please note that this is my first story, so I'm sorry about the chapters being tiny

Prologue: a walk home (Optional, for character introduction.)

My name is Johnathan, but my friends call me john, my parents do too... Or at least they would, if they were still around. But back onto the subject of me. I am a gamer, and a brony.
Right now I am walking home from school down the usual path. While I'm walking, a giant dark purple portal thing popped out of nowhere.
At that point in time I begin to have a mental argument with myself
'I should go through it.'
'What if it's dangerous?'
'It's purple.'
'Dark purple!'
'So what?
'Fine.'
I could feel the obvious disappointment in that last thought, but I still walked through the portal. What I found on the other side was a lot more complicated and amazing than I could ever imagine.
