David woke up in the same bed like the other days. Five days after the attack of Sombra in his dreams, he hasn't been able to contact Cassiel since then. Every night he hoped that she would be able to recover from what she had done to get David protected. But he scratches the negative possibility and think of positive ones. He grabbed his clothes and went down stairs. To his surprise, Twilight was up earlier than him. David checked the clock and saw that it was only six o'clock in the morning.

"Twilight, it's six o'clock in the morning, what in the world are you doing here that early?", David said and let out a long yawn.

"I'm getting up early because I have to get ready for tonight's Grand Galloping Gala! I have to get the dress from Rarity and my make ups and all of the other things done by tonight!"

David immediately remembered about the time that Rainbow invited him to the Gala, that made him from tired to very excited to intend the big event.

"Tonight is going to be awesome, I can't wait for it!", Twilight said eagerly waiting for the Grand Galloping Gala that will happen tonight.

"Totally, Sparkles. Tonight is going to be absolutely minted. It's a shame that those guys can't come with me.", David said while looking at the other two standing outside the window.

Before both of them could say anything, a scroll appears out of nowhere in front of Twilight, she levitated it and began to survey it. She hovers it in front of David and said, "Words from the Princess."

He took the scroll and opened it, what was written inside actually shocked him, "Looks like I was wrong, Thomas and Charles just got the invitation to the Gala."

What he just said just shocked Twilight like the scroll did with David, "Wait, what? You can't be serious. Are you serious? No, you have to be kidding me!"

"I wish I was, Twilight, but this is a pure gold ticket just like yours.", he said as he took the ticket and showed it to Twilight. It was the same gold ticket Princess Celestia gave them last time they went to Canterlot.

"I guess she was listening to you.", she told David.

"Maybe. Anyways, I should tell the other two about this and maybe rent a suit for Thomas while Charles is stuck in that tuxedo.", he said and left the library.

"Morning, sir. What are we going to do today?", Charles was the first one greeted him.

"We are going to do nothing because you two just got your ticket to the Gala tonight!"

The two looked at each other and back at David before Charles spoke up, "...The what now?"

"Oh, I forgot that you two don't even know a bit of anything about the event. Let's just say that the Grand Galloping Gala is a big event and you two are intending."

"An event, eh? I guess this is when the tuxedo comes into the play.", Charles said while making him look nice in the suit he was wearing.

"You and your fancy suit, I still wondered why you would wear a tuxedo to a training, and I still wondered why your suit doesn't have any scratches on it when the wolves attack!", he questioned Charles

"Who knows, maybe this suit was made to be indestructible or maybe the materials are super durable.", Charles replied.

"Let's not talk about that too much. But for now, I'm going to get Thomas a suit for tonight.", David said and told them to follow him to the boutique.

Rarity's Boutique

"Rarity, are you home?", David asked to see if there was anybody home since there is a big 'CLOSE' sign in front of the door.

"I'm sorry, but we're close today. Come back again later!", Rarity said from the inside.

"Rarity, it's me, David. I need to rent a suit for tonight's party!", David knew this is the only way to get Thomas a suit.

David heard a few hoof-steps before seeing the door opened by Rarity.

"Oh my, I didn't knew you were bringing your friends here. You are renting a suit for you friends, am I correct?"

"Actually, Thomas is the only one that needed it the most. Me and Charles already had one if you can tell.", David told Rarity.

Rarity looked at Thomas like she did with David the last time he went to her shop. Thomas noticed that she was trying to charm her with her eyes.

"Is there something on my face that is making me look funny? Or you are just looking at me weird?", he knew why she was looking at him strangely but he asked her just for a good measure.

"Am I not allowed to look at somepony or should I say "somebody" who is absolutely gorgeous looking?", she said and still looking at him with her charming eyes.

David chuckles because that was the same thing she did to him, he broke up the two, "Okay, Rarity. We're only here asking you for a suit, not flirting with Thomas, so can we get one now?"

