School Days: Anthology

Patience is the Art of Hoping, eh.

A day at the office for the Commissar was usually simple. All he had to do was call up Anthony to pick him up with the van, drive to the Starbucks to pick up his breakfast, eat and drink, hand over today’s work to the class, then try not to sleep until 3:20 pm. This was his schedule every day for the past few years, well, he did have to change things up this semester seeing how Miss Tanaka came along. Looking back before she arrived into my life, it’s ridiculous to think that I actually had to do work.

But, like last week his schedule was interrupted as he was sitting calmly in his seat facing his boss; Mathilda Danaan, the school’s Administrator. Now, most people would think that the Headmaster is the one who runs things around here, but no, you would be wrong if you thought that. Instead the Hassian Institute is run by Miss Danaan, which is quite surprising considering her age.

About an hour ago, she had called him over to her office at the Headmaster’s Mansion to discuss something with him. Thinking it was about this month’s pay he made his way to her as soon as possible to receive his money, but to his surprise it wasn't about payment, rather she wanted to speak to him about... well him.

"I am glad that you came today Mr Popescu." She said giving him a warm smile. She would always give him a smile whenever they’re together, and sometimes he would even smile back at her, and he did for a moment.

"Thank you Hilda. I was wondering why you called me over on such short notice?" As much as he likes the twenty year old woman, he still had some business to conduct with his aide, although thinking it over he could take it slow today. He supposed that his aide can take care of herself at that classroom for an hour or two.

"I just wanted to let you know that you are one of my best teachers, and I am glad to have you." She complimented him, and he gives her a simple nod. He’s not quite use to people giving praise as many people tend to avoid him whenever possible. Even then no one should really be given praise for doing their job.

"Thank you Hilda."

"You have accomplished so much in your teaching career, and are one of the best we have." She complimented him with the same smile. Well, she isn’t entirely wrong about that. There isn’t another teacher like me who would take on the challenge of educating a class of the Institute’s worst… well, he wouldn’t really call his class the worst. There’s certainly many others out in campus much worse than class 031, but he won’t be telling anyone that.

"Again thank you Hilda."

"In fact you are one of my favorite teachers ever since I met you." Okay, her favorite teacher? Well, knowing this certainly makes his life so much easier, but feeling the need to look humble he needed to mention a few teachers that he feels are capable to a certain extent.

"What about Mayumi Kisaki, Cain Mendez, Aikurō Mikisugi and Aoi Tanaka?" He doesn’t know too much of his fellow teachers within the school, but he knew enough to have a small circle of friends. Having people to talk to is the only thing keeping him sane after dealing with his classes’ faggotry.

"Well I will admit they have some bad habits, but they are still good educators, though I couldn't choose between them over you." Yeah, he wouldn't really call them habits… Miss Kisaka is a drunk who spends too much time chasing college athletes, Mr Mendez is a little too hard on his students at gym, Mr Mikisugi is a little too untrustworthy despite being an excellent educator, and Miss Tanaka is too contradicting with her either being submissive or punitive. But they're good at their jobs, and that's all that really matters.

"I see." Alexer was beginning to wonder why she was acting so friendly with him tdoay. Sure, she's friendly to him whenever they're together, but all he wanted was his payment from this month, and maybe he could get a little more out of her… but what he doesn’t know is that his hope would soon be dashed away with her next words.

"There is just one problem I have with you." The silver haired beauty's' smile widened which caused the man to be extremely nervous.

"What's that Hilda?" The wannabe Commissar asked as he nervously re-adjusted his hat.

"HAVE YOU SEEN THE FUCKING BILL FOR ALL THE TIMES YOUR CLASS BROKE SHIT AT OUR SCHOOL?!" Mathilda screamed, stood up, yanked a piece of paper from her desk drawer and shoved it into his face.

"Err..." Alexer scanned the paper in front of him before replying, "That is a LOT of zero's Hilda." Alexer realized two things that day. One was that windows, drywall and tiling were expensive, and two was that getting a date with Mathilda was not gonna happen anytime soon. Looks like the argent angel had a limit to her patience.

"I THOUGHT YOU SAID YOU HAD YOUR CLASS UNDER CONTROL!" She continued to raise her voice at him, but then sat back down on her chair. Sighing the young woman continued. "Isn't Miss Tanaka supposed to help you with dealing with the school's delinquents?" She then began to play with her ponytail and looked elsewhere, a clear sign she's under stress or in deep thought. He's gonna have to tread lightly from here on out.

"Well, you know we cannot prevent my class from doing anything wrong after 3:20." He said as he took off his hat, and ran his fingers through his hair.

She was quiet for a few moments as he continued to attempt to see how much this bill actually costs, but then she spoke. "So you say..."

"I am so sorry for causing you stress, but will my-" Before he could ask about his payment she cut him off, which caught him off guard as she never done this to him, ever. Her eyes were trained on him.

This is most troubling.

"I'm sorry, but yes, your wage for this month will be deducted until all of these damages are covered." Well, there goes him contributing to the Halloween dance's fund this year. "Please Alexer, keep your class under control, and we'll talk about your payment after October." Looks like I'm gonna be eating cafeteria food from here on out...
