Chapters Chapter 1 - Having a Bad Time
Back when I was still living in Canterlot, I wasn't that happy. I grew up in there, in the highest social circles. My parents were very rich and sociable, after all. They were the kind of rich ponies that give their child the name "Midnight Frost". I don't dislike it, but it's still pretty fancy. Nowadays I prefer everyone calls me Frost, or Frosty, if they know me better. My mom and dad had a lot of money, and made more money by becoming friends with ponies with money, and then joining in with the happy money-dance, whatever it is they do then to get money. They were good at the money game, and therefore it was expected of me to do the same as them: make important "friendships", and most importantly, get to know the children of rich ponies who my parents wanted to get something from. I didn't really know what real friendship felt like back then. My parents weren't unkind ponies, they just wanted me to become like them: rich, successful ponies. But I'm not them. Not at all. When they would be socializing and forging friendships, I would be sitting in a corner reading a book about magic. Social things just happened to other ponies. I was also just too shy to approach other ponies, but I never thought about that. I didn't want friends, I wanted other things, that actually had value. Like magic. Magic does what you want it to do, when you want it to. If you do it right, that is. Numbers also interested me, but not as much as magic. Numbers don't freeze a puddle solid in the blink of an eye.
So instead of trying to socialize, I practiced magic: basic levitation, small transformations, everything. It was difficult at the start, but I got better the more I practiced. Eventually I got so good that I could levitate myself, and one day, I levitated myself up from outside to my parents balcony, and then I sneaked inside and sneaked up on my mum. She got really scared, it was really fun to do. She asked me how I got there, but I didn't answer. I thought that me being good at magic would just be used as another tool in social things. Of course it wasn't going to be used like that, they would probably arrange some advanced magic studies for me, but I didn't know that. So I kept my mouth shut about my magic, and my parents got increasingly worried about me.
One evening, in the middle of the winter, I had to go to a party from this other mare who apparently had her birthday-sleepover combo that day, and her parents had a lot of money, or something. I had to go there, and become friends with her. This time, I tried to be a little more open about it, maybe she was a nice pony. So I went to the party and hoped for the best. I trotted through the snow to the house my parents told me was their house, and I went inside. It was a fancy house, even fancier than that of my parents. Everything was clean, not a single speck of dust was to be seen. I took off my coat and warm winter shoes, and entered the living room. Immediately a huge chandelier caught my eye, it was set with precious stones, and candles everywhere. Then I saw the table underneath it. It was laden with presents, and around the table there was a group of about eight ponies, slightly older than me, who were eating fancy chocolate cake, and all turned around to look at me when I entered. After a few seconds they ignored me, and continued chatting among themselves and eating cake. I looked around to see if there were any parents, who I could ask where to sit and to introduce me. There weren't any, so I just added my present to the pile, and sat down. I nervously said hi to them, and got a few noncommittal "hello"s back. So I just sat there staring of into the distance, thinking about what kind of magic I was going to learn next when I got home. After a while one of them noticed my blank stare, and drew the attention to me.
"Hey, are you sleeping, or what?" said one of the older ones.
My mind was pulled back to the present, and I noticed three of the older ones standing around me.
I hadn't heard what he said, and I felt really ashamed, so I stammered: "Wh-what?"
They sniggered a bit, and the one from before said: "I said, are you sleeping, or what?"
I looked at them, and I knew where this was going, so I just stood up, and walked to the exit.
One of them yelled after me: "Hey! Where do you think you're going?"
But I ignored him. I got my coat and my shoes, and I opened the door. I said goodbye, and closed the door behind me. I didn't want to be awkwardly standing inside putting on my shoes and coat, so I had just taken them on my back and walked away. So I stood there, wondering what to do next. I decided to take a little walk, and I started wandering in a random direction. I started thinking about magic again, and time flew by. It got dark, and before I knew it, everything was dark, and it was very, very cold. I still wasn't wearing my warm clothing, and I was surprised that I was fine with that. I felt the cold, sure, but I was completely fine with it. It even felt...nice, in a way. I felt comfortable outside. The stars were shining, no pony was outside, and everything was completely silent. I felt happy.
Then I thought, why not study ice-magic? I didn't have my books, so I had to think out this one on my own. I also doubted I would have a book about ice magic, as people would rather stay warm than be cold. So I wandered around some more, thinking about how to do it.
