A Lone Rifleman in Equestria
A Lone Rifleman in Equestria: Chapter 2

“What the hell happened?” I thought to myself while regaining consciousness.
I slowly opened my eyes to be greeted by a blinding light, I flinched while rubbing my eyes from my now tingling hands. When my vision came back to normal, I could see that the blinding light was from the sun. I slowly got up, feeling the cracks in my joints and bones as I got up. I looked round to see that I was still in a forest like I was before I got shot down, however there was no Koreans in sight, nor a destroyed helicopter.
I checked myself, and surprisingly found out that all my gear was in tacked and I wasn’t hurt. I even found my high caliber rifle a few feet away from me, with my M1911 next to it and my camoed hat as well.
“The hell? How is any of this possible, and how am I unharmed by that crash.”I said out loud, under my breath, to no one in particular.
I slowly approached my weapons and hat, cautious if this was a trap or something like that. I slowly picked up my weapons, and found them to be in working order and untouched. I then picked up my hat and put it on with a sense of pride, I had the thing since I was in high school and it was given to me by my family when I was shipped off to the military after I signed up.
As I finished adjusting my hat so that it fitted comfortably on my head, I tried to call in command.
“Command this is Delta 39, do you come in?” I spoke into my ear piece, but was only greeted with static.
“Command, this is Delta 39, do you come in?” I spoke again, but only getting the same results as the first time.
“Damn” I thought to myself, before bringing my attention to the vegetated forest that I was stuck in.
After brainstorming on my options, I decided to go take a look around, it would be for the best if I got to know the area. I began to walk through the vegetated forest, taking in the surroundings as I walked, and taking note on certain landmarks like certain trees that stood out from the rest, or a few boulders to keep track of where I was going. I had to stay focus on memorizing the area, but I couldn’t help but enjoy the peaceful environment that I was in.
I would always take long walks after school in a nearby forest by myself, or my sister who would sometimes tag along. After a few minutes of walking, and memorizing the area, I could see a mountain peak that appeared to have some kind of castle on the side of it. Strange, but at least it’s a sign of civilization. I knew I had to figure out where I was, and talking with the locals is a good start. I walked in the general direction that the mountain was, and I made sure that I didn’t lose sight of it.
After walking for what felt like an eternity, I heard some chatter coming not far from my location. I got down, and listened into what the chatter was. I couldn’t hear specifically on what they were saying, but it sounded like they spoke English. Relieving, considering that I don’t have a language barrier to deal with if I were to meet with the inhabitants of this area. My train of thought was caught off though, as a loud sheek sounded through the forest, without thinking I started to sprint to the source of the sheeking.
After a minute of sprinting, I took cover behind a tree/bushed area. I took a look around, and I saw that a pack of wooded creatures were surrounding a small horse of some kind. As I took a closer looked, I was shocked to hear it scream out for help in plain English.
“PLEASE SOMEPONY, ANYPONY, HELP!!” It pleaded as the pack of wooded creatures began to close in on their prey.
I was shocked, but I snapped out of my dumbfounded state and took aim with my rifle at the first creature that came into view. After a moment of adjusting my aim, I shot at the creature, and it dropped down with skin splattering everywhere. The other creatures quickly drew their attention to their now dead pack member and began to look for who was responsible for it. I took aim at another creature, and shot it dead in between the eyes, however the rest of the pack now knew my location, and started to charge in my direction. I lowered my rifle, and pulled out my M1911 to take out the closing in targets. I fired at two of the creatures, and they both dropped dead. However the third and finale creature was able to lunge at me and pounce me. I was laid out on my back with a snarling creature that resembled a wolf, but strangely had glowing green eyes. I struggled to keep the beast off me, but I soon managed to kick it off of me, giving me a brief moment to get up. I didn’t bother to look around for my pistol that was thrown from my grip when I was jumped, so I pulled out my knife. The creature was still down from when I kicked it off of me and I took this advantage, and ran to it to strike it with my knife in the head. My knife went through the beast head cleanly, and it struggled for a moment before going still. I pulled out my knife from it’s skull and noticed for the first time that this creature was entirely made of wood.