"Of course, dear! It will be like the last time. I take your measurements and your suit will be ready in no time. Are you ready to go, Thomas? Okay, follow me!", Rarity didn't even let Thomas answer. She used her magic and dragged his hand across the room. He looked at the other two and opened his mouth. David saw that he tried to scream 'Help!' but he ignores that and laugh.

After a few moments, Thomas walked out of the room with a grumpy face. He was mad about the fact that David didn't told her to ask him to go with her instead of dragging him all over the floor.

"What's the matter, Thomas? Not your type of lady to talk to?", he said while holding his laugh.

"I'm not mad about that. I'm mad about you not telling her not to drag me. And being dragged is something you don't want.", Thomas responded and continue to walk out of the store.

"Relax, Thomas! She's just doing that because she thinks you're handsome and that's great. You should talk to her tonight. I heard that the last time she attended the Gala, some knobhead just happens to be there and broke her heart into bits. I want someone to cheer my friends up and you are the one who is going to do that.", he said while remembering what Rarity had told him about 'Prince' Blueblood, he asked himself time to time to even figure if he's a prince or not.

"But why me? Remember about the fact that I'm just a dummy and not a real human and have no experiences of talking to others especially ladies? What do you think will work out for me?", Thomas replied while trying to refuse to have a conversation with Rarity.

"Who knows! Maybe if you try to talk to her tonight, you might be able to make her happy."

Thomas didn't say anything but sighed and nodding his head, that means that he has agreed on trying to talk with Rarity and making her happy. But that doesn't mean Charles is not going to do the same.

"Charles, you are in on this too."

"What? Are you serious?! I maybe wearing a suit like a gentleman but that doesn't mean I'm romantic!"

"You don't have to be romantic to talk to a lady. And you can't just stand around with nothing to do. Just talk to someone instead of standing and looking like nobody.", David was trying to determined to get these two a lady and he succeeded. Charles went for it anyways since standing still and doing nothing wasn't his option.

"Great! Now then let's go somewhe-", before he could continue, David felt something covering his eyes.

David panicked and started screaming, "What is it?! What is it?! Get it off me! Is it a spider?!". He began to gain back vision and looked behind him, it was no other than Rainbow Dash.

"Calm down, David! I didn't knew you were scared of spiders that much!", she said and began to laugh at her attempt to scare him.

"Maybe I should check my back more often. I can't take these pranks anymore.", David said while hyperventilating. Having arachnophobia wasn't really a nice thing to have considering spiders are terrifying.

"I can't help but to do that whenever I see you, David. Anyways, are you pumped up about tonight?", she asked him.

"Is that even a question? Of course I am pumped up about the party tonight! I honestly can't thank you enough for inviting me."

"Hey, that what friends do right? You scratched my back and I'll scratch yours.", she said and gave David a light punch on the arm.

"I think we should go and prepare for the big night and we'll meet again at the train station. Sounds good?", he told Rainbow. She responded with a salute and flew off.

Thomas and Charles looked at each other before one spoke up, "Is she the reason why you are giving me the part of making Rarity happy instead of you doing it yourself?"

David looked at them and responded, "Maybe."

The two just didn't ask any further questions since they have already gotten the answer they needed.

Several hours later.

"Come on, David! We're gonna be late for the train! Pick up your pace!", Twilight shouted at David who is clearly getting ready for the Grand Galloping Gala.

"Hold the phone, Sparkles. I need to do a finishing touch before going.", David replied.

After a few moments, David walked down stairs with the same suit he wore when he took Rainbow out for dinner. He spotted Twilight at the door wearing a sparkling purple dress.

"You look just like a Princess, Twilight...", he realized what he had said, "...oh wait, you are a Princess."

Twilight giggle and responded, "Thanks, David. But you have to keep your compliments for somepony else if you know what I'm saying.", she winked at him, implying that he should say that to Rainbow.

"Oh sod off. I'm not going to compliment Dash only, I'll say the others are absolutely beautiful when I see them.", he said while hiding his light blush.

