P.I. Rarity
Taking the Role to Heart
Previous ChapterI walked downstairs into the kitchen, a craving for something to eat on my mind. Opening the fridge, I find exactly what I’m looking for.
“So it is you who causes my belly to tremble!” Rarity exclaimed as she pointed toward the carton of eggs. “There is only one punishment fit for a crime such as this, and I think you will enjoy it as much as I do…”
I took 2 of the eggs out of their hiding spot and fired up the stove. Levitating a pan onto the roaring frame; I cracked the eggs on the counter, and spilled their contents into the now sizzling pan. A fine punishment indeed…
After a wonderful breakfast of eggs and juice, Rarity again had the thought of criminal investigation invade her mind.
“Ohh...I just don’t know. Helping Rainbow in her time of need was fun sure, but can I really devote a part of my life doing it full time?” Rarity decided it was time to make up her mind, and made a mental list of the advantages and disadvantages of of moving into the line of work. While it could severely cut into time she spent designing dresses; that time could prove beneficial to her, as it would allow her to rest her creative side, and exercise her critical thinking side.
After about an hour or so of thinking, she came up with her final verdict. Going up to her bedroom, she dug through her luggage to find one of the outfits she she wore while working on Rainbow Dash’s case. It was a particular favorite of her’s out of the entire collection; A berry red trench coat with a rose belt, a rose bow tieing the coat at the collar, and a navy blue Taffeta with rose ribbon.
Putting on the outfit, Rarity went over to a full-body mirror and looked herself over. She looked her reflection dead in the eyes and said to it,”Look out Ponyville, for Detective Rarity is on the scene!” She raised her hoof up in determination, ready to go out and find her first case.
Whatever it may be…
I walk through the streets of Ponyville with purpose. Looking around for the first sign of trouble. As I explored, it seemed that everything nice and peaceful...and it was. Everywhere I turned it was calm and quiet with nothing of interest happening. I searched the streets till around noon and I was ready to give up, until I heard a loud scream coming from the market district.
“OH HOW COULD THIS POSSIBLY HAPPEN TO ME!?” The voice yelled.
“Looks like this day may not be for nothing after all,” Rarity said, rushing over to the scene for her first case as a real detective.
Author's Note
Sorry for the EXTREMELY short chapter
I just wanted to set up the rest of the story. Which has many significant changes from the original plan!
You have noticed already that the Comedy tag has been removed. That is because the direction has changed from a silly 2-3 chapter story, to a long journal telling of the cases Rarity comes across as a detective. A much more interesting story don't you think? ![]()
Anyway, the next chapter promises to be significantly longer. more than both chapter combined! So I hope you all prepare yourselves for Rarity's first case: A Bon Broken.
As always, criticism and ideas are welcome in the comments below. Have a great day! ![]()
