Chapter 16: An old enemy or friend?

The Bank vault was silent before a boom shook and some of the floor gave away. Alfreda climbed out and pulled out some burlap sacks throwing the bits inside and tossing the full bags into the hole. When he decided he have enough he jumped back into the hole and hauled off the bags on the trolley he brought. He pushed the trolley with all his strength sending it flying down the sewer.

'Glad that part of the Wolf's Den actually connects to the sewer. The odds of this being a straightaway there are astronomical, so I'm taking my blessings.'

Alfreda climbed out of the manhole and cracked his back from the weight of the bag. He was about to run when a gunshot grazed his shoulder.

"Woah! Faust!" He yelled.

"Quite the opposite." A voice said earning Alfreda's attention as he looked in the direction of the voice.

He saw a stallion that was two feet taller than the average stallion. He wore a light grey greatcoat, the edges of the coat tails were given a sharp torn look. The coat was worn over black body armor with red lining on the padding with a red crescent moon adorned in the center of his chest. Red hoof guards on his forelegs and red boots on his hind legs his entire body was covered up to his neck. Leaving only his long managy spiky red and navy tail exposed. His face was concealed by a red helmet that was almost featureless, aside from a blade like extension where his horn is. Clear white lenses tinted with black lining concealed the stallion's eyes. The helmet had sharp streaks traveling down its cheeks giving it a permanent glare.

"Who the buck are you?"

"Death, but call me Red Horn." The Stallion replied

"Oh how original, I guess Douche with a gun was taken?" Alfreda joked earning a gunshot to the knee from one of the 40mm Handguns Red Horn had in his magic grip. "Oh Faust Damn! Take a joke!"

"I don't really do jokes." Red Horn replied twirling his handguns.

"Can we not just talk this out like mature adults?"

"Yes, let's." A voice said to which both Alfreda and Red Horn turned to see who said it.

Alfreda recognized Timberwolf but the other ones surprised him as he knew the names but never saw the faces that went with them.

All of them were Wirewolves but each of them were vastly different from the others. The feet of the one in the air were the same like any other wirewolves foot appearance, but the toes of the boots were open and clawed like a bird of prey’s talons with a toe on the back. His tail was normal but had some tail feathers around it. His claws were now black and looked like a birds claws. The biggest difference was not only how his shell was red with orange spots around it, but also his large wings behind him full of many beautiful feathers, his snout now sporting a beak at the end of it. Rodan, the flier.

The one the was reading a newspaper from a nearby stand had some changeling features like his tail looking a little gnarled with some holes in his feet, his ears had an odd point to the top of them, as well as a large pair of changeling wings on top of a dark blue green carapace, his eyes a changeling blue. Masque, the shapeshifter.

The one leaning on the stand had a body was as black as night, save for his eyes which were a piercing white, a black fog seemingly oozing off of him. Dusk, the wolf that appeared to be shadow itself.

The Wirewolf under Rodan was a head taller then the average werewolf, and his body was a mismatch of colors: his arms both a dark yellow while his right leg was green while his left leg was light yellow, his chest grey with streaks of red and his head grey, his eyes and mouth glowing green. Devastator, the muscle and machine.

The lead one in the front was purple just like Blotch along with the sickly green eyes and mouth. Shadow Blot, the leader and most feared of the group.

"The Mighty Machines? I'm saved." Alfreda cheered.

"Don't think you're off the hook I see the bag of money!" Rodan shouted.

"Well it was worth a shot." Alfreda shrugged.

"Red Horn, Timberwolf let you off the hook last time, but this time you have a choice, let him go and let us take care of him, or we will have to pummel both of you."

"1. Timberwolf hid in a trashcan after I threatened him. And 2," Red Horn fired his pistols at them to which Shadow Blot dodged before Rodan launched a fireball at Red horn who dodged.

"Okay round two." Timberwolf said running towards Red Horn, gathering all the surrounding wood to make his arm bigger for when he punched Red Horn, landing a hit in his side but earning a shot through the shoulder.

"Oh come on!" Timberwolf yelled as his now useless arm fell to the ground dragging him with it.

Alfreda looked on in awe at this and simply shrugged to himself. "And then Alfreda sneaked away."

Alfreda proceeded to do so, ignoring every instinct that told him to stay and watch the fight as the sounds of the fight grew louder, when a gunshot echoed through the air, but the difference from the other ones was the fighting sounds immediately stopped. He turned around and saw Devastator standing in front of Shadow Blot, before clutching a spot on his chest and collapsing to the ground. Alfreda gasped realizing what happened as Shadow Blot's eyes turned blood red before he charged at Red Horn roaring with in anger. Red Horn dodged a few swings before Shadow Blot shot out something big from his mouth. It grew and formed into some type of hulking monster colored just like Shadow Blot. The Monster charged at Red Horn, whose horn glowed as he dodged, creating construct swords that proceeded to cut through the monster breaking it into pieces that became imp like creatures. Shadow Blot attempted one more swing before Red Horn socked him right in his jaw breaking it, and knocking Shadow Blot unconscious.

Alfreda proceeded to back away again before settling it to a safe sprint. Alfreda made it to the sewer cover and opened it then tossed the bag down the hole before closing it. He then looked around to make sure the coast was clear and was about to make his way to the drain when a gunshot grazed his calve.

"Oh come on!" He yelled.

"When I'm paid to kill someone, I always finish the job."

