Ding. Ding. Ding.

Day three at Starswirl Academy.

Skyline woke up suddenly and bolted upright in bed. The dreams... they remained. This new environment seemed to make them more prominent. Skyline lay there, staring at the ceiling. Should he have left? He.... He didn't know. But there were other reasons he came here.
Skyline sat on the edge of his bed. He was rubbing his head as he attempted to wake up. He got up to put in his uniform. As he was putting on his tie, there was a knock at his door. He walked to the door and opened it. It was none other than Tai Saito.
"Hey, Sky, we should get to class. Now."
"Tai, it's in twenty minutes! You need to chill out."
"Last year I was late to classes because of you."
"If you consider two minutes before class as late, I don't know how much more of you I can take."
Tai laughed. She reached out to fix Skyline's tie. "You never could get it right."
"I'm always half asleep when I do it, you know."
"Come on. Let's go."
Skyline grabbed his laptop and books and put them in a small blue backpack. "Let's get going then."
Skyline closed the door behind him. As they started walking, Polly happened to appear behind us.
"Hey guys! You sleep well? Ready for class? You got your books, right Skyline?"
"Polly, relax. You had gummy bears again, haven't you?" Said Skyline.
"Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe not maybe. Not maybe maybe not ma-"
"Polly! Relax"
They walked the rest of the way to their first class, which they shared. When they got there, an image flashed in Skylines mind. He stumbled.
"You okay?" Asked Tai.
"Yeah, I'm fine..."
"Does this have anything to do with that past you always reference but never tell us?"
"Yes. No. Maybe. Doesn't matter."
Tai raised her eyebrow, and then turned to walk into class. Skyline walked to his seat and placed his laptop on the desk, and turned it on. There was five minutes till class started, so he figured he'd check a few things.
He pulled out a low profile USB and put it into the computer. Soon, he had an all access pass to the equestrian Internet.
He clicked on the government site and logged in. He managed to find feed of cameras, and when he switched to the main hall camera, instead of seeing the room, he saw Celestia sitting in front of him.
"I knew you'd check our cameras, Skyline."
Skyline shut his laptop quickly. A moment later, his phone began to vibrate. Skyline made sure that the teacher wasn't in the room, and he answered the call.
"Where are you, exactly?" She said.
"Somewhere you can't follow me to."
"Regardless, why did you leave?"
"I needed a break. If I stayed, my mind would deteriorate. I need to conquer it in a different setting. Where you are brings back too much."
"Are you saying that you're compromised?"
"I'm saying that you need to keep an eye on Chrysalis, and try to hunt down Sombra. I already know how I'll take him down."
Skyline was about to hang up when Celestia spoke up.
"Skyline, why did you really come back? I know it wasn't for reasons you tell us."
"I..... That's something you'd have to ask me after the battle is fought."
"Couldn't you tell us now?"
"It wouldn't be right."
"I..... Alright. I trust you."
"More than I can ask of most."
Skyline hit the end call button and put his phone away. He withdrew the USB and put it in his pocket just as the teacher was starting class.
"Please open your books to page B-23R..."

