Chapters The End to A New Beginning
Author's note:
This is just a test to see how people like my writing style, I'd appreciate it if you guys could give me some pointers on how I could improve my writing, thanks, keep blaring those yays.
Blayze, an 18 year old of average height with blue hair, was walking down a cold, dark street on his way home from his job at the local aluminium factory.
“I hate working nightshifts…” He muttered to himself as the cold night air stabbed at the back of his throat. Eventually, he came to a crossroad and took a right turn. The air around him suddenly dropped in temperature, almost freezing his tongue and making his throat scream in pain. He sped up and looked up at the night sky, it’s black expanse dotted with the tiny specks of light known as stars and the giant orb that they surrounded known as the moon. He smiled and returned his gaze downward, noticing he had arrived at his street, not a single light was lit in any of the houses. He walked up to his door and fumbled with his key, his hands too cold to listen to his brain. He managed to open the lock and enter his house. He flicked on the light switch and the hallway was lit up by the light which hovered overhead. He went into the kitchen and opened the fridge.
“Yay, still have some left.” He cheered quietly to himself, closing the fridge, a can of Ice Tea in his hand. He walked into the living room. He dropped the can he was holding as he saw a hooded figure with a scythe standing infront of him.
“You’ve been a tricky one to track down, Blayze…” It said, its voice raspy and cold. It pointed a bony finger at Blayze.
“You have been generally good throughout your life, yet you have also committed sins.” It said, its scythe shimmering in the light that had been turned on just seconds before. Blayze just stood there in shock, unable to form words. After what seemed like an eternity, his mouth began to function again.
“Who are you?” Blayze asked, hands returning to their previous state of being frozen. The figure simply laughed a raspy laugh that would make a Doberman tremble in fear.
“I am Death, my boy and I have come to both congratulate and punish you.” His tone grew heavy as he raised his scythe.
“You shall be sent to the world you desire to visit the most, yet you will be given something that will represent your sins.” Death slashed his scythe at Blayze and all that he saw before the scythe hit him was the flash of a rainbow.
Blayze felt his body groan as he floated in the empty space that was the void. His muscles ached, his bones were sore and he couldn't move. After a few minutes, a voice sounded.
"Come, do not be afraid, you'll be safe here, I promise." It was a warm, soothing voice. Blayze started floating towards a light that had appeared shortly after the voice sounded through the darkness. His eyes screamed as the light blinded him and then everything went dark.
"Ugh...can't get a break, can I?" Were the first words he mumbled upon waking. He moved his right arm and froze. His eyes snapped open and he drew in the dreadful sight that was his right arm. His entire arm was just bone, he could move it and it was strong enough to not break, but it was bone all the way up to the shoulder. It took him a minute to take in the horrible sight and when his brain registered the scene, he screamed loudly, causing the birds in the trees to scatter. He curled up into a ball and lay there, rolling back and forth, quietly mumbling to himself about how it was all a dream. After about ten minutes of just mumbling to himself, he regained his composure and stood up. He took in his surroundings and started walking in a random direction. Eventually he came to the edge of the forest he had been in for the past hour or two and spotted a familiar looking town.
"It can't be...It is!" He exclaimed, as he inspected the town from a distance. It was Ponyville, the town from his favourite TV show, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. He walked cautiously towards the town, on the look out for any ponies. He eventually got to the edge of the town and could now see all the ponies, walking around, doing their daily business. He heard something behind him and spun around quickly only to see a very frightened pony scream.
"MONSTER, EVERYONE RUN FOR THE HILLS!" The green pony screamed. Everyone froze as they caught sight of Blayze. He just stood there, looking at the crowd. The second he moved his right hand, everyone screamed and ran into their houses. He sighed and facepalmed. His eyes widened as he felt the left side of his face with his left hand.
"Dear god..." He said as he felt his completely exposed cheekbone and jaw, which where protected from infection by some sort of magic barrier. He looked into town and then up at the mountain range behind him, seeing a city sprawled out on it's side. He turned and started walking towards Canterlot. Eventually he noticed that someone was following him, he looked to his left slightly just in time to see a pink blur zip from one bush to another.
