The Return of Lightning Dust

"But then she is going to discredit you and get praised for her recklessness just like last time! Then I've got to live with that shame! She'll get away with beating me in front of Ponyville!" Said Rainbow Dash

"But it ends." Said Princess Twilight

"You want Lightning Dust to get away with kicking my flank in front of the whole world?!" Questioned Rainbow Dash

"If it causes this conflict to end. Then yes." Said Princess Twilight

"No I can't do that Twilight. I have Pride, I'm strong, Lightning Dust needs to be taught a lesson." Said Rainbow Dash

"How many chances do you have to fix what has happened in the past Rainbow? A chance to redeem somepony that isn't so easily redeemed?" Said Princess Twilight

"Fine I'll find someone else who can help me become a master flier!" Yelled Rainbow Dash

Lightning Dust flies over to Rainbow Dash and Twilight and confronts her former colleague at the Academy.

"Ha Ha! What's good Rainbow?! I'm surprised you can still walk after what I did to you!" Yelled Lightning Dust

"Lightning Dust? How did you know where I was?" Questioned Rainbow Dash

"I was just going to say if you weren't such a coward that I was going to attempt to settle our rivalry with a race! Oh yeah and I told every pegasus in Cloudsdale so if you don't show up, well you know what that means right? You won't be pushing yourself to the limit like I have all these years!" Said Lightning Dust

"Oh I can push myself without killing others you reckless clod! You're on!" Accepted Rainbow Dash

Rainbow Dash heads over to Cloudsdale alongside Princess Twilight and Fluttershy and decides to train for the race.

"I can't believe I'm still fighting this mare! Wouldn't she change her ways after she got kicked out of the Academy?" Asked Rainbow Dash

"Rainbow Dash. You need to take all of that stress you've been feeling and put it towards something constructive just like this race! That way on the actual race day you'll have the strength to defeat Lightning Dust in front of the whole world!" Said Fluttershy and Princess Twilight

Rainbow Dash flew around the obstacle course stationed at the Academy which Spitfire allowed her to use for preparation. The thoughts circle in her mind "Should I win this race to shove the final nail in her proverbial coffin of should I lose just so I can give her what she wants?" She flies through the cloudy weather and even rides on the Dizzitron one more time to prepare herself for possible spin outs. She was ready for anything and she really needed to be.

"Alright, I'm ready as I'm going to be. Let's just finish this. I just want this to finally end between me and her." Said Rainbow Dash.

"Okay Rainbow Dash here's what I want you to do." Said Twilight

She whispers a strategy to Rainbow Dash before she goes to bed so she can get some rest before the big race arrives the next day.

On the day of the race all of Equestria arrives in unison to see the end of the rivalry between Rainbow and Lightning Dust. Rainbow has a look of determination on her face whereas Lightning Dust has a look of cockiness on her face. The pegasi get ready for the race to begin... And Spitfire fires a flare into the sky signalling the beginning of the race. Both Pegasi shoot right out of the gate and fly towards the other end of Cloudsdale.

"Are you ready to be humiliated again you complete joke?!" Said Lightning Dust as she attempts to bump Rainbow off course however Rainbow sees this coming and dodges out of the way causing Lightning Dust to veer off course.

"Oh I see now! You've been taking some time to practice? That won't stop me!" Lightning Dust grabs a cloud out of the sky and attempts to hit Rainbow Dash with the Thunder inside of it but it also misses as Rainbow Dash reaches the halfway mark.

"You won't get away with this Dash!" Lightning attempts to fly high above Rainbow Dash and rain upon her with another cloud but Rainbow speeds up and avoids the water as she reaches the final stretch. "Alright time for my last shot I'll turn up the heat!" Lightning Dust spins around and creates another tornado that she can control this time and she attempts to suck Rainbow inside it. Rainbow turns around and flies high in the air. She flies straight towards the tornado. Just before Rainbow veered out of control she hits Lightning Dust with the Buccaneer Blaze! Lightning Dust plummets out of the sky and lands safely on a cloud below her as Rainbow Dash speeds towards the finish line ending the race!

"Hooray Rainbow Dash! Lightning's name is now mud!" Said Derpy who just got back from buying a muffin for the occasion.

Rainbow Dash flies over to Lightning Dust and helps her regain consciousness.

"If I let you leave you are going to leave me alone! If I see you again I'm going to call the Wonderbolts and file for a restraining order!" Said Rainbow Dash

"You know this really didn't go the way I planned it. I will be the best and you can believe it. No matter what the cost shall be. Goodbye Rainbow. I hope we never see each other again." Said Lightning Dust as she flies over to Fillydelphia never to be seen in Cloudsdale ever again.

Rainbow Dash flies over to the crowd and embraces the one thing she has that Lightning Dust doesn't. Friends!
