I'm going home, no matter what!
Prologue: The Book
Load Full StoryNext Chapter"David! Wake up! How are you still sleeping at this time?", someone shouted at the top of their lungs.
David's ear perched as he heard somebody was calling his name, it was definitely Rainbow. He answered it quietly, "Give me a few more minutes... I'm still knackered from last night's party at Pinkie.". He wondered if she heard that with his groggy voice. After he said that, a few hoof-steps could be heard slowly becoming louder and louder until the door swung open by Rainbow. She saw that he was still laying in bed with his eyes half opened, looking at her.
"Are you really that tired? You didn't even drank that much. You had two cups of the lightest cider and that's it!", she said and David gazed at her with a frown, she asked him softly, "Was that your first time drinking alcohol?"
David sighed and answered, "I should have told you about this before I taste that liquid. I wanted to impress all of you by drinking that. But was I wrong."
"Well, you did try your best at it and that's fine by me. Sorry if I offended you by any ways.", Rainbow apologized, "By the way, are you gonna get up anytime soon? Or do I have to drag you all away to the farm and leave you there in the mud?", Rainbow said while taking a few step closer to David's bed.
David sighed and slowly got up of his bed, let out a yawn before saying, "What bloody time is it?"
Rainbow looked at a nearby clock to see that it was ten in the morning, "Ten o'clock."
David was shocked after hearing that, he woke up three hours later than usual. He quickly stood up and grabbed his clothes and he looked over to his left and snatched what he called "an important item" and wore it on his neck.
Rainbow chuckled and said, "You're gonna wear that thing on your neck for the rest of the day? And when did you loop a string through that thing? And why don't you just put it in your pocket or something?"
David shook his head and told her, "Calm down, Ms. Ask-Alot-Of-Questions, I thread this thing the other night. I don't want to have my "trophy" end up in small bits of silver. Or what ever this thing is made out of."
Rainbow didn't said anything, she rolled her eyes and walked downstairs. David looked down at his chest and saw that his reward after defeating Sombra was a perfect fit to him, he then walked downstairs and left the library.
David walked out of the door only to be greeted by the two that has been with him since the battle, Thomas and Charles. For over six months of being transformed from two soulless figures to two big hearted humans the town had ever known. He had taught them to help others who needed the most.
"Good morning, sir. Or should I say noon?", Charles said, "Are you still sober after last night event?"
"I can't say I am, Charles. My brain is still twisted and dizzy despite it has been over ten hours after that drink got inside my system.", David responded, "Hold on a minute or two, don't you two have anything to do today?"
"Rarity reduced my work and gave me a day off. She said that all of her orders are done and told me to go outside and have a drink with someone.", Charles said. David then looked over to Thomas, waiting for his answer. He didn't open his mouth to let out a word, instead he just pointed at Charles, implying that his was the same as Charles.
"Wicked. You two chaps can do anything you want to have fun. Make sure it doesn't involve burning something down or anything stupid, alright?"
Both of them laughed at David and one of them spoke up, "You taught us how to be nice to others and you expect us to burn down the whole town down in less than a day?"
"I'm just kidding, guys.", David said and looked behind him. He forgot that Rainbow was still behind him, "Oh, I forgot that you are still here. I'll see you both later and when we do, we're going to have a night out."
Thomas and Charles nodded and saluted him before David continued to walk with Rainbow to the farm. They walked for a few minutes before David spoke up again, "Hey Dash?"
"Yeah?"
"I've been thinking a lot about this question and I would like to know your thoughts on it. Also, this might be a stupid lil' question.", David's word made Rainbow raises her eyebrown in confusion, "What would you do if you were in my situation? Stuck in an unknown world with something trying to kill you."
Rainbow took a ten long seconds of thinking then she finally answered, "I would do nothing like you. In fact, I don't even know what I should do. So yeah, there's your answer."
"Huh, you answer was way different than I would have expected. But it's great to...", something interrupted David mid-sentence, his chest was getting hotter and hotter, "... know. Woah, why is my torso burning?", he looked down and saw that the thing he has been wearing around his neck was glowing dark blue. With no hesitation, he removed it and threw it on the floor. Miraculously, it returned to its normal state.
"What in the blue heavens just happened?", David said while looking at the thing that tried to burn him alive.
"Dude... I think it just came back to life!", Rainbow said.
The two took a step towards the thing that almost made a hole in David's chest. David picked it up and was surprised that it wasn't as dangerous as before. He told Rainbow, "I think I should not wear this any further, don't you think?"
Before she could reply to him, she saw David's hand was almost consumed by some kind of blue lines. It stopped before David's hand was out of his sight.
