Another day in Ponyville meant another day of training for its' new militia. Weeks had passed since the duel between Big Macintosh and Valiant and in the short time that followed the trainees began showing improvement during their drills.

"What kind of an attack is that? PUT SOME HEART INTO IT!!" A drill sergeant shouted to a group of trainees while in another part of the training grounds. The girls had gathered for a few sparring exercises lead by Valiant and Flash.

"Are you sure about this Twilight?" Fluttershy asked nervously, being opposed to violence and due to her kind nature.

"We need to be ready girls. Who knows when those caribou will come back!"

"Twilight is right girls, it never hurts to be prepared and besides I just can't stand the way those barbarians were dressed!" Rarity complained before giving a disgusted expression before hearing what sounded like fighting.

"Looks like the boys started without us." Rainbow Dash zoomed ahead to see Valiant and Flash in the middle of a dirt circle, in front of a small shack and were hacking away at each other with wooden weapons. Flash held a bo staff while Valiant used two wooden shortswords. The two were staring each other down and were slightly exhausted showing they had been at it for some time.

"Hi guys! We're he-oh my..." Applejack's hello was cut short when she saw both stallions were shirtless and covered in dirt from their fighting.

"Oh...wow..."

POMF!!

"Uh Twilight? You're wings." Pinkie snapped the princess out of her trance when she let out a shriek that distracted the two of them.

"Oh hey Twilight."

"Uh h-hi Flash! You look...hot-OH!!" Twilight covered her mouth as her face flared up a bright red.

"You're right. It's warm out today." Flash wiped the sweat off his brow before heading to the well for a pail of water while Valiant dried himself off with a rag.

"Welcome to your first sparring session ladies, I've already had your training armor outfitted for you." All but Rarity seemed excited as the girls went inside to change. All the while Twilight just couldn't take her eyes of Flash and was soon lost in a daydream until Pinkie yanked her in by the tail.

"Come on slow poke!"

"Oh. Sorry girls." Twilight apologized as she began to undress.

"Ah don't be Twilight. I remember when I first saw Soarin without his shirt-RROW!" The pegasus gave a wicked grin as she recalled the memory. Rarity seemed appalled by her expression.

"Honestly Rainbow! Can't you be more lady like?"

"Oh come on Rares! it's not like you haven't seen Spike without HIS shirt have you?"

"Of course I have but I'm not as oh how shall I put this delicately? Perverted as you when describing him."

"Oh yeah? Prove it!" Rainbow dared and like always Twilight was keen on to what her little brother was doing with his girlfriend.

"Well it was a hot day and Spike had just come back from mining me crystals for my latest design and of course the poor dear was exhausted from the heat so he decided to undress in order to cool down faster. When I came downstairs, there he was in all his glory..."

Rarity suddenly began to ramble in a romantic manner as she described her vision.

"His shining scales, his bulging biceps, his well packed abs-!!"

"UGH! Please no more!! This is my brother we're talking about!!" Twilight demanded they stop after hearing Spikes body described in detail.

Later

The girls were each now dressed in a unique suit of armor. Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were given scouting uniforms that used basic chainmail and leather padding for more maneuverability, Twilight had been given a special plate armor commissioned by the princess herself along with Applejack while Rarity was given what appeared to be a regular gown similar to Emelyns.

"Oh my! I must say I was worried at first but I admit this outfit is FABULOUS!" Rarity twirled her new outfit before striking a pose.

"Well we're not here for a fashion show we're here to train."

"He's right so Valiant what's our first exercise?"

"Simple really. You six versus me." The mares just stood in silence when a feint breeze began to blow through.

"WHAT?!?"

"You're kidding. You're kidding right?" Rainbow laughed so hard her sides began to hurt when she noticed Valiant raising an eyebrow at her with his signature twin blades mounted on his shoulders.

"Uh Valiant? Not to question your methods but six of us against you seems a bit unfair." Twilight pointed out with her friends nodding in agreement.

"You think the battlefield will be any different? When in battle you should be ready for an attack from more than just one opponent and there will be times where you will be outnumbered. But before I can train you for that I need to see what you've got. The princess has told me you girls have quite the reputation."

"Reputation?" Applejack scratched her head in confusion.

"You girls did take down a hundred changelings by yourselves during the Canterlot invasion, that is no small feat and Twilight. You ALONE fought Tirek to a stand still and forced him to make a deal."

"But I was forced to give up my magic in order to save my friends..." Twilight still felt shame for that when Valiant told her something she took to heart.

"A leader who values friends and family over wealth and power is a leader worth following."

With that being said, Valiant lead the girls to a weapons rack containing a variety of armaments. Each weapon was freshly sharpened and polished and shone as bright as a full moon.

"So girls? You wanna do this or what?" Valiant asked as Twilight looked to her friends. Each smiling with confidence before grabbing a weapon of their choosing, Twilight was the last and choose a jeweled sword that seemed to call out to her before facing Valiant with her friends.

"We're ready!" Twilight shouted as she stood at the front of her friends to lead the attack.

"Then you better brace yourselves!" He warned them as he prepared to charge.

"YOU'LL FIND I HAVE A MIGHTY APPETITE FOR BATTLE TODAY!! HYAAAGGH!!!"

"GET EM GIRLS!!"

Like a hungry wolf on the attack Valiant charged the girls head on as they braced themselves for what was sure to be the fight of their lives.
