Driving Life with a Lead Foot
Chapter 3 - The Chicane at the End of the Road
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAJ and Twilight were staring at Skyline, and expecting an explanation. Skyline sat on his bed, regretting the alcohol, and genuinely thought it was the end of the road for him. He finally managed to work up the courage, and then he told them.
"I-I'm an..... alicorn...."
Twilight looked at him with pure curiosity. "Wait, what..?"
"Yeah, you heard me. I'm an alicorn. Due to friggin' genetics, I got wings and a horn. And after that, everything collapsed. I grew up being looked at as special, and I didn't want it. So I moved. Several times. Even to different dimensions. I've been running too long."
Skyline strolled over to the fridge and pulled out a small can of beer. "I've got a story to tell, but i'm gonna need some alcohol."
—————————— 2 Weeks Ago —————————————
Skyline woke up one morning in his house on Earth. After lying in bed for a good ten minutes, he got a call from a client and got out of bed to suit up. Skyline worked as a contract killer (For the good side!) and was very good at his job. He was known as the Armored Reaper, because of his attire. Skyline was a great inventor as well, so he created his suit. Inspired by many earth video games such as Halo, Assassin's creed, and Call of Duty, he made his suit have similar components to the characters in these games. That being said, He had Spartan Mark VIII Armor, an ODST helmet, a modern styled Assassin's cloak, Hidden blades fabricated into the wrist of his armor, a Vector K10 SMG at his side, and a Katana in a slot in his back, and he implemented a compact EXO suit built into his armor as well. Not being able to fly or use magic forced him to use this armor, and all of this was black. And, all of it compacted into a backpack size. He also used his suit to insert chips into his arm that would make his skin color like normal humans, because being blue would inevitably lead to his demise.
Skyline pressed his hand against the backpack and the programmed special metal began the spread around his arm, then to his body. After it was in place, it secured itself and ran diagnostics. After it gave the all clear, he checked his boots to make sure the collapsable high-speed wheel was funtioning, because things might get fast.
He went to his small garage to get his car. The car, a 2008 Lotus Exige Cup, was the car he used for his work. Lightweight and agile, this speedy car was midnight black just like his armor, including the rims and window tint. He got in and pulled the laptop out of his glove box, which he used to run a trace on his victim. Things were going fine when the full identification read 'Unknown' and the ID picture was a blurry far shot. But anyone from Equestria knew that one.
Chrysalis.
Skyline floored the gas pedal and sped off into an alley torward the trace. Sometimes you can run from your past, but it comes to hunt you down later on. He wanted to stay here, in this life, and not go to where this could lead.
The trace took him into the wooded area north, and Skyline parked his car under a small cliff and camouflaged his car. He then pulled a Barret 50 Cal. sniper off of his back and pulled the bolt. After affirming it was loaded, he activated his active camo and moved into the forest. Within ten minutes, he found some changelings loading cargo. Skyline took aim immediately and his finger hovered over the trigger, but then remembered he could follow them to the queen. So he waited.
Soon the enemy units were moving forward and Skyline moved silently behind the tree line, taking pursuit. As soon as Skyline saw their base, He pulled out his silenced B23R pistol and shot two enemies in the head and proceeded to snap the neck of the last one. The green blood soaked the ground as Skyline moved forward. Skyline felt sick when he realized that this was not the first time.
And he hoped it was the last.
Skyline activated his EXO and jumped on the top of the building. He pulled out his sniper again, but as more of a scouting use. He then shot two guards in the corner, where their bodies would not be found.
Moving up, he pulled out his Vector K10 SMG and started bullet-hosing enemy units. As soon as he made sure all the units outside were dealt with, he searched for the entrance to the base. He found where the largest concentration of guards was and found a door.
Skyline opened the door, and threw a flashbang in. After it went off, he activated his VISR and rushed in, and with a tappity-tap of his trigger, he cleared the room. Skyline wondered why this was so easy, but focused on the task at hand, no time to think. He pulled out his Katana in his left hand, and his silenced B23R pistol in the other hand. He drove the sword through an enemy and put three rounds into another's head. Soon he reached a lone door with a light peeking out of the bottom, and Skyline switched his audio to hear what was on the other side.
"-need to move on him, he could be.... useful."
Skyline took a deep breath. That voice was Chrysalis's, he was sure of it. And they were talking about him. Somehow they found him here
With a surge of adrenaline, he pulled out his Vector K10 and shot the handle off of the door, and kicked the door down. But as he moved in, he saw nobody. Only a lone tape recorder on a lone table.
That was the last thing he saw before a gun slammed against his head, cracking the helmet visor.
————————————————————————————————
"Nice of you to join us, Skyline."
Chrysalis was standing in front of him in a dark room, where Skyline was tied to a chair under a single lightbulb. Talk about cliche.
Skyline took in his surroundings quickly. He was alone with the enemy, and his suit was gone, exposing a torn black shirt.
Chrysalis then did something he did not expect. She used her magic to grab the chip inside of his arm, and with a quick jerk, the chip was torn from the inside of his arm, shooting extreme pain through him. As the pain died to a throb, the cut bleeding, his skin color gradually returned to a mild blue, and his wings formed on his back as well. Chrysalis studied the chip in front of her, and then she crushed it under her heel.
"You are quite innovative, i'll give you that."
Skyline's anger became poisonous.
"You have no idea of my abilities once that chip is out."
"Oh? Let's see then. It's been awhile."
