of the mirror and saw it ripple like if it was made of water.
"Yup, fuck that." I said as I threw the mirror back into it's drawer. "There is no way in hell that this is for real." I just looked at my hands, trying to understand why any of this was even happening to me. After I finally regained some strength, I took out the mirror, and tapped it once again, except this time, I took a picture of the ripple and posted a reply on 4chan. A few minutes after, I got a reply from the same person:
WOAH!!! Those are some mad photoshop skills kid!
You could get a career with that you know?
Of course, they had no right to believe me. I turned off my computer, and headed out of my room and into the bathroom. There it was, a full body mirror, staring back at me. With all of my gear ready, I prayed to god that I wouldn't die instantly, and took a single deep breath. The time had come. I closed my eyes and jumped straight into the mirror, expecting the worst. Not only did the mirror look like water, but it also felt like water. I was now completely surrounded in the water-like substance, my eyes still closed. I was holding my breath, thinking that I would drown if I tried to breathe. I finally opened my eyes and saw that I was in a dark room, with two completely white doors, one behind me, and one in front of me. I ran out of air fairly quickly, so I decided to head back into the door behind me, and as expected, I was back in my bathroom. I caught my breath, still in disbelief that I could travel through mirrors.
I looked at my hand once more, and turned it into a fist. I took a few steps back to get a fast start and dashed back into the mirror, my only goal being getting to the other side of that mirror. I swam through the liquid for a few seconds until I was inches away from the door of light. I reached my hand trough the door and pulled myself out of the mirror. I was now standing in my bathroom...? What? No, that wasn't what happened, I had definately gone through the other doorway right? Yes, I did! I noticed some differences in the bathroom quickly. The shampoo in the bathtub had different colors, as well as the female model was replaced by a... pony...
Realization struck me very hard, I knew exactly where I was. Equestria. I headed over to the bottles and read the tags out loud. "Mane And Shoulders Body Wash. For Stallions." That was all of the proof I needed. I had my knife ready and my sunglasses were over my eyes. I was ready for the world.
I headed out of the bathroom slowly, checking my surroundings for any signs of life. The house layout was still the same, with the only difference being that the hallways were slightly wider than before. When I saw that no one was home, I headed into the kitchen. Everything was the same, the smell of pancakes was still lingering in the air, due the stack of pancakes that was standing tall and proud on the counter in front of me. I considered what to do next: I could look out the window and try to find landmarks to find out how much had changed, or I could investigate the house a bit more to see if I could find anything interesting.
Choose Your Destiny:
Look Out The Window
I decided to look out the window in the living room, just to see if the landscape outside was any different compared to Earth. I approached the blindfolds that covered the outside, and took a quick peek at the world. I noticed that all of the concrete roads where replaced by dirt ones, most of the houses remained the same, however, the tiled rooftops were replaced with straw. All of the shops around were very colorful in comparison to the ones on Earth, as well as the ponies seemed to be happy all of the time. I was able to draw a few connections between the ponies in this world and the humans from back at home, some looking almost identical to their opposite form.
I kept analyzing the details of the town, but then I saw two ponies approach the lawn of the house that I was currently in, holding some plastic bags with magic. There was a male unicorn and a female pegasus, which immidieately reminded me of my mom and dad, so I assumed that's what they looked like as ponies. Afraid of being spotted by the couple, I decided to turn back from the window and head towards my room.

Investigate The House
I decided to look investigate the house, just to see if there was anything worthwhile laying around. I headed towards the basement of the house, in hopes of finding some kind of tool for later use. I turned on the lights of room and inspected various parts of the basement, but all I found was a short hammer and some kind of quill. All of the guns and swords my dad used to have on Earth were nowhere to be found. I was unable to find anything else that was remotely useful, so I decided to go to my Dad's office.
As I took the last step out of the basement, I noticed something move past the corner of my eye. I turned around to see what it was, and I ended up seeing two ponies approaching the house from a nearby window. The ponies I saw were holding some plastic bags with magic. There was a male unicorn and a female pegasus, which immediately reminded me of my mom and dad, so I assumed that's what they looked like as ponies. Afraid of being spotted by the couple, I decided to turn back from the window and head towards my room instead of my Dad's office.

"Crap..." I whispered as I rushed toward my room. I had just a few seconds left before my parents got hope, so I had to act fast. I barged into my room and saw a dark gray unicorn with greenish legs. There was a computer in front of him with the website 4Hoof open. He turned around and looked me in eyes. Is that me?
"What the-" Was all the pony was able to say before I tackled him and pinned him down in the ground. I put one hand on his mouth, and held up the knife I had in my pocket to his throat with my other hand.
"Shh shh shh... Don't move or I'll slice." I said with a dark smile on my face. The pony whimpered in response to my threat. Of course, he still struggled a bit.
"Onyx! We're home!" I heard my mom say from the kitchen. They're here...
"MMPH HMMPH MPH!!!" The pony tried to scream for help, so I simply held the knife a bit tighter against his throat.
"I'll be there in a sec Mom!" I said, trying to replay the scene exactly like it was on Earth. I lowered my voice a bit and whispered in the pony's ear. "Now listen here Onyx, I really don't want to hurt you or your family, I just need to talk to you." The pony relaxed a bit when I said those words, but was still scared. "Look, I'm gonna let go of you, but only if you promise not to make a sound, okay?"
"Mmh hmm." He nodded, and just like that, I let him go. Just as he promised, he didn't say anything. I put the knife back into my pocket, and stood up from the floor.
"Alright, now, go help your mom, and come straight back. Don't say a word about me, and you'll be fine." I sat down on a nearby bed and motioned him to the door. He nodded and left the room. A few minutes later, he came back, holding some apple cider cup with his magic.
"Hey, uhh... Do you want some? I swear I didn't do anything to it." He asked me, trying to be polite.
"Nah, I'm good. Please, take a seat, I'm afraid we need to have a long conversation." I grabbed the desk chair and set it directly in front of me. Onyx nodded and sat down, taking a small sip from his cider cup. Oh boy... This should be interesting...
