Amending (some seriously broken) Fences
You Only Live Twice...because why would you only live once?
They always go for the insults first."Hey Glimmer! Has uncle Dolf called from hell yet?" I listened as someone called from across the cafeteria as she opened the door and walked in. The insults where harsh ranging from comments on her actions as a person to her family being descended from a line of dictators. Followed by random flying debris of french fries and steamed vegetables. it hadn't been easy for her to come back to school in the week she...had done some things. Things we had something of a right to be angry about, but Personally? I never for a second felt we had any right to treat her this way. She tried and tried, time and time again, but the minds of the adolescent jury, are not so quick to listen. and even less easy to forgive.
I sit at the only table not trying to make her into a social pariah. It seemed all the more fitting given the company of myself and a few others excluded; The Dazzlings A.K.A the singing school Pariah's now just barley off the student bodies radar, and their boy toy John Sweetstuff, Sunset Shimmer A.K.A C.H.S's first social pariah, who tried every possible action to shake the label from her image, Trixie Lulamoon, smug show off humbled for it and none the worse for wear, and my girlfriends (yes i said plural) Gilda Griffin and Rainbow Dash. the former had been one mean girl when she moved here, but like all of us...Well most of us, she had changed and showed everyone that it's not who you are that matters, but who you can become, I guess it was only fitting that Starlight made her way over to our table at the very back of lunchroom, wiped the food off her hoodie and asked.
"Can I sit here?" She asked as she brushed some bits of Rose's green dandelion salad from her hair. we looked up at her, memories of the last time she spoke to...quite a few of us actually, and even then we weren't exactly on the best of terms.
"It doesn't matter to me." Gilda said as she popped the top of her Bento box. That's the thing about Gilda, She's as western as the rest of us but the girl was madly in love with Japanese culture. Beyond the stuff like an Otaku love of anime and manga. Gilda was fluent in the casual and formal dialect, she could write Kanji with a few well placed strokes, and knew every director of every genre from Kiyoshi Kurosawa of Sweet home fame, to the king of the Kaiju himself Eiji Tsuburaya. Oh, and she was there the night her father died.
"Thanks." Was all the shy little Starlight could say as she took a seat beside us, and took note of our choice in taste. I mentioned Gilda's bento box, today's chioce was two rice balls, a few slices of roast pork, a side of Miso soup and a nori and shrimp salad. the Dazzlings and their boy toy where splitting a grande pack from taco bell, (It was Tuesday after all and Sonata's turn to pick) Trixie kept things simple with tuna on rye and some Oreo cookies with a thermos of soy milk, and Sunset, being closer to her equestrian roots than the rest of us having been an equine once, preferred a veggie delight on oat and honey. I noticed that Star didn't even have a school tray with her when she sat down.
"Hey Starlight...You're not eating?" I asked helping my self to a few pieces of Colonel Sanders.
"I...I'm just not very hungry, that much." She said with a tiny tinny squeak in her voice, the girl was a dead ringer for Fluttershy in both speaking and mannerisms as she huddled up in her midnight blue hoodie nervously. We all looked at her and seemed to scoot closer at her saying this. It was Sunset who reached out and softly placed her hand on her shoulder and looked at her with a strong sense of both empathy and concern.
"Starlight please...take half my sandwich okay?" She placed half her veggie delight by her.
"And We've got plenty of taco's left." Sonata said with a hint of usual bubbly self before Aria added a quick,
"Even I have to admit they are pretty good." As she slid a cool ranch Doritos locos beside the sandwich.
"Hey that Fast food got nothing on our taste of the far east, right Dash?" Gilda said smugly as she placed her geppei, a Japanese version of the delicacy dessert the moon cake, and her only one mind you, on a napkin with the rest, while Rainbow dash gave her dessert of the bento box a sweet bean bun.
"Trixie didn't need the whole Sixteen cookies anyway." Trixie said siding eight to the offerings stash, they where the aptly flavored caramel apple one for Halloween, it wasn't just the taste but Trixie preferred them over the candy corn ones, though I did tell her not to let that one South Park joke worry her. Starlight look at the pile of offerings then to us, we all smiled at her reassuringly probably the first smile she'd had since...It happened.
