It was Winter, one of my favorite times of the year. I could actually enjoy it if I wasn't freezing to death. But the way the white snow covered everything, it was simply beautiful, Even in the Everfree forest it was still beautiful. I was lucky enough to start a fire that morning, the winter winds blew left and right, back and forth. It was impossible to start a single spark. Thank Celestia that my tails scales were highly flammable, or I would have never lit that flame.

Oh sorry about that I guess I got a little sidetracked from the real story. My name is Deviant, I am a young draconequus living in the only place I can not be judged, the Everfree forest. My life is very quite, the multiple trees here make a living jungle gym for me. My physical body is much stronger than any magic I could summon, but only because I don't know any magic because nobody ever bothered to teach me any spells or tricks. I was very unhappy with my current life, being alone, nothing to talk to besides animals. My life was horrible, anyone I talked to ran away from me in fear of my Appearance. Everybody ran from me and no one gave me a chance, that is until I have a change of heart and meet some interesting ponies.

I was warming up around the fire I just started, warming up as much as I could before I froze myself to the bone in the intense winter chill. My teeth were chattering, my fur on my back was straight up, and I couldn't feel my fingers or claws in either one of my hands. I needed to get warmer, the sun was only going down, and I needed a sustainable fire, so I decided to add some shrubs and leaves to the burning brush. I could tell how cold it was, as soon as I set ten feet away from that fire, frost started to occur on my fur. I quickly hurried back to the fire with a few bushes and limbs in my arms, they extra burning fuel made the fire burst towards me, making me feel warm to the bone. But as if Karma didn't want me to be there, a large mound of snow rolled down a nearby tree, and landed on my fire. Somehow I wasn't surprised at this, "I guess thats my cue to go look for some food" I said with irritation in my voice. I spread both my wings and flew off above the forest, hoping to get a better look. I was hoping to find some kind of fruit or veggie, but nothing was in sight. the sun started to decline across the horizon, and I was about to die of starvation. "I can't find a single thing before sundown! I guess I'll try again in the morning." sadness filled me and so did starvation. But starvation was the least of my problems at this point. As soon as that sun disappeared, winter winds started appearing.

I was almost below the forest's top layer of leaves when a gust of cold wind pushed me back up into the atmosphere. "Why me?" I was starting to get a little agitated at this point. I got higher up in the air and attempted to dive down from the air, using my wings at full speed. But a large gale pushed me back up right before I was at ground. "One last time, one last time." I repeated over and over as I rose up in the air. This time I was going to give it my all, using one hundred and ten percent of my wings.

The winds were blowing aggressively, and it only got worse with time. It was pitch black outside and I could barely see 5 feet in front of me, and to top it off, it started to snow. I was trapped in a blizzard, and there was no way out. Besides just me being stuck in that vortex, some trees were uprooted and were spinning inside the cold vortex with me, But that could not stop me. I was going at maximum power, using every muscle and body part to help me escape. I decided to use every fiber of my being to try to fly out one more time, my wings going as fast as they could, the winds blowing harder and harder.

"Almost out...." I kept saying to myself, and I really was almost out of that spinning nightmare. I reached for the edge of the vortex, pushing myself out as my lion paw finally got out of the vortex. then I slowly started to progress my body, inching out of piece by piece, when I finally had just the top part of my body out of the tornado. It felt like I was about to be torn in two from that vortex.

"All... most... there.." with my wings still going at full speed. Then with my torso almost completely out of the tornado, a large tree was uprooted right in front of me. I could hear its roots snap as it was rising up from the earth. I suddenly realized what was going to happen, "Oh no" I said with fear in my voice,"Come on! Wings Go! Faster!" but it was no use, my wings were going as fast as they could and I couldn't go any faster than I already was. There was one single root holding that tree in the ground, but it didn't hold very long. I heard a large snap just as I was pulling my legs out of the tornado. The tree was spinning out of control, I was trying to get out before something happened, but I only watched in horror as the tree was within arm distance. I closed my eyes and clenched up preparing for what was going to happen, then everything around me was silent. I opened my eyes and all I could see was darkness, my ears were ringing in pain.

"uhhhh. ouch..." I groaned to my self, still inside the darkness. I tried to stand up but I fell right back down, I couldn't see anything around me. Until the pitch black was suddenly lit, It was looked like I was in a hallway of some sort. I looked around me to find large candle towers in each corner, covering almost every inch with a dim yellow light. The walls of the hallway looked like stone, and every wall was covered with pictures, of myself. I was so confused, I had no clue how I had gotten here.

"Am I dead?" I asked myself.

As those words escaped my mouth, a dark voice echoed in the room,"Mwahaha very far from it Deviant."

a large shadow appeared from a dark haze, with a long snake-like body and a long black cloak covering most of his upper body and face. The cloaked figure slowly inched toward me, "So good to finally talk to you, that storm was quite a doozy."

I was so defensive of this, How does he know I was in a storm? I asked myself. I bared my fangs and claws, preparing for what-ever this masked figure was going to do. He creeped closer and grabbed the hood of his cloak, slowly taking it off. "Well you see Deviant," his voice trailed of as he took of the hood of the cloak. "What kind of a father would I be, If I didn't know my only sons name?"