"Whatever you say, Mr. Romantic.", they both walked out of the library and meet with Thomas and Charles. Charles was still wearing his tuxedo, but Thomas, he was different than ever after putting on the suit that David had bought for him.

"Looking fresh like a gent, Thomas. Ready to head off to the station?", David said and all of them nodded. They proceed to the train station without anybody saying anything while going.

Ponyville's Train Station

All of them reached the station within minutes, they saw the others were there as well. Rarity was the one that spotted them first.

"Oh my goodness! You four look absolutely wonderful! I wonder who was the one that made you those clothes."

"Nice one, Rarity. I thank you for sewing us these amazing suits and dresses. I don't know how you did it but you did an astonishing job preparing these clothings. Also, all of you look magnificently gorgeous.", David complimented Rarity and the other, giving all of them a small blush, especially Rainbow, who's blush seems so be a lot clearer.

"Enough with the chit-chatting, it's time for us to party!", said the pink pony. All of them laughed before going into the train heading off to Canterlot.

The Grand Galloping Gala

The trip to Canterlot was a lot faster than the last time. At the entrance of the Gala, David saw what seems to be more than hundreds of ponies attended to this party. Every step he took, he had a strange feeling that something bad was going to happen.

"Are you okay, David? You seem a little bit off. Is there something wrong?", Fluttershy was the one who noticed this.

"I'm fine, Fluttershy. Just a little bit nausea, nothing too serious.", David responded.

"The party's not even started yet and yer feelin' tired already? I think ya should sit down for 'while before you collapse somewhere in this huge place.", Applejack said.

"I'm gonna go and get a chair and stay next to him incase he suddenly black out or something.", Rainbow volunteer and flew off. Thomas and Charles were also concerning about David having this weird sickness.

"Are you sure you alright, David?", Charles was the next one who asked the same question everyone was asking.

"I said I'm fine. You guys should stop worrying about me and do the thing I told you both to do.", David whispered to them and they nodded in respond and left David alone.

Rainbow returned to David and told him, "Hey, I found a comfortable couch, let me carry you there and we'll have a chat to make yourself better. Okay?". David sighed and followed Rainbow to the couch. They finally reached the couch and both began to sit down. Rainbow started the conversation.

"I know you're not actually sick, David. So tell me what's the problem?"

"How could you tell I'm not sick or anything?"

"I knew you too well to know if you're sick or not, David. Tell me the reason, now."

David can't help but to tell her the truth, "I miss my family, Dash. I can't help but to think of my wife. This party reminded me about the time I met her in a party at someone's house. I was partying with my friends until she came up into my view. My mind was completely clear and I was thinking about nothing but her. She came into my life that day, and now, I lost her. That's the reason why I feel down when I first step into this place."

Rainbow felt bad for him after hearing that, losing a love one is not an easy thing to forget. She tried to make his pain go away by hugging him tightly. David gestured himself and return the hug. The two broke the hug after five seconds, David shed a few tears but whipped them all off.

"Come on, Dash. We're here to have fun, not to cry a river. Let's go back to the others and enjoy the rest of the night, shall we?" , David stood up and offered her a hand and lift her up, walking her back to the others. They went back to the party and the first thing David saw was Thomas talking to the white unicorn like David told him to. Surprisingly, he managed to squeeze out a few giggles out of her. He looked to his left and saw Charles was doing the same thing with the rest of the mares.

"Seems like everything is going as planned", David mumbles to himself.

Rainbow heard him and asked, "What was that?"

"Nothing. What shall we do tonig- OOF!", before he could complete his sentence, he walked right into somepony, "Oh I'm sorry mis- Cadastra?!"

"Oh hey, David! I didn't knew you were attending to this event, who invited you?", Cadastra asked.

"Well as you can see, this is the one that invited me here.", he stepped aside revealing Rainbow to Cadastra.

"It seems like you got invited by one of the Elements. Guess what, I got invited by Pinkie!"

