Authors note: haters gonna hate

The preparations were made, and I would leave tonight. The week went by too fast, Twilight and I almost never left the bedroom all week. I didn’t want to go, I didn’t want to lie anymore… I didn’t want to kill. But now the week was over and the day was there, probably the last day I would be in Ponyville.

During the last week I had a visit from Scootaloo who had been spying on the princes while she was making the preparations. It seemed that the plans had been changed, killing Chrysalis wouldn’t be enough, we had to destroy the whole hive. Celestia had made a pocket sized bomb that would be powerful enough to blow up whole Ponyville twice.

She also said, according to Scootaloo that it would be a suicide mission. But that didn’t scare me, I was a fast and good flyer, I would be out there in no time and I could carry Scootaloo easily.

I sighed as the thoughts rushed over me, ‘’I have to go’’ I mumbled and walked up to Twilight and placed my forehead against hers. ‘’I wasn’t allowed to tell you this, but I need to tell you, you need to know’’ I said to the purple mare never breaking eye contact, ‘’there is a new treat to whole Equestria, Queen Chrysalis is making a huge army of changelings. But she is weak, we are going to kill her’’ Twilight her eyes filled with tears and shook her head. ‘’n-no, t-the princes w-would never make such a r-request’’ she mumbled in my mane as I embraced her.

‘’I have to do it Twi, not only for us, but also for the sake of Equestria’’ I said as I lifted her chin with my hoof looking her straight in the eye, ‘’y-you’ll be alright… right’’ she asked with a pleading eyes filled with tears. ‘’I-I’ll be fine’’ I lied, I was certain that something would go wrong, I sense it, but I lied so that she wouldn’t be concerned.

‘’I-I’ll come with you’’ Twilight said in a whisper, ‘’No! you will not’’ I almost yelled, ‘’you will stay here, I’ll be back in around a week, I promise’’ I said sincerely, ‘’p-pinkie pie promise?’’ she whispered. ‘’cross my heart and hope to fly, stick and cupcake in my eye’’ I made the silly motions and made a small smile, ‘’come on Twi, I’ll be back before you even know it’’ I said as I lifted her chin back up again and kissed her.

Her tear filled eyes gazed into mine, ‘’I love you Twi’’ I whispered and planted another kiss on her lips before taking off towards the Everfree forest at the location I told Scootaloo where I would pick her up, I heard her to start sobbing as I flew away, breaking my heart in two.

I landed at the clearing, but no Scootaloo, ‘’hey Scoots where are you’’ I said as I something hit the ground, I looked back and saw that Scootaloo had been in the tree she just leapt out from. ‘’that was way to sappy’’ she muttered as she climbed on my back, ‘’shut up’’ I snapped back, ‘’just fly already, I’m bored’’.

We reached Canterlot after half an hour flying, ‘’so you two all set?’’ Celestia asked, showing no emotion what so ever. ‘’I was born ready’’ Scootaloo said as she jumped up, I just glared at the princes and nodded slowly. ‘’good’’ she said with a small smile now, ‘’there have been a few changes made to the plan, instead on focusing on the Chrysalis you will blow up the whole hive instead’’ Celestia handed me a bag with in it I assumed was the bomb, I took the bag and strapped it to my back.

‘’I wish you a good luck’’ Celestia said and opened the doors behind us, Scootaloo climbed on my back again, I walked through the door and took off in the direction of the hive, what would be at least two whole days of flying until we would get there.

‘’sugarcube, please come out’’ applejack said to the crying voice in the bedroom of the library, ‘’please Twi, you haven’t eaten I two days’’ Applejack opened the door as it got immediately shot back closed and fell into a lock, ‘’leave me alone!’’ a muffled voice yelled, she was probably crying in her pillow. Applejack sighed and sat against the door, after a while the sobbing reduced and the door unlocked.

