Rarity walked out of the Ponyville train station with Rainbow Dash, expecting to see her friends at the entrance to greet her. Unfortunately, this was not the case. No one was there except for the other passengers exiting the station.

“Hmp. Where do you suppose the others are? I would have expected them to be here and welcome us back.” Rarity said, disappointed by the outcome. “Wouldn’t news of the Wind Rider incident have gotten here by now? It’s been almost two weeks after all.”

Rainbow Dash ponders it for a moment, then quickly gives up,”They are probably just running late Rarity, or have gone to sleep; it IS the middle of the night after all. Anyway, I’m going to Fluttershy’s to check on Tank, see ya later!” Before Rarity could say anything, Rainbow Dash flew off into the distance, leaving dust in her place.

Dusting herself off, Rarity heads back to her own home, talking to herself as she went. “I swear, the nerve that mare sometimes. One of these days we are going to go over basic manners for public interactions.”

Arriving home, she goes inside and turns on the lights. As the room brightens up, she finds herself in front of a large group of ponies.

“SURPRISE!” They yell, many of them popping confetti cannons in the air. Rarity’s eyes beamed with joy as she saw her friends in the midst of the group. Pinkie Pie of course, was the first to rush to her side and greet her.

“Hey Rarity! We read on the news that you helped prove Rainbow Dash’s Innocence recently, so I decided to throw you a ‘Great Job Defending Your Friend From Potentially Going to Prison Surprise Party!’” Pinkie took a deep breathe after explaining her long winded title, and continues talking a million miles an hour. Tuning her out, Rarity greets the others; Fluttershy, Applejack, and Twilight Sparkle. ”Hello darlings, how have things been since I left?”

Applejack spoke up first,"Everything's been mighty quiet Rarity. Aside from the fillies getting into the usual mess," Applejack sighed at the memory of the crusaders latest adventure,"This time they tried gettin’ their Roller Derby cutie marks, and you can imagine how that went."

"Oh my!" gasped Rarity,"Is Sweetie Belle okay? Oh I can't believe my precious little sister would partake in something so...violent."

“Don’t worry too much about it sugar cube. We got everything settled in the end,” Applejack reassured. After all, it did prove less destructive than their attempt at Hoofball cutie marks. “Enough about them though, we are all mighty curious about what happened with this Wind Rider character we read about.”

“And I want an apology!” Pinkie Pie yelled, coming too close into Rarity’s personal space for her own liking,”You should have called me the very second the case came up. I mean, I DID solve the Mystery of the MMM.” She said proudly.

“No you didn’t Pinkie,” Twilight interjected, “I solved the case, YOU made absurd accusations on who did it with no evidence whatsoever!”

“Oh it’s quite alright Twilight, I’m sure she would have been a great help.” Rarity said. She didn’t want Pinkie crazy to prove she was a good detective afterall. Who knows what she would end up doing! “Now, as for the story, I would be more than happy to tell you about it.” Before she could begin her tale however, she remembered something rather important. “Umm...Fluttershy darling, you may want to rush over to your cottage to get Rainbow. She went over there to get Tank, and I don’t think she will want to miss anything.”

Fluttershy replied,“Oh my, I’m so sorry. I’ll go get her right away.” While they waited on them to get back, the others mingled with other guests. Rarity was having a conversation with Torch Song about some new uniform ideas she came up with for the Pony Tones when Fluttershy and Rainbow came back. She waved her bye, and sat at a table with the others a bit separated from the crowd to recount her story. She covered every little detail, with Rainbow adding various exaggerations about how she ‘wasn’t worried’ and ‘didn’t panic in the slightest.’

“...and that is how I foiled Wind Riders dastardly plans!” she concluded. It was well into the night by now, with all the guests having left to sleep, leaving only them to be the only ones at the Carousel Boutique.

Twilight is the first to comment,“Wow, that’s quite the story Rarity. I never took you to be the kind of pony to go investigating a crime.”

“Why of course I would darling,” Rarity said boastfully. “I would do anything to prove my dear friends are NOT crooks. Besides, it was easy with my extensive knowledge on the Shadow Spade novels. You just have to know how to pay attention to detail, and with my skills as a fashion designer, how could I not be right for the job?”

“Oh! Oh! I know!” Pinkie yelled, raising her hoof like a filly in Elementary School. “You should become a full time Private Investigator! Think of all the fun adventures you could go on!”

“Heh heh, yeah Rares. I’m sure y'all could take care of all kinds of crime if ya went full time!” Applejack said jokingly.

Rarity giggles to herself,”Oh dear no, I’m not sure I could handle that kind of work environment…” Although she couldn’t help but imagine herself actually DOING such things! The puzzle solving, the drama, not to mention the wardrobe she could wear! Rarity never did try the rest of those outfits she made…

“Umm...pardon me,” Fluttershy squeaked,”But, its getting really late, and I need to be up early tomorrow. So I think I will be heading home, if that’s okay with you girls of course.”

“Fluttershy is right,” Rainbow said with a yawn. “We should all get some sleep. Got a busy day of weather management anyway.”

They all agreed it was time to rest for the night, and headed off to their respective homes.

“Oh, by the way,” Applejack said as she headed out, “Sweetie Belle and the other crusaders are having a little sleepover at Sweet Apple Acres, so I’ll be bringing her back around noon, that okay with you sugar cube?”

“Oh yes yes, that’s fine. Take care now!” Rarity waved her friend goodbye as she left, leaving her alone with her thoughts. Rarity couldn’t help but daydream of crime solving as she went up to her room. It filled her with joy, and as she thought about it more and more, she was assured of her plans for tomorrow. “You know, maybe I will try private investigating full time…” Rarity climbed into bed, sleep already overtaking her. “It would certainly be a nice change of pace from the norm…”

With that thought lingering in her mind, she fell asleep dreaming of a life of dressmaking and crime solving, the two professions working hand in hand in her everyday life...