After a while I stopped, and looked at a small frozen puddle. I stomped on it, and the ice broke. I levitated the pieces out until there was just a small puddle of calm water left. I thought, if you take the warmth of something, and put it somewhere else, then it should work. So I tried it, and I suddenly felt a warm wind pass me, and the puddle froze solid in a second. I was really surprised it worked, and I did a silent victory dance. At that moment an old gentlepony walked past, and looked at me.
"Are you alright, my lad?" he said. I froze in mid-dance, blushed deeply red and stared at him.
"Yeah, s-sure," I said. He looked a bit worried.
"Aren't you cold? Shouldn't you be home, where it's warm?"
"Don't worry, I'm on my way home, and it's warm enough outside."
He gave me a doubtful look, and walked on. I watched him walk away, and then I started walking home as well, breaking the icy puddles, and then freezing them as I went with a mad smile on my face.
When I got home, my parents were surprised. I wasn't supposed to be home until tomorrow.
"Back so soon? What happened?" my mother asked.
"A few of them started bullying me, so I just walked away," I said. My parents weren't too happy about this.
"Why are you letting yourself be bullied so easily? If you want to be even a bit successful you're going to stop being such a pushover!" my dad said a bit angry. I got angry too.
"Well maybe I don't want to be successful here, maybe I don't care about being social and rich!" They were shocked.
"You two are forcing me to go to parties and to socialize, but that's not who I'm meant to be! I haven't gotten my cutiemark yet because I'm not meant to do this! Trying it again and again won't change that!"
There was a silence for a few seconds as I seethed and they stood there, baffled. My dad recovered first: "Maybe this isn't the right place for you then, son."
My mom wanted to disagree, but my dad poked her, and elaborated: "If he isn't capable of being a social, successful gentlepony, then he's better off somewhere else."
I felt hopeful. Maybe I could leave this life behind, and find out who I really needed to be. After all, I was the only one from my age (that I knew of) that was still a blankflank. Other ponies didn't say anything about it, out of politeness, and the fact that I might one day become successful and rich, and be useful to have as a friend. Maybe I would get my cutiemark in my new life. So my parents gave me some bits, and together we looked up what the best place to seek fortune was. Turns out it's Manehatten. A big city full of ponies. That meant dealing with a lot of ponies to make a living. So we looked on the map to see what small nice villages there were that I might go to. Then we noticed Ponyville, a small, (check,) friendly, (check,) village with tons of places to work, (check,) that was relatively close to Canterlot. (Not on the list, but helpful, nonetheless.) It sounded like a nice place. I just hoped that I wouldn't have to be so sociable like here.
So far, it hadn't been a good day.
Chapter 2 - A Pink Welcome
I stayed the night at home, and left early in the morning. I didn't want to say goodbye to my parents in case I got emotional. So I trotted through the snow to the train station, looking at all the birds, whistling in the morning. They were singing quite beautifully. I nodded a greeting to the few ponies who had to go somewhere early, and eventually arrived at the train station. I bought a ticket to Ponyville, and boarded the train.
"Going to Ponyville, eh? I haven't seen you before," said the conductor, "Aren't you a little young to travel alone?" I guess he thought I was younger because I was still a blankflank.
"I'm fifteen." I looked like I had to explain this many times before. I had.
He looked at me weird, and said: "Well, alright... I hope you get your cutiemark soon then."
"I hope so too, mister, believe me."
He nodded at me in a friendly way and said reassuringly: "Don't worry, it's probably not going to take long now, at your age. I'm sure you'll find your niche."
He blew on his whistle and walked off, and the train began to move. I sat back, and looked out the window. I wasn't going to miss this place. I looked around the cabin, and I spotted a slightly fat pony sitting a few rows ahead, who had a daffodil sandwich in a translucent bag. I decided to have a little fun with him. We entered a tunnel, and while it was dark, I froze his sandwich solid. The warmth of the sandwich whirled around me, in a comforting manner. The cabin became lit again by the sun outside the tunnel, and the sandwich's owner got the sandwich out of the bag to eat it, only to see it was frozen. He looked around frantically to see who did it, and I smiled at him.
We entered another tunnel, and I laughed softly. For the first time in a long time, I truly felt happy. Alone, playing with magic, freezing someone's lunch. I felt that I could learn anything if I just tried. It was then, in that moment of happiness, that I got my cutiemark: a dark purple snowflake with a darker shade star in the middle of it. It was beautiful. We got back into the light, and the conductor passed again. He noticed me smiling like a madman, and noticed the cutiemark.
