Arcane, or Cane isn't normal in fact he's possibily the only human on the planet. He doesn't like being treated special but it's kind of hard when your mother is the element of magic, and a princess.
One day there was a baby in a box floating down a river, the most recently crowned princess Twilight Sparkle stumbled the box with the baby inside. Being the caring pony that she is she decides to adopt the child and now she'll have more than just being a princess to deal with.
(Equestria girls never happened in this universe, so Twilight doesn't know what Arcane is.)