Skyline was eating lunch when his friends Robyn, AJ, and Rosalyn approached him.
"These seats taken?" Asked AJ.
"Nope, you're good."
The three girls sat down at his table. Skyline proceeded to pop the top of his soda and he took a quick sip.
"How are things, darling?" Asked Rosalyn.
"They're fine.... Just fine."
"You don't sound too sure..." Said Robyn.
"I'm fine, really." Skyline gave Robyn's rainbow hair a quick ruffle.
"Hey, we're all going to mah family's diner tonight. Wanna come with?" Said AJ.
"That sounds great, actually. Hey, have you seen Faith around?"
"I saw her over by the garden. Pretty typical if you ask me." Said Robyn.
"I want to go talk to her. Be right back. Steal my food and I'll bust some heads."
Robyn shrugged. AJ smiled. Rosalyn looked at my food with mild distaste.
Skyline walked to the campus gardens and looked at all the flowers. He noticed how quiet it always was here. It was a good place to think. To reflect.
Skyline looked around the corner and saw her. Faith Summers.
She was staring at some rabbits a few yards in front of her, probably wishing they wouldn't run away if she got close.
Skyline casually walked up next to her, and in a way that wouldn't startle her.
"Hey Faith. How are ya?"
Faith turned to look at him. Those eyes, they were like a teal color, and they seemed to always see through Skyline's bullshit.
"Hey Sky!" She lightly hugged him. "You were in that other.... Place, during the summer, weren't you?"
Skyline smiled apologetically. Faith was the only person here that knows about Skyline's... Secrets. She didn't know much of them, but he told her enough. She seemed like someone he could trust. He liked to have someone here to talk to about... Things.
"I, uh, have experienced some very traumatic things. That is a touchy subject at the moment."
"Alright. I won't ask you." She rested her head on my arm.
Everyone at the school assumed they were a couple, or at least had a crush on one another. The problem was, he could never really deny it believably. Maybe he did like her.
"Oh, and all the girls and I are going to AJ's family's diner. You wanna come?" Skyline said.
"Sounds fun. Can you drive me there though?"
"Sure, no problem."
She stood there for another second and then stood straight. "We should get to lunch." She said.
"Yeah." Although Skyline wouldn't mind a few more moments with her.
They walked back to the lunchroom. When he got there, Tai and Polly were there too.
His lunch was untouched, thank Celestia, and he finished it quickly. He was talking with the girls when Headmaster Solomon walked up. Or, should I say, Headmistress.
"Skyline. Nice to see you're back in town. Have a nice summer?" She, too, sees through bullshit.
"Yes, ma'am. I was away with family."
She stared at him for a second, evaluating his answer. Eventually, she turned and walked off to welcome back other students. She was the Celestia of this place. Skyline knew that everyone from the other dimension has a counterpart. Except for him. He checked. Well, there was...
Skyline looked up just as the bell rang for next period. Crap. He got up and walked with Rosalyn and AJ to the next class.

Skyline was sitting on his bed 3 months later. It was the weekend, so he had a little bit of breathing room today.
He was checking things on his laptop when his phone rang. The caller ID said Celestia. He picked up immediately. "What's up? Something wrong?"
She only said one sentence before hanging up. "Codename Golf Tango Romeo."
Skyline held his phone for a moment, stunned. That code was for emergencies that required him. He heard a loud rumble. It was... Engines. The kind only Skyline made.
"Great, it's the royal row... I better go meet them before they run into people they shouldn't..."
He ran out to his car as fast as he could, and noticed that they kept their distance from the school. He jumped in and started the engine, and peeled out of the parking lot.
He approached the three cars and stopped in front of them. There was Celestia's silver Mercedes SLR McLaren, and Cadance's pink 2012 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and Twilight's purple 2004 BMW M3 GTR, but Luna's dark blue 2013 McLaren P1 was not here.
Skyline opened his door and quickly got out. "Where's Luna..?"
Celestia got out and approached him slowly. Her expression was grim. "She's been... Compromised. We can't talk here. But you need to see this."
Celestia's horn glowed a soft yellow color and Skyline's vision snapped to black.

Celestia's POV

Celestia was signing the last papers that she had to sign that day. When she signed the last signature, she gave them to her assistant and then she decided to check on Chrysalis.
She rode the elevator down in silence and soon the doors opened. She then descended down a couple flights of stairs and turned into the hallway of her cell. Ahead of her, she saw the door ajar. Celestia approached the door slowly and carefully. There were guards knocked out and on the ground. She took one's pulse. He was... Asleep?
Celestia grappled a pistol from one of the fallen guards. He held it in her hands as she turned into the cell. Chrysalis wasn't there.
We did everything Skyline said, she thought. His plan was perfect. What went wrong?
"Skyline wasn't the man he once was." Said a voice.
Celestia turned quickly, aiming the gun the way Skyline told her to.
Chrysalis was standing there with a gun of her own aimed at Celestia. It seemed they were at an impasse.
"What is going on?!" Celestia yelled.
Chrysalis smiled. "Our plan. Skyline never anticipated our rise, and now even he will be stunned for a time and won't be able to figure us out before the end."
"We don't need Skyline! We have defended Equestria for thousands of years! You will not win."
"Oh, but either way, You will fall. One of the most important things you have is ours now."
Celestia widened her eyes. "Luna...? You changed her, didn't you?!" Celestia held the gun closer to Chrysalis's head.
Chrysalis smiled, then vanished into thin air. An ability of Sombra. But...
Celestia ran for the main hall and when she got there, there were three figures. One Sombra, one Chrysalis, and one.... Her sister, turned dark... Nightmare Moon.
"Luna! I know you're in there! Come back!" Celestia yelled, a tear in her eye. This isn't happening. We prevented this, right? She thought.
Nightmare Moon flinched at her pained voice, and quickly she scowled with a smile.
"The night will rule, and with Luna and Skyline out of the way, the only problem we have are the elements of harmony. And we already have them."
An image shimmered in the air, picturing five girls in separate confinement, the colors of their hair and skin dulled.
"Enjoy what time you have left. I expect the other princesses will be joining you soon" Sombra said as the air around them began to shimmer.
Celestia felt a wave of anger flow over her as the three disappeared. Cadance and Twilight ran in shortly after.
"The girls are gone, Princess!" Said Twilight.
"Where's Luna?" Said Cadance.
Celestia stood silently, dropping the pistol in her hand. "Golf Tango Romeo. NOW!"