Alfreda got up calming down as his calve healed before he listened Red Horn's voice again clicked something in his mind. "Wait a minute, that voice... you wouldn't happen to know New Moon right. Guy who died some time ago from what I read?"

"No I'm not." Red horn grumbled angrily while under his helmet his eyes were the size of saucers. "I Just have one of those voices."

"No the kid had a very distinctive voice." Alfreda said his bodies computer registering the voices as a 90% match. "Yeah my system says-"

"Its wrong the kid died the dead can't come back... hopefully he doesn't know about..." Red Horn muttered that last part to himself when Alfreda spoke up.

"I've heard some crazy stories about ponies coming back from the dead. Heck I clawed out of my own grave."

"..."

"Your New Moon aren't you?"

"I'm going to count to 10, and when I get there, I'm gonna begin shooting you with no knowledge I'm stopping."

"You didn't answer my question."

"1..."

"So I'm right. Cool." Alfreda gloated before he began to walk back.

"5..." Alfreda ran away prompting Red Horn to pull out his pistols. "10."

He shot at Alfreda barely missing his head to which Alfreda ran faster.

"I'm still right!" Alfreda screamed as a sword was thrown through his chest.

"No your not." Red horn said pointing a sawed off shotgun point blank at the dogs head.

"Wow you somehow grew up into a bigger asshole!"

*bang!*

Alfreda was missing his left eye and the part surrounding it while Red Horn stumbled from getting uppercutted in that same moment. As Alfreda held his wound in pain as it healed before looking up, seeing Red Horn's helmet on the ground as Red Horn himself get up allowing Alfreda to see his face.

He was a Vesper with a mane that matched his tail, but what shocked him was his eyes, his right was red while the other was gold.

"Hold on, I do know you." Alfreda said shocked stepping forward.

Red Horn pulled out his pistols. "I was gonna give the hirer your corpse, I don't think he'll mind the head being gone now."

"2 and a half years ago, The War in Yakyakistan, 25th Divison."

Red Horn tackled him and held his pistol toward Alfreda's forehead. "Chose you last words carefully."

"We were in a village. You went inside with the sergeant, Peach Cobbler, Obsidian Shadow, and Fizzlepop Berrytwist, she was edgy sometimes so we called her Tempest Shadow to mess with her, the sergeant was the only one that didn't come back." Red Horn began to hesitate. "I gave you a normal hi and you nearly shot me in the chest before Cobbler calmed you down. I asked you what happened. You said to go look for myself, I did, and what I saw was the reason you didn't see me ever since. I went AWOL."

Red Horn's eyes widened to which he dropped his pistols. "Gerald?"

"Well since no one that'll arrest me, that's actually not my name. I came up with it after my mom's nickname in collage. Dee 'Green Locks' Tangler. Names Alfreda Tangler. Is this what you were doing rather then being the sidekick to freakin Moon Knight, Blade?"

Red Horn was hesitant to try and aim with his pistols before sighing, putting them away and grabbing his helmet and strapping it to his side. "It's a long story but I'll at least give you this: I was using a fake name too, my real name is Crescent Blade. Some mob boss named Diablo Corps hired me to kill you, the way he worded it now that I think about it was actually a recruitment test, for both of us."

"We never were good at being told what to do were we?" Alfreda joked to which Crescent laughed a little. "Come on down, let's catch up at least."

Alfreda went to the manhole and pried it open. "Don't worry, it's not what you think. Put the cover back on while you come down though please." Alfreda said climbing down the ladder.

Crescent followed covering the lid and they both walked through into the Wolf Den.

"Alfreda? I didn't expect you back so soon. And who is that?" S.A.I.R.A.H. asked surprised.

"Calm down he's a friend." Alfreda said before tossing the money sack into a pile he had of bits.

"Two questions. How much money did you steal, and who said that?"

"I have now idea, this was not from just one heist, and where are my manners? Crescent, meet my Stolen AI partner: S.A.I.R.A.H, It stand for Self Aware Intelligence Ready And Helpful, working title and the I is silent."

"Not bad, you got all this done in a month or two?"

"Well I actually stole her and some of this stuff before I enlisted 2 and a half years ago. Some more of this stuff is recent though. This spot is actually nice because it's actually kind of colorful, some of my neighbors know my secret but they're all staying there for a secret reason too. I have a changeling psychiatrist, helped me resolve some issues with how I didn't die and what this could mean with my healing factor along with half a chunk with my Saddle Rager issues, A blotling farmer with a rich culture of legends and a very awesome story of how his family came to be, heck last night I had dinner with a family of chupacabras after I helped their car trouble in one of the apartment building with a couple other creatures, I think I saw I chimera sharing an apartment with a giant meatball and a draconequis. I couldn't make that last one up even if I wanted to. But enough about me let's talk about you. What's been going on with you?"

Crescent was nervous before Alfreda gave him a card. "Here's my number, just incase I forget to give it to you." Alfreda said.

Crescent sighed before smiling. "Are you sitting down because it's gonna be crazy."

"With my week before I died and after, challenge accepted." Alfreda said with a smile.

Crescent climbed out out the sewer just as his communicator went off as he put his helmet on.

"Red Horn, where have you been? I've been trying to call you for an hour, did you get it done? I was busy making sure the Mighty Machines didn't follow you. Devastator's going on cryo until that treat that bullet shot you hit them with."

"Turns out it was the wrong guy Blood Steel, I let him go, but not before I put a bullet in his leg."

"Bullet in the leg? That's so unlike you."

"I was feeling generous." Crescent said before grappling onto a rooftop.