"Woah. When I said I hoped you'd get your cutiemark soon, I didn't think it'd be THIS soon. Congrats, you're an adult now, I guess."
I did a little 'Yay!' and he walked on.
After an hour or so we arrived at the Ponyville train sation, and I hopped off. I walked in a random direction, and suddenly a pink blur stopped in front of me.
"Hi! Are you new?! Do you have any friends?! It would be sad if you didn't!"
The pink bouncing blur then gasped really loudly, and the bouncing intensified.
"WAIT! If you don't have any friends yet, do you want to be my friend?!"
It was at this point that I got fed up with her bouncing and her persistence, so I yelled "No! I don't want any friends!" and I just walked away.
Even here, in this little far-off village it only took five seconds before I was confronted with friendship again. I didn't get why the pink blur seemed so excited and happy about it, though.
I kept walking until I saw a forest. That seemed safe. At last there wouldn't be any crazy ponies trying to become friends with me. I entered the forest, not knowing what else to do. I took in the scenery, which was quite pretty. Everything was white and black, and small flakes of snow fluttered to the ground from the trees, which I liked. I walked on for a bit before halting. I began thinking rationally about the situation, which told me that I needed to make money somehow, and that this forest didn't look like anyone would be living here. I decided to use the bits I had to hire someone to build me a little shack at the edge of the forest. That way crazy ponies would stay away, but I could still go into town to work and buy things.
So I walked back to the edge, and walked along it to see what might be a nice place. I found a nice little accessible clearing not that far away from the edge. It seemed like a nice place to make a little cabin. I remembered where it was, and wandered off looking for someone who might know how to make a cabin. I kept looking around nervously to see if the pink bouncing blur might return to try to become friends with me. I eventually found a farm, which seemed like a nice place to start. I hesitantly walked up to the door, and knocked softly. An orange mare with a cool hat opened.
"Well, hello there, sugar-cube, I haven't seen you around here, did you just move in? What's your name? I'm Applejack, by the way."
I blushed a bit from shyness, and told her. "I just came from C-Canterlot. My name...is Midnight Frost."
"That's a nice name. Well, what can I do ya for?" I had to adjust myself to her accent for a second, because I hadn't ever heard anything like it before.
I said nervously: "Errr... Can you...build stuff?" I blushed deeply as I sought for words.
"No need to be shy, I don't bite," she said, smiling knowingly, "I know someone who's even shyer than you, she's real nice. Anyhow, yes, if ya need something built, you've come to the right place. What do ya need?"
I felt reassured that I wasn't the shyest pony around. "I need a small cabin in that forest over there."
She looked at me doubtfully. "In the Everfree forest? Ya sure about that, sugar-cube?"
I immediately doubted my decision. "Err...not anymore? Why? Is it dangerous there?"
She nodded. "Hmm. Not that much if you're careful. And you stay close to the paths. Otherwise you might be attacked by wild things, like timberwolves, and giant pony-eating plants. Who knows what else might be lurking out there..."
"So I shouldn't ever enter the forest?" I asked slightly scared.
"No, that's not completely true. There are some ponies who can just walk through the forest without any problems, like Zecora." Before I had time to ask, she already answered, "She's a zebra. You'll get to know her before long, she's famous for her remedies. Also, Twilight Sparkle, you know her, right? Princess of friendship and all?"
I knew who she was, but I had seen her in person. I was surprised that she lived in such a small place. "She lives here? Why isn't she in a bigger city, like Canterlot or Manehatten?" I was a bit confused.
Applejack smiled. "It's because her friends live here, in Ponyville. Oh well. Back to business. Did ya have a place in mind where the cabin should be built?"
I was still pondering why friendship was of that much value to the princess. Well, she was the princess of friendship, obviously, but still.
"Yeah, in a little clearing next to the edge of the...Everfree forest, was it?"
Applejack looked relieved. "Ah, that doesn't sound too bad. Show me the spot. Do note that this'll cost ya quite some bits. Houses don't come cheap."
"Don't worry, I brought enough." I smiled an uncertain smile.
Applejack smiled back. "You don't seem like a bad fellow, you can stay with us until your house is done. It'll take a while to finish. And by that, I mean lots. It takes time to build an Everfree forest-proof house IN the forest. We have to bring materials...do the actual building...Takes time, it does. Ya sure ya have enough bits for this?"
I showed her the bag.
"Yep, that ought to do it."
I showed Applejack the spot, and she agreed that it would work out. We walked on back, and we were going to find me a place to sleep.
