Flutterbat's Suitor

History was once again in the making as hundreds of citizens gathered outside of the Vampire Kingdom. Everyone looked back at all the accomplishments our civilization gained, in time because of that. Economic wealth flourished throughout the land and the Vampire Kingdom began a major power, my people were proud to have my mother govern them after four generations.

A huge wave of the news media gathered alongside the crowd, the first time they formed in large numbers at the capital was for the royal dinner between me and Norman.

Inside the mansion, he was sitting down with his elbows resting on his knees, he had become accustomed to becoming a vampire and learning about our history, my mother was gone for a few months due to foreign affairs, so she left the responsibility of taking care of the Vampire Kingdom in me and Norman's hands.

It had been a tremendous day for everyone and a typical work day for Norman as he spend a couple hours reading and signing a collection of documents. some of them were based on approving new construction projects, while others were simply based on renewing business deals and treaties with other kingdoms. However, his duties were simply put on hold when I walked in the room, I wore a long purple dress covering in a beautiful dark black lining across the top of the dress, as I walked towards him his eyes lit up, he stood up and gave me a quick hug.

I leaned towards his ear, "Its time for the dinner."

He smiled and went down to my child-bearing stomach and kissed it gently, sending chills down my spine, he stretched and yawned as we linked hands.

My mother's sister, Fleurette; and her advisers were already at the dining hall by the time Norman and me arrived. The table was cloth in a white sheet because my aunt's eating habits were, to put it, barbaric, I couldn't blame her, she has been a warrior for centuries now, fighting valiantly to maintain our freedom as a kingdom, so she could eat how ever she liked, and from the look of their starved faces, the women were ready to ravage meat at any notice.

Fleurette smiled warmly as we welcomed the two at the table. "Ah my little Princess! It's great to see you! And Norman, always normal as ever!"

The room erupted with laughter as we took our seats with Norman sitting beside me. Fleurette had a lot of respect for Norman because he was the first non-natural vampire to be with a royal family member (Like myself). And he had also been doing a great job with taking care of his new people with open arms.

He stood up and tapped his glass, alerting everyone.

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen of the Vampire Kingdom, I apologize for being tardy for such a special occasion," Norman gave a quick glance at me, "It's pretty hard to take care of my growing family, especially the way Flutterbat keeps me awake with her wallowing and spooning at my back..." He said softly, I hissed, my cheeks rose to a usual shade of red. Everyone giggled and awed in affection.

I cleared my throat, "Shall we begin our dinner now?"

"Why of course!" Norman clapped his hands, at that moment servants walked over with bottles of red champagne imported from different kingdoms. They all poured a glass of the substance, except for me. Due to my pregnancy, I just requested for some apple juice instead.

"A toast to peace, life, and prosperity" Fleurette raised her glass in the air, inviting the two of us for a toast.

We clinked our glasses and repeated her words.

Dinner was pretty good, but I was irritated by the way Norman was playing footsie with me, I sighed absently twirled my food around with my fork.

"So how's the little one doing?" Fleurette said sipping her drink.

"Doing fine, we still don't know the gender yet." I said while sipping my apple juice.

"Oh really?" My aunt said raising her eyebrow.

"Yeah, Luciska scanned there for hours but no sign of the true gender, just only kicking." Norman said, everyone listened to our conversation, I took this moment to say something that'll comfort him, on the verge of being a father could be pretty stressful, I held his hand in front of everyone, camera's were flashing everywhere.

"If we get a boy, I wish he'll look like you." I smiled and kissed him.

"And Flutterbat...I wish the girl... will look just like you..."

We started to kiss in front of everyone without showing any shame, everyone including Fluerette awed our actions and clapped, it was an amazing occasion. The next thing Norman did was take me to the ballroom. He spun me around softly as a waltz. I blushed and leaned on his chest, I was dreaming about our future and my love for him.