Simultaneously, Skyline broke the rope securing him to the chair, then jumped out, and mentally spawned a Hidden Blade onto his wrist. Extending the blade, he lunged at her, time seeming the be in slow-motion. But as soon as the blade got close, she grabbed his arm and deflected it to the side.
"I remember you being better at this," She said. "Has it been that long?"
Then a lightning fast fistfight broke out, and Chrysalis blocked all of his advances.
She chuckled. "What about your driving, Skyline? Did that die?"
Skyline was now pure fury. "Don't ever even imply that can't drive! I have been driving fast for a long time, and I only get better."
"A shame that we can't test it, you being in this.... circumstance."
Skyline put all of his anger into his fist, and threw a punch as hard as he could torward her face, but she moved, and Skyline drove his fist six inches into solid concrete.
"FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-"
He yanked his fist out, bleeding and raw. He tore a strip of cloth from his shirt and wrapped it around his hand.
"When you're angry, it seems your anger dictates you. After all these years, you still have the same flaws..."
"If you're implying I will side with you, you can go and shove it up your a-"
"No need for foul language."
"You're extremely cocky, as always."
She smiled. "Old habits die hard, but one cannot understand it as much as you, hm?"
"Why have you brought me here?"
She traced her finger along the wall. "It's true, I do want you on my side, but I needed assurance."
Skyline raised a cautious eyebrow. "For what?"
She side glanced at him. "That you were still as stubborn as you always were."
Skyline quickly swept her legs from under her and brought out his blade again, poised to plunge. But as he saw her eyes, her nonchalance, he couldn't find himself to do it. She was an Equestrian criminal. Justice should not come by his hand. It is that of the princess's hand. He must find a way to drop her off at Canterlot Castle without himself being discovered.
Just then, guards came from every direction, and not being armed to his liking, he used the chair he was previously tied to to parkour twist himself over the guards. He then ran as far as he could without stopping.
Some time later, Skyline found his way topside. He saw his suit hanging in backpack form in the back of a truck, so he used his magic to rip the doors apart, and he went to put on the suit. He immediately set it to re-chip his arm, and just then, the guards started to leave the base, and started to move on him. He bolted torwards where he parked his car, with gunfire spraying over his shoulder. As soon as he reached the Lotus, he jumped in and floored it, sending sand and rocks into eyes of the enemies. As he was driving off, he glanced at his rear view mirror, and he didn't believe what he saw.
A modified black with dark green trim 2008 Nissan Fairlady Z.
Skyline drove to a nearby stoplight and stopped, letting her pull beside him. "That railroad crossing is exactly a quarter mile away. On green, we go," he said. "Just like old times, huh?"
"Indeed. Let's see if you've gotten any better"
They both revved their engines, and Skyline did a burnout. The light blinked off, and then...
Green.
They both shot off of the line, with Skyline's lighter car getting the advantage. Skyline threw the gear into 2nd, and then third, and then Chrysalis started catching up. Soon they met up, bumpers side by side, and Skyline hit both his NOS buttons, dramatically accelerating the car to tip 130 MPH halfway down the strip. Chrysalis hit her one NOS button, and accelerated, but not enough to overcome Skyline. They came to an intersection and a Semi truck pulled forward, and Chrysalis hit the truck, sending her car skyward. Skyline then saw the car crash onto the ground, doing a roll before coming to a stop. Skyline yanked the E-brake and jumped out of the car, his pistol cautiously in hand.
Chrysalis was sitting still in the seat of the wrecked car, a cut on her forehead. Skyline helped her out and she sat on the hood of her car. "It's been two years, Skyline." They both were silent. When Skyline heard sirens in the background, he turned to her and held out the keys for his Lotus. "Go. Now. Before I change my mind." She stood still, looking at him, confused. "NOW!" Skyline yelled.
She jogged to his car and gave him one last look over the door, and then got in, started the car, and gunned it, driving to who knows where.
Skyline activated his EXO and ran quickly to his house, the EXO making him run at great speeds. There, he magically tinkered with his laptop, getting feed from Equestria's internet. He found a contractor who would build a garage, and he confirmed the order, making a request for a small storage warehouse out back. He wired the money through, and began to pack his things, and arrange for car shipment, given that he could get them all through to the dimension. A week later, he arrived in Ponyville for the first time in many, many years.

Applejack and Twilight stared at him, their mouths hung open. They were all sitting at his small kitchen table, and Skyline had finished his beer. Skyline sat silently for awhile, then casually strode over to his fridge, looking over the few options.
Twilight spoke first. "So, that Chrysalis is the one from here...?!"
Skyline closed the fridge. "I wish I could deny it."
"And you have a mysterious history with her? Tell us about that!"
"No. I gave the explanation asked for." He stepped forward. "And if you tell anybody, especially the princesses, I will vanish like smoke and make the rest of your life hell."
Twilight leaned back. "O-okay."
Skyline glanced at AJ. "That means you too."
"A-alright."
"Good. Now go on. Go home."
Twilight stood up, and paused.
"D-Do you still have the suit?"
Skyline glanced at her.
"Why?"
"Maybe it could help fight crime, or whatever. I'm curious."
"That doesn't surprise me."
"....so?"
"Maybe another day."
"Alright..."
The girls got up and Skyline helped them out of the building. After offering a ride, the girls simply reply saying that it's a short walk. After they walked away, Skyline walked back into the building and walked upstairs. He opened his closet, and grabbed something.
"I guess I couldn't hide forever, huh?"
A black backpack.