"Thank you...I appreciate it I really do." Even with her mood slightly elevated, she took only a few restrained bites of the moon cake and I noticed she kept ever so slightly flinching and twitching to look over her shoulder every now and again. As if she was expecting someone to throw something at her or flick her ears.
"You okay Star?" I asked as I only then just realized I hadn't contributed, so I quickly placed an original (hey cut me a break I didn't even have extra crispy) drumstick on a napkin next to the other offerings.
"I'm okay...I am I just...I" She said in this strange almost, dazed tone, like a girl caught in a borderline stat of catatonia as she nibbled barley a flake of skin off the chicken. I looked into those big, almost sad looking eyes, and I could see what it was that she needed.
"Starlight...I'm sorry, I didn't mean for..." She only looked at me as her eyes began to tear up, her cheeks got flushed and softly, the girl began to cry. She leaned over and threw her arms around me. I could hear those tell tale sobs and whimpers of her agony. I was like being brought back from the dead, or being born again, but not that way. More like she was really born a brand new girl. The ties of all that anger, guilt, and sadness that was constantly haunting her was finally at ease. I let her go, noticing how she slightly resisted the release from my arms.
"Thank you." She said again, only this time she she sounded like she really meant it, because it wasn't just giving her a share in something to eat when she herself was too depressed by all that was surrounding her. The wily students, her emotional baggage and the isolation, but also the feeling that in spite of all that...There where some who cared out there, and there will always be friends who care about her out their.
"Her Star?" i asked her as I fed myself a hot steaming bit of succulent KFC chicken breast.
"Yeah?" She asked her mood miles above what it had been when she walked in.
"We're all gathering in..."The Sanctum Sanctorum," after class, hero meetings, training exercises, business to discuss, and MI6 style tech development, real superhero team stuff. Feel like joining the Young justice?..Okay to be honest we're not calling ourselves that and it's only the Sanctum Sanctorum temporarily."
"Hopefully." Adagio added with a sneer. "I was hoping you had at least one original, creative bone in your body." That girl; sexy voice, still has to give everyone else either attitude or lip, or both.
"Right...Anyway, you in Star?" The smile she gave me and the soft cute little blush was all I needed for her answer.

It was after the final bell in Dr. (yes a doctrine certified and he taught at a high school) Whooves' AP literature class, when we made our move. As the other's packed their bags and headed off to do who knows what who knows where. I sat in the back of class room. Gilda was a few desks ahead of me, as was my other good friend Twilight Sparkle, all of use kept our eye on Dr. Whooves as he packed his papers up in his briefcase. He seemed to notice what we were up too.
"I know today's overview and analysis on The Odyssey was...enterprising. But I have to ask why you all can't be bothered to take the assignment home." He said as the three of us tilted our heads up at him, we only shrugged and and got back to "taking notes," before Whooves took his briefcase in hand and made for the door. "We'll I'll see you tomorrow...you know the rules; out by five-thirty, and lock the door when you leave."
"Yeah, yeah," was all Gilda could say to him, keeping up her image of being mildly interested. As soon he was gone we stuffed the books back into our desk and the three of us made our way into the back storage closet. No it was NOT
"Are you sure he had an entrance here?" Twilight asked feeling around behind the walls of the closet as did Gilda and I.
"Trust me Twilight, Mr. Discord may be weird, but you just gotta know how he ticks, bingo." I said as I found a section of wall that felt a little looser than the rest, I gave the wall section a little nudge before it pushed inward like a door. Opening into the narrow passage of the school's maintenance tunnels. The janitor Mr. Discord, for all the uncanny eccentricities he had. One of his more practical tendencies was to have entrances to these tunnels that ran throughout the back drops of the school, in places such as this.
We entered the narrow, dimly lit passage and followed it, the setting not suitable for those with acute claustrophobia as it felt like squirming your way through a hallway more narrow then your own shoulders. "Damn, that janitor must be an ex freak show contortionist." Gilda commented as we finally came to a steel door sealed up with a wheel (like the water tight bulkhead) I adjusted the sleeves of my jacket; grabbed the wheel and turned. Opening the door way to what lay within.
The room was just big enough for there to be what at first glance to the untrained eye, appeared to be a giant deli refrigerator in the middle of the room. It was a black steel box that was mounted on a steel workshop table; The front end a door had a clear Plexiglas side embedded into the steel. Inside the box, a few strange pointed needles began crisscrossing across each other inside, as they did so...something began to take shape.
