The Sun's Glare
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe castle was dark, only illuminated by the moonlight shining through the open drapes in the long hallways, the light bouncing dimly to show a long shadow of the clouds passing over the moon. Fearless, the young unicorn filly, equipped with a single book she had "borrowed" from Celestia's personal library, scurried across the newly waxed floor and slipped and slid across the tile until scooting herself onto the red rug. She tripped and fell over lightly, gently nudging her head on the ground, ending up with her flank in the air.
Blushing, Twilight scrunched her nose and pushed herself back up, still holding the book with her magic. She ran ahead until getting to a single intricate hourglass-shaped vase, made of amethyst and adored with golden encrusted rings and a cloud of glittering small diamonds within the rings. Filling the vase were white roses. The vase of roses sat in the middle of the wall at the end of this long hallway. A mural of a village of flower ponies was behind the oak table which held the vase which held the flowering roses.
"All I gotta do is get back to my room and--"
It happened again. Another surge. Twilight teleported unwillingly onto the newly waxed floor and slid straight to the oak table. Unable to stop herself, and having dropped the book upon teleportation, the filly only saw the worse in what was going to now happen inevitably lest her body decided to have another random magic surge. But it didn't. And she was currently "screwed."
Hitting her head on the leg of the oak table, Twilight stopped and found herself flailing around in pain, repeatedly hitting the table in her raving fit of utter discomfort. The filly unicorn began to whimper, but surely this pain was something she could handle. Just as long as nothing else happened, and she got the book so she could sneak back to her room, everything would be fine.
"Twilight? Is that you in there?" Celestia's voice called out to her.
Well that kills everything.
Twilight knew there was no way she could run from here back to her room faster than Celestia.