"We have a spare bedroom for ya, and we have enough food for a LOT of extra guests, so don't worry about it," Applejack said whilst we were walking back to the barn. "I hope you like apples!" she added after a moment.
We went inside, and she brought me upstairs. We walked down the hallway to the very last door.
"Well," she said, "this is your room now!"
She opened the door, and inside were four young fillies playing a cardgame.
"Don't you know to knock before you enter?" said the white one.
Applejack looked thoughtful for a moment, and then said: 'Oh, stupid me, I forgot Babs was already coming over, I'm sorry about that."
She walked back again and beckoned me. I glanced back at the room for a second and then followed her.
"Wait! Who are you? Why are you here?" the yellow one asked.
Applejack looked back and said: "That's Midnight Frost. I'm going to build a little cabin for him."
They seemed satisfied, so I walked on, slightly disappointed that the spare room was already taken.
"Don't worry, sugar-cube, we'll find you a place to stay. Oh! What about Twilight's castle? She's got loads of empty rooms. And you'll get to meet her as well!"
I was getting pretty nervous about possibly staying with the princess, but hey. At least I got to stay somewhere. I agreed hesitantly, and we walked off again.
After a while we arrived at a shiny crystal castle.
"I guess this is it?"
"Yup," Applejack said, smiling, "isn't it beautiful?"
"It's in the shape of a tree. It's kind of pretty."
Applejack sighed. "It's a long story why it's tree-shaped," she said.
We went inside, and walked through the quiet empty castle. It was freaking me out a bit, how quiet and big it was. Applejack poked me.
"I think Twilight's in the room with the map. That's the place where ponies think she is, so she's there most of the time, in case anypony needs her."
I looked skeptical. "Ah don't be like that, sugarcube, she's a nice pony. You'll be friends in no time."
"I'm not even sure how to become friends..." I murmured in myself more than anything.
Applejack looked back at me. "What was that? I didn't quite catch that."
"Err...Nothing."
At the end of the hallway there was a big pair of doors, one of them slightly open. The sound of someone sobbing loudly could be heard. I listened carefully.
"A-and he just said no!" the sobbing voice said. (Loud sobs)
"Awwww, he probably didn't mean it, Pinkie, don't worry," said a different voice, this one calmly.
"He even said... (sob) ...t-that h-he didn't want any f-friends!" said the first voice again. (More sobbing)
The second voice sounded surprised. "Oh. Well, in that case...he did mean it."
"NOOOOO!!!" the first voice cried. (Loud crying)
Applejack looked worried. "Looks like someone was being mean to Pinkie Pie again."
We got to the doors, and Applejack poked her head inside.
"Is everything alright, Pinkie?" Applejack said.
"I think so..." said the voice named Pinkie Pie.
I hesitantly followed her inside, thinking that I might have made a big mistake. Inside I saw a beautiful room with six throne-like chairs, and a giant map, all made of crystal. Not to forget the giant roots of a tree that hang from the ceiling, with little crystal things hanging from them. There were two ponies, one purple alicorn, who I recognized as Twilight Sparkle from all the posters I had seen in Canterlot. I knew she had also been there at big events, but I never went to those. The other one was a bright pink earth pony, (I felt my luck get up, grab its hat and leave the room,) that was looking pretty sad. That one was probably the one called Pinkie Pie then.
"Wait! That's the one!' she yelled as soon as she saw me.
Twilight and Applejack looked at me angrily. "So you're the mean meany-pants then!" said Twilight.
I got really scared at this point.
"N-no! Whatever it is t-that I've done, it wasn't on p-purpose!"
"A likely story! You made Pinkie Pie sad!" Twilight said angrily.
"Nah, I'm over it now." Pinkie said, happily humming a tune. Everyone stopped.
"Wait what?" Applejack asked, "Weren't you crying a minute ago?"
"Yeah, but I'm over it, as I said before." slowly bouncing, Pinkie Pie left.
The three of us were left very confused. Twilight and Applejack calmed down a bit.
"Now what actually happened back then?" Twilight asked.
"Welll..." I began, "a pink bouncing blur suddenly asked me to become friends. I said I didn't want any friends." They both gasped audibly.
"What? What's wrong with that?" I asked, looking doubtful.
"But, aren't you lonely?" Applejack asked.
"Nah, not really," I said, "I just want to study magic. I had to make friendships with important ponies because of my parents, and I'd rather not spend any time with mean ponies if I could be doing cool stuff with magic..."
