An Apple tree for my youth
Ray Tess P.O.V.
Manehattan, years ago
I, Ray Tess, woke up from my nap. Okay it wasn't really a nap, I had just fallen asleep reading my favorite book "Rescue from Midnight castle". Suddenly, I heard a voice call out:
"C'mon Ray, or were gonna be late for the Oranges dinner party!".
It was my big sister Wysteria. "Coming!" I quickly responded. The Oranges were hosting a dinner party to celebrate the arrival of their niece, Applejack, who had just moved in with them from Ponyville. Because it was a formal occasion, I slipped on a black tuxedo with a red shirt underneath. Wysteria was wearing a short pink dress, that ended right before her cutie mark. On the way there I heard a voice in my head say 'I hope the new girl is cute'
When we got there, I realized that I didn't like any of the fancy foods they were serving. Wysteria had prepared for this however, and had packed me a salad. I wasn't really listening to the conversation all that much, so I didn't realize that the new girl was talking.
"-until the roosters wake you up in the morning" she said (or, at least, that was the part of the sentence that I heard). She talked with a thick accent, but not the kind you would expect a farmgirl to have. <10 bits says she's faking it> 'you're on, bud'.
"And what is a rooster?" said one of the (for lack of a better word) snobs.
They all stared at her strangely.
Then, I saved the day by blurting out "A rooster is a type of bird that let's out a large yell when the sun rises. Sort of like a natural alarm clock.".
A couple of the snobs just stared at me. Applejack gave me a smile. I gave her a big, toothy grin in return. It was sort of an awkward grin, considering I had a tooth missing on the top row and a really sharp tooth on the bottom row. 'You realize you look like an idiot, right?'
After dinner, when I was about to leave, she stopped me.
"Hello there mister... uh" she started
"Ray Tess, and you can stop with the fake accent now." I replied. She then started talking in the western accent I expected her to have in the first place "How did you... oh, yer good"
"Applejack" I finished. "Your Aunt and Uncle wrote it in the party invitations, as well as introduced you at the beggining of the party."
"A smarty pants huh, and ya'll didn't even look like ya were paying any attention."
"I sorta wasn't, but hey, I'm full of surprises."
"Follow me"
"Hold on a second." I told her, then turned to Wysteria. "Wysteria, can I go with Applejack?" I asked.
"'Kay lil' bro, you can go with your little marefriend".
I flinched when she said that, and I gave her an evil stare. However, I did see Applejack blushing out of the corner of my eye. 'Woo, 10 points' 'And I thought I told you NEVAH!!!'
She led me to a room and opened the door. Something clicked in my brain and I realized that this was her room. 'WHOA NELLY!' 'Aww, hate is such a strong word buddy!'.
I just gave her a blank stare.
She caught on to what I was thinking "Oh, no, it's nothing like that.".
"phew" I said, just before we burst out laughing.
Applejack was sitting at the windowsill, from where she could see Sweet apple acres far off in the distance.
I trotted up beside her "Nice view".
"I've only been here a day and I already miss home" she said, then looked down in sadness.
Just then, I noticed something colorful in the skies " Well, there's your calling card".
She looked up and saw what I was talking about "A rainbow".
"And it leads to sweet apple acres" I added.
"You mean it leads home" she corrected. I smiled , but then she said " No, ah can't. I didn't have many friends back in ponyville, Ah can get used to this place, ah just need time."
'She totally likes you'
I knew that Manehattan wasn't where she truly belonged, so I gave her a stern look and said "Applejack, your destiny is back at sweet apple acres, just as mine is, well, time will tell, I guess, but the point is that your place in this world is back at the farm. It's where you belong.".
I saw a tear form in her eye "Ya'll're right. Ah'll leave tomorrow morning, but ya'll can stay 'till then".
"I'll have to ask Wysteria"
I was pretty lucky that Applejack had a sleeping bag for me to sleep in.
as I fell asleep a song started playing in my head:
"Somewhere, over the rainbow..."
Applejack woke me up late. She had already told her aunt and uncle that she was leaving because she didn't fit in, and she had her bag of stuff over her shoulder (Author's note: or whatever you would call the shoulder of a pony). We all walked outside to bid her farewell She walked over to her aunt and uncle first, and gave them both some kisses. Then she walked over to Wysteria and shook her hoof. Finally, she walked over to me, and before I kew it, I was in a bear hug. "Uummm... you can let go know" I stated 'Wink wink, nudge nudge'
"Well, goodbye then, take care" she said.
"I was going to say that!" Blurted Wysteria.
Applejack giggled, then started to walk off.
I had trouble getting to sleep that night. But When I did, I had the strangest dream.
I was in a white void, no correct that, there was a white void, But I wasn't there I heard a voice, but there was nopony in sight. the voice said:
"One day, I shall come back, yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all of your beliefs, and prove to me, that I am not wrong in mine."
Then I woke up, but I knew what the dream meant. I knew my destiny now.
Manehattan, present day
I woke up, and smiled, for today was the day I was moving to ponyville.