He didn't believe her at first, "What? How did you... no way."

Cadastra chuckles and said, "You better believe me David. I have been a good friend of Pinkie for a while now and that might be the reason why she invited me."

Before David could respond to that, two pegasus came hovering above them, it happened to be the two brother that accidentally greeted him with force, "David! My gosh are we glad to see you!", Cirrus said.

"You guys too?! Who invited you here?", David asked.

"Nobody actually invite us, David. We broke in here. Some of the guards were pretty sloppy at their jobs so we took the advantage and sneaked right in.", Knight responded but then spoke up again, "Holy mother of Celestia is that a fountain of chocolate?!", he spotted the fountain filled with liquid chocolate dripping down and Knight just instantly flew over it.

Cirrus laugh before telling them, "I need to go and stop him before he gets diabetes. I'll see you guys around!"

"I'm gonna go and talk to Pinkie about something. I'll talk to you later, David.", she said and walked away from the two, leaving them alone again.

David returned to Rainbow and said, "I can't even believe that they got their way into this! Can you believe it Dash?"

"I can't believe it either! They are so lucky to be here right now. Anyway, as we were talking, what did you say to yourself back there?"

"Uhh...oh look! There's Celestia!", he successfully dodged the question and pointed at Celestia who was standing on a platform, looking like she was readying for a speech. And she definitely was readying for a speech.

"Good evening, everypony. Welcome to this year's Grand Galloping Gala!", she said and all of the attenders cheered, "Okay, settle down, everypony. Now all of you know why you are here. You're here to enjoy the finest and the biggest event ever held in Equestria and you ponies are the lucky ones who has been invited to this party. Many others weren't as fortunate as you all. What I'm saying is I hope you all enjoy every second of this party. And here is a song that will make everypony wants to dance, grab your partner because I would like to welcome none other than The Melody.", she ended her speech and four ponies walked onto the nearby stage. David immediately thought that orchestra looked very similar to the ones in movies in a ball event.

'This is going to be interesting.', he thought to himself and turned back to Rainbow, "Hey Dash, you want to have a dance with me?", he said as he gave out his hand.

"But, I can't dance. Especially the one where you just move around in circles.", Rainbow responded.

"You thought I know how to dance? You think wrong, I don't even have any knowledge of dancing, so we'll improvise when we get there. Trust me, Dash. I promise, you won't regret this.", he was trying to convince her to dance with him. She didn't said anything but instead, she smiled and took his hand and pulled him into the dance floor.

"C'mon big guy! Let's see if you got those fancy feet moving!", Rainbow said mockingly

"Alright, stand on your hind legs.", David said and Rainbow followed, "You hold my and and I hold your ha- I mean hoof, and then we swing around the floor with the music going through our ears.", Rainbow and David danced through floor, their movements were swift and light as a feather. They were the center of everypony's attention, their moves made everypony around them drop their jaws in amazement. The music finally died down after a long ten minute, both of them ended up stopping with David's chest meeting Dash's.

"Well, that was the quickest learning session ever. You are a fast learner, Dash, I have to admit that.", David said while looking at her sparkling cerise eyes.

"Yeah, I get that a lot.", she said while still keeping eye contact to him, "David, I need to tell you something secret. Something that I have never told anyone about this."

"Hmm?"

"I-", before could start, all of the light source sent out instantly. Suddenly, it started to rain. Thunders were starting to hit the surface. Everypony was screaming and shouting at things in a chaos.

Celestial tried to calm them down but it was no use. Suddenly, deep voice could be heard outside the rain, it was loud enough to pierce through the sound of the rain.

"Good evening David.", David recognized the voice, it was Sombra's voice, "it seems like you are early to your own funeral."

'Oh bollocks, he's here already?', David thought to himself and shouted, "Where are you?! Show yourself and leave these innocent ponies alone!"

The light from the chandeliers began to light up normally, David looked and saw Sombra with his pony form, the shadow clouds beneath his feet were fading as he touches the ground of the Castle.