Twilight smiled. "Didn't meet a lot of nice ponies back where you came from?"
I shook my head. "No, not really."
"If you're just nice to other ponies, you'll make a ton of friends in no time," said Twilight, "just look at Applejack. You're probably already becoming friends with her."
Applejack nodded. "It's been real nice talking with you so far."
I thought about it. Yeah, it had been nice talking to Applejack.
"Huh, I never thought about it like that," I said.
"Making friends is easier than you think," - Twilight smiled. - "I started out the same way, and now I'm the princess of friendship."
I understood now why Twilight had stayed in Ponyville. Friendship.
So far, it had been a good day.
"So what are you guys actually here for?' Twilight asked.
"We're here to see if you have a place to sleep for Midnight Frost here," Applejack replied.
I poked Applejack. "You can call me... Frost. It sounds way less serious, and it's less of a mouthful."
Applejack nodded. "Frost, huh... Why not go all the way and make it Frosty? Sounds even better!"
I said it a few times in my head, hearing what it sounded like. "Frosty... I like it," - I smiled, - "I've really left my past behind me now."
Twilight smiled. "So, Frosty, huh? Sounds friendly. I've got a few empty rooms here, so you can stay here. I'll probably have to show you around so you don't get lost, because this place can be confusing to newcomers."
She showed me around the castle, which was huge, by the way, taking a long time in the library, showing me all the racks of books. I had never seen so many rare books in one place before. Twilight noticed my eyes, which were filled with wonder.
"Do you like books?" she asked.
I nodded in awe. "I've never seen so many books before! I wasn't allowed in the royal library, so I had to be satisfied with my local bookstore."
"Well," - Twilight smiled - "you can always come here if you want to read about something. Do make sure to put the books back on the correct spot."
"Thanks! I'll definitely make use of this." I smiled broadly. "I assume you're a bookworm as well?"
"You bet I am," Twilight answered, "I've been reading books for as long as I can remember."
We continued the tour of the castle, and finally arrived upstairs at a hallway.
"This is it," - Twilight pointed at the second door on the left of the hallway. - "this is your new place to stay."
I opened the door. Inside there was a small room, dimly lit by what little sunlight could get through the curtains. There was a comfy bed, a beautiful old desk, and a few cabinets. I liked it.
"Do you like it?" Twilight asked.
I nodded and smiled. "It's perfect."
"Are you sure that it isn't too dark?" Twilight glanced at the heavy curtains.
"It's alright, I like dark," I said, smiling.
I took a few bits out of my bag, left the bag on my desk and we walked downstairs.
So now the waiting began until I had a house. I guessed Applejack couldn't begin building until the snow was gone, so it was going to take a long time. At least until spring. So I walked around Ponyville wondering what to do next. I noticed that it had been quite some time since I had eaten, so I kept an eye out for a place for something to eat. After a few minutes of walking around, looking at all the snow-covered houses, I saw something that looked like a cake-, or sweet-shop. I thought that, because it looked like a giant cake. I wouldn't have been surprised if I took a bite out of it, and it tasted like chocolate cake, or something else cake-related.
I grinned, and entered the weird cake-house. There were a lot of cakes on display, and the whole place just looked like it was made out of sponge-cake. I resisted the temptation to poke the wall to see if it was as soft as one as well. There was a middle-aged mare at the counter, looking at me expectantly.
"Hello, is this a shop for cake, or anything like that?" I asked uncertainly.
"Yes, it is! This is Sugarcube Corner, for all your cake needs." - she pointed at the counter, which had a few delicious looking cakes and cupcakes in it. "Would you like any of these?"
"Oh, yes, please! I'd like to buy that big strawberry-cake, please," I said, my mouth watering at the sight. I was really hungry.
She got the cake out, and put it in a brightly coloured box. "Here you go, that'll be twenty three bits."
While I looked into my pouch of gold, Pinkie Pie walked down the stairs. "Ah-" she yawned, "-that nap was great."
I looked up suddenly when I recognized the voice. I didn't know how she would react to me, after I had told her I didn't want to be friends.
"You were taking a nap?" asked the mare behind the counter, not looking even remotely surprised, "At this time of day?"
"Yup!" - Pinkie Pie started bouncing again, - "You can't expect me to bounce around all day without naps in between," - she noticed me, - "oh, hey, it's you again. Are you here for cake?"
I sighed with relief. At least she wasn't angry at me. Maybe I should...try to become friends...? I had no idea if this was a smart idea or not. I decided that I would go for it.
