You may wishView Online'Twas only a dreamYou may wishMy eyes opened slowly to reveal my room as I woke. The gray-blue walls matching the silvery light from the cloud covered sky from my window, making everything dull and grey in color. For awhile I just laid there. Listening to the soft downpour from outside. But I had to get up. I groaned softly as I sat up and rubbed the sleep from my eyes. The clothes I picked out yesterday from my dresser still sat on top of the wooden piece of furniture. I groggily left my bed and pulled on the clothes before shuffling into the bathroom. I turned on the sink and let the cold water flow, throwing some onto my face to wake up further. I looked up at the mirror and just stared at my reflection, my deep brown eyes staring back at me, "Morning Brandon. Jesus... you look like hell". My lack of sleep was painfully obvious, I had dark circles under my eyes and my long dark hair hung down the sides of my head in tangled knots. I found little sleep nowadays, not with homework and essays being handed out every day from school. Finished with the bathroom I headed downstairs, pulled out a box of cereal, watching as the dried flaked fell into the empty bowl I had set out. I ate in silence, not a single word was spoken. Probably because there was nobody to speak to. My adoptive parents never were early risers, even though the son who they had gone through so much trouble to get, was late to the bus on multiple occasions until he learned the secret of caffeine. I left a note on the countertop before grabbing my things and slipping out the door, making sure to pick up the spare key on my way. It's also very common for my parents to lock me outside in the afternoons. The day had passed quickly and as usual left me with an overwhelming amount of homework and essays that I was never gonna get done and I sulked as I got on the bus to take me home, walking to the back and slumping in a seat. I scowled angrily out the window as I thought of all the essays and worksheets I had to complete in the span of twelve hours. In my current state of sulky-ness, I failed to notice the footsteps behind me until the culprit made themselves known be cautiously tapping me on the shoulder. "Hey are you ok?", a soft voice broke my concentration and I turned to face the one who dared to violate my brooding moment. I turned to find the perpetrator had somehow taken the form of someone I couldn't hit in order to relieve my anger. A short skinny girl stood in the isle between the seats, her long brown hair fell down well below shoulder length and her eyes were covered in a pair of thick rimmed glasses, a joyous sparkle seemingly glowing within the depths of the her magenta irises. My scowl softened as I returned my focus to the window, "I'm fine", my voice sounded harsh and scratchy as I pulled the hood of my jacket over my head. The girl simply nodded and sat down in the seat across from me, pulling out her phone and plugging in a pair of earbuds. We didn't talk the rest of the bus ride. As I walked into my room I finally cracked. My backpack slid off of my arm and fell to the floor. I stumbled to my bed and just laid there, my eyes staring blankly at the ceiling above. Was this it? Is this how my life is gonna be... Forever? I didn't even realize I was crying until all I could see were blurred colors through the tears. I rolled onto my side and closed my eyes. I wish... I just wanna start over... With a new life... And leave this one far, far behind... I could just barely hear the door to my room being opened as darkness filled my vision and I let myself fall into sleep's cold embrace. Author's Note Yes changes will be made grammar and story-wise. It will probably start getting longer as I refine the details. We can only go up from here!
