David and Aiden: A story of a happy couple
Valentine's Day: The worst day of the year
Previous ChapterNext Chapter
Note: I actually do hate Valentine's Day. No offense to those who actually love it. And just know that I will never actually be rude to my husband like I kinda do in this chapter. So if I offend you in any way, or if I make you feel bad for liking Valentine's day, just know, I do not intend it, and...
Aiden: David, just get on with the story.
David: Ok, I'm just saying. I do not intend to...
Audience: GET ON WITH IT!!!
The sun rose upon that day. The couple lay in bed as they dreamed the night away. The sun shone over the couple on the bed, and the brightness convinced Aiden to get up, and to start the day. As he trotted to the bathroom to get himself ready, he happened to notice the calendar. And boy was he excited! Oh! how he was excited to see the date. The calendar simply said "February 14: Valentine's Day". Aiden quickly looked over to David, who was still in bed, seemingly sleeping. He ran to the bed, and shook David to wake him up.
"David, wake up!!" Aiden shouted. David moaned as he opened his heavy eyes.
"Morning hon," David said with a tired voice,"What's the occasion?"
"Oh come on! Don't tell me you don't know!" Aiden said with glee,"It's Valentine's Day!" The smile on David's face quickly went into sort of a frown.
"Oh," David replied,"Wait, are you sure that today isn't just a normal day?"
"Nope," Aiden replied,"Pretty sure of what it is. I even looked at the calendar." David sighed. He turned over, and pretended to be sleeping. "Oh come on sleepy head! Lets get ready. I have a big day planned ahead of us. I was thinking of going out to a restaurant, have some wine, go out for a walk, and at the end of the day, they're having a dance in the town hall. I wanted to take you there."
"Well, wake me up when that dance is on another day." David said.
"I-I'm sorry?" Aiden asked confused.
"You can save me that waltz for another day." David replied.
"I'm not sure I know what you're saying David." Aiden replied.
"I'm not going." David finally said.
Aiden quickly flinched. "What do you mean, baby?" Aiden said.
"I don't want to go. I just want to stay here in bed, and relax. I'd love to go to a dance with you... on another day. Today just isn't right." David explained.
"Why not, David?" Aiden asked,"Today's perfect. It's Valentine's Day. It's the perfect day for couples to truly show their love, and not get looked at wrong. Especially same-sex couples. Why not today?"
David sighed heavily. "I knew this day would come. I couldn't stop it even if I tried," David said. He finally turned around to face his lover, and without hesitation said these words, "I hate Valentine's Day."
Aiden looked at him, but didn't want to upset him anymore,"Look, I don't want to be demanding, but at least go to the dance with me. It'll be fun. Come on."
David turned around. He thought about it, and realized his past was getting to him "Just do it for him," David thought to himself,"You'll be fine. This doesn't mean you have to love Valentine's Day again." David looked at Aiden again, and smiled,"I'll go with you."
Aiden squealed with joy. "Oh! thank you David!" Aiden shouted,"I promise you won't regret it. You have my word."

The couple walked over to the town hall for the dance. Aiden wore a black suit, and a purple tie. David wore a pink dress, and a pair of high heels. His hair was done to part both ways on his head. He wore a dark red lipstick, and some blush on his face. The two walked in, and sat down at a table. Wine was poured for them, and the table had a pot of roses. Many couples were already dancing on the dance floor, enjoying themselves. David sat there spinning his wine glass, watching the wine spiral. It was a quiet silence... a very awkward one.
"So... do you want to dance or something?" Aiden finally said trying to break the ice.
David sighed,"I wouldn't mind." He said, giving a smile. Aiden took him by the hoof, and the two walked onto the dance floor. David suddenly snapped, and held Aiden close to him.
