Becoming Whole

I woke up, before Applejack to an annoying, somewhat crampy feeling and sighed.

Well, I knew it was coming and it's not like I even had it that bad if the stories my friends mentioned were true. I pulled up my mental checklist.

Remind yourself that everything's okay
Cast the lovely analgesic spell they taught you in health class
Supplement analgesic spell with a small dose of acetaminophin
Insert a tampon and double check the extras in your saddle bag
Re-remind yourself that everything's okay and carry on with your life unfazed

Satisfied I had everything under control, I slipped away to the bathroom to take care of things. A spell, a pill, a tampon and some cleanup later I couldn't say I was back to 100%, but I'd say I was at least at 88.5%.

I slipped gently back into bed. AJ promplty curled herself around me. It was enough to get me to a 95.2%.

My marefriend tensed. "Oh... Okay..."

Something was off... I rustled the covers turning to her. "AJ are you okay? I mean, if you really want to, I wouldn't mind..."

My marefriend shook her head. "No, no... It ain't like that Twi it's just..." She looked away, "It ain't important. Why don't we double check your checklist for all the things we need to do before Cadence and Shining show up?"

Okay, now I knew something was wrong. She hadn't even mentioned breakfast. I pulled her in close. "AJ, I love you. Whatever is bothering you I care about it."

She bit her lip. "It's nothin' just..." She tried to look anywhere but at me.

"I'm... I'm a little jealous." She said finally.

I blinked at her. "Of what?"

She blinked back. "Uh... You know, your period. I don't get to have those."

I stared at her. "What?" My mind was firing in all directions. That didn't make any sense! Periods sucked! The only positive thing that could be said about them was that they were a necessary part of the mamalian reproductive cyc...

And then I had it. I squeezed her with all my might. "AJ, I... I..."

My marefriend chuckled ruefully, gently stroking my back. "It's alright sugar cube. If I was in a wheelchair I wouldn't be complainin' every time I saw someone walking by. The whole gettin' pregnant thing, that's just something awesome that you can do."

She kissed me, warmly and happily on the forehead. Sometimes I liked those better than the ones on my mouth. "And for the record, if y'all are one of those girls who feel gross instead of doing that whole 'orgasmic relief of symptoms' thing I ain't never gonna force you."

I tilted my head. "Huh? What 'orgasmic relief of symptoms' thing?"

AJ looked lost. "Y'all don't know about that? When a pony with a uterus is on their period some find that orgasms are a good way to relieve the pain and stress. It makes sense when you think about it what with all the endorphins being released and all. On the flip side, some ponies get extra cramping due to the musculature rippling, but it's one of those 'your mileage may vary' deals."

I stared at her. Coming from anypony else I would have taken it as a transparent ploy to get me into bed, but with AJ..."That... That's actually kind of fascinating. Where did you learn about that?"

My marefriend blushed. "Ah... Ah may have read a few gynecology textbooks back in the day... Ya' know, dreaming of what could be?"

I will admit that was an area of my studies I hadn't given much thought. It was definitely interesting to see Applejack's scholarly side though, even if the motivation for learning came from a dark place. I nuzzled her neck, "You'll have to show me those sometime."

She snorted. "Ironically they're probably piled in with all those other books in the shed."

I smiled... Celestia she was warm against my fur. "Fascinating, all the more reason to keep digging into those books... Although, I think in this case experimentation would be more appropriate."

AJ's face lit up... But after a moment she frowned and gave me a more serious look. "Twi, the whole 'sex during your period' thing is just something I read about years back. Ah have no idea if it'll actually do any good."

I raised an eyebrow. "Did your research indicate any chance of serious complications?"

She shook her head. "No... They emphasized it was safe, but it hurt for some mares." She looked grim. "Twi I really don't want to hurt you."

I chuckled. "AJ, if you hurt me by accident while we're trying something I asked to do, then it's my fault, seriously aren't you curious?"

I could practically see the gears turning in her head for a moment. Finally Applejack blushed. "Okay sugarcube... but I'm gonna take this slow."

I nodded... And then I spread my legs.