Applejack walked in slowly, ‘’h-hi there Twi, h-how are you doing?’’ she asked, Twilight shot up and ran towards Applejack and embraced her, ‘’I am so scared AJ, it feels so wrong’’ Twilight sobbed in Applejacks mane, ‘’there there, I’m sure he’ll be just fine, he is a strong pony’’.

It was night, Luna’s moon shining brightly in the star filled sky. We were covered behind a rock on a safe distance, ‘’so what I the plan or approach?’’ Scootaloo asked, ‘’see that ledge up there, it is not well guarded and there is not mush flying in and out from there’’ Scootaloo gasped, ‘’how the hay are you planning to get up there’’ I looked blankly at her and flapped my wings, ‘’ I have no idea, what about we use a train…’’ Scootaloo shrugged it off and climbed on my back, ‘’just fly, trains aren’t that stealthy’’ she joked.

We reached the ledge without being detected, but still there were five guards between us and entering the hive. Scootaloo grasped at her belt and took out five throwing knives, she handed me two, ‘’aim for the vocal cords’’ she whispered. She threw the three knives she held with one hoof, striking three of the guards down with a sickening gurgling sound, I hit them both right between the eyes, also with one hoof, ‘’or the brains…’’ Scootaloo mumbled.

I just killed two ponies, but to be honest I didn’t care, I was used to killing. I dragged the bodied out of sight behind a rock and retrieved the knives, handing them back to Scootaloo, ‘’Scoots, are you okay?’’ Scootaloo was looking at the corpses of the changelings, ‘’first kill huh?’’ she nodded slowly, ‘’listen to me, do not try to get used to the feeling of killing, it will become a curse. Now let’s go!’’ I said and tapped her shoulder.

I stopped at the entrance and looked back, ‘’that’s strange…’’ I mumbled, Scootaloo also looked back, ‘’what is it?’’ she asked. ‘’where is the air traffic’’ I said with a bad feeling and gulped, ‘’come on, on my back. Let’s do this quick and clean’’ Scootaloo climbed on my back, I flew up and into the darkness of the hive with the orange filly on my back.

‘’Please Twi sit down for a while, you are making me dizzy’’ spike muttered at the pacing unicorn. ‘’There is something wrong Spike, I can feel it’’ she said as tears welled up in her eyes, ‘’please, I’m begging you, go to bed!’’ Spike a pillow on top of his head. ‘’something is wrong’’ she yelped softly.

‘’welcome to my humble little hive’’ a manic voice echoed through the tunnels, my heart sank, I turned around, only finding around a few thousand red glowing eyes staring at me, I turned around again finding the same thing, ‘’let’s have some fun’’ the voice said again as the glowing dots closed in.

Twilight shot awake, she was panting heavily and started to cry, ‘’it looked and felt so real’’ she mumbled, ‘’please Ace come back, please I love you, please’’ Twilight begged and cried herself to sleep.

I woke up tied up to a pole, ‘’well well look who decided to wake up’’ a sickly looking black mare said, ‘’ooh dear where are my manners, let me introduce myself. My name is Chrysalis, but you may call me Queen Chrysalis!’’ she laughed hysterically. I looked around me and had now sight of Scootaloo, ‘’where is the filly!’’ I demanded to know, ‘’on her way back home I guess’’ she answered plainly, ‘’w-what?’’

‘’I let my children chase her for a while, just scare her a bit. But you, you are the key to my revenge. There is now somepony very worried about you, crying herself to sleep Ace, she feels so lonely Ace, she misses you Ace, she loves you Ace…’’ She said the last part with a grin, ‘’very very mush’’

‘’How do you know my name? and how do you know about Twi?’’ she looked straight at me and shot forward, inches away from my face, ‘’Twi as in Twilight, Twilight Sparkle?’’ she asked with a smile, ‘’ooh this I going to be so much more fun now’’ she giggled and started to dance around. I took my chance to feel the bindings around my wrists, they were poorly tied and easy to escape from.