"Hey Twilight, Gilda, and most of all Peter you made it!" Someone called out to us from a corner of the room. We looked to see a slightly chubby guy with a crop of brown hair seated behind a computer terminal checking the machine's work.
"Hey Chowder," I said to him as he reached into his snack stash for a few Mr. Goodbars and handing one to each of us.
"Pete I told you, call me Microchip, just like int comics okay?" He said picking up a issue of The Punisher from the early 90's and flipping open to Linus Lieberman A.K.A Microchip.
"Chowder? Don't you know what eventually became of Microchip?" I asked as he went back to his desk.
"I...haven't gotten that far I admit." He said as the large device in the room dinged.
"He was blown up with a rocket in the main universe; had his head blown off by a shotgun by his old friend Frank in the MAX verse, and when they brought him back he had his throat sliced open, that's like if Gilda's code name was Gwen Stacey or Rainbow Dash's was Stephanie Brown, it's practically asking for bad luck to befall them both."
"Ah you worry too much Pete we got bigger things to think about right now." He said his eyes lighting up in delight as he opened a drawer in the table the big machine sat on before opening the Plexiglas window.
"Like what..Micro?" I asked as he took something from the drawer and the machine.
"Let me ask first...do you know what this is?" He said smiling as he tapped the machine top.
"It looks like an over-sized microwave."
"Over-sized?...This happens to a top of the line Makerbot Replicator Z18 3D printer. The website claims it can print a replica of a Tyrannosaurus Rex skull. I'm using it too take our little "Justice League" to new heights." He said still trying to hide whatever it was he had behind his back.
"What uh...what heights are you talking about?'' Gilda asked as she turned from whatever he had on his monitor.
"Merchandising of course!" He said and now we could all see just what his 3D printer had cooked up, In the printer itself was a ten inch figure of pure snowy white plastic, it didn't take much to notice who the face and body was molded after.
"Is that a doll of...me?" Gilda asked taking the plastic visage of her self in her hand.
"Sure is, but that's only the base, feast your eyes on the finished product!" He said happily showing a boxed Gilda doll in his hands. The box was the kind usually used to hold dolls; long cardboard with a plastic window to see inside it, the Gilda toy in the box had been properly painted to have the real Gilda's Purple tank top, her tight blue skinny jeans, and yellowish brown boots. (which had been print sculpted into the doll's plastic itself as opposed to having her boots be a removable accessory) The printer had captured her likeness pretty well actually; the profile was pretty close to the real Gilda's, and the eyes where the same yellow, birdlike shape she had. All in all, not a bad job.
"The toy uses you're standard ball and socket joints for the head, arms and legs, and a peg joint at the wrist for wrist movement articulation. So in some ways she's assembled like a Mattel Barbie or Monster High figure, not to mention Rarity made mini leather jackets for all the figures, the only removable article of clothing. So It's like a hybrid between a "doll" and an "action figure. Ah well hopefully the buyers on the online distribution won't care whether its a girl or boy toy." This comment is what stirred the powder keg.
"Who says I want to be a doll?" Gilda said with a slight glare at Chowder, he instantly gulped hard as he held the box in front of him like a sheild.
"Well...It's just...Dolls, as in girl's dolls, often have multiple removable accessories for starters, the clothes are made and not painted on. Then their's the articulation for our figure, it uses almost the exact same joints as a Mattel brand doll, and then there's the packaging, I had the designers use neutral colors on the deigns, but with the whole..heart shaped horseshoe Canterlot High logo and the use of the term..."Equestria Girls" would most likely classify this as a girl's toy."
"Not that I wouldn't mind that...but let me ask...what's stopping my toy from being a gender neutral thing eh fat boy?" Gilda said as I saw her get up close in chowder's face a fist curling in her hands.
"Now hold on Gilds, there are other features too...LOOK!" He screamed like a little girl as Gilda took the toy from his hand, opened the box up, and took the figure out with the plethora of accessories that had been made for her toy.
