Chapters Chapter 1 : Notable Customer
Roseluck had just opened her shop, and it was the beginning of the week. For the last 3 weeks, their was a certain customer who came by today and bought her best red and blue roses. This customer was a cyan unicorn with with navy blue mane and white highlights, similar to Vinyl Scratch's, except white replacing light blue, and light blue replacing white. Today, though, it was different. The Grand Galloping Gala was tomorrow, but that slipped her mind. Why was she so focused on this certain customer? Colgate came by in a matter of 10 minutes, give or take 30 seconds. This time, though, she brought a vase on her back with 6 beautiful roses, 3 blue, 3 red. She also had 2 golden slits of paper in her teeth, and walked up to the counter. She dropped the paper, revealing 2 tickets to the Gala.
"Colgate! Are those really tickets to THE Grand Galloping Gala?" Rose was stunned.
"Of course. You of all people should know that I keep everything real. Recall week 2?" The second week Colgate came, they had discussed how Colgate made sure everything was top notch, especially her dental care. It was the same with Rose and her flowers.
"How did you get 2?! Or even 1 at all?!"
"I had a couple of bits lying around, and Tickets were being sold near my place."
"But why 2?" Rose probably knew the answer.
"Do you really think I'd leave you here?"
"We haven't exactly known each other long, or, well. Why me of all ponies?" Now she was genuinely confused.
"Because you don't call me a freak for being obsessed with my teeth."
"You aren't obsessed! You just care more than anypony else."
"I know! Thats what I always say, but nopony gets me like you." So, Colgate was an outcast for being TOO clean?! Whatever, time to change the subject.
"Did you plan this? Because I recognize my flowers when I see them." She gestured to the vase on Colgate's back, and the cyan mare blushed.
"Erm, no. I just-" Awkward pause while she thought of an excuse. "had them lying around, and thought it would be nice to bring them." Rose could sometimes tell when somepony lied, and this was one of those times.
"Yeah, right. Suuuure."
"Hey! No, really. I did."
"Whatever you say. Should we go find a place in Canterlot for the day?"
"Sure. Why not? It's closer to the Gala, after all." Colgate sometimes points out the obvious, but she didn't want to ruin the mood. They left the store, Roseluck Closing up first, and got a train to canterlot. Rose noticed how Colgate brought the vase with her flowers. Heh, there would probably be a visit to Rarity, who was going as well, so she could design something to go with one of the blue roses. Why was Rose so ok with this? It was obviously a date, even though that went unstated, but in 7th grade Rose had discovered that she didn't have a gender preference when it came to these things. It could be a stallion or mare, as she dated 2 of each back in high school. It was a nice ride of them both getting to know each other better, and once they arrived, like she suspected, Colgate said
"I'ma go see Rarity before the gala, k?"
"I'm coming. Lets go." They got a cab to 'Le Rarities', a store that only sold clothes made by Rarity herself. They went in, and within 10 minutes they were down 50 bits, but they had perfect clothes for such an occasion. Now was the matter of finding a hotel relatively close to the castle, which wasn't so hard, considering everypony else comes to prepare for the gala next train that gets there. They got a room with 2 beds, a kitchen, bathroom, and living room. It was pretty nice for a hotel. Now, they had a while before the day ended.
"What now?" asked Colgate? "Actually, wait. I'ma go brush my teeth while we think it over." She actually had 2 tubes of premium toothpaste, dental floss, and a mirror in her saddlebag. Wow.
"Hey, can I see that mirror please?" She asked as she pulled out a brush.
"Sure." Colgate handed the mirror to Rose, and she set it on a table as she brushed her mane.
"Thanks." Colgate nodded, and went into the bathroom. No need to close it for brushing your teeth, so she didn't. Colgate almost took as long with her teeth brushing and flossing as Rose did with her mane. Rose spoke up again.
"We could go grab a meal, if it's okay with your teeth, that is." She teased.
"Hey, these teeth are practically metal with the condition I keep them in. And sure, sounds like a nice idea. Where to?"
"I hear that there's this really nice place in the castle exterior. We could try there." Colgate nodded, and they went on their way. Within a matter of minutes, they had found a cab and arrived. The Royal Diner. They entered, and instantly smelled the scent of flowers specially bred for taste, opposed to look. Rose made a mental note 'meet their florist when you get a chance'. They were seated, and before they knew it, ordering.
"I'll have the Icy Delight, please." Figures Colgate would go for the closest thing to minty in the menu.
"I'l have the Spring Blossom, please." And, of course, she goes for the most flowery thing on the menu. Once the dishes arrived, Colgate's being two sandwiches of icy flowers, and Rose's being an array of many different flowers, they were too busy eating to talk. It was so good! No wonder the place was royal, it was probably a casual snack stop for royalty. Once they were done, they met each other's gaze. They held the eye contact foe a few seconds, slowly drifting closer together, but right before they meet,
"You brush your teeth, right?"
