Staring at a star

It has been a month since I lost him, my love. Princes Celestia is now the least favorite princes, Luna now I charge of most of the court hours, the ones that Celestia does give she only gets haters that come to insult her, she had sensed a pony knowing to a certain horrible death.

But his legacy continues for I Twilight Sparkle are pregnant, I discovered it a few weeks after he died. I haven’t told anypony jet, I’ll try to hide it as long as possible. It was a few day after I became Princes Luna her student, she thought me about magic and I thought her how to act normally in public.

I also moved back to Canterlot, so that it would be easier to make my reports to Luna, and the library reminded me to much of him. Every week the six of us, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and i would come together to talk about our week and just have fun.

It was beginning to show, my belly was getting rounder, it has been four months now, I had to tell Spike about my pregnancy. ‘’Spike come over here, w-we have to talk’’ Spike looked questioning at m, ‘’what is it Twilight?’’ he asked. ‘’I-I am pr…’’ I stopped, ‘’proud at me of how good I cleaned up your books’’ I glanced at him, ‘’no Spike… I am pregnant, from Ace’’ I said and looked down at my hooves. ‘’awesome, I’m gonna be a big brother’’ he jumped up and hugged me, ‘’wait a minute, how long have you know… because it has been four months since he… you know’’

‘’A few months’’ I said ashamed, ‘’I am afraid Spike, I’m going to have a foal, and I will have to raise it all by myself… and it will never know his or her father’’ I sighed as I felt tears welling up in my eyes. ‘’who else knows?’’ Spike asked, ‘’you are the only one’’ I responded, Spike blushed proudly. ‘’well, you have to tell your friends’’ he mumbled, ‘’what about I write some invitations around for a party or something and then you’ll tell them’’

The invitations have been sent and the girls would be here within an hour or so. Another week had past, I felt myself glow with pride of my young and insecure by the challenges that were awaiting me, but I was sure that my friends would be there to stand by my side. My thoughts got interrupted by a loud knocking on the door, I opened the door and there was Rarity, fashionably to early, ‘’hi Rarity’’ I said with a smile and hugged her. ‘’hello Twilight, how wonderful to see you again, how are you doing’’ she asked looking a bit concerned, ‘’I’m doing fine, what about you’’. Rarity looked curious at me, ‘’there is something different about you… but I can’t place my hoof on it’’ I smiled awkwardly in response, ‘’you have gotten fa… rounder, but not in your face’’ she smiled and hugged me, ‘’congratulations’’ she said under the hug. ‘’this isn’t a party is it, this is a baby shower’’ Rarity said to me as I started to blush and nodded, ‘’ooh how wonderful… ooh, its Ace’s huh’’ she said to me and I nodded again.

Several moments later the other four came at the same time, Pinkie Pie set up a quick music installation and played some music. ‘’so why hold a party so all of the sudden’’ Applejack asked after a while, ‘’why not, you can always throw a party you silly filly’’ Pinkie Pie interrupted, ‘’well actually no Pinkie Pie, I have an announcement to make which requires celebration’’ I said to the pink party pony, ‘’then tell us!’’ she responded suddenly very interested, she lowered the volume of the music and stood in front of my.

All five ponies in the room stared at me, Rarity gave me a little nod, ‘’girls… I-I am uh well’’, ‘’just say it already’’ Rainbowdash interrupted. I took a deep breath, ‘’girls I’m pregnant’’ Rainbow Dash her mouth fell agape, as did Applejacks. Rarity smiled proudly at me, Pinkie Pie started to jump around cheering, Fluttershy made a *eep* and smiled widely and Rainbow and AJ stood with their mouths wide agape. Applejack closed hers and walked up to me with a smile, ‘’congrats’’ she said as she hugged me.

