A not so perfect winter wrap up
Prologue
Load Full StoryNext ChapterThe silent hum of an engine was the only noise audible in the small space, aside from the silent tapping of footsteps against the grated metal floor. The silent hum and nothing else enough to make a man go insane. Sweat dropped from the mans face, falling to the ground with the tiniest,
'Splosh'
The man continued walking, his shivering causing swear to pour from his face faster. Peering around the corner, nothing. The man sighed and ducked back behind the wall, breathing heavily. No words were spoken, nothing, silence.
The hum continued just as the man continued down the corridor. Stopping only inches away from the door, it began to beep silently. Both the red and green flashing, and with a silent hiss the door opened. Stepping through without any hesitation the man let a long sigh out closing his eyes.
It was hard to tell if he was crying from the exponential amount of sweat falling from his brow and his face. Suddenly a loud thump along with the coiling of the tail sounded from somewhere near, the man gasped, and then a pause. It felt like hours until the man heard the long hiss and the thumping of footsteps.
"Shit..." He whispered, his face contorting back and forth from worry to aggravation, the smell he gave off from weeks without showering should've given away his position to the ominous killer, but it seemed that thing liked to play hide and seek. Cat and mouse, ant and boot. The man knew if it tried hard enough he would be dead.
And yet why didn't it? Why did the creature enjoy playing games, it knew he was defenseless. And it seemed to enjoy watching him suffer... He ducked under a table as the thumping got louder. And the familiar sound of a door hissing open was audible, and now the thumping was even louder.
It hissed, as if saying,
'I know your in here'
Before thumping into the room, heavy footsteps grating against metal was all that was heard in the room. And this time the creature would find the man, and kill him.
The man let out a sharp breath as the creature thumped past, it's drool dropping and hitting the floor almost rhythmically.
Splish
Splosh
Splish
Then the man screamed as the creature stopped in front of the table and looked under it, it was learning. The man tried to back away, and managed to un-balance the creature with a sold kick that ended in the most disturbing screech.
The man ran like hell, his footsteps alerting everyone of his presence. And suddenly another blood curdling cry was heard as the creature charged, this was known by the thumping of its feet as its legs worked like Pistons. The man cried out in agony as he tripped and fell on his face.
It was getting closer...
The man stood up and began running towards the control console. His intention to strand the beast on a planet near by.
Closer...
The man gasped and turned around, he was almost to the room and was ready to get his sweet revenge.
Closer...
The man ran into the room and grabbed the steer mechanism, the ship violently jerked left and right, up and down. And then it locked on the planet nearby. And then the man was impaled, blood dropped to the floor.
It was to late, the creature was doomed and seemed to realize it. And it did the only thing a Xenomorph would do, wail like a banshee.
It was a happy day in Ponyville as snow rained down. Winter Wrap up was coming soon and Everypony was ready for the warmer weather. A certain purple mare sat in her house, well more like castle. A warm fire a blaze, and she had a book out.
Twilight, was her name, Princess of Friendship. Defeated Nightmare Moon with her friends, Reformed Discord with her friends, she had done much with her friends. But making sure everything was in check for the Winter Wrap up wasn't one of them.
She had finished hours earlier and had been ready since. The eerie silence of the room other than the crackle of the fire almost reminiscent of what joy WOULD sound like after what would happen. Grumbling to herself, she stood and smiled as she walked to get some ice water. She was thirsty, and needed a drink.
Grabbing a cup and filling it with ice and of course water, she took a sip and let out a loud,
"Ahhh..." As her nerves reset in contact of the cool liquid hitting her throat and mouth. She smiled remembering that shooting starts were supposed to be visible in little under and hour.
Heading to a balcony she pulled out a telescope and began observing the skies. Nothing,
"Where are they?" Asked Twilight starting to get cold from the frigid air. She was ready to walk away, when a faint flaming ball began to appear in the sky.
She quickly recovered and shot back to observing the sky, it was amazing and it was heading,
"The EverFree?" Twilight asked shocked, from what she had heard nothing was supposed to hit down. She let out a gasp as it got closer, and closer, until finally with a distant,
BOOM
That rattled the ground, it had landed,
"Spike, Get the Girls..."
The explosion hadn't helped anything, it only sent the flaming piece of wreckage another fifty plus feet. The snow was quick to help kill the blaze, and then all was silent. The snow continued raining down, the wind rustled the trees faintly. It seemed like it was over. And then a cry and wail of agony echoed through the wreck and into the forest.
The crickets stopped, so did the frogs, and toads, it was dead silence. And suddenly a piece of the steaming metal was shot from the giant crash. It landed some feet away, the steam becoming more intense from the snow it landed in as the burning metal cooled. A hiss responded to the steam leaving the area.
Then a large six fingered hand grabbed the small opening, then another. And then the creature emerged, it's carapace already healing from the wounds it received in the unexpected explosion. It once again hissed and scampered into the forest quickly. The Nightmare had begun...