"Ugh, yes. Now just shut up and kiss me." With that, their lips met, and the surrounding world melt away. She felt warm inside, with the exception of the nice coolness of Colgate's breath in her mouth. Without even noticing, they had their hooves around eachother, but neither of them cared about the outside world anymore. It felt like an eternity, but in reality, was suprisingly actually fairly long. At first, it was just lips, but Rose pushed on her partner's lips with her tongue until they opened. It was very minty, but she couldn't expect any less. Her tounge brushed against Colgate's, and she broke the kiss.
"Holy sweet Celestia! That was minty as buck!" She barely managed to keep her voice down low enough to where the other patrons couldn't hear. She received a sly grin in return.
"Did you expect any less?"
"No, but that was crazy!" She glanced around, for no apparent reason, and continued. "Lets hurry up and pay the bill so we can go." Colgate paid the initial price of 30 bits, and Rose tipped 5 bits. Generous, but the food was almost as good as something else she would partake of at what was now tonight. They quickly found a cab, tipped for the stallion to hurry up, and quickly trotted up to their room. Once the room opened, Colgate ran to and jumped onto the bed. Rose locked the door, and quickly followed. She quickly landed on top of Colgate, and ventured back to the icy world of Colgate's mouth. She wanted to taste mint for a week after this. Her tongue plunged into Colgate's freezing mouth, as their tongues wrestled within both of their mouths, the minty freshness filling Rose's mouth as Colgate's tongue rubbed against all of the walls and teeth of her mouth numerous times, not to mention that her tongue tasted so fresh that it felt like a mint in itself. She ended up regretfully breaking the kiss for need of oxygen, and her nose not capable of keeping up with the oxygen requirements of her now rapidly pounding heart. Luckily, as they made out they rolled around a lot in the bed, and she ended it with her underneath, and swallowed all of the saliva she could get her mouth on as she broke off. As they both panted from the experience, meeting each other's gaze once again, Colgate's eyes took on their normal half-open position, and felt a hoof on her now heated nether reigons. She slapped it away.
"I might love the inside of your mouth, but i'm not a whore. Maybe after second date."
"Awww." Colgate let out, disappointed. So close, and Rose almost went with it. She had a surprise for Colgate, though. It had to wait until after the gala, though. It wouldn't work, otherwise.
"I'm tired anyways. Lets just go to sleep, and I might let you get some of this rose tomorrow, okay?" Colgate responded with a kiss, then minty words.
"You are the biggest tease in the history of Equestria, you know that?"
"Quit your whining and use that mouth for better things." With that, Rose kissed the mare, and fell asleep after a few minutes, mouths still shared.
Roseluck woke up the morning of the gala, disappointed to not see Colgate next to her. She was in the same hotel, so it wasn't a wet dream. However, the blankets and slight smell said it might have been both. At the moment she realized, she blushed fiercely. She rolled over under the blankets, just to realize Colgatate had the same incident. Hey, at least she's really interested, she thought as she got up, to see Colgate coming out of the bathroom, slightly wet mane and distant but strong scent of the mint she had no idea she loved so much until last night. She rubbed her eyes with her hoof as she spoke.
"Uh, Mornin' Colgate. You done in there?"
"All yours." Presumably by instinct, she shook herself, and blushed.
"Eh, don't worry about it. We both had a similar dream, I rolled around in bed before I got up." This made Colgate blush 10 times harder, but Rose wasn't awake enough to blush whatsoever. She made her way into the shower, and forgot to turn on the warm water knob. The freezing cold water came down and hit her. This completely woke her up instantly, and before last night she might have yelled something like 'BUCKING COLD WATER!' but, she quickly grew to love the cold after last night. After a second, she reached back to turn the heat knob up enough to where she would avoid getting a cold, but still kept the heat low. After about 5 minutes, she got out of the shower and dried herself to an extent, when she noticed Colgate's things still by the sink. Buck it, why not. She picked up the floss, and began. It was slightly minty, but nothing compared to Colgate's tongue. After a few minutes, got the surprisingly large amount of food out of her teeth, and picked up the mouthwash. She poured some into the cap/cup, drank that, and it was a bit more minty. She was beginning to like this. She sloshed it around her mouth for a generously long time, and then, regretfully, spat it out. All that was left was the toothbrush. She couldn't possibly take her lover's premium toothpaste, so she just put everything into Colgate's saddlebag.
"Aww, you aren't gonna brush?" Rose jumped slightly, then turned.
"I didn't want to use your expensive toothpaste."
"Just do it, come on. You'll love it, I promise. The stuff's enchanted. Makes your teeth stronger."
"Your sure I can?" Rose was slightly skeptical at first, but Colgate used her magic to prepare her toothbrush as she walked up next to Rose, then put it in her hoof.
"Brush or your grounded, miss." Colgate said playfully, barely keeping a straight face.
