A Dash of Happiness Soared Through the Skies

Rainbow Dash flew with all her might, piercing through the skies. She only had one destination in mind, and that was the majestic Crystal Castle, that stood in the outskirts of Ponyville. She was meeting the rest of her friends there, getting ready for their weekly mail exchange.

You see, every once in a while, the mailpony, Derpy Hooves, sometimes mixed up the mail between the six elements of harmony. This happened more than once, and to avoid further confusion, the six mares decided they would meet up every Sunday, and go through their mail together. Rainbow had just finished collecting her's, and was heading over to her best friend, Princess Twilight Sparkle's castle in Ponyville.

She did some neat new tricks in the clear blue sky, a first for the small town, as their weather troop wasn't the most organized...

Soon, she arrived at her friend's place, and peeked through the window. She saw her five friends, including the princess of friendship herself, sitting on the living room couches.

She knocked twice on the doors, and they were instantly opened by her overly excited friend, Pinkie Pie.

"HIYA DASHIE!!!!" She cheered. Rainbow rolled her eyes, and smiled towards the two-toned pink mare.

"Hey Pinkie... I'm here for the letter exchange." She said dully. Pinkie grinned.

"Well, DUH! Come on in!" Pinkie said, pushing Dash's flank inside the room. She was immediately greeted by the rest of her friends, (Though not as energetically as Pinkie Pie,) and they all sat down, about to start the exchange.

"Alright. Who wants to go first?" Twilight asked. Rarity put her hoof up.

"I will, darling. Let's see. This one's from Gold Dusk, and addressed to Fluttershy. Gold... Dusk? Who in the world is that?" Rarity said, directing her question towards her timid yellow friend.

"Gold Dusk was the mare who helped me at the animal shelter a few years ago... She was very nice, and we've been pen pals ever since!" Fluttershy said, taking the letter from Rarity. She then turned towards her own letters.

"Let's see... This one's for me... For me... For me... And for me! Derpy didn't get a single one wrong with my orders!" Fluttershy said. The other's nodded towards her.

"Ah'll go! I have one for Twi, and one for Pinkie!" Applejack exclaimed, handing the letters to their owners.

"YAYYY! I GOT MY VERY OWN LETTER!" Pinkie cheered, and ripped open the paper. She then reached towards a letter from her own pile, and tossed it over to Twilight. Her friends rolled her eyes, and continued.

"I guess it's my turn! I have one for... Rarity! And... Wait... What's this?" Twilight said, stopping herself. She was staring at a letter with a golden symbol on the front. It had a lightning bolt, and a pair of wings behind it. Rainbow instantly recognized it, and her eyes widened.

"Wait... That's the Wonderbolt's symbol! Twilight... Why are you getting a letter from the Wonderbolts?" Dash asked the purple alicorn. Twilight looked more closely at the envelope, and gasped.

"Rainbow Dash... This isn't even addressed to me! It says your name on it!" Twilight said. Rainbow did a double take.

"REALLY? WHERE?" She said, jumping at the princess. Twilight turned the letter around, and everypony saw it for themselves. There, in small, gold letters, were the words: To, Rainbow Miriam Spectrum Dashery.

Rainbow lept up into the air in joy, and snatched the letter out of her friend's hooves. The WONDERBOLTS sent her a letter! Her life long heroes! They were contacting HER!

Dash quickly tore open the paper, and scanned the text.

Rainbow Dash,

We have been keeping a close eye on you for a while now, and it seems we have all come on an agreement. In a few weeks, we are hosting open Wonderbolt tryouts, and we were wondering if you could come and participate. Recently, one of our elite Wonderbolts retired, and we need somepony to fill the spot.

Tryouts are held for everypony who wants to come, but we wanted to personally invite you. If you plan on showing, please show this letter to the front desk, and they will help you get settled. You will have some advantages of being invited through mail.

We really hope to see you soon! Tryouts will be held at Wonderbolt Headquarters, in the heart of Cloudsdale city. Also were reserve classes are held, and Wonderbolt Camp. I know you are familiar with both these things.

Tryouts will be held two weeks from today, and we have attached a one-way train ticket if you are interested.

Once Dash finished reading the letter, and let it all sink in, she let out a very uncharacteristic squee.

"Woah Dashie! What happened?" Pinkie asked her. Rainbow turned to her pink friend with one of the widest smiles she ever wore.

"I was just... invited... to.... WONDERBOLT TRYOUTS! AHHHH!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed. Her friends looked at her with mild confusion, before gasping, and leaning in to hug their friend.

"That's fabulous news! Will you be going, darling?" Rarity asked. Rainbow gave her a look.

"Rarity... I have waited my entire LIFE for this! Of COURSE I'm going!" Dash exclaimed.

"Good Luck, Rainbow Dash! We're sure gonna miss you!" Fluttershy said. Dash smiled, and hugged all her friends once again.

Back at home, Dash looked at all her posters of the Wonderbolts, imagining herself flying alongside her heroes. Her eyes drifted to her very favorite member, and smiled.

"I'll be with you all very soon..." She said, before screaming in excitement.
