Zap And Screecher

After a good whole morning of "hard labor" they finally managed to collect a total of five ice shards and twenty-five lightning shards from each of the villagers. As the two trotted back to Zap’s uncle’s hut, they instead walked to Tinker as she was working on a suit.

"Hey nuts n' bolts! How's that freeze suit thing going?"

She rolled her eyes to his "insult" before turning towards Zap as he hoofed the sack that was filled with the ice shards she needed.

"Wow thanks guys! You have gotten enough shards to power the shield. But sadly, I did some calculations on how far the canyon is from the south village to the west village, it is approximately twenty miles. So by the time you reached 10 miles the shield will be at zero and you'll be overcooked."

Screecher lets out a loud gasped before he fainted, Tinker rolled her eyes again.

"Don't worry luckily theirs cooling vents that are placed in the canyon.  They say one of the ancients once placed those there for a safer travel but it never went as great as they thought, but somehow the vents were closed off.  I've retract the pipelines and they lead straight towards a temple in the jungle near the village.  Maybe there could be some sort of switch inside that could activate all of the closed vents all over Kryo."

Zap showed her the sack that was filled with the lightning shards.

"Oh, you got these from the villagers?  I've read about these types of artifacts.  They say if you collect all twenty-five of these, you’re supposed to give them to something called the oracle.  It said there has been one spotted in each village.  The one here is near the edge of a cliff just close by the entrance of the jungle."

Zap scratched his chin in thought for a second before nodding, giving her the cluster they found back at the mountain.

"I'll be sure to give this to father.  It'll help him on his research about these artifacts you found."

Zap smiled at her before he carried Screecher on his back flying away.  After a quick five seconds they reached the edge of the cliff.  Zap gently landed slowly walking towards the strange ancient object that seemed to have been around longer then anypony.  He slowly raised his hoof slowly leaning toward it.  As soon as his hoof made direct contact.  Its "eyes" started to glow as it soon spoke with a deep voice.

"Who awakens the Oracle?  Wait... one of you has the pure electricity surging within you... from the fore times I've been watching and waiting for the chosen one to stand before me... present to me the Lightning shards you possess to receive a legendary weapon."

Zap blinked faintly surprised before shaking his head as he dumped the shards out from his small sack near it.  The Oracle began to levitate the shards in mid air swirling them in a circle. They spun rapidly before all the shards formed into one lightning like whip as it was placed gently on the ground. He picked it up staring at it confused.

"Use this to defend yourself and your allies on your journey against this great evil you will soon face in the future."

The voice starts to fade away and so did the glow.  Zap blinked staring at his new weapon confused on how it works since he never used an actual whip before in his life but he shrugged before strapping it around the left side of him before dashing off entering the jungle.  Many hours have passed since Zap came across the Oracle as they wanders through the jungle... sigh... they had gotten himself lost again, trying to find the temple that Tinker once told him about not too long ago.  After a very long time of wandering through the jungle and… eating wild animals senselessly because why not?  Zap suddenly smashed his face against a door, causing him to fall backward and Screecher to fall off his back landing with a thud, getting back up with a groan.

"U-Ugh, what now I was having a good--- W-Where the heck are we at now!?"

He looked around left and right while Zap was staring at what he ran into.  It appears to be a door.  Zap looked straight up noticing a few towards one taller than the rest, scratching the back of his head, Screecher got up dusting himself off standing beside him.

"What are we doing here anyway Zap?  Especially out here, now we can't find our way back to the village."

Zap blinked looking back at the door as he slowly placed his hoof on the center of it, as he did; the door began to open, shaking his head.

"OK.  You with ancient crap are a baaaaad mix."

Zap rolled his eyes before he entered as Screecher followed as the two walked down the hall before the door closed.  After a while of exploring from hallway to hallway for hours, they walked through one last hallway, Screecher began to groan.

"Ugh, we've been here for the ancient knows how long!  I'm telling you we're lost thanks to your stupid--- Wuaaagh!"

Something pulled him by the tail dragging him across the hall leading to a small room where Zap was facing a giant venus fly trap, but its head looked more crocodile like. It hung Screecher in mid-air above its head.  It lunges its vines towards Zap, as he quickly reacted dodging each vine that was lunging towards him.  He quickly pulled out his lightning whip, the vines lunged his jaws towards him, Zap quickly thrashed against its vines cutting half as the giant venus fly trap howled in pain averting its' howl to a snarl.  Zap bit on his whip glaring at the beast as he gets into a battle position, ready for combat.

The fly trap lets out a roar, lunging more of its vines towards him, Zap quickly stood on his hind legs spinning around and around having most of its vines shredded up.  As soon as he stopped spinning, it thrashed its vine across his side having Zap impact against the wall.  He groaned getting back on his hooves shaking himself off. He quickly thrashed his whip slicing its' vine in half.  The plant monster let out another howl in pain pulling its vines back into the ground using the one that has Screecher, trying to flatten him it caused Screecher to scream in pain and agony, having been slammed against the ground multiple times.  Zap continuously dodged as he managed to get an opening thrashing his whip against it slicing through, as it lets out another howl, Screecher landed on his beak and yelped in pain before he got back up rubbing it before glaring at Zap.

"It’s about time you got me off that--"

The giant venue fly trap lets out another roar making Screecher scream before quickly climbing back on Zap’s shoulders.

"Hurry up before it tries to eat me again!"

Zap stared at the giant venus fly trap observing it as he noticed something blue and faintly glowing in its' belly.  The giant venue fly trap’s vines were popping out from the ground as it lunges every last one of its vines towards him, Screecher yelled out loudly.

"ZAAAAAAAAAAAP!"

Zap quickly dashed, dodging each vine attempting to crush them, each smashed through the floor as soon as they gotten closer to its belly it attempt to bite them in whole.  Zap bucked his charged up back hooves against the monsters’ head away shocking it as it lets out a long howl in pain.  Zap quickly charged up his hind hooves again bucking the venus fly traps’ belly as hard as he cold.  The venus fly trap was howling and yelping in pain after being electrocuted.  In time its entire body and vines were nothing but pile of ash.  Screecher hops off his shoulders, celebrating.

"Wheeew! Oh yeah! That outta teach you not to mess with me."

Zap rolled his eyes trotted towards the blue glow from the center, Screecher followed before lifting what appears to be another blue crystal cluster.  He walked back Zap crouches down as Screecher hopped back on his shoulders.

"So how are we going to get out of here?"

Zap looked around noticing something else was under the pile.  It was a strange button that had a snowflake in the middle.  Zap raised his hoof pressing it down but nothing seems to happen in the room.  A beeping sound came from his trans-communicator as the voice of Tinker could be heard.

"Woow!  I'm near the entrance to Magma Canyon and all the vents are now open and maybe all through out the region. Good work guys!  Meet me back at Magma Canyon I have the suit ready for you once we meet up."

Transmission ended, Screecher lets out a groan.

"But how are we going to get out of here?!"

Zap looked around once more before noticing something from his left.  He trotted towards the pile dusting the ashes off and uncovered a Lightning pad similar to the one back at the training course as he looked up, the sky was visible.  He stood on top of the pad charging up his hooves before instantly launching them straight out as they're now way above the temple.  Zap quickly hovered and Screecher kept a good grip of the crystal as Zap began flying off towards the entrance of the jungle now trotting towards Magma Canyon.

“Let’s hope Magma Canyon doesn’t have a giant fire breathing plant monster. .  .”
