"BallOOn..."
Pinkie Pie's front hoof started to expand, taking on a rubberized sheen. The Marines could only watch in amazement; a pony with a Cutie Mark was rare in the West Seas. The Marine Captain held his ground, giving the pink Earth pony a nasty look. Without warning, Pinkie leapt at the Marine captain, inflated hoof outstretched.
"BURST!!!"
As her hoof connected with the Captain, a violent explosion of air was released from the point of impact, bursting forth from the pony's popped hoof. The Captain was momentarily stunned, then thrown backwards. The attack hit him with the force of a point-blank shotgun blast, and he began to leak blood from his nose.
"Captain!!" A nearby Marine called out. A few others rushed to his aid. The pink pony giggled loudly, proud of her handiwork.
"Oopsie! Sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you THAT bad!" She said, turning back to the reason she was here the wingpony, Rainbow Dash, her wings tied down to her body, and the rest of her tied to a single, unassuming pole in the middle of an unassuming Marine base.
"Let's get you out of here, silly! You're going to become my first crewmate, Rainbow Dash!" Pinkie said as she began to work on Rainbow's binds.
"Crewmate? Don't tell me you're a pirate! I can't be seen working with a pirate. My mentor-"
"Shut up! If you won't become my crewmate, I'll leave you here with the Marines!"
Dash stopped. She definitely didn't want to stay with the Marines. They were just as likely to ship her off to some prison as they were to release her. And she definitely couldn't do anything with her wings bound like this. It seemed she had no choice; she was going to have to go with this enthusiastic pink Earth pony, at least for now.
"Fine. I'll become your damn crewmate. But first you have to get me out of here, alright?"
"I was already doing that, you goofy Pegasus! There, now-"
With her wings freed, Dash unfurled them to their full wingspan, flying straight up into the air. Silhouetted against the sky, she shot a grin to her savior.
"Awesome! I'm free to fly again! Now let's get out of here!"
The Marines had recovered from Pinkie's earlier attack, and they adjusted their head cannons to aim at the Pegasus pony. The Captain, also a Pegasus, flew up into the air, jabbing a hoof at their opponent. "Shoot her out of the sky! Don't let her attack you!"
Dash's grin grew even wider. She was in the perfect position for dealing the decisive blow. She began to quicken the pace of her wings flapping, until they were merely a blur.
"Dashwing..."
She allowed herself to begin falling towards the marines. As she fell, she began to twist her body in a spiral pattern. Eventually, it was impossible to see the blue Pegasus; in her place was a drill-shaped, rainbow-colored mass of air.
"DIVE!!!"
"Fire!!"
The Marines on the ground fired their cannons at the swirling rainbow drill, to no avail. Their shots simply bounced off of the wingpony's vicious spinning body. Dash slammed first into the Captain, and then into the group of Marines on the ground. An enormous dust cloud kicked up all around the impact site, clouding the damage that had been done.
Pinkie bounced up and down enthusiastically, clapping her hooves with delight. "Wow! Dashie, that was amazing! You've gotta be on my crew! You just gotta!"
As the dust cleared, Pinkie saw Dash standing proudly in the middle of a pile of defeated Marines. She slowly furled her wings back to her side, brushing off her chest with her hoof.
"Yeah, it was pretty impressive, wasn't it? I'm the best wingpony in the West Seas! Rainbow Dash!"
Dash struck a pose, which only caused Pinkie to jump up and down harder.
"So cool! Come on, Dashie, let's get out of here!"
Pinkie leapt into the air, towards a nearby fence. As she sailed through the air, she inflated all four of her hooves. As she landed, she bounced much higher than before, easily clearing the fence. Dash just looked at her, bewildered.
"Come oooon, Dashie!" Pinkie called back, beckoning her with a hoof. "My rowboat is just over this hill!"
"Just what kind of a Cutie Mark power is that, anyway..?" Dash wondered aloud, reluctantly following her new captain.