"If I know that law of physics breaking anywhere, it's Pinkie..." He muttered to himself, knowing that if she did speak to him, it would probably be about what he just said, involving the questions, who are you, how do you know me, do you like parties, all that stuff that usually happens with Pinkie Pie. He sighed and kept on walking, thinking that he would hopefully get atleast halfway to Canterlot before dusk.
Just after dusk, he found a small cave which he would use to camp for the night. He had gotten about halfway to Canterlot and he was proud of his feat. He gathered up some wood and lit a fire, which he slept next to until morning where he would awake peacefully...Or so he thought.
Blayze was fast asleep, dreaming peacefully about the short time he had been in Equestria. His opened his eyes slowly and began to take in the cave he was in now that there was a bit of light. He stood up and looked towards the entrance of the cave and saw a cupcake.
"That wasn't there when I..." He came to sudden realization that he wasn't alone in the cave at all. Then, all of a sudden, a pink blob shot past him and started swirling around him, eventually tackling him.
"Hi I'm Pinkie Pie, what's your name, what are you, where are you from, do you like parties?" She said in a blur of words. Blayze just stared blankly into her face before she gasped loudly.
"OOOOO, maybe you're shy or maybe you can't talk ooooooor maybe you're so stunned by the fact that I tackled you that you can't talk!" Pinkie took in a breath, refilling her lungs with the air that had been emptied from them moments before. Blayze just lay there, staring at her without moving or saying a word. Eventually she got off him and looked at him, smiling widely. He stood up and looked at her, thinking of what to say, knowing that he had to be careful or else she might tackle him again.
"Hi I-" Was all he was able to get out before she gasped yet again. "SO YOU CAN TALK, THIS IS SO EXCITING, I'M GONNA MAKE A NEW FRIEND!" He sighed and his palm met his face, making his face sort of sting.
"Listen, Pinkie Pie, can you take me to Canterlot so I can see the Princess, then we can go throw a nice, big party." He immediatley regretted those words as Pinkie pounced him for a second time, knocking the wind out of him. His mind told him to deal with it, he would soon enough be in Canterlot and finding out if there was a way back to his world or not. If not...well, he'd cross that bridge when it came to it.
"THIS IS GOING TO BE AMAZING and you can call me Pinkie, Pinkie Pie takes too long to say and Pinks is only for my BEST friends!" She said as she somehow yanked him off the ground and out of the cave. He put his skeletal hand infront of his face to block out the blinding sun with little success. He grunted and walked, or rather jogged after Pinkie as she happily bounced her way along the small pathway she had led him out to. They walked for a while, Blayze insisting that if anyone else came along, that he would hide so they wouldn't run or attack him if they saw him.
Eventually, they got to a small lake just outside a peaceful looking forest. They sat down next to a stump and Pinkie gave Blayze a small, blue cupcake. It looked delicious and his stomach grumbled loudly, wanting some of that precious delicious cupcake.
"THIS IS AWESOME!" He exclaimed a bit too loudly as he practically swallowed the cupcake. Pinkie smiled widely as he ate it. She looked up at the sky and had a thinking face on. She was tapping her hoof on the ground and was in what seemed like deep thought for about five minutes.
"If we move now, we could catch Celestia before the sun goes down!" The sudden talking caused Blayze to jump. He nodded and they both got up and started walking towards Canterlot, which was now on the moutnain above them. Blayze sighed as he knew it was going to be a long walk, especially with Pinkie in tow. She walked next to him, asking him a question every now and again.
"So, where are you from?" She asked wanting to know more about her new friend.
"I'm from a place called Ireland." He said, smiling as he remembered the open green frields he was born next to.
"Ireland, where's that, is it near Equestria?" Pinkie asked curiously, her mane wiggling on it's own.
"It's a land far away from here." He said, his smile fading as his mind told him he was probably never going to see it again.
"Oh, you miss it don't you?" Her voice became sad as he nodded, but then she suddenly lit up with a smile. "Don't worry, we'll throw an extra big party to make you all happy and not saddy.