I untied myself and made a run for it, I noticed that I had my back still on, I took the bomb out and set it to twenty minutes. I threw the bomb towards Queen Chrysalis and started running and flapping my wings as hard as I could, an intense pain shot through me as I tried my left wing, it was broken. I felt that I was being levitated, and be pulled back to the center of the room, to the bomb.

A something pierced me through my back, I cough up little spats of blood and looked down, a black horn stuck out form my stomach. ‘’n-no’’ I sputtered out as I fell on the floor, blood was rushing out of the wound, ‘’what is this, a bomb. You disarm it now!’’ she lifted me up again with her magic and shook me around. Her face expression changed to a small grin, ‘’ooh what is this’’ her horn moved to my chest and started to grow brightly green, it moved through my skin as if it wasn’t even there.

I screamed out in pain as she moved her horn in my heart, my vision was fainting and I felt the life being suck out of me. I grabbed her horn with both of my hoofs and tried to push her away in a final attempt, suddenly everything went black.

Twilight was sitting on a park bench in the cold winter rain, a letter lay beside her. ‘’To my faithful student Twilight Sparkle, I am sad to report that the task I gave to your coltfriend Ace has been a failure. His failure didn’t only cost him his life, but also brought whole Equestria in danger. I hope you we be able to coop with this sad news. Princes Celestia’’

She was waiting, today would be the day he would return, but spike gave her the letter when she was waiting in the park at the location they had agreed to meet. She hasn’t moved since, she read the letter. A mixture of rain and tears ran over her face, she took out a scroll and a quill from her bag.

‘’Dear princes Celestia, I am sad to report that I will not be able to coop with the news, and the only pony to blame is you. You knew the risks, you knew that the chance was nil that it would be a success. You, no pony else, you sensed him to his death, by threatening him trough me. I shall no longer accept the title as you student and will no longer report to you about my findings. You ex-faithful student Twilight Sparkle’’

She putted the letter and the quill back in the bag and teleported home, ‘’Spike here now’’ she said and Spike ran of the stairs, ‘’Twilight w-what’s wrong?’’ he said as he saw her face expression. She levitated the note from her saddlebag and levitated it in front of spike, ‘’send it’’.

Spike hesitated, ‘’Twi what was in the letter I brought you this afternoon?’’ he asked with a concerned look, ‘’Spike, send the letter NOW!’’ she demanded. Spike breathed out a small green flame and the letter teleported away, ‘’take care of the library, I’ll be back in a few days’’ Twilight said as she walked out of the door.

‘’Twilight, where are you going, what was in the letter?’’ Spike said and ran after Twilight, Twilight took out a wet piece of paper from her saddlebag and placed it a table before teleporting away. Spike belched and a letter appeared in front of him, addressed to Twilight, he placed it on the table and took the wet piece of paper from it and read it. His eyes shot wide open and her ran towards a desk.

‘’dear princes Celestia, Spike here, Twilight just left the library but she gave me the letter you wrote to her this afternoon. What happened to Ace? Where is Twilight going? Please princes explain, I am very worried about her. Your loyal subject Spike’’

There it was, the hive of Queen Chrysalis, Ace was inside, she knew it. A huge swarm of changelings flew outside, moved to a battle formation and charged towards Twilight. Twilight conjured at huge wall of fire and shot it forward, it scorched most of the changeling to death and those who did survive fell to their death as their wings were burnt away.

She walked inside and illuminated the whole tunnel with her horn, nothing… she continued and heard a lot of noise coming from the center of the hive. She spurted of into a gallop, ‘’T-Twilight’’ she heard suddenly and stopped to look around, ‘’ooh Twilight it is you’’ and purple maned orange filly ran up to he and hugged one of her front legs, ‘’S-Scootaloo’’ Twilight said dumbfounded.