Everypony congratulated me and hugged me, except for Rainbow Dash who stood there dumbfounded with her mouth still agape, ‘’Rainbow! Say that you are happy for her… you are happy for her right’’ Rarity glared at Rainbow Dash, she nodded then she spoke, ‘’ I am happy for her, but I didn’t expect an egghead like Twilight to do… well you know, the thing you have to do to have a foal’’ I blushed at the comment.

‘’ooh please Rainbow Dash, we are all adults here, and we all did it once. We all know you have to make love to get a foal, and you and Applejack do it all the time!’’ Rarity responded making the couple blush, ‘’wait a minute we didn’t all do it yet… right’’ Rainbow said and looked at Fluttershy who started to blush brightly, Rainbow grinned, ‘’well well, little timid Fluttershy, who was the lucky stallion’’ Fluttershy lowered herself to the ground and covered her eyes with her hooves, causing Rainbow Dash to shoot in laughter.

‘’Do we know him?’’ Applejack asked who was trying to join in on the fun, ‘’well… no… maybe… I guess… yes…’’ Fluttershy whimpered, ‘’just tell us Shy’’ Applejack said kindly. ‘’well it was… uh… well… your brother Big Mac’’ Applejacks mouth fell agape as did Rainbow Dash’s, ‘’you say what now!’’

‘’Girls! We are her for Twilight, not to discuss our sexual adventures’’ Rarity shouted and looked at me, I smiled, ‘’no Rarity it’s okay, it is quite amusing. I didn’t know that Applejack could go this pale’’ I joked and pointed at the shocked Applejack. Rainbow Dash was rolling on the flour laughing, ‘’quick get a camera!’’ she laughed out.

‘’he is real… nice’’ Fluttershy whispered, ‘’c-can’t b-breath’’ The laughing Rainbow Dash said.

‘’bye girls, see you next week’’ I said as I waved them goodbye. I was very happy that they knew, ‘’Spike take a letter’’ spike ran to a desk and sat down. ‘’Dear princes Luna, tonight I had my friends over to make an announcement, for I am pregnant from Ace. I hope you’ll understand that I am still having a hard time due to his passing, but his legacy is able to live on through our love. He is the savior of Equestria, without him the changelings would have taken over and consumed all the love, therefore I ask you to honor his heroic deed by allowing a memorial to be made or a holiday for the day that he sacrificed his own life to save Equestria. Your faithful student Twilight Sparkle.

Spike send the letter and a few moments later a nock came on my door, I opened it and found myself in a tight embrace from princes Luna, ‘’congratulations, Twilight’’

‘’Hi dear, it’s almost time, a few more days and you’ll be a father’’ I said as I stood by his tombstone, we gave him a grave even though there wasn’t anything to bury. ‘’She has been kicking a lot lately, she will be a feisty one.. just like you’’ my eyes teared up again, ‘’it has been almost a year now since you had to leave us, I still miss you… I’ll always miss you. You have meant so much to me, you still do…’’ I sat down and started sobbing softly, ‘’I wish that you could be with me still, if there only would be a way’’ I felt her kick and smiled, there would always be the time spells… but that would only change the future for that Twilight, my Ace was no more.

I opened the door to my house and walked in, I hang my coat up and lay down on the couch, my back ached a lot. I felt her kick again, I smiled, ‘’just a few more days’’ I whispered and stroked my tense belly, ‘’just a few more days’’. I yawned and lay my head down, not long after I fell asleep.

‘’Twilight I’m home’’ Spike said as he walked in the door, I was still asleep on the couch. ‘’Twilight, wake up, I brought diner’’ he said and poked my forehead. I opened my eyes and sat up, ‘’what time is it?’’ I asked, ‘’around eight, why?’’ he said wondering, ‘’I have been asleep for five hours… must have been tired’’. Spike curiously at my face, ‘’have you been crying?’’ he asked, I nodded, ‘’again about Ace… Twilight it has almost been a year now, you have to let it go one day’’ I glared at him, ‘’I am carrying his foal, I think I’ll keep him in mind a bit l longer…’’ .