"Okay, whatever you say, mother." She put emphasis on mother, and broke Colgate's straight face. Success.
"Just do it." Colgate laughed. Rose began brushing, and disregarded the universe around her. This was definitely where Colgate got her mouth from. The minty bristles melted a wonderful cream along her teeth, and onto her tongue. The rich white substance filled her mouth with the wonderful taste she loved so dearly. Once she finished making sure her teeth were coated, she scrubbed the rest onto her tongue. Afterwards, she swallowed the paste. She pulled the brush out, and asked a question that she assumed was obvious, but she was mistaken.
"Should I rinse this?"
"Why? I never do." She was taken aback for a second. She just swallowed toothpaste from Colgates toothbrush, which she had never rinsed. This didn't bother her at all, after a second. They were marefirends now, after all. And Rose couldn't get enough of that mouth, buck it.
"Cool. So I just toss it in the saddlebag?"
"Actually, you see that plastic bag?" There was a thin, long plastic bag, and rose took the hint. She put it in the bag, sealed it, and put it in the saddlebag.
"Col, we should probably dress for the gala."
"Yeah. Come on, lets." They went to the door, where they had left the clothes, and got into them. Col had a tux with one of the white/blue roses he kept for the purpose. Rose had a black dress, and adorned 2 red roses. One for the left pocket in the front, similar to Col, and one in her hair. Luckily, her hair was trained to fix itself after a shower, and they both were ready for the Gala. They found a cab, and within minutes they arrived at the castle. Colgate gave the 2 tickets to the guard, and he opened the gates with his magic. They entered, and Rose soon saw an old friend. She did a lot of crazy stuff when she was younger, and she was one of them. Vinyl Scratch was setting up her equipment. Luckily, after the one-time drunk fling that, for some reason, they recorded, they kept it from making things awkward between them. She waved to the DJ, Who waved back, then gestured for a grey mare to follow her.
"Hey, Rose. Long time no see, huh? Still selling flowers, I assume."
"Only the best ones, obviously. Are you still the queen of the turntables I knew?"
"Duh! Obviously yes."
"Now you know how I feel." Vinyl gave a playful punch to her shoulder in response, didn't hurt at all.
"Hey, meet Octavia. My marefriend. Best cellist in Equestria."
"I wouldn't quite go there." Said the grey mare in a high-class Canterlot accent.
"Hey, what a coincidence! Meet my new marefriend, Colgate." She gestured to the blue unicorn to her left.
"Love your mane." Vinyl said, looking at Colgate.
"Heh, wonder why." She said, obviously looking at Vinyl's mane.
"Naturally." Octavia spoke again. "You just love anything that reminds you of you."
"Hey! You can't argue with that mane." She gestured Col's mane.
"Because it looks just like yours?"
"Well, mainly, yes, but,-"
"Point made."
"Heh, my mane isn't the best part, ya know." Colgate spoke, intentionally putting extra breath into her words.
"Damn! That breath!" Vinyl turned back to Rose. "I can't comment or I get it with a cello, but you get the gist, right?" Rose nodded. "Anyway, I have to get back to hooking up the set, later!" She said, walking off.
"How far you thing before one of them proposes?" Asked Colgate.
"I think Vinyl's gonna pop the question tonight." Responded Rose, smirking. "And I can tell, Octavia's gonna say yes."
"If you think about it, we're not too far off, ya know?"
"We'll cross the bridge when we get to it. Until the, just kiss me." They shared an intimate kiss, and somehow Colgate's tongue was more minty now than the toothpaste the moment she used it. It was her cutie mark, after all. They idly mingled until the party started. Rose and Col found eachother in time to begin dancing. What she heard was the most beautiful thing she had ever heard, it was a mix of classical, and slow dubstep. They fit perfectly together, just like they were made for eachother, and Rose had no idea what to think. She just drifted off into dance with the mare across from her, who now had a blue rose in her teeth. It lasted for what felt like an eternity of eternities, but the music came to an end. That elite accent came out of the speakers from Octavia.
"Everypony, This will be our last bit, as it is getting late and the Gala is soon to be over, so I hope you enjoy." This new tempo was, well, romantic. It made the setting that much better, and she found herself making out with her marefriend, and the music finished. Then, Vinyl's voice was coming from the speakers.
"Everypony, The Gala is coming to a close, but I have an announcement before everypony leaves. Octavia." Rose knew exactly what was going to happen now." Octavia, my love, Will you marry me?" There were a few gasps from the audience, but Rose and Col just smiled to eachother, knowing the answer.
"Yes!" There was an uproar of cheering and stomping for the newly engaged. Vinyl and Octavia ran to eachother on the stage, kissing when they met. Rose and Col just grinned, and when Vinyl's skimming eyes came across Rose in the audience, she winked and got out the spare roses from being hidden in her tail, and threw them onto the stage. Other ponies followed suit, and soon the couple were showered in assorted flowers. Rose then looked back to Colgate, and they kissed.