"What in the living thing is happening to my hand?! Get it off me! Big bloody mistake picking this thing up again!", he shouted and tried to remove it off his hand, but it was no used. The thing was impossible for him to take it off.
"Calm down, David! Is it hurting you badly?!", Rainbow didn't knew what to say at that point, she was terrified at the sight of David freaking out.
"It's not hurting me, no. But I'm still terrified about the fact that this thing just ate my whole hand!", David said while still trying to find a another way to get rid of it.
"Oh. Well that's not big of a problem if it doesn't hurt ya. We just have to go to Twilight and see if she could get that "trophy" out of your hand."
David looked down at his hand and replied, "Okay. Let's hope to someone that Twilight have some other ways instead of getting my hand decapitated."
Rainbow started to walk back towards the library. David began to follow her but only to be stopped by his hand, weighting him down like an anchor at the bottom of the ocean.
He slowly stood up with a huge amount of weight stuck in his hand, tried walking again but only to be falling down onto the dirt floor, he stood up and stand still, not moving an inch and spoke up, "What just happened?! I can't wa-", David looked back at his hand to see that there was a an arrow pointing at a place he doesn't want to go in: the Everfree Forest.
"David! Are you okay? What happen-", Rainbow saw what the arrow was pointing at amd was shocked like David.
Both of them stare at the entrance of the forest with a terrified look. They have promised that neither of them walk into that death trap after the incident that probably could have taken one of their lifes. David let out a long sighed before telling Rainbow, "I think this thing wants me to go in there."
Rainbow gasped after hearing that and immediately hover infront of him, trying to stop him from entering the forest, "Are you nuts?! Do you even remember what happened last time we entered there?! What if the wolves are stronger now?"
"Do you have any other great ideas? I can't walk anywhere else with this "thing" stuck on my hand or else I will sink harder than a ship. There are no other choices, Dash. If I want to get out of this situation, I need to follow it. But for safety reasons, go find Charles and Thomas and tell them to meet me at the entrance of the forest."
Rainbow didn't have any other choices but to call his human friends to help him get out of this sticky situation. She took off and flew away, leaving David walking alone into the deep, dark forest. After a few moments, Rainbow finally found Charles and Thomas and told them what was going on. They quickly ran to the entrance of the forest and saw David standing, waiting for them.
"Took you long enough. Come on, let's follow this stupid thing to where it's leading us, and hope that it's not a death trap.", David said as he led them through the Everfree Forest.
"What are we looking for anyway, David?", Charles asked.
"Do I look like I have any idea what we are looking for or where we are going right now? I know bugger all about anything we're trying to accomplish here.",David replied while looking down at his hand, making sure he doesn't miss anything.
"I don't even know how we're going through all of this mess without getting killed yet. Are you sure that thing isn't blessed with some kind of 'Stay-away-wolf' spray? Because I'm feeling kind of worried about not seeing any kind of movements.", Thomas said while scouting around, scaring that he might jinx all of them. David looked at him with his 'What did I tell you' eyes, "Oh I forgot, you don't know anything. Sorry."
An hour has passed and the four couldn't seem to find anything interesting while walking in the forest. They were all surprised about them not encountering any kind of creatures, no Timberwolves or anything dangerous.
"Guys? I think that is what we have been looking for.", David broke the silence and pointed his at an old tree with a fading blue light surrounding the core. The four quickly ran towards it and all eyes were on David.
"How can you tell this is the one we've been looking for?", Rainbow curiously asked.
"Because out hundreds of trees, this one's cord is glowing blue. Also, my hand is glowing brighter the closer I get to it. Now that we know that this is the tree, I guess I have to do this...", David said as he slowly move his consumed hand closer to the core of the tree. His hand reached the center of the tree and a light came out of nowhere and illuminated the whole forest, almost blinding David. He focus his vision and look back to his hand to see that his hand was no long covered with blue lines. Instead of only receiving the item back, the item was attached to a book with an oak wood cover.
"That's it? We walked for an hour just for a book?!", Rainbow shouted with raged.
"I didn't asked you to go with me but you did it anyway, so it's your own fault.", David said and opened the book. He looked inside to see none other than words and a few drawings and none of them really made sense to him.
He closed the book and turned back to the others, "I can't understand anything written in this book. We need someone who can translate it. Any ideas?"
They all looked at each other and agreed on the same answer, "Twilight."
"Bingo. Now let's get out of here before our luck ran out. I don't like the feeling of this after picking this book up.", David said and followed the other out of the forest. He didn't like where this is going.