I got up and walked to the dinner table, I sat down at one of the chairs and sighed. ‘’I don’t know if I’m ready for it Spike… Being a mother is a great responsibility and I’m not sure if I’m ready for the test…’’ Spike looked confused at me as he set up two plates at the table, ‘’of course you are, you raised me didn’t you’’ he said with a smile, ‘’and I will help you, you know that’’ I smiled at him, ‘’and that is why you are my number one assistant’’ I petted him on his head and started to eat.

‘’well I’m off to bed, goodnight Spike’’ I walked to my room and lay down carefully in my bed, I yawned and closed my eyes, but sleep didn’t want to come fast. My mind was with the foal I was going to get and that I would be fatherless, but I have my friends who are always there for me.

‘’That stallion ruined me*hiccup*, his dead bloody ruined me!’’ Celestia said out loud in her room to herself, she took another bottle of wine, opened it and drank half the bottle in one go. ‘’How could this have happened, why did that little bitch had to interfere…’’ she stumbled and fell on her side, ‘’fluck… my booze!’’ she quickly re-levitated the bottle she had dropped and started to lick the spilled wine from the floor.

‘’Celestia, could thou help us with… what is thee doing’’ Luna walked in and saw her sister lick wine from the floor, ‘’why are thou licking the floor?’’ Luna tilted her head to the side and looked confused. ‘’well… there was this fall and then I spilled it and I was thirsty and I decided to lick it up, because I was thirsty’’ Celestia mumbled, barely being able to stand up straight, ‘’thou is drunk again isn’t thee’’ Luna said with a smile, ‘’nah, not at all, why would you think that’’ Celestia muttered. ‘’thou were licking the floor almost a foot away from the spill, there is a stack of empty bottles in the corner of thou room… and thou barfed on our hooves’’ Celestia lifted her head and a drip of saliva dangled from her chin, ‘’uhps’’ Celestia giggled, ‘’hairball’’.

Luna sighed and helped Celestia to get to her bed, and wiped her mouth with a high quality towel, ‘’sister, you have to stop doing this, it’s not healthy for thee’’ Luna said to a half unconscious Celestia, she turned around, ‘’Tia we need your help running the kingdom, but the only thing thou do is drink and thou fell asleep…’’ she muttered as she looked back.

Luna walked out her sisters chambers, ‘’do not allow her to come even close to any sort of alcoholic beverage, is that clear?’’ Luna ordered to Celestia her guards, ‘’y-yes princes’’ they said in unison. ‘’another day for me to rule alone…’’ Luna sighed and began her royal duties for the day.

She raised the sun, her sister was too drunk to do it. It took Luna a lot more energy to do this, for her element was the moon, not the sun. Due to Celestia her depression Luna had to do all the duties they were supposed to share, it took her all day and night, she didn’t even have time to sleep. Even though she was an alicorn she also needed rest, not as much as a normal pony, but still she needed it.

She had been awake for a month straight now and it started to take its toll, during her courts she often fell asleep when somepony was even the slightest bit boring. She needed the help of her sister, for she had enough power, skill and age to do it all by herself. But Luna lagged them all, for she was too young to have enough power and due to the thousand years of banishment to the moon she now also lagged the skill.

Another long day had taken yet again its toll on the young alicorn, she slumped to her chambers and raised the moon with her last bit of energy. She then let herself fall on her bed and immediately fell asleep, but not for too long for she had also to hold night court, which was busier since she was the favorite princes.

‘’princes Luna, wake up princes!’’ a voice spoke from behind the closed doors. Luna opened her eyes, ‘night court already’ she thought. ‘’princes you have to lower the moon and raise the sun! with all respect but you are already two hours late… civilians are starting to complain’’ the voice said.

Luna her eyes shot open, she slept all night but didn’t feel rested at all, maybe a bit but not enough to compensate for the sleepless month. She got up and lowered the moon with ease, then she focused deeply and started to move the sun with her alicorn magic a small line of light appeared on the horizon, when she was done she was exhausted again and the day just started.