They had just arrived back at the apartment from the gala, and Rose had a promise to keep.
"Hey, Col. You know, the night's not over for us." She said once they were both out of the expensive clothing, which enticed them both to the bed. Once again, Colgate laid down first.
Rose pounced atop Colgate, the minty taste in her mouth was fading, and she was going to fix that. She thrust her lips into Col's, as well as her tongue. She quickly reclaimed the fresh snowstorm in her mouth, and took a trick from a certain drunk tape she had long since hidden in her store somewhere in ponyville. She broke the kiss, and moved slightly up.
"What are you-" She quickly silenced herself with a moan "UUH!" as Rose began sucking on Colgate's horn. It began to glow blue, and she kept going. It picked up its own minty taste from Colgate's leaking magic, which was growing more minty and strong with each movement of the horn in or out of her mouth.
"Uh, wha- wh-ooh," Rose could tell that if Col tried to talk, it would only be moans. She sped up the pace, wanting Col to release her magic plasma, as she had an idea. The minty mare was reduced to constant moans, which constantly grew louder, until it was nearly a shout, and Rose got her wish of a mouth full of minty magic liquid. She swallowed most of it, but left some for mischievous plan. She came back down to head level with Col, and leaned in for a kiss. Once Col returned the kiss, she got a mouth full of her own magic juice.
"Uh, is that what I taste like up there?"
"Yep. Pretty much."
"I envy you."
"You won't for long." She responded, slowly crawling down the bed, the remaining plasma around her mouth giving off a slight blue glow. She reached what she had been looking for quickly, Colgate's lips. Lower lips. She leaned in, and gave a slight lick, to test the water.
"oh," was the response she got. She wasn't going to envy anypony soon. She inched closer, and decided to plunge right in. She put her hooves on Col's ass, and dug into her now sopping pussy. Even Congate's pussy tasted minty. Why did her mind flash back to the mischievous smile she got when she used Col's toothbrush, and when she swallowed it, she said 'I figured you would'. No, no bucking way. No bucking way in Tartarus. This is when her 'practice' would come in handy. "We are having a serious talk about this tomorrow." And with that, she began again, and pushed her over the edge. Once again, holding some in her mouth, letting the rest either being drinken or splashed against her face, it mixing with the magic plasma on her cheeks, and cooling. She had fun messing with her for the night, but one last thing. She carried herself back up to head level, and took advantage of her marefriend's blissful state, and connected their lips. The next morning, she awoke before the exhausted mare, and knew exactly what she had to do. She got up, her will for mischeif overcoming her fatigue, and grabbed the toothbrush, and stuck it somewhere Col would be able to relate to, moaned, then put it back and went back to bed.
It was an uneventful morning, except for when Colgate brushed her teeth. Payback. She knew exactly what was on that toothbrush last morning, even if Col didn't remember admitting it. Once Col was finished with the bathroom, and Rose finished with her hair, they switched. Rose took a decent shower, dried to the extent possible with a towel and fur. After, she decided to mouthwash first, so as to keep the minty flavor for as long as she could before she had to make out with Col for it. She poured it, rinsed, and spat it out. Then, she quickly flossed, getting barely anything, as she hardly ate yesterday. Well, food, anyway. Lastly, was the brush. When she was inside her mother, she stirred in her own juices for 9 months, who cares of she brushes with a toothbrush that she stuck up her clit to prank her marefriend. Joke still not on her, because she truly didn't care. Once she had the toothpaste on the brush, she began sinking the creamy minty goodness into all corners of her mouth, then all over her tongue. Once the rich white creamy goodness went down her throat, she finished by swallowing as much as she could, and putting the brush back in its bag, and into the pack. She then came back out, carrying said pack and handing it to Col, who took it via magic. Success! Colgate was using her magic now, and all it took was a bit of sucking out of her.
"Ready to go?" asked Col, saddling up.
"Ready as i'll ever be."
"Hey, Col. Just know, nopony has ever been as nice as you. That's why last night happened. At this point, I don't think I could live without you." She received a teary hug, and it was held for a while. Then, they parted and were on their way. She was used to carrying around a big wooden cart full of flowers, so she took the heavy stuff. She had the clothes, and bits. She didn't mind, as long as they got home. They began their way to the station, and caught a cab. They paid the stallion once he stopped at the station, and went on their way. They waited for a few minuted in silence, watching life go around them. There was the past to there left, as there were two teens,one filly and one colt, with love in their eyes, but obviously didn't see it in one another. There was another couple waiting for the train, talking and laughing and the occasional kiss. To the right, there were a couple with a little filly running around, and there was another Ponyville resident, Applejack. She was there with Granny smith, big mac, and applebloom. She took her mind off the last one, realizing that Granny Smith was the only parent there, even though two of them were old enough. She felt it wasn't healthy to think that far ahead, and looked back to Colgate, who was thinking the same. Their fore hooves now joined together, having both looked at the apple family. They traded glances, and just decided to kiss. Once the kiss broke, the train arrived, and they boarded. Once on the train, they just watched the scenery go by. They passed by a mountain range, forest, then a large orchard. They were here. After a moment, the train began to slow, and then stop. They unloaded, and traded a glance. Lyra and Bon-Bon, their best friends, were there. How do they, explain?