You may dream (Part 1)View Online'Twas only a dreamYou may dream (Part 1)Brandon yawned as he woke, opening his eyes to see a great expanse of green. The field of moderately tall grass gave way to a dark forest in the distance, a golden sunset lighting up the evening sky. He noticed that he was in fact sitting under a large tree, the branches sprawling up and away, creating a patch of shade for him to lie in. Glancing around he saw a small pegasus filly sitting about three feet from him, she had a soft purple coat and a brown mane that drifted in the wind as she stared out into the field from the shade of the oak. The purple pegasus pony yawned and caught sight of Brandon as she turned slightly. Her magenta eyes sparkled as she smiled at him, "We should probably get back, it's gonna be dark soon", she said as she glanced back at the setting sun. Brandon was confused for a second, "Get back? Get back to where?", he cocked his head as he spoke. His confusion was apparently funny and the filly beside him giggled as she stood up. "Hello? Equestria to Harmony? We've gotta go home remember? Oh come on silly!", Brandon was jerked to his hooves when the purple pegasus suddenly latched onto his front hoof and lifted into the air, her premature pegasus wings flapping furiously in her effort to drag Brandon up before landing next to him and shoving him lightly, "Ok now come ooooon!", while pushing him from behind. A sudden look of dark mischief drifted into her eyes and the colt beside her shivered in fear of what to come... "Tag! You're it!",she slapped Brandon on the shoulder just before she bolted off, leaving a very confused orange unicorn colt in her wake. And Brandon WAS very confused, but he knew one thing. A nagging in the back of his mind that reminded him of the tradition of old; never lose a game of tag... And soon he too was racing along behind the pegasus, struggling to catch her as the purple filly used her wings to boost her speed. All the while, Brandon was only vaguely aware that he was slowly forgetting, his old memories being replaced by new ones. As he locked his eyes on his purple target, he felt his previous memories melt away in the happiness that he hadn't felt in a long time. Soon knew only that his name was Harmony Bass. He was an orange unicorn that lived in a small village just inside of Whitetail Woods. He knew that he had asked his mom if he and his friend... Soni, yeah. He had asked his mom if he and Soni if they could go out and play for awhile. He remembered his mom had said,"Okay sweetie, but be careful around the forest", before he bolted from the door and sped towards Soni's. Soon all life as a human were forgotten, he only new his life here with his caring mother and his friend Soni. Where he was happy. Author's Note Yes this chapter is EXTREMELY short. I just couldn't find the rest of it in my head at the time. This is why there is gonna be part 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!! Also this is why I am hesitant to put the "Human" tag on it. Only the first and last chapters are going to have them present.Besides the nightmares he may or may not begin to have...
You may dream (Part 2)View Online'Twas only a dreamYou may dream (Part 2)Harmony gasped and panted for air as he stumbled into the front door of his small cottage. It was one of many small homes in the smallish village where he lived. From the front it looked simple enough, a two story building with a door and a single window above it. Inside though, the door opened up into a very homely little room, with a small table set out in front of a small cooking area. Presently in the cooking area was Harmony's mother Erin Heartbeat, when she wasn't around the house she was caring for others in the village as a nurse of sorts, since the village wasn't quite large enough to have a hospital. She was a tan earth pony with a darker tan mane, her emerald eyes always seemed to have a certain joyful sparkle about them. She looked up from what she was doing before smiling warmly at the young colt who wheezed from the doorway. Harmony put a hoof to his chest as he continued his exhausted gasping. After while he stumbled over to the table and plopped down on a stool, his head laying out on the table like a large orange dog. "Did you and Soni have a nice time Harmony? You've been out there for hours", Harmony's mother asked as she brought over the soup she'd been cooking not long ago. Harmony, however, still reached out and levitated a spoonful of the steaming liquid to his muzzle immediately regretting the decision and quickly began chugging the orange juice that he found beside his bowl. Surely, he thought, his tongue had melted off, right? Seeing as his tongue was still very there, Harmony concluded it was safe to speak and responded to Erin's question,"Yeah we had lots of fun! We-". The colt stopped, a look of confusion drifted over his features. What HAD he done before he woke up? Harmony only seemed to remember bolting out his front door on his was to Soni's but, nothing after that. "I- I'm not sure...", he closed his eyes in a last ditch effort to bring up the memory. Nothing. "Honey, is everything alright?", his mothers voice had taken on an edge of urgency. Harmony shrugged his shoulders and shook his head in response. "No it's fine!", he said while giving his mother a thin smile. He could figure this out later,"Me and Soni played tag on the way here, but she always wins! Whenever I get close to getting her she just uses her wings to speed up!", the young colt threw his front hooves up in defeat. Erin simply nuzzled her son before tapping softly on his horn,"Maybe if you practice your using that horn of yours you might not have to chase her at all!", Harmony grinned at the thought. "From what I know about magic, with enough practice, she won't even have a chance". The day had passed quickly and the sky darkened to a deep purple, the stars just barely visible through the window in Harmony's bedroom. The colt was just pulling up the covers when he remembered something, or rather the lack of something. He still couldn't remember anything from before his waking under the tree. As he thought, he was hardly aware of his impending drowsiness until his eyes slid closed and he fell asleep once more. That night he had a nightmare of being bullied in a dull world. And there, in his dream, there was no mother to tell him it was going to be fine. Author's Note Hey guys! Back with the second part of the second chapter! And sorry for the short chapter again. Writing things on your phone tends to shorten things drastically.
