It was the hottest week of the Summer. And the heat had nothing to do with the matter. I guess I should start off with a little introduction of sorts. My name is Flash Sentry, and I am a royal guard for the Crystal Empire, despite the best wishes of my superiors, who'd rather have my cockiness end up throwing me into a crowd of rabid diamond dogs. But, superiors are like that. They always want that one who never went by the book, and killed himself because of it. It keeps other troops in line. But, I guess when I finally solve a case, I;m going to be top dog. And this case would put me in history.
Everyone had known of Filthy Rich. Business tycoon, huge public figure, a politician of business that almost all were less than. Back when. he did a couple publicity photos with his sweet little daughter, Diamond Tiara. It might have been cute back then, but now, strung up on the Celestia statue in Canterlot Square, was little miss Diamond Tiara. The theory told through the guards was that some sicko saw the publicity photos, and killed Diamond Tiara as some kind of non-exploitation message. It didn't have much proof, but it was a start. All that I knew was I wanted to investigate. And wouldn't you know that I was sent smack dab into Canterlot with a small team of Crystal guards, on a mission to find the Exploitation Killer.
An entire nation turned to panic. Fillys and foals, sent to their rooms, locked by fourteen different locks, schools cancelled, youth activities shut down. Not a single mare in Equestria would let their babies get taken.
And I wanted to find him. Find the sicko who killed a kid, shut in the kids, made the kids frightened, disheartened, sad. I wanted to find him and kill him.
The train ride to Canterlot was a thoughtful one. I kept trying to think of reasons as to why I shouldn't kill a stallion, but all conclusions were that he killed a filly and he must pay. As I arrived at the station, I immediately walked over to the scene. It was a ghost town. Most had abandoned the town or barricaded themselves inside. I tried to shrug it off.
There it was, the scene. The guards were taking down the filly, whose eyes were obviously mortified, and her neck stomped in by the powerful hooves of a stallion. It was no doubt. A stallion murdered this filly. I took a seat on a bench, and watched it play out. All four princesses stopped by to question the scene with the small team of guards, including the Captain of the Guard himself, Shining Armor.
Soon enough, all the people were gone, including the body, though the caution tape was still up. I hopped the tape, and looked around the statue a bit. He noticed a small coin. Upon further inspection, it had an insignia on it, that of the nightclub, Le Fleur. This was my first lead towards beating in a filly killer, and I was going to take it.
