Chapter 29 (Almost to 30!): Get Away From Her!

Soarin gaped at the scene in front of him. He recalled hearing Dash's earlier story on how heartbroken Hoops had left her, and was interested to see why he was here now.

"Rain! Remember all those years ago, when we used to be coltfriend and marefriend?" Hoops asked the rainbow maned mare. She grimaced.

"How could I forget? And what happened to Rainbow Crash?" She asked him, with subtle hints of disgust. Hoops shrugged.

"Eh. Got over it! But what I do know, is that I really missed you!" He said. Dash raised an eyebrow.

"Oh yeah? What are you here for?" She asked him, cutting to the chase. He glanced at Soarin, and dropped his jaw to the floor.

"Commander Soarin? WOW! I've never met a Wonderbolt before!" He said childishly. Soarin glared at the sand-colored stallion.

"What are you here for, Mr. Hoops?" He asked him, showing respect that the colt obviously didn't deserve. Hoops simply smirked.

"Oh me? I'm here to take my Dashie back! I love her, she loves me, we're the perfect couple!" He said, slinging a hoof around the cyan mare. Rainbow gasped, and instantly backed away.

"No way! I never said I loved you!" She protested.

At that moment, everypony else walked in, gasping at the scene in front of them. Rainbow Blaze and Firefly, who immediately recognized Hoops, gasped in shock.

Soarin's glare hardened.

"Dude. Rainbow Dash is my marefriend." He said firmly, ignoring all the eyes on him. Hoops' eyes widened, as he stared between Dash and Soarin. But instead of apologizing, he took a step up, and raised his hoof.

"And who says she is? She clearly loves me more." He said. Soarin's face was now red with anger, not daring to believe this childish colt. But he was just so angry, he didn't even care about anything else.

"Rainbow Dash loves me. And I love her. And that's that." Soarin said, not shifting his gaze. Hoops shook his head.

"Tell you what... We'll fight. Winner get's Rainbow Dash." He said, getting into a fighting stance. Soarin backed away, and took his own.

"I'd never fight for that. But I will fight to show you you're a jerk!" Soarin said. Hoops' nose flared with anger, as he threw a punch.

Soarin easily blocked it, shooting his hoof up, and then down, countering the poorly aimed throw. Hoops glared, as he threw more punches.

Soarin, who had been trained in combat many times with the Wonderbolts, was no rookie when it came to fighting. He managed to gain the upper hoof quickly, pinning the orange colt down.

Hoops, underneath Soarin's tight hooves, simply smirked, as he pushed himself up. When he saw Soarin's awestruck face, he aimed right on his nose, punching hard, and hitting the given target.

There was a faint cracking noise, as Soarin held his hooves up to his face, wincing in the incredible amount of pain he had just received. Dash saw this, and gasped.

"SOARIN!" She yelled, falling to the ground. She saw her coltfriend start getting beat up, as she covered her eyes, unable to see more of it.

"SOARIN PLEASE! STOP!" She yelled again, trying to talk some sense into him. Soarin ignored her, and started to punch Hoops more.

But the pain that was currently beating through Soarin’s nose was weakening the poor stallion. Of course, if he let Dash see this, it would only make her worry more. And that’s not at all what Soarin wanted!

Firefly and Blaze looked at each other, forgetting about their past argument, and galloping over to their daughter, who was now in a complete state of shock.

“Honey? Are you alright?” Firefly asked. Rainbow let a few tears escape her eyes, fearfully stealing a glance at the fight going on before her hooves.

“Give up already?” Hoops asked menacingly. Soarin grunted, and shook his head.

“Never.” He said simply, punching the stallion once again.

From the corner of the room, Twilight Sparkle used her magic to quickly summon Spike, who was all the way back in Ponyville.

There was a faint burst in the room, as Spike appeared out of thin air.

“What? Where am I? Twilight? What’s going on… WOAH!” Spike said, catching sight of the combat battle taking place in the room. Twilight shook her head.

“No time to explain. Take a letter!” She said quickly. Spike nodded frantically, getting out a scroll, and a pen.

    “Go!”

“Alright. Dear Princess Celestia. Please get the Canterlot Police to arrive as soon as possible to my parent’s house. Something terrible is happening. From, Princess Twilight Sparkle.” Twilight said quickly, as Spike rushed it all down onto the paper. He gave her a nod once he was complete, and sent it off.

“Done!” He said, clapping his claws together.

A few minutes later, the front doors burst open, revealing four police ponies, and Princess Celestia herself.

The second the police saw the sight in front of them, they rushed in and broke up the fight. Soarin gasped.

“Sir!” He said, saluting them roughly. The stallions glared at him.

“What is going on here?” The first one asked. Soarin gulped.

“Sir. I was acting on self defense. This one here started the fight.” He said, gesturing over to Hoops, who was glaring to Soarin. The police nodded, turning to the crowd.

“Is this true?” Another one asked them. Blaze was the first to speak.

“Yes. I believe Hoops here was emotionally abusing my daughter, Rainbow Dash. Soarin is her coltfriend, and was simply defending her.” He said. The police nodded, and went to Hoops.

“You’re coming with us.” They said, leading him out of the room. Hoops shot everypony in the room another glare, before going out with the police.

Several medical ponies then rushed inside, instantly spotting Soarin, and leading him onto a stretcher.

“Soarin?” Dash mumbled, getting up to see what was going on.

“We’re taking him over to the Canterlot Hospital.” One of the nurses said. Dash gasped, but nodded.

“Alright.” She said, sagging away. The nurse then looked towards the crowd again.

“We can have one pony riding with Soarin in the ambulance.” She said. Dash instantly looked up again, and trotting back to the nurse.

“I’ll go.” She said simply. Blaze was about to protest, but then remembered what had just happened. Reluctantly, he backed away, getting ready for the taxi ride to the hospital.

The ride was quiet, as Dash and Soarin simply held onto each other’s hooves, staring into each other’s eyes. The nurse, who had been observing them, looked over to Rainbow.

“He sure is important to you.” She said, marking her observations. Dash nodded glumly.

“Yeah. Soarin’s everything to me.” She said, as Soarin closed his eyes. Dash sighed, as the nurse nodded.

“He’ll be fine. Trust me.” She said, reassuring the cyan coated mare. Dash gave her a small smile.

“I sure hope so…” She said sadly.

A few minutes later, the ambulance, with all of Dash’s friends and family riding behind them, all arrived to the hospital.

Soarin was rolled inside, Dash galloping besides him.

Soon, the stretcher arrived at a private room. Dash was not let inside, but she stayed by the door the entire time Soarin was inside. Firefly

came up to her.

“Are you alright, Dashie?” She asked her with concern. Dash didn’t answer, leaning onto the window.

“Do you think he’ll be okay, Mom?” She asked the older mare. Firefly was taken aback by the question, but decided to investigate further.

“Dash. Let me ask you something. How much do you care about Soarin?” She asked her daughter. Dash gave her a small smile.

“Soarin’s my world. I love him with all my heart… I would strap my wings behind my back, and jump off a plane for him. I can’t bear seeing him like this… I wish that idiot Hoops was never born…” She mumbled, putting a little more force at the end. Firefly’s eyes widened.

“Wow… I don’t think I loved your father as much as you do to Soarin, at five months…” She said. Dash smiled softly, and nodded.

A few hours later, a doctor came out.

“Soarin Skies?” He asked in a deep voice. Everypony there stood up, and nodded.

“I have good news, and bad news. The good news is that he’ll survive." The doctor started. Dash breathed a sigh of relief.

"The bad news is, that he’s going to need surgery.” He finished. Everypony in the room gasped.

    "SURGERY?"
