Princess Twilight Sparkle was just going to Canterlot on royal duty, therefore leaving Ponyville defenseless. Who knew that things would go wrong and an ancient force from the past would try to conquer Ponyville in the time that she's gone?

It isn't until she receives a strange letter from her friends that her suspicions grow, and she makes the trip back to Ponyville only to discover the shocking truth: the town is in ruins and everypony has disappeared, leaving her the dangerous objective of finding them all before it's too late.

Meanwhile, while she embarks on this desperate journey, she doesn't realize her every movement is being watched from the shadows...