"Hey! They're back!" Yelled lyra. when the groups met, both Bon-Bon and Colgate, at the same time.
"We have a announcement." This left the group of four stunned, but Rose, being the most elegant, recovered first.
"You two first."
"Okay, while you two were gone, we kinda started,-" Lyra trailed off
"Dating" Bon-Bon finished, slightly blushing
"Ohmygosh! You wont believe it, but us too!" Col gushed, glad that it was good news for everyone involved.
"Ohmygosh! We could double-date!" Gushed Lyra in response, while Bon-Bon and Rose traded a worried look, both knowing about what.
"Wait, I hate to be the one to say this, but, who's going to tell the spa ponies?" Rose hated to be the one to say.
"Yeah, what of they get jealous?" Worried Bon-Bon. "They're always jealous if somepony else has something that they don't.
"You guys didn't hear?" Said the only friendly dragon known to pony kind. "Rarity, the spa ponies, and Fabric Bit left for Manehattan for a month. There's like a fashionista festival or something right after the gala. I forget what it's called. Anyway, good luck with love, I guess." That was a relief.
"No wonder I hadn't seen them around." Lyra, who was slow with the information coming.
"Maybe they might get together, or something like that." Said Col, with a hopeful tone.
"You think they might?" Asked Rose, hoping she was right.
"Well, they are perfect for each other, after all." Added Bon-Bon
"Wouldn't it be cute?" That wasn't any of the four, it was Pinkie.
"Pinkie?!" Col made it clear that she was startled.
"You miss me? Oh! I should have made a welcome back party from the gala! I hope you enjoyed it, because when I went I didn't because-" Rose tuned her out by this point, her survival instincts coming back. She started walking back to her shop, gesturing for them to follow. Once inside and away from Pinkie, they decided to gush some more.
"You know, I never knew I liked that minty flavor before that one dinner, then I couldn't get enough."
"Did you have any idea that you actually taste like roses smell?"
"Never. I do?"
"Very much"
"Never knew I had a sweet tooth before last night" Lyra and Bon-Bon's turn to gush. "Now I don't know how I ever lived without hard candy."
"Life just throws stuff in your face and says 'make something of this', and when you do, you get what we have" Bon-Bon was never one for philosophy, but here they were.
"Well, I'm sure you two need your alone time, if you two only started last night. We just got hungry the day and one thing led to another. I barely managed to save it when miss teeth over here nearly ruined the moment."
"Hey! You can't say that, because now your the same."
"Ah. You got me there." Rose, knowing when to give up, let this one go.
"Yeah, anyways. Later, guys see ya tomorrow." Said Lyra, as she gave them both a hug, followed by Bon-Bon, and they left.
"You know, I owe you quite a bit if I recall, and you are the one who saved toe moment, so, you wanna go to bed?"
"Heh, couldn't have said it better myself.
Author's Note
Not sure if you noticed, but I do purposely try to make this hard to narrate. I purposely make it impossible to keep a straight voice, because If your reading for an audience, they need to know your not all work and no play, am I right? It's also extremely hilarious to try to read without smiling. Before anyone asks, NO! I WILL NEVER CHANGE THE TOOTHBRUSH SCENES! They're my excuse to me immature.
Chapter 4 : The Plot Twist
Normal morning. Colgate already done with the bathroom, there was the normal showering off her shame, and same sexual thoughts about her brushing her teeth. She finished with her hair and decided today she should just work the shop, and it hit her. She grabbed mint daisy seeds and ice rose seeds, crushed them together in the magic bowl, and buried the scraps. Soon, that will hold Equestria's first Mint Roses. She found Colgate in the river scrubbing her mane, and last night hit her like a brick. She quickly ran back, got some Naturadye weed liquid, and hurried back.
"Here." She poured some of the liquid on the spot, scrubbed it, and it came off easy. "I have a plant for anything and everything. From getting love juices out of a mane, to possible revival, to curing common diseases, to burning the world to a crisp." Col chuckled. "No, really. I have a firemite root somewhere." Col shut up, knowing what happened last time somepony planted one. Rose sat next to Col, who was now sitting by the riverside.
"Hey, Rose. Do you ever think that some day might be our last."
"Col, every day. But, it isn't, so I just enjoy life while it lasts.