"See? You come with two Katanna swords; two sai, a bow-staff, and two nunchucks, get it? The same weapons used by the Ninja Turtles...It was Peter's idea!" Chowder said the crap almost but thankfully not fully scared out of him. I saw Gilda place the sai's in her figures hands and she posed the hands to hold them right in front of the toy's face. It was a cool pose ready to strike, she smiled as she slipped it back in the box.
"I want all them posed like that when their in their boxes;" she said,"and Peter I appreciate the refference but..you know me...you know I like my hardware don't you?" She asked in a cute tone.
"I'll have Chowder draft up the new weapon accessories for you asap hun." I said nervously rubbing behind my head.
"Good, now I do Appreciate the sentiment, but if you're going to make me into a toy to sell for the fans...let's have them decide what kinds of toys for either girls or boys will be, and not tell or force them what kinds of toys they want for what gender...okay?"
"Whatever you say...Gilda." I said narrowly avoiding using the word she hates.
"We're clear on my standards now fa....Chowder?"
"Crystal ma'am...Clear as day." He said readying the next toy to be assembled by the gargantuian; six thousand dollar, 3D pinter

A friendly game
With her image in a 3D printed hunk of plastic to her liking. We made our way into the next room over. It was one of the many training rooms the derelict passages had been converted to. We almost never saw the strange and bizarre Mr. discord especially in the areas where he wasn't needed. Never the less, there was this strange feeling he knew what we where up too and didn't mind maybe even wanted to help in whatever ways he could....After all; where do you think that six grand 3D printer came from? or how every now and then, excess equipment from the athletic department kept showing up in our training rooms with notes saying things like. "I hope these extra arrows and fencing gear comes in handy A friend?" My closest guess to why (If I may digress a bit) Is this. There's one room in the entire section of our little setup I've specifically asked people not to go into, why? I found in this room a tattered old mattress on a rusty frame; a hotplate and microwave, enough soup and canned food to last a century and not much else. Mr. Discord lives in the derelict passages and backdrops of our school...A living Rat man that does so much for us and we just keep the school a vandalized pigsty for him to keep running!
Yeah after I found that room, I made sure to clean the classrooms up a bit better than my peers at the end of the day, and kept a few tools on hand to fix some busted hinges and doors when I could. Anyway; The training room we entered was one specifically set up to practice fencing. A ring with two masked fencers where striking away at each other, while Rarity and Trixie stood on either end of the ring, keeping score with their magic auras. Trixie on the left had a bright blue 2 and the fighter on the right had a purple seven from Rarity. The fencer's swords clanging and snapping together as the fighters fought to score hits on their white uniforms.
"Come on!" "You only need to catch up by five points" Trixie called out to fencer I could only guess was Twilight, I thought she may have been fencing her brother Shining Armor, what with a costume on a mannequin not far from Rarity that resembled a red knight's cuirass with faux chain mail (I say faux because it was actually the mesh material used to make shark suits and fish scaling gloves) colored with a shinny silver finish. Sounds fitting given his choice name. The other fighter expertly parried a thrust from Twilight before scoring a hit on her mask the sixte mark, quite impressive.
"Whoa Twi, you did pretty good but you're bro's been the champion at your old school Crystal Prep since before you where born or something like that, hasn't he?" I said as the competitor removed a mask, under which was a pretty boy face with a crop of wavy and blue water colored hair. Shining only smiled as he looked down from the ring at me.
"I'd be flattered if I had been the one who one this match dude." He said undoing his fencing armor revealing the white hoodie and sweats (which didn't look all that different from his fencing garb) and that weird logo of a shield and a few stars on the pocket.
"So you're sis finally surpasses the big brother Shy?" I asked approaching the still masked and silent fencer.
"Not quite," a familiar voice called from under the mask before taking it off to reveal who it was under it. Starlight Glimmer blushed at me bright red as I could hardly believe it myself,
"She beat a five time Fencing champ like him on her first go?" It was at that moment however when Pinkie Pie dressed in a Deadpool costume burst through the door, pulled out a tv remote before anyone could notice her, and froze everyone in a state of being paused?!...What the?...Why am..How?

"Oh funny you should mention that," Pinkie said holding up the very blue spoon shaped remote from Click and using it to Turn her own hair from pink to peach.
"Pinkie? I know magic exists in this world...but how in the nine circles of hell are you doing this?" I said to the clearly off the deep end Pinkie-Pool.