She steadied herself and walked to the door, the voice she heard was form the royal advisor, ‘’finally princes, there is so much to do!’’ Luna silenced him by raising one of her hooves. She galloped towards Celestia her room and bucked it open, ‘’You get up from your lazy drunk ass and help me rule this kingdom! We are meant to rule together, not one rules and the other one gets drunk all day and night!’’ she shouted to the still sleeping Celestia, fueled with rage.

Celestia popped her head up, ‘’Luna please be quite, I have this huge hangover… why do you let me drunk this much?’’ Luna her mouth fell agape, her horn started to glow, she lifted up the bed of Celestia and threw it out of the window with a angry roar.

I woke up by the sun that fell through the window of her room, I yawned and stretched myself, ‘’morning’’ I whispered and petted my round belly. I looked at the clock in my room, it was ten o’clock, then I looked out of the window. ‘’That’s odd, sunrise at ten o’clock in Spring…’’ I sat up and slowly lowered myself to the ground.

A sharp pain shot through my belly, causing I grimaced. ‘’that’s also odd’’ I said while panting from the pain. I walked out of her room, slow but steady. Another sharp pain, ‘’SPIKE!’’ I yelped, Spike ran down the stairs of the house into the kitchen where I was, ‘’w-what’s wrong Twilight?’’ he asked in terror, ‘’I think it’s time’’ I said through gasps of breath, ‘’time for what… oh right breakfast, I’m on it!’’ he said and opened a cabinet. ‘’spike, she’s coming! Get me us to the hospital’’

Spike’s eyes shot wide open and ran to his desk, he hastily scribbled down something on a note, ‘’Twilight lay down, now. A carriage I coming to pick us up’’ he said and breathed fire over the piece of parchment her just wrote on. He ran to me and helped me on the couch, ‘’just stay still, and tell me when you feel contractions’’ he said and dashed off into the kitchen and returned and returned with a glass of water. ‘’here drink something’’ Spike said and offered me the glass, I levitated it towards my face and took a sip, ‘’thank you Spike’’ I said

After a few minutes there was a knock on the door, Spike opened it, ‘’lives Twilight Sparkle here’’ the pegasus pony behind the door spoke, ‘’yes, I’ll help her get there, go and prepare the carriage’’ Spike replied. Spike ran towards me and helped me of the couch and towards the door, ‘’you two are going to be alright’’ he said and walked me to the carriage.

I sat down and Spike beside me, ‘’to the hospital, fast! B-but safe’’ he ordered, the stallion chuckled and began to pull the carriage forward. Another sharp pain, ‘’spike, another one… this is too soon, it was supposed to be next week’’ I said with a fearful expression, ‘’what if something is w-wrong’’ I whimpered. ‘’Twilight listen to me, sometimes foals are born a bit earlier than expected, there is nothing wrong. I promise’’ Spike said reassuringly.

We reached the hospital and the carriage stopped in front of it, ‘’Twi stay here, I’m going to get someone’’ Spike said, jumped out of the carriage and ran into the hospital. Several seconds later he came back out with a nurse behind who was pushing an empty wheelchair, ‘’okay Twi, come out and sit down. I’ll help you’’ Spike said and pointed at the wheelchair.

The pegasus chuckled, ‘’ooh the memories’’ he chuckled, ‘’you are going to do just fine ma’am, good luck’’ he said with a smile and took off. I was pushed inside by the nurse, Spike was next to me all the time. ‘’sorry sir, but only the father can come’’ the nurse said to Spike, he nodded in understanding, which shocked me a bit. ‘’take care of our mom, okay’’ Spike said to the nurse, she smiled and nodded and pushed me though into a room and helped me on a bed.

The thing Spike just said melted my heart, he saw me as his mother, and the to be born filly already as his sister. I smiled, I was ready, everything was going to be fine.