"Soon, I go back to my dentist job. I won't be around much. It's amazing how attached we've become in just 4 short days, ya know? I wish we could just go somewhere and be alone, and would know when we would die in advance." Rose absolutely hated to do this, but in this moment, Col needed it. She gave a firm slap to the unicorn, and grabbed the now stunned, more from it being Rose who slapped her than the impact, mare and turned her head to meet her gaze.
"You listen to me! Don't you talk like that ever! Life isn't just some experience to drudge through and hope for some good parts." Tears were now forming in her eyes. "You have to take control of your life, you hear me?! We're responsible for eachother, and eachother is all we have!" Tears were now streaming down her face fiercely. "Don't you give up on me! I WONT LET YOU!" Both of them had tears practically raining from their eyes. All Rose could do was hold her marefriend close to her as they sobbed on each other. They continued this for nearly hours, until Rose pulls away slightly, and went into a deep kiss. Colgate completely returned the kiss, giving the lovely minty taste, and a slight coppery taste, to her. "Sorry, but I cant let you lose your grip on reality. If it helps any, even your blood tastes minty." The sun was beginning to set, and they just sat and watched it.
"Ya know, I make some good bits as a dentist. Next break I get, I might be able to take us anywhere."
"Ponies pay good bits for romance, and all romance needs what I've got." She gave a grin
"If only, though." By now, the moon was starting to rise.
"If only what? Do I need to hit you back to reality again?"
"No. It's just-" Col sighed.
"Come on. We both know that nopony else is here."
"You'll sock me again if I say it"
"I'll sock you if you don't."
"Your becoming like that Octavia pony we met at the gala, you know."
"And your practically a certain DJ in your personality. But don't you change the subject on me."
"You really wanna know?"
Spit it out already." Rose was to the point where if Colgate didn't explain, she would flip.
"Okay give me at least 30 seconds afterwards to explain, alright?" Rose wondered what could possibly be so shocking.
"Okay. 30 seconds, I promise."
"And by the way, I don't have you under a spell." Col said, as a green flame enveloped her. That's why she had Rose promise 30 seconds.
"You'r a- 30 seconds. Go."
"The real Colgate died in a fire about a year ago, when the dental clinic burnt down. She knew me for me, a changeling, not as somepony else. She also taught me about her job. I learnt a lot about her, so when she died, I took the opening. I snuck to the edge of the ashes as a singed version of her, and was found duly. I've tried not to starve for as long as I could. Then I met you. I bought flowers, and got each of them thrown in my face. After the third week, I was coming back to return them when I noticed the Gala tickets for sale, and the idea passed my mind, since I already had the flowers." The 30 seconds had passed by now, but Rose didn't stop her. It was too much to take in at once, and was too dazed to stop the changeling. "I just got attached to you because your the only pony who actually cared. Sure, lust isn't so bad, but It makes me wanna stay when somepony actually cares about more than that." Rose was absolutely overflowing with emotions. She felt betrayed, lied to, angry, but still her love didn't completely give out. The fact that she had actually revealed herself was the only thing holding her hoof to the ground, and not the changeling's face. After a long moment of silence, Rose spoke up again with a shaky voice.
"Give me a moment to process this." And with that, she left.
Chapter 5 : Sorting It Out
Rose had just walked back from the river, and it was starting to get late. She still felt flustered, confused, angry, betrayed, more confused, and exhausted. Col was a changeling ever since they had met. The real Colgate by now was Celestia-knows what. She collapsed on the bed, and spent what seemed like an eternity just processing this information. Then, a slight squeak of the door hinges. She snapped her head to the door, her current look was of confusion, and saw Colgate.
"Drop the fur." Rose decided to stop trying, and just roll with it. It still took a bit of willpower not to do something violent.
"I know it's probably a lot to take in. I'm sorry it took this long to tell you."
"I feel like everything I knew in life had just been scorched, drowned, shattered, frozen, and incinerated. All I know any more is plants." Rose was completely emotionless. No tone or twinge of emotion in her face, body language, or voice. She got up, and went to the kitchen, not being able to face the changeling she had fallen in love with. The worst, most confusing part, was that she was even more in love with her now. What was her life right now? There was one thing her gaze passed over, it had helped her through her teen years, her parents' death, her first love shooting her down. Her tub of Aurora. A nearly impossible to grow volatile narcotic wonderdrug with healing abilities. She opened the tub, grabbed one of the flowers, and ate it. She instantly felt lighter. Things looked nicer, the fact that Col was a changeling didn't bother her as much, no more inhibitions, life felt better. Nothing hurt. One moment, she was broken, the next, she was content. She tipsily stumbled back to the changeling that was now in her living room.
"Heeeeyy, there." She put her arm around the rough surface that was the changeling's neck. "You know, I- I still, like, I still think your a nice pony but, you really- really pulled a bitch move. If I knew sooner, like, I'm open for ideas. I wouldn't have taken off you know." The Aurora was to the point where she was about to pass out. The last thing she managed out was "We shhould toootally esperiment with dos holes."