"Well Friendship Games established that Shining Armor in cannon already graduated Crystal Prep but for some reason you ignored that and reverse aged him into a student like us to make an obscure DC comics reference .
"Pinkie I don't know how your're doing this...but can you just unfreeze everyone and get out of here before you make the universe divide by zero again?!" I yelled at her using a question and exclamation mark to show how serious I was.."See you're already making my thoughts as wild and nonsensical as yours!"
"Okay okay! Mr. meanie, I was only trying to explain inconsistency, the EG specials have a way of doing that you know?" She said as she rewound reality and hit play before darting back out the door everyone else none the wiser of the big lipped alligator moment (Dammit Pinkie stop crossing my brain with TV tropes!) That had just happened.
"She's quite a natural, Shinning said again as we all felt a sense of deja vu. "Hey is it just me or do you guys...feel funny?"
"Funny how Darling?" Rarity asked as she undid her magic score nonchalantly.
"Eh it must be something I ate, anyway, Starlight did pretty good for her first run."
"I just wish the others in school felt the same way." She said as no doubt a barrage of bad memories came flooding back to her...I felt for her as I looked over at the Shining Knight light knight's cuirass that had no doubt been made for Shining. I picked it up and true to my assumption, It was modern shark mail, which was lighter then the medieval stuff and the cuirass plate was hard Kevlar as was the helmet.
"So I take it this will be you're Super M.O Shining?" I asked handing him the purple helm he threw on his head.
"Sure is!" He said pridefully. "I'm hoping it'll really serve to grow my image of the new age noble knight, not publicly a crime fighter but rather more for doing good the public will know about...they'll think it's all an act for an anonymous philanthropist."
"And what's you're first act in the costume going to be?" I asked handing it to him to try on.
"The dedication of C.H.S's new C.I.T after school day camp for toddlers and young children being dedicated in...an hour. Holy Smokes I gotta get going!" He said throwing his costume one in a hurry but i quickly held him back. (because really an hour? we're already at the school remember?)
"Whoa there Sir Panic had," "I think we can arrange something that can work in everyone's favor...Even your's...especially your's Star."
"What are you saying?" She asked with clear and present intrigue.
One plan formulation later.
"Darling? Are you sure this is the villain you want to use for this little horror show of yours?" Rarity asked as she applied another scar to my face. The plan was simple, Shining In his Nobel Knight gimmick, would be making his way across the parking lot where the day care trailers had been set up for the dedication, he bumps into a figure in a long coat and hat, tries to apologize but the "stranger" isn't quick to forgive. Only for it to be...Jigsaw!...No not the saw killer the OTHER jigsaw, the mob hit-man from The Punisher. which was why Rarity was applying some makeup and prosthetic's to my face.
"I't not big deal Rare," I said as she molded the misshaped eye, keep in mind we where going for a Dominic West Jigsaw look. "Once It looks like "Jigsaw's got shining on the ropes, Starlight with out any gimmicks, just a bow and arrow from archery practice and maybe a fencing sword, sticks me with an arrow, saves Shining, draws her fencing saber and says "leave now." like a bad-ass Katniss with a sword, I flee beaten and she's a hero." It always sounds so easy when you say it out loud does it not?
"Darling hun...How's Starlight supposed to shoot you with an arrow without killing you?" Rarity asks as she used brown blush with water to paint dried blood on my "scars."
"Easy, She'll be using blunt arrows which can't pierce skin at a distance but everything will happen so fast no one will notice, I'll pop this bag of stage blood under my coat not to mention my graphine armor, and no one will know the difference." I said my voice becoming more growly as I began talking in a Brooklyn accent. "So doll? What ya think?" I said as she handed me a mirror and I looked at the reflection . "Heh we thought Freud was scary, wait till they getta load a me eh babe?'' I said getting way too into character.
"Don't push it darling i'm still a proper lady."
"Hey c'mon cutie, its called bein in cognito!"
"Damn well better be."
The C.H.S Parking lot.
Everyone was gathered by the wooden walkway outside the trailer, The C.I.Ts (counselors in trainning for things like summer camp, big brothers/big sisters kinds a stuff.) the little kids they'd be takin care a for the afternoons once everything was in order, and a majority of the school. Shining in his knight outfit, made his was to the crowd, they hadn't seen him just yet, but I made my way acroos the lot to him he knew full well what ta do as he bumped into my when tha crowd was just at the other end too far us to see untill...well you'll see.