A Good Heart by Elton John
Aiden: Don't shy away from coming in
Closer still my darling friend
Don't slip, don't trip on life
I bear the moon
Inside your eyes
David: Don't be afraid of all my years
What you see or what you hear
It's all yours and yours and yours alone
Yours for the taking, so take it home
Oh it's a good heart
To be a part of
Just a soulful woman tend to love
The kind of love you never knew
Oh it's a good heart from me to you
Oh sure it's cracked a time or two
But him and me, we pulled on through
I've seen 'em come, I've seen 'em go
Some went through fast
Some went real slow
Aiden: So take a chance, and take your time
Reading my face between the lines
I love real good, and I love you
My heart and me
That's what we do
Oh it's a good heart
To be a part of
Just a soulful women tend to love
The kind of love you never knew
Oh it's a good heart from me to you
Both: Oh it's a good heart
To be a part of
Just a soulful women tend to love
The kind of love you never knew
Oh it's a good heart from me to you
The kind of love you never knew
Oh it's a good heart, from me to you
Oh it's a good heart, from me to you
Audience: *cheers as David and Aiden go into a heartfelt kiss; throws different types of flowers at the screen*
David and Aiden enjoyed the kiss. They felt something at this moment.Especially David, because at this moment he realized what day it was. He slowly pushed Aiden from his lips, but he still held him.
"Well, uh..." David began,"Nice and tender, eh?"
"Yeah." Aiden replied. David walked back to the table, wiping his lips. He sat down, and waited to see if Aiden would do the same. He did, and by the time he got to the table, David was looking down, playing with his hooves. "You ok, David?" Aiden asked.
"I'm just..." David began,"I need to get some air." David said walking out of the building. Aiden was left wondering. He wasn't sure of what to do. He decided to follow David, and see if he'd talk about what's on his mind. Aiden walked out, and saw David walking in circles.
"David, what's the matter?" Aiden asked.
"I... I'd rather not talk about it..." David replied.
"C'mon, you can tell me," Aiden replied,"I'll listen to you."
"i don't want to be here..." David said,"I want to be home. I never wanted to come here. I just wanted to spend Valentine's by myself, likes it's been for years... was that too much to ask?"
"But... I... I just wanted to spend time with you... make you happy..." Aiden explained.
"Well, you didn't!" David shouted," Valentine's is the the worst holiday of the year, and I don't want to be part of it, ok?!"
"But, David, it's a perfect day for me and you."
"I would've rather spent time with you on a different day!" David shouted,"It would've been better than this God forbidden day!" David began to tear up. His tears made the make-up into black streaks of liquid,"Look, I love you,ok? I always will. And, if you love me back... just... just... FOR THIS ONE DAY, LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!" David shouted as he turned his back and started to run. He sobbed so loud you could hear him far away. Aiden wanted to go after him, but he decided not to. He just walked along the walkway. He stopped by a flower shop and bought a bouquet of roses. He didn't know where David went, so he decided to head home, and try to call him to see where he went. But once he opened the door, there was a sound of sobbing upstairs.
Aiden walked up the stair, and opened the bedroom door. The room was completely dark, the only light from the hallway. David laid on the bed, sobbing.
"David?" Aiden called," Look, I'm sorry, ok? I shouldn't have forced you to enjoy a day you've had a past with. I should've left you alone."
"No," David replied,"I should be the sorry one. I should've been more grateful. So many others, ignoring me on this day. I should've been happy my own fiance decided to be different. I'm sorry honey." Aiden set the roses down, and crawled into the bed with David. He held him close, and tried to comfort him (it worked). He kissed his cheek, and told him it'd be ok.
"How about this?" Aiden asked," If you decide to be in bed all day next year, I'll be here with you." Aiden said as he handed David the roses.
David sniffed the roses and sighed with content. "Thank you Aiden. Maybe I'll reconsider, but... it may take some guts." David looked at the roses,"They're beautiful."
"Just like you." Aiden replied. David wiped his tears, and held Aiden close, while laying down, snuggling his lover.
The last thing David though before drifting off was,"Best Valentine's Day ever."