Rose woke up early, and felt a different feeling of a rough pony-shaped chitin snuggled up to her back. She almost freaked, but recalled yesterday. The changeling she knew as "Colgate" was snuggling up to her. Half of her said wake her, the other half said let her sleep. She listened to the prior. She got up from the bed, moving and waking the monster she loved so much. She had full, blue eyes.
"Hey, good morning." Said the changeling, an apologetic tone in her voice.
"I don't even know your name. Don't try to make this better within one day."
"I'm Lithid. It's Welsh for allure."
"Makes sense." Lithid opened her mandibles to retort, but probably decided that was a bad idea considering the situation.
"Uh, hey. What was up with you last night?" Awkward silence. "That came out wrong. I meant-"
"Aurora. Always helps me through rough patches."
"Uh, hey. I should probably elaborate on the whole changeling thing."
"Yeah, you don't say. Were you ever a detective?" You could tell when someone is withholding a punch when they bust out the angry sarcasm.
"Okay, okay. Calm down-"
"Don't you tell me to calm down!"
"Granted. Anyway, my old hive across the sea was invaded and my queen nearly destroyed herself turning into a dragon, so my old queen gave 3 of us something to help us survive. Then she sent us across the ocean to try to conquer our own hive. We ended up finding Chrysalis's hive, and she was in the middle of conquering you. I and one of the others saw the danger, and left. One, Kuno, stayed. No idea if she's still even alive. The other went her own way, I think she also ended up in ponyville. Colgate found me as, well, me, and she taught me a lot about dentistry, so I managed to fit into her job when the fire took her. I always fed on my patients. Ponies were repeating and getting stale, so I got out there." Rose had no Idea that a changeling could be so smart, but this one was from across the ocean.
"What did your queen give you to help you survive, exactly?" That made Lithid pause, and seemed flustered.
"Well, she made the other changelings give us any extra love sustenance, and we each ended up with about 10 years of it. After, of course, our queen who got anywhere between 20 and 25." Lithid seemed to be slightly uncertain at first, but Rose brushed this off as a nervous habit. However, she didn't drop it entirely, as it nagged the back of her head. Then, a question came to her head, and threw an appropriate glance.
"So, why did you stay here?"
"Because it was possible to sustain myself longer than anywhere else just from large strings of bypassers. Also, where ponies wouldn't be suspicious of me here, and the patients from surgery kept me going."
"Why wait this long to tell me?"
"I wanted to make sure you wouldn't leave me because of how I was made."
"It only makes sense that everyone should get a chance out there, I guess. It's understandable that you waited some, with the whole changeling bounty and all the anti-changeling byist circulating around, but we did it. TWICE! "
"I planned to try to say something after the first time."
"Yeah, whatever. Anyways, I thought I knew you inside-out. However, better late then letting me get a changeling detection lamp, I guess." They were silent for a while, and Rose was getting used to the whole Lithid/Colgate changeling thing more and more.
"Hey, uh, I don't want it too come off like your just some meal. I really couldn't live without this. The best love I could get would just be stale bread compared to Cookie Dough." Lithid seemed to effectively lighten the mood.
"Surprised you let the stuff near your teeth." A green flame enveloped the changeling, now as Col.
"I only did once, then I read what was in the stuff." They shared a lighthearted chuckle, but they had to return to the subject.
"Anyway, what do we do now?"
"You should probably just tend the shop, you seem like you need some time to think."
"I'm sure you have to had been a detective at some point." Rose wasn't exactly hiding the fact that this was a surprise of a surprise. Her knees were trembling, the smile was mock, and her mind was still in slight flustered disarray. "Anyway, I really should open the shop. Don't want to keep customers waiting." She turned, and grazed a wall on her way to the front. Once there, she flipped the sign on the door, and stood behind the counter.
By closing time, she had swallowed her situation. She had fallen in love with a changeling, and said changeling, Lithid, had revealed herself to the botanist. Lithid was from across the ocean, and had known the real Colgate until she died in a fire. Lithid then took Col's place, and managed to get by until she got the Gala tickets. What worried her most was the fact that they were natural enemies, and if she was found out, she would probably be executed. How would this work? Probably like it has so far. It was closing time, and Lithid would probably be back from the dental clinic any time now. She went to the door, turned the sign to face CLOSED out the door, and went back to her bed. She hadn't gotten the paper yet today, she realized, and went to go outside. She pushed passed the door, and picked up the paper, and read the headlines with increasing horror.
"CHANGELING LANTERNS CATCH 2"
She just stood there, pale, and after what might have been seconds or hours, read on.