Scootaloo explained the whole situation and the plan to Twilight. ‘’is Ace still alive?’’ she asked to the filly, Scootaloo nodded, ‘’but barely, she is using him for his love, Celestia was wrong again… he does have real pony love’’ Scootaloo said. ‘’but Scootaloo why did you came back?’’ Twilight asked curiously, ‘’he is my partner and I have to save him’’ she exclaimed proudly and pounded herself on the chest. Twilight giggled, ‘’let’s go!’’ she said and spurted off into the darkness with Scootaloo behind her

After a while they found the central room, there were changelings everywhere, and in the center Queen Chrysalis who was with her horn in the chest of Ace. He had a nasty wound in his stomach, ‘’Ace!’’Twilight yelled out, drawing the attention of the Chrysalis, ‘’why does everypony keep disturbing me!’’ she hissed and turned around.

‘’ooh Twilight and the little whelp, how nice to see you again’’ she Chrysalis said with a smirk, ‘’let him go, right now!’’ Twilight demanded. ‘’I’m sorry dear, but this one is even more useful than that pitiful brother of yours and I am forcing nothing, right dear’’ she said and turned to Ace. She kissed him on the mouth and slid her forked tongue in his mouth, ‘’yes… my queen’’ I said in a metallic tone, he opened his eyes, there was no color in it they were completely black.

‘’N-no, Ace wake up! Please’’ Twilight pleaded and tears started to well up in her eyes. ‘’you surely know to pick them Twilight, he surely isn’t a small stallion, if you know what I mean’’ she smirked. ‘’be a dear and kill these two’’ Chrysalis said to Ace, he nodded and jumped to his hooves, ‘’everything for you my love’’ he said again in his metallic voice.

Tears rolled over Twilight her face as she saw the condition of Ace, his right wing was broken, blood was dripping from the wound in his belly as was the one on his back, he was very skinny and he limped. ‘’No’’ Twilight cried out, Ace collapsed and got back up with a struggle. He couched, causing little spats of blood to fly through the air. ‘’Ace?’’ Scootaloo whispered in fear, ‘’die’’ he screamed and hit his hooves through the air, five feet before Twilight and Scootaloo, and fell on his broken wing, causing it to make a sick crunching sound.

He lay still, breathing very shallow with a gurgling sound. ‘’I took it all, all his love and life force’’ I am back at full power now, and there is nothing you can do about it’’ Chrysalis said with a smile, followed by a evil laughter from her and all of her minions, ‘’I’ll be kind to you and break the spell, than you can say some last words to him’’.

Ace his black eyes opened and regained their color, ‘’Ace!’’ Twilight ran towards him and sat next to him, ‘’T-Twi’’ he said between deep breaths, ‘’I’m here, come on get up, please Ace’’ he shook his head weakly. ‘’I can’t Twi, I’m sorry’’ he said in a whisper, ‘’t-the bomb, set the bomb and get out of here’’

I struggled to get up, pain shooting through my body, I had to bite through. I got up, the pain was agonizing, but I had to ignore it. I sighed and flapped my wings slowly, then I one strong beat I used my left wing to jump into Chrysalis, we both went down. I took the bag with the bomb and threw it to Twilight, ‘’set it and go! I love you!’’ I yelled as all of the changeling shot towards me while I was pinning down their queen.

Scootaloo took the bag and set the bomb on one minute, ‘’let’s go Twi, there is nothing we can do’’ (55) Twilight shot in tears and ran towards the buzzing cloud of changelings and started to shoot them one by one with a magical beam (46) they kept coming and attacking Ace, biting and hitting him(30). ‘’Twilight we have to go, only twenty-five seconds left’’(25) Scootaloo yelled. Suddenly a red bloody hoof came out of the cloud and Twilight pulled it, it was only a leg with a white bone sticking out(10) Twilight dropped the leg and ran to Scootaloo, ‘’ Twilight now!’’ the air around them started to spark and they teleported away, ‘’goodbye Ace’’(3) Twilight sobbed.

They teleported outside of the hive at a safe distance and looked at it, the whole structure got sucked inwards followed by a loud bang. Twilight sat up a bubble shield to protect them from the debris that came from the implosion. Twilight started to cry, as did Scootaloo.
