Rarity's Insanity
I: Hopeful to Escape, Praying to Survive
Load Full StoryNext ChapterThe room Lyra Heartstrings was trapped in was dark; silent; seemingly empty. All that Lyra could hear was her own heart thumping against the bones of her rib cage. She squirmed, trying to run, trying to move her legs, but she could not. Lyra could feel that all four of her legs were being restrained, but she could not see anything around her.
All of a sudden, a bright light above Lyra blinded her as she realized she was staring directly into the only light source in the room. She looked around to glance at the rusty metal cuffs securing her to a table that was covered with light red stains that could've been anything.
Next to her, Lyra heard a scream. Another light flashed on, and she saw Bon Bon, Lyra's lifelong friend, strapped to an identical table, in a way identical to Lyra. The only difference was that Bon Bon's curly blue and pink mane was also strapped to the table. Lyra's, on the other hand, was free, however her legs had more restraints than Bon Bon's did.
"Lyra?" Bon Bon called out to Lyra, hoping for a reply. Lyra could see Bon Bon's eyes glisten in the yellow-tinted light, their dark blue hue showing off a lighter color in the light.
"I'm right here!" Lyra shouted as she noticed tears stream down her best friend's face.
Through tears of both joy and fear, Bon Bon said, "At least I'm with you, Ly. You're one of the greatest friends I've ever known, and whatever happens, you'll be here with me."
"Yeah, but what exactly is going to happen?" Lyra asked, still trying to squirm out of her ensnarement. She quickly turned her head to face the intimidating darkness that stared Lyra in the face.
"Allow me to explain, darling," a new, vaguely familiar voice spoke from the blackness. "After all, I'm the one who brought you here, so it's only fitting that I give reasons as to why."
Lyra turned to Bon Bon. "What the hell?..." she managed before she saw Bon Bon's horrified face. Bon Bon attempted to point to the blackness with her hoof, but failed miserably. She whispered, "Look!" and jerked her head in the direction of the dark room that lay ahead of them.
A ghost-white unicorn with a curly, dark purple mane was slowly trotting towards Lyra and Bon Bon. Her tail dragged along the floor with a loud noise that sounded like hair on a tile floor. Her eyes were almost the same shade of blue as Bon Bon's eyes, which seemed nearly impossible to Lyra.
"You remember me, don't you, Lyra?" the unicorn spoke with an accent that was clear but definitely there. "It's me, Rarity."
Lyra quickly remembered back to her childhood. She remembered Rarity, and not in a good way. "Heh, Rarity! I-I remember you!" she gasped in a tone of voice that made it obvious she was hiding something. "You've always been my favorite of the Elements of Harmony! You're the...the...most beautiful!" she added.
"Is that so?" Rarity asked, tiptoeing over to Lyra. Lyra's heart started beating faster and she tensed up. "Is that why you beat me up on the third day of school? Why you and your 'classmates' broke my hind legs and put me in a wheelchair for six months? Why I cried myself to sleep every single night for three straight years?"
Bon Bon stared at Lyra, her mouth a gaping black hole. "Lyra!" she yelled, tears forming in her eyes. "I thought you were one of the kindest ponies I've ever met! Why would you do such a thing?"
"She...she...she had shown us a dress design of hers. I pretended like it was the crappiest thing ever, but the truth is," -Lyra took a deep breath and continued,- "it was the best thing I'd ever seen a filly design. I was envious of her designing skills. it made me feel like nothing. So I had my friends completely smash her bones to pieces, just so I could feel better about myself. And, to make things worse, I threw the first punch, the one that broke her nose."
At this point, Bon Bon became speechless. Her eyes stared at Lyra, unblinking. All different kinds of thoughts about Lyra raced through Bon Bon's mind, and the only thing Lyra could do was cry as she thought about what she had done.
"I went home that day in pain, and I could never look at you again," Rarity said in a monotone voice. She stared at Lyra, a single tear forming in Rarity's eye. "But enough of that for now." Rarity wiped her eyes, removing any trace of tears. "Let's move on to you, Bon Bon."
Rarity quickly moved to Bon Bon. "I believe you'll remember this?" With her magic, she brought a piece of paper, obviously torn out of a notebook, up to Bon Bon's face. Very quickly, Bon Bon began to tear up. "Yes, I remember this," Bon Bon said, breaking down into tears.
"Bon Bon, what is that?" Lyra asked, nodding her head towards the piece of paper in front of Bon Bon's face.
"It's a note i wrote to her one day in class," Bon Bon began. "I had seen Rarity designing in class, and it actually looked decent. She had finished her work, and I didn't, which I found extremely frustrating. So I took out my notebook, and wrote her a really mean note, saying how ugly her hair was, and how she shouldn't design dresses because if she ever got that job, nopony would buy her clothes because of her ugly hair. I didn't hand it to her myself, though; I folded it into a small square and passed it around the classroom until it ended up in Rarity's hooves. She started bawling, and I silently congratulated myself on a job well done. At least, so I thought."
It was Lyra's turn to be shocked. "You would never do such a thing!" Lyra shouted. "I can't believe you! Writing a note saying something totally stupid like that! There's no reason to!"
"Yeah, but I didn't like her talent!" Bon Bon yelled back.
"Girls, girls," Rarity said. "I forgive both of you for these...terrible...acts."
"You do?" Lyra said.
"Then why are we chained to these tables?" Bon Bon added.
"Well, in order for me to fully forgive you, I need to show you just how your actions can affect a pony's life forever," Rarity said. "And I'm going to start with you, Lyra, since you were the first to scar me."
Rarity headed over to Lyra. On her way, Rarity made a carving knife appear with her magic. "Now, you covered my design in blood, Lyra," she began, as Lyra begged Rarity to stop walking towards her. "So I'm going to make sure you always remember that design."