Skyline's vision returned and he stood still for a moment.
"This can't be happening... Have you looked into finding Discord?" Said Skyline.
"He's been MIA for years. He hasn't been causing trouble, nor has been helping. He's just been.... Neutral, I guess you'd say." Said Cadance.
"Okay. I have one more plan. This one will end the war that's started."
"What do you think we should do?" Asked Twilight.
"One last fight. One last ride."

The next morning, a 2012 Pagani Huayra was driving on the freeway at breakneck speeds, along the water.
Skyline's car was hitting 200 MPH as he drove on, with no indication of stopping. Skyline needed to stop this. The killing. The memories. When Skyline drove, he thought. He thought is was amusing, how time seemed to slow the faster he went. Speed was in his blood.
Skyline shifted to sixth gear and gripped the steering wheel with white knuckles. He took the off ramp and headed torward Ponyville. He finally knew what the solace he had been looking for was. It was never a thing, or a thought, or an environment. It was her, all along.
Skyline downshifted and sped forward, and there was no turning back from here.

Skyline arrived at Fluttershy's cabin in only ten minutes. He walked up to the door and saw police tape. He saw... Broken glass. Fallen items, moved furniture. She was taken by force.
Skyline walked in and sat on the floor against a wall.
"Chrys, you're gonna get a Twelve-Inch Steel Toe Boot up your ass for this, so help me.... I used to help you..... And now you cripple me." Skyline said. He sighed and put his head on his knees.
A few moments later, he saw something white bounce into view. A bunny. Skyline remembered that Fluttershy has a pet bunny. Angel.
The bunny hopped over to him and tapped his leg, and then ran out the back door.
Skyline got up and jogged after him. He was trying to show him something. He saw Angel in the distance running into the Everfree Forest.
For twenty minutes, Skyline ran after Angel until Angel stopped at the entrance to a cave. A very familiar cave.
Skyline walked in and pulled out his phone flashlight. He walked in about a hundred feet until he saw a large object covered in a dark gray tarp.
Skyline walked up to it and grabbed the tarp, and proceeded to whip it off. Then he stared at it.
The White 1998 Toyota Supra JZ80 SZ-R. From when he raced AJ and RD. He strode over to the rear left wheel well and found the keys where he left them. He walked to the driver's door and put the key in, and turned it.
The door opened with a pop, loud enough to echo throughout the entire cave. He climbed in and put the key into the ignition, and attempted to start the engine.
The car shuddered to life, and the exhaust was nearly deafening in this enclosed cave. He pumped the gas once and the dial on his boost gauge increased instantly. This car..... This car will end the war. The dreams... They were beginning to come together. This car was there somewhere, he remembered now.
He shifted into first gear, and pulled out of the cave. When he got back to the road, he floored it, headed torward Canterlot.

Skyline had assembled the three remaining princesses in the mission command room. Skyline pulled out a list he compiled and handed it to Twilight. Morning Star was drawing on a map over in a corner, and she looked up at him.
"Do you have a plan?" She asked.
Skyline smiled a little, but it quickly faded.
"Twi, look up those names under the DMV database and put the results on the big screen."
She typed a few things into her computer and words appeared on the big screen.

The Princesses and Morning stared at the list.
"You're looking for a team." Cadance inquired.
"Which ones do you want?" Asked Twilight.
Skyline stared at them with a straight face.
"I want 'em all."