"Hey...pal watch were you're going will ya?! Oh and by the way the pride parades not till St. Paddy's day." I said which prompted shining to whisper.
"Hey can you let up on the insults a bit?"
"It's gotta be convincin, and rule one don't ever break character." I whispered back to him.
"Yeah well don't make my fighting be authentic too pal." He said before shifting to say. "My apologizes good sir, but I must make my way to a charitable and noble dedecation of the school's new after care for little ones program."
"No wonda people insulted superheroes by callin em...''gay" for so long, glad I never was inta that bullshit." I said with a growl and chuckle as the comic hero of the 50's was met by the villain from the 90's comics.
"I'm serious quit it with the remarks that a fourth grader would be embarassed by." Shining said glaring at me from under the helm
"I'm sorry, it's just as a villian there can't be anything to like about me and your audience has to want to see me beaten." I replied.
"What are you the writer?" He retorted back.
"It was my idea you know." I said drawing a prop switchblade. "I don't think you know who ah am pretty boy, I said lifting my face to allow him to see the fake scars on my face."
"Hey she did nice work." He said before switching to say, "Dear goodness man?! Are you okay?"
"I know," "I'm Billy Russo...NO! THAT MAN IS DEAD!...It's Jigsaw now...and I think we need to get..."better acquainted" heh heh heh." The crowd turned their heads to see my ugly mug and the pack of students ran over to see the super hero fight taking place on the the school parking lot. "You getta lot of dolls with that face pretty boy?"
"Only one that matters the most to me." He said drawing his fencing sword.
"How dull." I said As the prop wen right for his cheek. We fought for a bit and my prop swinging and slashing as shining gave me a few jabs with his round tipped fencing saber. It went on like this as the crowd drew in closer and closer drawn to the fight. I decided to end the charade when I grabbed shining in a grapple and began kneeing him in the gut, his body protected by his Kevlar, but to everyone else he was only wearing a cheap Halloween costume. HE grabbed his stomach and did a good job in doubling over convincingly as he crushed the capsule of stage blood in his mouth and coughing up the shell casings to look like teeth. "Hah you little puss...this is too easy. Who can stop the hit-man the mob didn't want?" I said cackling happily as an arrow hit me square in the stomach. Like i said it was only blunt so it didn't punch a hole in my body but it made everyone turn their heads to see who had shot it.
"The next one's for you're head Jigsaw!" Starlight said as she stood with a well crafted steel bow in her hands. She was dressed in a black leather jacket and jeans. her hair styled up in a bun with a pony tail off to the side. She drew back her bow with another blunt arrow ready which reminded me i was supposed to look wounded. I held the arrow in my hands as I opened a plastic package of stage blood and let the "blood" drip onto the ground as I shrieked and gasped in "pain."
"Whoa...one a you tight wearin freaks grows a pair, and its a broad, who'd a thunk?" I said as she walked up to me and drew a fencing sword.
"Leave, before I make you into a pincushion." I heard among our crowd say things like 'Check it out, Starlight saved a hero with just some gym equipment.' and 'I think we may have been too hard on the girl.' 'Yeah, I mean this guy...I think this guy makes Starlight look like Fluttershy in comparison.' Starlight walked up to me with her sword still drawn. before whispering to me. "I think you should run now..before the real law shows up and hauls you off...and thanks Peter." She said winking at me as I took off, a little worried I broke up my illusion of being shot with an arrow.
A few Hours later
I pulled The scars off my face and put them back in the box of disguises, I wash the fave wounds and the stage blood from my costume as the TV recaps.
"And police are still looking for the man known as Jigsaw, the assilant who attacked spokesmen for the Nobel Knight charity foundation Shining armor as he made his way to a dedication cermony today, the young man sufferred minor injuries and refussed medical treatment as he deliveved his dedication speech but the real hero was local student Starlight Glimmer, The heriess to the estate of one.." I watched her on the camera, laughing and smiling with tears of joy as they gethered around her and high fived her. Some even hugged her, and my lip reading could up more then a fe "We're sorrys." I may have been playing the villian that afternoon, but I was a hero to her and I made her one too.