‘’Celestia, I just received note that Twilight went into labor, maybe you wanted to know…’’ Luna said to her sister, who was still mad at her for throwing her out of the window. ‘’w-what?!’’ Celestia said in shock, ‘’she was pregnant! Why didn’t anyone tell me!’’ she shouted out. ‘’I did tell you, around five times! But thou were too drunk to remember’’ Luna spoke, ‘’Luna language. I told you I am sorry for my misbehavior, but still that was no excuse for you to throw me out of the window’’ Celestia said. ‘’yes it was! The only thing you have been doing the last month was drinking and fooling around with your guards! You didn’t even remember that Twilight was pregnant, do you even remember why you drank in the first place, that you send the father of the foal to his death’’ Luna spoke and increased the volume of her voice with magic.

Celestia drooped down her head, ‘’y-yes I remember… all too well. I didn’t expect him to die, I thought his love was un-noticeable’’ she mumbled, ‘’but now everypony hates me, I admit that I made a major mistake, but that isn’t a reason to hate me…’’

‘’Tia please, you didn’t even try to make it right, you shrugged it off as if it was nothing. He saved all of Equestria and you didn’t even paid any respect, you used him as a tool!’’ Luna interrupted her sister, ‘’you should be ash…’’ suddenly a letter magically from Luna her horn, she read it and smiled. She looked at her sister and frowned, she rolled up the letter and threw it right at Celestia her face, hitting her directly on the nose.

Luna gave her sister another glare and took off towards Ponyville, ‘’Luna wait!’’ Celestia yelled, but Luna was already gone. Celestia read the letter, ‘’dear princes Luna, could you do me a favor and go to Ponyville and round up my friends, take them to the Canterlot hospital and go to room 208. I have somepony new they would like to meet, feel free to join them with their visit. Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle’’

Celestia dropped the letter and started to sob, ‘’what have I done?’’ she whispered.

Luna reached Ponyville and had rounded up the five friends, she took them to Canterlot by the use of teleportation. The group walked towards the Canterlot hospital, they were all exuberant of what they were going to witness. They reached the hospital and trotted inside, in the lobby a Spike ran towards them, ‘’You’re here’’ he squealed from excitement, ‘’we have to wait just a little bit longer, they are resting’’ he said.

‘’but Twilight send me a letter half an hour back?’’ Luna said and looked questioning at Spike, ‘’yeah about that, Twilight pre-wrote the letter… you know how organized she can be’’ she scratched the back of his head, ‘’she told me that I should send it as soon as I had news about the birth… and I was a little over excited so I send it a bit to early’’ he blushed.

Luna smiled and nodded in understanding, ‘’don’t worry Spike, we’ll wait for as long as she needs’’ she said. As she spoke a doctor walked up to spike ‘’she is ready for visitors now’’ he said to the purple baby dragon.

The group walked chattering after the doctor who led them to the Twilight was in, ‘’please don’t be too loud or jumpy. The foal is asleep and she is still very exhausted, normally we wouldn’t allow any visitors yet, but she said she needed to see you…’’ the doctor spoke and opened the door to room 208.

The group walked through the door into the room, ‘’hi guys’’ Twilight said when she saw her friends and the princes, ‘’ooh princes Luna, I’m glad you could come too’’. The group only took half in what Twilight said and only were looking at the little bundle on her arms, their faces full of expectation.

‘’I have someone here I want you meet’’ Twilight said and unwrapped the little bundle, a little sleeping foal. ‘’eek she is so adorable’’ Fluttershy almost shouted out and almost instantly blushed after she realized her outburst. The rest didn’t even notice, for they were in complete awe with the little new born filly.

The foal peeped her eyes open and yawned, causing the group to *aaaawwww*. Twilight blushed and looked at her daughter, she nuzzled her, receiving a smile from the young filly. Her eyes started to tear up.
