Sealed In Crystal

Celestia felt awful. She wished she had been kinder and more appreciative of Discord's kindness. But smiling seemed impossible then. And even more so now. She wished he was here again. Pulling pranks on the gaurds, bending small parts of reality. She missed their history so much, wanting to relive their carefree days. Before she carried so many secrets and burdens. She drifted off into almost forgotten times. Over 2,000 years ago.

        They had meet when Luna was so little. She could barely walk. And the blizzard. It was so cold. So awful. And then, they found him. Celestia was also very young. She could barely fly, let alone care for her sister.

       They stumbled upon him in a cave where he was tending a fire. His back was turned to her, so Celestia tried to sneak in and steal a piece of wood for a torch. But as she came closer her vision became clearer. She was just behind the fire when she saw him clearly. A gasp slipped from her mouth. He turned to see her, mouth agape, eyes wide. She had never seen anything like him. So many animals, one creature. After a moment of gawking, she remembered her manners.

       "H..H..Hello," she stammered, "I am Celestia." She bowed, as this strange creaure radiated power.  "I...Um, was wondering if, um, you would uh, let us warm, ourselves for a um, little bit? I promise it won't take long," she added.

       "Us?" he asked, "I only see you. By the way, I'm Discord." He help out his lion paw for her to shake. She reached out with her hoof hesitantly at first, then gave his paw a good shake. She suddenly felt a jolt go up her leg. She let out a help and jumped back. Discord laughed until a dark shape stumbled in front of Celestia.

      "No hurt Sissy! Luna mad at you!" she shouted angrily. Her horn glowed as she furiously threw the stones on the floor of the cave. Discord caught one easley. He snapped and the other stones disappeared.

       "Please don't hurt her," Celestia murmured. Discord looked surprised.

        "Hurt her? Why on earth would I do that? I never wanted to hurt you either. I just wanted a laugh," Discord looked apologetically at Celestia, "And you're welcome to stay as long as you wish." He flew to the entrance of the cave and picked up an huge lump of snow. He then took it to the fire, and dumped on top. The fire grew larger and warmer. Celestia didn't understand. How was that possible? Discord saw her look of disbelief and chuckled. He explained his chaotic powers, complete with demonstrations as Luna and Celestia watched in fascination.

            They spent many days together. Luna and Celestia gained more power, and Celestia grew much closer to Discord. Luna was still suspicious of him though. Then came the worst winter yet. The wind was always howling the skies always dark, the snow forever falling. But in the cave they were warm and safe. Celestia began to feel she loved this chaotic being. As intimidating as he was, she saw only a kind stallion with a good heart.

        At long last, the sisters decided to go out and explore. The promised that they would send Discord letters via magic all the time.

        Celestia knew nothing of what Discord did while they were gone, but got many letters from him. They were so frequent that it was as if they were still together. When Equestria was founded, they turned to Celestia and Luna as leaders, as they where alicorns. They invited Discord to live with them in their castle where they lived.

       Several years past and, Discord took over. Celestia was now devoted to her subjects, had more power, as well as a cutie mark. After many failed attempts of reasoning and defeating him without hurting him. Finally, they had to use the elements.

       Celestia was always pained by the memory. When he was free, she thought she could reform him. She was wrong. She hid any feels for Discord from everypony else. Other than anger.

          After reformation Celestia's heart soared. She tried to get what they had back but no avail. After siding with Teirik, Celestia was crestfallen. With Discord it was always up and down and up. After the flowers though, they seemed to be closer than ever before. But now, what she wanted for the past thousand years she might have destroyed.

        There was a knock on the door. Awoken from the thoughts, Celestia told whoever was at the door to come in. Luna peeked in. "Sister? Its, um..time for the sunrise."

         "Oh, right." Celestia shook as if to get rid of the unpleasant thoughts and memories she so often drowned in. She sighed, and rose the sun as Luna cleared away the night.