"Oh how comfortable it is to stand on the floor of the castle. I've been waiting for this moment for a long time. After I'm done finishing you up, the rest of your friends will join you later, starting with your little mare-friend.", Sombra told David and began to look at Rainbow.

"Sombra?! How in the hay did you got here? We defeated you!", Twilight shouted.

"You thought I was dead? Think again, foolish pony. I have been living amongst other planets and now I have finally return to my home."

"Come on girls! If we defeated him once, we can do it again. We just need to hit harder than before.", the mares stand side to side, except Rainbow, who was still standing on David's side.

"Oh how you fools make me laugh! You can't kill me, I'm immortal! And all of you will be dead under my hooves if you dare to stop me.", Sombre said.

"Oh no, you're not going to harm anyone again. Not if I'm still standing, you will have to walk over my cold human body to get to them.", David said while slowly pushing Rainbow back to the others.

"And ours.", Thomas and Charles joined in.

"Looks like you have your friends with you. Guess what, I do to.", Sombra responded. The shadow from his horn began to spread out in the floor. Suddenly, dark and shadow ponies emerge from the ground up like dead people coming to live.

David was shocked after seeing his ability to summon his minions. He quickly told Rainbow, "Dash, I need you and your friends to evacuate everyone out of the castle. We'll stay here and stop him. Whatever you do, do not come back here."

"No! I will not leave you here!", Rainbow said while tightly squeezing his hands while starting to shed a few tears.

"Don't worry, Rainbow. We can take this bloke down easily. All I need you to do what I said and I need you to trust me.", he kneel down and whip the tears off her eye, "I'll be back before you even know it. Now go, there is no time for us to argue."

Rainbow nodded and told the rest if the mares to evacuate the entire party. David stood up and ready to face the one that once ended his life.

"What now, sir?", Charles asked.

"The only thing we do is either right or chew gum. And I'm out of gum. That means CHARGE!", David shouted and ran full speed at Sombra, Thomas and Charles followed soon afterwards. The party began to evacuate quickly, David knew this is his only chance to save this kingdom and his wife. Sombra's minions were fierce, quick and powerful. Most of them got to David within seconds despite being far away. He, Thomas and Charles were doing everything to stop them from reaching outside the outside of the castle where he told Rainbow to evacuate.

After a long moment of endless fighting, Sombra's minions were slowly dying down to the point that there were nothing else standing beside him.

"Is that all you've got you pathetic king? Why don't you come down here and fight us? Or you don't want to get your hands dirty?", David took the risk and taunted Sombra.

"You want me to fight you? Suit yourself then.", his pony body was transforming into a shape of a human, "This is comfortable. Now then, let's fight, shall we?"

With no hesitation, Thomas and Charles charge up first. They punch, kick but nothing was damaging him, every punch they gave, Sombra just blocked it completely. Sombra whacked both of them to a nearby wall.

"Okay, that bloody hurts.", Charles said before slowly standing up, Thomas did the same, trying all of their best to stand not fall down again. David smiled at the two's nerves of steel, willing to fight by his side until they fall.

"You can make us fall, Sombra. But you will never beat us.", David said and lunged at Sombra, giving him a full blow in the face and knocked him out into the rain. The three walked out there where Sombra was standing.

"Good job, David. You managed to damage me. But you doings were so little it barely make a scratch."

"Oh really? I guess you haven't taste the power of a British yet. Now this is your last chance to surrender, you leave this planet alone or we'll end it here with force.", David said.

"Surrender? Me? Not by any chances. You can take your words and shove it down your throat."

'Have it your way.', he thought to himself. Before David could react, Sombra was right in front of him, he lift David up and threw him into the wall. David quickly recovered and started to unleash multiple punches to Sombra. Thomas and Charles join him by taking turns to damage him. David shoved Sombra to Thomas, who gave him a blow so hard it knocked him upwards into the air, before he could landed, Charles jumped on his body and used it as a pillow to catch his fall. Sombra landed hard onto the concrete floor with no movements. David let out a sighed, knowing that Sombra has been defeated. But he was wrong.

