A Lone Rifleman in Equestria
A Lone Rifleman in Equestria: Chapter 3
Previous ChapterNext Chapter[40 minutes after the events of chapter 2]
*sigh* “What kind of shit have I gotten myself into?” I thought to myself, while walking along a path that I found with an injured little pony in my arms, who managed to fall asleep a while ago after me and her had a lengthy chat about myths from my world. She seemed really interested in them, and especially about the myths that I told her about Greek mythology. She got tired, probably due to the stressful day and her body needing the rest to get energy for the injured leg, and fell asleep in my arms. Lucky for the both of us, I had steady arms from my years of marksmanship, so she slept peacefully, while her broken leg managed to stay still and relax enough that it wouldn’t bother her as she slept.
After a few hours of walking through the woods, I came to a clearing that had railroad tracks going down a cleared path. Thank god, because I lost sight of that castle on the side of the mountain a while ago. It became cloudy, and I feared that it would start to rain, but that never happened. What was strange however, was that one moment it was clear skies, the next it was all cloudy and looking like it was gonna rain. Either the weather pattern in this place is much different and faster from the one back at home, or it could be that my eyes were playing tricks on me. I’ve been in countries that has had different weather patterns like the Soviet Union, Greece, Afghanistan, Rwanda, Africa, and many other places that had weird weather patterns, but this was different. It didn’t matter though, as I heard a little groan come from under my nose. When I looked down, I saw Scootaloo rubbing her eyes, and yawning.
“Ugh… Hey wolf, where are we?” Scootaloo ask, while collecting herself from her slumber.
“We’re still not out of the woods yet, but soon we will be. This railroad should lead us back to civilization in no time.” I responded, while nodding towards the railroad in front of us.
[Wolf Starts to walk to the left direction, while walking next to the railroad, but within reach of the treeline that surrounds the railroad.]
“Hey wolf, can you maybe tell me more about that story with Hercules?” Scootaloo asked, with a wondering look on her face that nobody could resist, unless you had no heart or soul.
“Sure, kid. Do you remember where I left off?” I asked, to see if she remembered where I left off in the story that I was telling her earlier, before she went to sleep, and to see if she was paying attention to when I was telling her the story. I use this same technique on new recruits in boot camp, whenever I’m assigned to give lessons, and this is a technique that I learned for my father at a young age. It worked on me, and it surprisingly worked on everyone that I have used it on so far.
“Umm……. Yeah, you were at the part where Hercules meets that satyr fellow…. Phil, I think it was.”
“Ah yes, the trainer of heroes.”
“Well, after some convincing from Hercules. He eventually gets Phil to train him, and he eventually he becomes a great fighter, while putting his godlike strength to proper use, instead of destroying half a shopping center.” I explain to her, while also paying attention to where the railroad is leading us.
[40 minutes later of explaining the plot of disney's Hercules and basically keeping Scootaloo amused.]
“Wow! I can’t believe Hercules managed to fight off all those monsters that Hades sent after him.” said a interested Scootaloo, while trying to imagine the story that was being told to her in her head.
“Yeah, it takes a lot of skill and luck to achieve some of the things that Hercules managed to achieve in his time…. Well then again, he had a godlike powers, and support from the gods to help in those situations. I added onto Scootaloo’s comment.
After a few more minutes of walking and telling stories, we stumbled onto a what looked like a train station. After getting closer to that train station, I noticed quite a few houses that looked like it would be some kind of small town.
“Oh my Celestia! We made it back to Ponyville!” shouted Scootaloo, who caught me off guard.
“You know this place, Scootaloo?” I asked.
“ Yeah, I live here.” Scootaloo responded.
“Hmm, well that’s good enough for me.” I said, while taking off towards the town.
I managed to get to get close enough to the town, and it didn’t take long for the residence to notice me. I stopped, and just stood their with Scootaloo in my arms. I knew that one of their ponies in my arms, and injured would automatically make me the prime suspect, so I knew that I had to look as nonthreatening as possible. A group of ponies formed, some looked like to be civilians, while others looked like military personnel with spears and glowing horns that would be ready to fire at a moments notice if commanded too. I heard a few whispers from the ponies, but we didn’t exchange any words just yet, we were both seeing/waiting for either one of us to make the first move. All of us standing here wasn’t getting us anywhere, so I decided to make the first move and break the silence.
“Scootaloo has a broken leg, and needs some medical attention as soon as possible! I didn’t hurt her, and I won’t hurt any... pony, unless I’m attacked!” I shouted across to the mass of ponies, who were shocked to see that I spoke their tongue. Another moment passed, until a flash of purple light caught me off guard, which nearly had me lose my balance.