Pinkie giddily leapt off the rowboat, landing on the beach of a brand new island. Dash wriggled her leg, eventually separating the rope from her foot. She, too, landed squarely on the beach next to Pinkie.
"Wee! We're finally here! I wonder what kind of adventure we can have on THIS island?" Pinkie said. She began to bounce ahead of Dash, a goofy smile plastered on her face.
"Pinkie, we ought to try and at least get a boat while we're here, you know," Dash piped up, lifting herself back up off the ground to follow the Earth pony. "I'd rather not carry that boat anymore, even IF you don't weigh very much."
"Ooh! Yeah, that's a great idea! Let's get a boat! Oh, and we should get a navigator too. Oh! And some food! Then we should get a cook, and a musician, and-"
"Pinkie!"
"Look! Look! Dashie, it's a giant whirlpool!"
"I- Wha? What are you..."
Dash caught up to the rowdy Earth pony, who had just bounced to the top of a hill. As Dash peeked over the crest, she caught a full glimpse of the island they had landed on.
In the very center of the otherwise unremarkable island raged an enormous whirlpool. The lake it was contained in was so large that it gave the island they were standing on a donut shape. A few small towns were scattered around the very edge of the whirlpool, with the largest being just down the hill from where the two ponies stood. Pinkie was the first to pipe up.
"Oh my gosh! I bet they have LOADS of great food down there! Come on, Dashie, let's go!"
Dash groaned, having remembered the promise she made to her captain. She hoped that, at least, Pinkie was right.

Elsewhere on the island, a young purple dragon with green scales in his teenage years is taking a stroll in the marketplace of Inu Town. He's out on an errand for his father. The young dragon has already gathered up a few fruits in his meager pack, and now he searches for some vegetables to purchase.
The young dragon decides to take a shortcut across the marketplace. He turns inconspicuously into an alleyway just off the side of the main road. The young dragon knows it's dangerous; pirates like to hang out in the alleyways where they won't be spotted by the town guards. But the young dragon thinks he can handle himself.
"Well well well, look what we've got here!"
The young dragon stops dead in his tracks. He turns around slowly.
"The son of the dread pirate Attor, huh? And just what're you doin' out all by your lonesome on this fine day, little kid? Shouldn't you be at home with daddy?"
The young dragon simply dropped his pack and adopted something of a traditional martial arts fighting stance. He gave the pirates a bit of a nasty look, to which they responded with an outburst of laughter.
"Ha! What, a little kid like you is gonna take on me and all of my Firedog Pirates? You don't stand a chance, little kid! You aren't even fully grown!"
It was true; the Firedog Pirates were all dragons in at least their fifties. Whereas our young dragon stood at perhaps five feet in height, with gangly arms, the Firedog Pirates stood at least an imposing eight feet in height, with fully formed, rock-hard scales, and arms that would put a professional bodybuilder to shame. They even had the beginnings of wings upon their back.
"I'll take all of you on! I'm not afraid of you!" The young dragon yelled, in his most intimidating voice possible.
The pirates let out another barrage of laughter. They unsheathed their swords, moving in on the young dragon.
A flash of intuition. A flap of the wings. What's that in the sky? It can't be! He always stays in his cave!
The young dragon and the Firedog Pirates both looked up at the same time. Looming just above them, hardly visible through the crack between the buildings, was the Great Dragon Pirate, Attor.
A loud, bellowing sound echoed out throughout the town. "LEAVE SPIKE ALONE."

As Pinkie and Dash approached the town, they spotted something in the sky above.
"Ooh, Dashie, look! Up above us! Is that what I think it is!?" Pinkie said, pointing enthusiastically with a hoof.
"Oh man, I think it is, Pinks." Dash replied. She grabbed onto Pinkie with all four hooves, allowed her to drop her weight, then lifted her into the air so they could both get a better look.
"Oh my gosh, it is, it is! It's a real live dragon! Maybe this is a dragon island, Dashie! That means they'll have a marketplace just jam PACKED with food!"
"Yeah, and it also means they probably have at least a few good navigators. Looks like we're in luck today. Do you wanna head down there now?"
"You bet! Let's go meet some dragons!! Mush mush!"
Dash looked down at Pinkie with a sour look. Pinkie grinned back. Dash just threw the Earth pony forward, letting her wiggle her legs in the air a little bit.
"Agh! Come on Dashie, not cool!" Pinkie spun about in the air, unable to control her weightless body.
"Quit goofing off, you balloon weirdo! We have to get supplies!"
Pinkie huffed, returning her body to her natural state and landing on the ground with a soft 'floomp.' The captain and her crewmate continued on to Inu Town, where dragons and adventure awaited them.