"You... just make a big mistake!", Sombre shouted and immediately knocked them all into a column. They broke through the column and landed inside another wall. David was the first one to get up but he didn't saw the other two. He looked to his side and saw that they were unconscious, he tried to locate Sombra to know that he was nowhere to be found. Suddenly, he appeared out of nowhere in front of David, delivering a strike hardly to his gut. David grunted in pain, he cannot fall now, many lives were counting on him.

"You are just a human, David. I'm a god! You can't kill someone who is immortal, didn't they taught you about not disrespecting a king? You are gonna die and I will rule the entire Equestria!", Sombre said while lifting David up, throwing him out of the rain once more. David was getting weaker and weaker, he didn't have the strength and power to stand up and fight him. Sombra was getting closer to him. Suddenly, Rainbow was at the door of the room, she came back for him. She saw that David was getting beaten to death, she couldnt do anything to Sombra, David noticed a tear ran down her cheek. Her appearance gave David the motivation to fight, he remembered the thing Charles has said to him, 'Think about your family, think about your wife.'

Sombra raised up his fist and whispered, "Your life ends here. Time to die!". He used all of the force and aim straight for the chest, instead of feeling his fist penetrating David's body, Sombra looked and saw that his punch was blocked by David.

"Not today I won't.", David stood up and shoving Sombra back, "This is for killing me.", David punched him right in the face, "This is for hurting my friends.", he hit him again in the stomach, "And this is what you get for touching my wife!", David raised his right foot and kicked Sombra right in his private part.

"No... this is... not happening.", Sombre tried to talk while still holding the pain he just received.

"It is happening, Sombra. You shouldn't have done this, now you are here, defeated once more. I have one more word before ending you: Checkmate.", David said as he deal the finishing blow to Sombra, making him turned into dust and dissolve into the clear night sky.

"I need to sit down.", he said to himself and immediately fall down the floor. Rainbow quickly flew to him, holding him up and tried to make him stay awake.

"Nononono, you're not sleeping, David. Please stay awake!", her eyes were forming tears, they slowly roll down her face.

"Don't worry, Dash... I'm still alive... I guess. Can you tell me the secret like you were going to before that guy just happen to show up?", David said while giving her a heartwarming smile.

She smile back at him and responded, "The secret that I was going to tell you was: I love you, David. I love you since the day we talk and I feel like you were the perfect guy for me to hang out. You are funny, interesting, I mean, you are too perfect to be real. I can't tell you how much I love you, David."

David couldn't stop smiling at her, he spoke up, "I thank you for telling me what you feel about me. Now if you excuse me, I need to take a nap."

David slowly exhale and closing his eyes, Rainbow were concerning if he was dying or not, "No! Don't die on me, David. Don't leave me.", her tears began to fall like a waterfall. Suddenly, she heard multiple hoof-step coming at her, she turned around and saw Cadastra, Knight and Cirrus.

"Guys?! What are you doing here?", Rainbow asked while letting out a few sniffles.

"We followed you, Dash. We couldn't just leave David here. What happened to him?", Cirrus asked.

"I don't knos, guys. I think he's... gone.", Rainbow said.

"Hold on, we can't know that for sure. We need someone who can confirm it.", Knight said.

"I can do it,l. I used to take medical training for emergency purposes. Allow me.", Cadastra volunteered, she checked this pulse. A few minutes flew by and the answer has been confirmed, "He's alive. We need to find help quick!"

"We think we can help carrying out of this place.", Thomas and Charles finally recover from the hit. They move towards David and carry him out of the castle.

David did it. He finally avenge his his death and his wife. Now the trouble was out of the way. There is a surprise waiting for him.

Author's Note

We made it guys! We made it to the final chapter of this small story! With Sombra gone, we can move on to make David's life even better. Also, I'll be posting the epilogue in a few days so stay tuned to that.