“What the fuck” I thought to myself, before looking up to see the small pony from before, looking at me with complete shock.
We stared each other in the eyes for a solid moment, before I decided to break the silence.
“Um… Hey.” I said in a calm/sarcastic tone to show that I didn’t mean any harm.
When I spoke, the small pony looked even more shocked and now scared. I slowly got to my feet, without breaking eye contact with the small pony, and place my knife back into it’s appropriate case. I then approached the small pony, which made the small pony try to get up. However that didn’t work, because it immediately collapsed, and heavily favored it’s right lower leg, it was clear that it was hurt.
“Hey, you alright?” I asked while kneeling down to the small pony, which didn’t responded to my question.
I then pointed at it’s leg, “May I see it? I promise I won’t hurt you.” I said in an understanding tone. The small pony compiled, and allowed me to see it’s injury.
As I checked the damaged leg, I could hear the groans from the small pony, who was clearly in pain, thankfully though it seemed to be an average fractured bone, but it was still too unstable for moving/getting this horse out of this forest.
“Wait here, I’ll be right back.” I said, while getting back onto my feet.
I made my way back to the bushed area that I took cover in, and collected my weapons, along with two sticks that I broke off a branch. I made my way back to the small pony, and kneeled down to start crafting a splint.
“You got a name?” I asked to the small pony, who was flitching in pain as I positioned the two sticks opposite of each other on the broken leg.
“...Name Is Scootaloo…” It responded in a shyish tone, while also dealing with the pain of it’s busted up leg.
The voice sounded female, so I’d assume that this small horse is a girl.
“Good to meet you, Scootaloo, name’s Wolf.” I responded to her while tieing up the two sticks together on the leg with the laces that I got from one of my boots.
“Weird name, but thanks for saving me back there, Wolf.”
“I could say the same about you Scootaloo.” I responded with a small chuckle at the somewhat, smart ass comment.
“You know the way out of here Scootaloo?” I asked, but only getting a sad/kinda cute shake of her head.
“Sorry Wolf, but I got lost out here while doing some tricks on my scooter. I wanted to impress Rainbow Dash, but a pack of timberwolves jumped me, and I got scared, and I tried to lose them, but I crashed my scooter, and well… You know the rest.” she explained to me in a quick, but sad tone.
“I wouldn’t go beat yourself up over it kid, and besides you’re now safe.” I said to Scootaloo, trying to get her hopes/spirit up.
“I’ll get you back home, I was following the direction of a castle that I saw on the side of a mountain when I woke up.”
“You must be talking about Canterlot, that’s where our princesses live. Maybe when we get out of here, you should talk with them.” said Scootaloo, trying to be helpful.
“Sounds like a good idea, I guess that’s where we’re heading.”. Scootaloo shook her head in agreement, while I checked myself to make sure that I had all my belongings with me.
I did, and I picked up Scootaloo carefully with making sure that I wasn’t hurting her injured leg. I made sure that she was comfortable and that’s when I noticed that she had wings, I was surprised, and that got Scootaloo’s attention.
“Everything alright, Wolf?”
“You’re a Pegasus?!”
“Yeah, so? Ever see a Pegasus before?”
“No, actually. Where I’m from, Pegasuses are just myths.”
“What’s a myth?”
[Wolf starts to walk with Scootaloo, on their way to Canterlot.]
“A myth is like a well spoken story of a certain creature, event, or individual that is well known, however there’s no proof of its actual existence, and it’s mostly used to teach people lessons”
“People? What’s that?”
“The thing that my species are called, well more specifically, we’re called humans.”
“Humans… Strange, but then again, you’re the one who saved me from those timberwolves, and patched my leg up.”
“Yeah, talk about a strange day for both of us.”
“No kidding.”
