Unorthodox Investigation
Chapter I
Load Full Story"Where am I?" A voice said softly, echoing through the whiteness. "...Hello? Anybody there?" The voice asked again, only being responded with its echoes. The man walked tirelessly straight forward into the vast white emptiness. "Where the hell...Tobias? Jen?" He said loudly, in hopes of a response from the man's friends. No response. Nothing there but him, in a quiet and endless area.
The ground started shaking violently as the man lost balance, falling on his rear-end. "Ah! Jesus! What's goi-...Holy crap!" The man held on for his dear life as the ground below him cracked. He felt gravity come into play as he felt as if he was being pulled down, or at least, falling.
"Oh SHI-." Everything cracked like a glass window, everything turning bright white as the scene changed. He was now sitting on fresh grass, leaning under cover in shade under a tree. "What the...hell...?" He blinked with a dumbfounded look. He has absolutely no idea, what is happening, until he made an assumption of course.
Nothing felt different. He was still him. He still had his fairly short black hair in a faux hawk. He still wore his white t-shirt with a black leather jacket with two white parallel lines down the left side of his jacket. He still had on his dark denim jeans and wore black leather smart wing-tip shoes.
"Oh! I must have dozed off there! I guess I just took a break, and I didn't even realize it! I was probably half-asleep, because I don't remember a thing." He said.
Suddenly, an unusual, mythical-like horse shaped creature popped up in the corner of his eye.
"Hi there!" The creature said with a rather friendly tone.
The man looked at her and blinked, his heart beating like crazy. "W-wait wait! What the hell are you!?" He asked with a loud, booming voice.
"Huh? What's wrong John?" The creature asked, staring right at the man.
"H-How do you know my name?!" He asked shakily. He rolled over and started to back away.
"What's wrong John?" The creature asked. "John?" The creature repeated. "John?"

"John! John!" Tobias, his partner, said loudly.
John's eyes jolted open as he woke up, breathing heavily, beads of sweat going down his forehead.
"H-Holy sh-...Tobias?" John asked wearily as he looked around. He found himself in the infirmary.
"T...Wh-..." He broke his sentence for a moment, catching his breath. "What the hell happened? Why am I in the infirmary?" He asked.
"Decided to visit us humans once again?" Tobias asked jokingly with a smirk, quickly replaced by a serious face.
"John, we were in the car. Your car. We were parked near the abandoned train tunnel. I was talking to you about that... that 'portal' controversy, and you just suddenly blacked out! You better thank me for carrying your heavy carcass over to the " Tobias said with a worried tone. "What, did your jackass self drink too much during your off hours, woke up, had a hangover and decided to fall asleep again? Jesus dude, you were talking some real bullcrap in your sleep." Tobias said as he got up, fixing his olive drab blazer.
"T...I dunno what happened. This...horse...pony...creature was talking to me, and I was also in this void-"
John was interrupted with a loud thud on the door.
"John!" Jenny, also known as Jen, barged into the room. "John, Chief wants you to go to his office immediately!" Jen said as she hastily gestured John to his Chief's office. She quickly walked out, going back to her cubicle.
"Jesus...What's her-"
"Man hurry up John, the 'portal' probably opened again and Chief is going to be a hard-ass on this, and us about it." Tobias said, unhappy with the case he was assigned with.
"Yeah, let's go." John replied as he sat up on the edge of the bed, rubbing the back of his head.

John arrived at the Chief's office.
He opened the door slightly, knocking the door from the inside quietly. "You, er, wanted to see me boss?" John asked as he slowly entered.
"Ah, yes yes. You don't have to come in because I'm deploying you out again. The portal has opened once more. You're the only available operative we have, as usual, and so I need you to drive over around that same area. That's where we spotted the spike in the dimensions. Again." Chief said bluntly before 'shooing' John out.
John rolled his eyes and sighed heavily, walking downstairs to the front entrance. He opened the doors, taking a look of unusually sunny San Francisco. He took in a deep breath of air before exhaling. "Ah hah! There's my beauty!" He said as he ran to his old vintage 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T colored yellow with two black stripes running down the hood, roof, and trunk of his car. On the back was a black low-level spoiler as well.
"Aw man, I missed you old man." John said happily as he slid across his hood, running to his driver's spot and entering, slamming the door. He took in a deep breath and grinned, gripping the wheel on 10 and 2 o'clock. "Same spot huh?" He mumbled to himself. He took out his key and inserted it into the ignition. He twisted it, making the old vintage roar. "Oh-heh-heh-ho yeah..." He said with a wide grin. He kept revving his engine. He put down the handbrake and stepped on the clutch, moving the stick-shift into 1st. He released the clutch and drove away, tires screeching and producing a large amount of smoke as he dashes off into the distance.
He was given permission to drive fast, as long as it's not too reckless. He shifts into 2nd, gaining more speed by the second.
"That last spot was in an alley...right around...here."
He slowed down, turning hard right into the alley, until...

John's view became dark. He turned on his headlights, which didn't affect anything but give light inside the car with his speedometer.
"What the fuck?" He thought as he kept driving forward into what felt like an endless dark road.
He kept driving, seeing a light on the other side. "Did I go into a tunnel by mistake?" He asked himself as he looked back. "Wait...where's the entrance?" He looked back forward. "Fuck."
He decided to floor it, engine roaring loudly as he moves faster towards the light. Once he reaches the end, he ended up being at what looked like a forest. Somewhat, cartoon-y... He revved his engine and turned his car off, exiting the vehicle. "Where the hell am I? This isn't San Fran no more..." He said as he looked around, reaching for his palm-sized Glock pistol.