"Rarity, no, please, don't!" Lyra yelled, tears running down her face, dripping down the sides of the table in a small waterfall. "I don't deserve this!"
"I'm sorry, darling," Rarity said. "Unfortunately, since I'm the element of Generosity, I give people what they deserve. And you deserve this."
Rarity used her magic to plunge the knife into Lyra's chest. Half of the medium-sized knife blade penetrated Lyra's skin, and blood began to gush out of Lyra's chest. Bon Bon couldn't believe her eyes, and vomited all over the tile floor, making the room reek of fresh puke.
Lyra cried out in pain, but all it did was make Rarity even happier. The knife began to slowly carve the design Rarity had made in school. To make things worse, as a reference, she used the paper that was covered with blood.
"STOP!" Lyra yelled. Tears were streaming down Lyra's face and splashing onto the table, mixing into her blood that was pouring out of her chest. "I'M BEGGING YOU!"
But Rarity didn't stop. Instead, she dug the knife deeper into Lyra. Rarity had to work her magic even more to get through one part. Rarity didn't know what she was cutting through, but Lyra knew that her heart was being sliced in two.
Finally, Rarity managed to push her knife through the rest of Lyra's heart, which spilled all the blood contained in it all over the inside of Lyra's body. Once her body couldn't hold any more blood, it began to spatter out the cuts Rarity had made of the design.
After a few minutes, Rarity had finished copying the lines that were visible on the paper onto Lyra's chest, which was now gushing blood everywhere. "Well, Lyra, it seems I've finished drawing all the lines I can see. But, since the rest is covered in blood, I'm going to have to make it look the same." Lyra, being dead and completely lifeless, said and did nothing.
Rarity turned the knife sideways and began shaving away little bits of Lyra's skin. Blood began to trickle out of the new wounds, completely covering both Lyra's corpse and the table underneath Lyra with blood. Bon Bon screamed, unable to do anything but stare at her best friend's murder.
Once there was a replica of the bloodied piece of paper on Lyra's body, Rarity took a step back. "It's perfect!" she exclaimed. "Better than the original, wouldn't you agree, Bon Bon?" She turned to Bon Bon, who was cowering in fear.
"Now, you might be wondering why I have your hair captured," Rarity said to Bon Bon. "You had made fun of my hair back in school, so I'm going to completely get rid of your hair."
Bon Bon sighed a little bit. "Well, at least it'll be just my hair being removed, right?"
"Not quite," Rarity said. She trotted over to a power switch. "If this is done correctly, the thing you'll worry about most will be having no hair - and no skin."
Bon Bon glanced at her body. There were multiple hooks that pierced her skin. Bon Bon shrieked. "You can't do this to me!" she screamed through tears. "I can't let you do this to me!"
"Oh, but I can let me do this to you," Rarity said. She pulled a lever with her magic, and a loud motor turned on. Slowly, the hooks began to move upwards and sideways, making the skin attached to the hooks move with them. Bon Bon screamed, and teardrops began gushing out of her eyes just like blood gushed out of Lyra's body.
Soon, one of the hooks pulled off a chunk of Bon Bon's skin off. Bon Bon shrieked, and widened her eyes at the sight of a lot of her skin missing. She then felt a tearing on her head as Bon Bon slowly realized her mane and scalp was being torn off forcefully.
"I never really wanted to be rude to you!" Bon Bon said, hoping Rarity would turn off the machine and forgive her fully. "A few days after I sent that note, I tried to commit suicide! I felt extremely bad, but I didn't talk to you about it because I didn't want you to hurt me! Now STOP THIS EVIL MACHINE! PLEASE!"
"Well, unfortunately, you didn't talk to me and resolve things, so you left me in tears for a long time," Rarity said sternly, walking towards Bon Bon closely. "And don't worry about death; you'll be dead as dust in just a minute!"
Bon Bon's life flashed before her eyes. Her earliest days, when she learned she was born into a secret agency. Her school days, where she met Lyra for the first time. When she made fun of Rarity. Bon Bon trying to commit suicide. When, by luck, Lyra and Bon Bon both moved to Ponyville at the same time. Being accepted into the secret agency. The bugbear chasing Bon Bon around Canterlot, where she had been staying for a while because of the secret agency. Moving back to Ponyville, where she assumed a new name. Spilling the beans about her old life to Lyra. And then, being with Lyra as she died.
Just then, her face became covered with her warm, sticky blood as her scalp was torn off. Bon Bon screamed, her mouth quickly filling with her own blood. With blood gurgling out of her mouth, Bon Bon muttered, "I wish you hadn't done this!"
With that, Bon Bon passed out from shock because of all the pain. Her body slowly began to bleed to death, until there was not a drop of life left to be found inside Bon Bon's bloodless corpse.
After all the skin had been torn off of Bon Bon's body, Rarity took the skin and put it in a bucket labeled DRESS MATERIAL, and stared at her two victims. "Huh, I really enjoyed that, Now that I've killed them, I've just got to decide what I'm going to do with their bodies," Rarity said.
Out of the corner of the room, Rarity could've sworn she heard a sudden yelp, as though someone had watched everything she just did. Rarity ignored it, and climbed the staircases out of the basement, into the washroom in her Carousel Boutique, where she cleaned herself up so she didn't look like a murderer of some sort.
Rarity probably shouldn't have ignored that random yelp, because in the corner of the basement sat Derpy Hooves, who had watched the entire event unfold right before her very eyes. She tried hard not to scream, so Rarity wouldn't find her there, and now sat alone in the darkness, fully aware that in front of her, Lyra's cut-up body and Bon Bon's skinless corpse were lying motionless on a table, awaiting their next fate.