"A baker, by the name of Derpy Hooves, was recently revealed by the newly-installed changeling detection lanterns. The changeling tried to fly away, but was instantly subdued by the unicorn guard stationed there. The fate of her 'little sister', Ditzy hooves, is still being decided. She could be either put with foster parents, or tried and executed for treason. Knowing Celestia, the former is much more likely. Similarly, a changeling taking the place of Colgate, a world-known dental surgeon, was revealed. however, this changeling successfully escaped and is now being hunted down personally by Looking Glass, a unicorn private investigator. Looking Glass also has full military and local support in hunting down the monster."She knew exactly where she might be, and took off running for the nearest cab.
She just arrived at the inn where they had stayed for the Gala. Many a pleasant memory here. She walked in and greeted the keeper.
"Hello, has anyone been in room 24 lately?"
"Why, no. Would you like to check?"
"Yes please." She was given the keys.
"Be back soon. please." She nodded, and went up 2 flights of stairs. She found the 4th room, unlocked it, and entered. Instead of checking every corner, she tried calling out.
"Lithid? You in here?" She was greeted by small, blue pools from around a corner.
"How'd you find me here? Were you followed?"
"No, but I think you need a place to stay. Could you change into some foal maybe? That would work for my idea." She could tell that Lithid stifled a whitty remark, and turned into a small, white unicorn with a black mane and tail. No cutie mark" She then gestured for her to follow as she went back down.
"Okay, now act as if your in more trouble then ponies were when your kind invaded the castle." The now somber little filly had a tear in her eye, getting the point. She then shot her best teary puppy dog eyes. "Perfect." Rose then put on the most anger-suppressing face she could muster. As they walked out, Rose initiated the plan she had.
"Do you have ANY idea how worried your mom was? She was absolutely freaking out about you. Ugh." A pause as she approached the counter. "Here's the keys." She politely nearly snapped, best malice in her voice that she could muster. Once they were out, and the door was closed, she nudged the filly.
"Okay, quit it. Act normal, and lets go home, okay?" Lithid nodded, and she boarded the nearest cab. She paid the ponies pulling and soon they were on their way back home. It was a decently short ride, and they were to the train station before they knew it. It was a much longer train ride, but was silent. They couldn't really talk right now. Once they got to ponyville, they walked across the small town, opposed to carriage ride, and arrived to be greeted by royal guard carriages in front of the shop. Rose instantly turned around, and pushed the little filly with her.
"Halt! Roseluck, you are requested for interrogation." Rose jumped, and wondered why he didn't acknowledge the little filly, until she noticed a distinct lack on one.
"Oh, right. Okay." She then heard the distant, authorative call that made Rose nearly go into a coma.
"WE GOT IT!" Rose stiffened, and completely went into shock. She stayed in this state and thought she heard some thrashing, than snapped out of it when she heard a shriek, and felt like a bond of something inside her was cut. She wasn't feeding love anymore. Her whole world had been tossed, turned, and put through hell up until now. Everything was just settling, but now, she was shattered. She logically couldn't be sure, but she knew, Lithid was dead. She heard the guard say
"Nevermind. Be on your way, mam.", but she couldn't move. Mentally, she couldn't move. Physically, she was ice. Her life was dead. There would never be anypony who would ever care for her anywhere near like she did. After what seemed like a few eternities, but was really an hour or so, she shakily made her way back to the store. She shuffled through a cabinet with a still hoof until she found what she was looking for. A greenvine rope. She tied a knot in both ends, got a stool, hooked it up in the ceiling, put her neck through it, and kicked. Her life flashed before her, and after the painful memories finished flashing, everything seemed to just stop for her. In an instant, she was on the ground with a hoof on her soldier. She opened her eyes, and saw a large pony, cloaked in tattered black from head to hind hoof.
Clop 2 : Returning the favor
Rose's turn to just lay back and relax, while Colgate did her thing.
"Wait, come here." There reappeared a cyan head from the covers, which she pirated her minty taste from, and after about 10 seconds, let her go, satisfied. She just laid back, and felt the warmth of the unicorn's fur against her own, before a much warmer warmth between her legs. She let out a soft moan, as she felt her lover's tongue licking her entrance, and she moaned louder as it entered her walls, no foreplay. She was slowly ascending to a state of bliss, then remembered what she had done in Col's situation, and after. This couldn't end as good as it was looking. She was quickly caring less as the tongue probed within her. Her moans were growing louder, and the mare doing it all showed no signs of stopping. She was quickly approaching her edge, and tipped over to Cloud 9. Once she returned back down toEquestria, completely forgetting her little joke last time, she got a mouthful of herself. Damn, she really did taste like a rose smells. They weren't done, and while Rose enjoyed herself, quite literally, Col sneaked back down, this time lining her horn up.
"Rose, prepare yourself."
"For whHAAA!" She was interrupted by a horn sliding into her still-sensitive clit. It slid in and out at an increasing pace until it was too fast for her in her blissful state to be able to comprehend. It probably wasn't that fast, but it was getting her to the point where Colgate would have to scrub for an hour in the shower to be presentable. Once again, she turned over, and she fell asleep.