"...Yes, but I've been looking for you as well."
That was a lie, of course. I had already forgotten about Pinkie Pie, with only lunch on my mind. But oh well, lies don't matter if they're good ones, eh?
Pinkie Pie looked confused. "For me, why? Is the reason by any chance that-" she stared blankly into nothing, "-you had already forgotten about me, with only lunch on your mind?-" her eyes went normal again, "-And that you want to-" blank stare again, "-try to become friends...?" She looked at me expecting an answer.
I gaped at her in surprise. She had perfectly read my thoughts! Almost like it was written down on my forehead, or somewhere else.
"...Y-you're completely r-right..." -I blushed awkwardly,- "Well, what about it? D-do you want to be f-friends?"
The moment I said the word 'friends', I knew I may have made a mistake, as Pinkie Pie started shaking from pent-up...something. I looked at her in horror. Then, she started bouncing up and down against the ceiling, whilst yelling hurrahs and hurrays, and what not. From what little I could see of her face as she bounced I could see she looked happy. The mare behind the counter smiled.
"That's nice of you," she said, "I guess if you become friends with Pinkie, that I'll see more of you around here, so an introduction would be nice."
I told her. "I'm Frosty, what's your name?"
She nodded. "That's a nice name, Frosty. My name is miss Cake, Pinkie lives with us. Oh, that reminds me,-" she looked at Pinkie, "-if you keep bouncing like that, your excitement will go through the roof. Literally."
Pinkie stopped bouncing. "Oh, sorry! I'm just SO EXCITED!" Pinkie looked at me, "We need to hang out sometime, and do FUN thi-" Pinkie gasped loudly, "-THERE HASN'T BEEN A WELCOME-PARTY FOR YOU YET!"
I was baffled. No one had ever thrown a party for me, let alone one for me arriving in a new town.
"A p-party?! For me?! What?!"
I became embarrassed just at the prospect of a party in honour of me.
"Yes, we're doing this, it's almost tradition now!" Pinkie said, bouncing with excitement.
I told Pinkie I would look forward to the party, took my cake, and left after saying bye to the two. I didn't take Pinkie serious about the party. I mean, who would possibly throw a party for me without me actually asking for it?
I took my cake with me, walking through the town, looking at all the different shops, remembering where they were for future reference.
Eventually I stopped in a random alley, where I put down my cake and sat down, resting against the wall. I ate the strawberry cake, which, after the first bite, turned out to have creamy filling on the inside. It was even more delicious than I originally thought. A few of the ponies that passed me asked if I wasn't cold, out here in the snow. I wasn't cold, so I said told them I wasn't.
After that delicious and filling lunch I began walking back, visiting a few shops that got my attention, like "Quills and Sofas". The name puzzled me, untill I entered the shop, and saw that they actually sold both quills and sofas. I ignored the sofa part of the shop, and bought a few beautiful quills. After all, I was going to study ice-magic closer, and make notes of my findings.
I walked home, levitating my bag of purchased goods. I entered Twilight's castle, softly humming a happy tune. I shook the snow out of my fur, and headed upstairs. I was walking down the main hallway and was about to pass the door to the throne-room, when I suddenly got deafened by something that sounded like a cannon go off next to my ear, spewing confetti everywhere. There were many cheers, and I got pulled into the throne-room. The room was jam-packed with ponies, all cheering. Confetti everywhere, and balloons and banners, the whole room looked like a colourful whirlwind had passed through, decorating the place with whatever it could find in the local party-store, and had a large budget. There was a giant cake as well, and judging by all the mangoes and pineapples it had a tropical theme, which was my favorite. I hadn't ever told anyone, so this was a surprise.
Every pony in the room was looking at me expectedly, waiting for my reaction.
"...H-hi..." - I blushed deeply red, embarrassed because of all the attention. - "I'm F-Frosty..."
"Hi, Frosty!" the room said, as one.
There were more cheers, and they directed me to the cake, which I then cut. It became a great party, and I had a good time. We all played silly games, like "pin the tail on the pony", and there was cake for everyone. I got to know a few ponies, like Rarity, and Rainbow Dash. Rarity was friendly, and from what I picked up, she made dresses for a living. She looked like she would instantly fit in in Canterlot, which was probably true. I didn't like Rainbow Dash that much, but she was still being nice. She was just too...competitive.
It was a great party, and I even got slightly nauseous because I ate too much cake.
It had been a good day.
