Author's Note

This is only chapter one so this story isn't complete yet. I'll update the story when I can.

A Hateful Return

It's a rainy day in Cloudsdale, the Wonderbolts are flying around the city and are growing more concerned for the safety of the pegasi that live there more and more as they fly around attempting to find what they perceived to be the danger that would come soon.

"I've often quoted Fillidric Nietzsche when there are days like this. She who fights monsters should see to it that she doesn't become a monster." said Spitfire

"Why do you bring that up?" Said Soarin

"I don't know. I just guess that I just feel like something awful will be coming to us tonight." Replied Spitfire

Just then a green pegasus with orange hair flew right up to the two Wonderbolts, Smirking as she stared into the eyes of Spitfire. She was someone Spitfire knew but someone who hadn't been seen in more than two years. She was the pegsus that recklessly endangered the Wonderbolt Academy flight cadets with a tornado and nearly killed The Mane 6. She would have inadvertently killed them if if wasn't for Rainbow Dash's heroic save. She was the pegasus that got kicked out of the Wonderbolts and who was disgraced by Spitfire herself. She is Lightning Dust.

"What are you doing here Lightning Dust? I already kicked you out of the Academy and banned you from any of the Wonderbolts performances." Asked Spitfire

"I don't care about seeing you losers perform, all I care about is getting back at the Pony who ruined my chance to be the best! Where is Rainbow Dash?" Demanded Lightning Dust

"Do you honestly think we will tell you? You've endangered enough ponies with your reckless idiocy you stupid..." Soarin was just about to finish his insult before Lightning Dust bucked him in the face causing him to fly wildly out of control and crash onto a building in the distance.

"What are you doing?! Why are you doing this?!" Said Spitfire

"I'm simply a mare who desires vengeance. You will tell me where Rainbow Dash is or Soarin will not get out of this city in one piece." Said Lightning Dust

"Okay. Okay. Rainbow Dash is at The Ponyville Town Square. Now please don't hurt Soarin anymore!" Yelled Spitfire

"Much better Spitfire. Now Dashie is about to know who is the greatest flyer in Equestria!" Screamed Lightning Dust

Lightning Dust flies towards Ponyville as Spitfire tries to aid her partner and get him to the nearest hospital. Lightning Dust meanwhile travels over to the Town Square and creates a tornado just like she did at the Academy but this time she intentionally uses the tornado to attack civilians! Rainbow Dash shows up, flies into the tornado and manages to spin it out flying in the opposite direction to dissipate the tornado.

"What was that all about?!" Asked Rainbow Dash.

"Yeah Rainbow Crash! I endangered innocent lives just cause I wanted to this time! I didn't even want to go back to the Wonderbolt Academy I just wanted to mess this town up and get my revenge! What are you gonna do now?" Gloated Lightning Dust

"No... It can't be... Lightning Dust?" Said Rainbow Dash in a shocked voice.

"Close Dashie. It's the new and improved Lightning Dust, and now its time for my vengeance to commence!" Said Lightning Dust

"You know what... I'm sick of your recklessness. You came to get revenge? Fine I guess I'll have to beat you in the sky to save Ponyville." Said Rainbow Dash.

"Well let's go Dashie! Let's see what 2 years of rigorous training has done for me!" Said Lightning Dust

The two Pegasai fly high up into the sky and the battle begins. Rainbow Dash grabs a cloud and attempts to strike Lightning Dust with a lightning bolt but it misses allowing Lightning Dust to buck her right on the flank. She then flies high up in the air and grabs a cloud she uses to send a torrential rain that sends Rainbow Dash careening towards the ground. Rainbow Dash gets up and attempts to hit Lightning Dust with some tornados that she conjures from her wings but Lightning Dust avoids them all and headbutts Rainbow Dash. Rainbow gets up and flies far way before attempting to hit Lightning Dust with a Sonic Rainboom as a last resort. Unfortunately Lightning Dust gets out of the way and bucks her down causing Rainbow to crash to the ground ending the battle. Rainbow is wondering why nopony is helping her out.

"What is wrong with all of you? Somepony help me!" Yelled Rainbow Dash

The Wonderbolts arrive on the scene to assist Rainbow Dash as Lightning Dust flies away to escape any responsibility for her violent act.

"The Wonderbolts... Thank Celestia for the Wonderbolts." Said Rainbow Dash

"What caused Lightning Dust to go berserk like that Rainbow Dash?" Asked Spitfire

"I'm not sure. At this point she has become a psychopath! That maniac is going to attack me again when she gets the chance!" Yelled Rainbow Dash

"Rainbow calm down, I'll find Lightning Dust and bring her to justice. But I think you should take some time away from her and reconnect with your pals. The less time you have with that delinquent the better." Said Spitfire

Princess Twilight flies in and escorts Rainbow Dash back to her house in Cloudsdale along with Fluttershy. Rainbow Dash trots inside and has a conversation with her two winged friends.

"Uh thanks Twilight. I appreciate your assistance. I just need some time to find out how to solve this problem." Said Rainbow Dash

"Well Rainbow i don't understand. How did Lightning Dust come back after all this time?" Asked Fluttershy

"She said she trained for years to one up me" Said Rainbow Dash

"One up you?" Questioned Fluttershy

"I know! Who knew she would endanger the lives of the cadets at the Academy and then try to go after me as well?" Said Rainbow Dash

"What are you planning to do Rainbow? Do you want me to look up Lightning Dust's information by checking the Wonderbolt historical database?" Asked Twilight Sparkle

"No there's only one thing I can do. I have to train. I have to become a master of airborne combat to defeat her in a rematch, preferably in front of all of Equestria so I can salvage my dignity!" Said Rainbow Dash

"Rainbow Dash isn't this exactly what Lightning Dust did for the last two years?" Asked Princess Twilight

"Yeah." Agreed Rainbow Dash

"And she ended up kicking your flank?" Finished Twilight

"Yeah... When you put it like that it really doesn't seem like the best choice. What do you recommend that I do?" Asked Rainbow Dash

"The more you fight the more she fights, it's your ego Rainbow that's the problem." Said Twilight

"Thanks for the news flash egghead." Snapped Rainbow Dash

"I'm just going to ignore that insult. Rainbow who's the opposite of Lightning Dust?" Asked Twilight

"I don't know." Said Rainbow Dash

"Come on think about it." Said Twilight

"Fluttershy?" Answered Rainbow Dash

"Perfect! Could you imagine me being as reckless and rude as Lightning Dust?" Said Fluttershy

"Of course not." Said Rainbow Dash

"So to end the rivalry between you two you need to be less aggressive, you need to take the high road. So if Lightning Dust attacked you up in the sky again..." Said Fluttershy

"Oh! You're right I wouldn't fight. I would fly away and try to reason with her." Said Rainbow Dash

"And if that doesn't work." Said Twilight

"I would file a complaint, get a restraining order and eventually Celestia would send Lightning Dust to the Moon or Tarturus." Said Rainbow Dash

Will Rainbow Dash convince Lightning Dust to change her ways? Will Lightning Dust ever be redeemed? Stay tuned for Chapter two coming soon!