That sudden jerk also made Scootaloo gasp in pain and favor her leg. I looked back to where that flash of light came from, and to my surprise, a purple unicorn with wings stood there with a serious poker face, probably to intimidate me or something like that.
“Who, and what happened to Scootaloo?” she asked, while standing her ground. Her voice sounded to be female, so I’d assume that she is.
“My name is Wolf, and I found her being attacked by a pack of timberwolves. I saved her before those wolves could have made a meal out of her.” I responded, which probably made Scootaloo embarrassed, but that didn’t matter that this point.
“I see.” she responded, while waving over two ponies that looked like to be doctors that had a stretcher with them that one of them, who was a unicorn, was pushing with it’s magic. They stopped next to the purple unicorn, and pushed the stretcher towards me and Scootaloo.
“Okay, Wolf! Put Scootaloo on the stretcher!” the purple unicorn shouted.
I did as I was told, and gently place Scootaloo on the stretcher, while also not taking my eyes off the ponies who were across from me. After I made sure that Scootaloo was secured, I waved over to the ponies that then brought Scootaloo back to their side. After they quickly checked Scootaloo over, they rushed her away, leaving the standoff between me and the ponies.
“Wolf! If you have any weapons on you, surrender them now!” ordered the purple unicorn.
I thought for a second, until I did as what was ordered and placed my weapons on the ground, except for a small knife that I kept in my boot for situations like this. I backed away, and the purple unicorn used her magic to levitate my weapons over to her. She inspected my sniper rifle and M1911 pistol, before giving them to another unicorn that took them away somewhere that I pray to god I can break into if I it comes to that.
I was about to say something, but I was caught off from the purple unicorn who had her horn glow. I didn’t know what to expect, but I got myself ready to make a break for it into the woods. After a moment, the glow faded away, and nothing seemed to have happened, that is until the purple unicorn started to speak again.
“Wolf! I said all weapons! I will use force on you if you do not comply.” she barked at me, catching me off guard of how she knew of my knife that I had in my boot. I thought, and basically decided it would be best to not call her bluff if she was even bluffing in the first place. I took out my small knife from my boot, and threw it on my ground. With that, the purple unicorn and some guards started to approach me with spears pointed at me and still on the defensive. As they approached me, I could see that the purple unicorn had wings for some odd reason.
They approached me, and the guards surrounded me to not give me any room of escape. The purple unicorn took a moment to get a good look at me, until she spoke up. “Well.. You are most certainly a strange creature, aren’t you? ”
“Like I told Scootaloo, I could say the same about every single one of you. Especially you Mrs.”
“Hey! You don’t talk to the princess like that, freak!” shouted one of the guards, but was waved off by the purple unicorn who was apparently apart of royalty.
“Stand down corporal, I’ll handle this.” said Twilight, who when she said that made me think of the gunner that was in the helicopter with me, before we were shot down.
“Apologies for that, Wolf. We’ve been having it crazy for the past couple of days, which has resulted in every pony being on edge.” explained Twilight, who now seemed for relaxed and not as tensed up from when she first saw me and I saw her.
“ It’s alright, but before you ask me the countless amounts of questions that you probably have for me, would be so kind to as tell me your name?” I asked in a polite tone in order to get her to remain the relaxed state that she and her troops were now in. It seemed to work, as with her managing to crack a small grin at what I just said.
“Fair enough. my name’s Twilight Sparkle, The Princess of Magic.” she said in a proud tone, while sticking her hoof out for a hand, or hoof, shake.
‘Geez, that sounds kinda lame to be the prince or princess of something’ I thought to myself, but just nodded and shaked her hoof.
“Now then, let’s see if we can get you some food and water. You seem like you could need it, and we can talk about where exactly you came from while you recover.” she said with a reassuring smile.
“That’s very kind of you Twilight, I appreciate it.” I thanked her for the hospitality that was coming my way, according to her.
“Good, then let’s be off.” she said while turning around while starting to trot back into town. However as we walked, she spoke from behind her back.
“Oh and Wolf, I wasn’t kidding on force against you if you try anything against me or any other pony.” she reminded me.
“Well I hope you weren’t hoping to use that ‘force’ of yours against me, because like I said before, I won’t hurt anyone unless I’m provoked, or attacked.” I reminded her.
she didn’t respond, and I got a few angry grunts from the guard ponies that were walking with us back to wherever we were going. I remember that shameful feeling from boot camp of having to obey and basically be the instructors bitch, but I could never imagine on how it would be like to constantly have to kiss royalties ass 24/7, and from what I’ve seen so far is that’s the exact thing that these guards must do on a daily basis. They have my pity.