After that small conversation, they arrived at Canterlot gates. After about ten minutes of arguing with the Royal Guards, they were let in and were walking along the streets towards the castle. All the posh ponies were pointing and whispering in hush voices.
"Look at it, it's so weird." "I hope it doesn't look at me." "Someone deal with it, it's making the district look horrible." Were just some of the comments Blayze heard as they walked towards the castle. He clenched his fists and teeth and said to Pinkie.
"Let's walk faster before I snap, these idiots are getting on my nerves." He said, just loud enough for some of the other ponies to hear, which made them put on shocked faces. "It can talk." "Well, I never" "Get it out of here before I call the guard!" They shouted. Pinkie and Blayze walked up to the castle and entered the doors as the guards opened it, they seemed to have recieved a message to say they were coming.
They walked in, where they were met by a guard and escorted through the castle. Everything was spotless, kept in perfect condition thanks to the cleaners that cleaned them everyday. They were brought through a majestic golden door and led to a spiral staircase. The guard told them to go up it, knock on the door three times and wait for the Princess to allow them in. They said their thanks to the guard and climbed the staircase.
"I hope she won't be shocked about how I looked." Blayze said, becoming more nervous the closer they got to the top.
"Don't worry, Princess Celestia is always welcoming and gentle, even to the strangest of creatures...OH, sorry." She said, blushing slightly as she realised what she just said.
"It's fine Pinkie, don't worry, I am a strange creature, I have to admit." Blayze chuckled to himself as he looked at his hand, his bones shimmering slightly in the light of the now afternoon sun. He sighed and returned his attention to the narrow stairs, making sure not to trip over on anything and hurt himself. Pinkie bounced slowly behind him. When they got to the top of the stairs, they saw the door and Pinkie knocked rapidly three times. A soothing voice was heard from inside, which told them to come in.
The doors opened and Blayze and Pinkie walked in. "Woah..." Blayze said as he walked into Celestia's regal office, windows lined with gold and walls with intricate patterns on them.
And there, upon her seat behind a desk, sat Princess Celestia. She smiled and said. "Welcome Pinkie...Welcome Blayze." Blayze stood there, mouth agape and started walking towards Celestia, who grabbed two seats with her magic and put them infront of her desk. "Please, sit, tell me everything." She said, gesturing towards the seats. Blayze sat down and prepared himself for the story telling to come.
Authors note:
Well, here's the second chapter, I know it's short, but I generally write short chapters anyway, will try to make longer chapters in the future.
On the other hand, I added in more dialogue, which the story needed, since the first chapter was void of any dialogue.
Oh yeah, I also scrapped all the skin off the ball of my knee, so I'll have loads of time for chapter thinking. If you see any typos or anything that doesn't make sense, tell me, I'd appreciate it.
Sorry for not updating in a while, I've had a lot of stuff to deal with IRL and I haven't had the time to work on a new chapter. No worries though, I'm writing one at the moment, it's going to be slow coming out though.
Bonus Chapter: The Reason
Author's Note (ANOTHER ONE, YEEAAAAAAAH): This is just an explanation as to why Death visited him, since it was really random for Death to just appear RIGHT THERE FOR NO REASON. So yeah, enjoy (If you want to)
Blayze was sitting in his seat, on a flight back home from the US. He was listening to his favourite song on his iPod. "Anger I see Anger I see Anger I see nooooooow!" He sang quietly to himself.
He looked out the window to his left and looked at the blue ocean below him. He loved flying with a passion and knew a lot about the subject. Sighing, he flicked open his iPod, going to his Ace Combat playlist and playing "Zero", which was a favourite, since he enjoyed spanish sounding songs.
'Gotta check up on mom when I get back to Spain. ' He was worried about his mother's condition. 'I hope dad's been taking care of her... ' Thoughts were racing through his head at a lightning pace.
After about an hour, Blayze was awoken from the slumber he had fallen in to by the jolting plane. The captain's voice came over the speakers.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We are experienceing some turbulence, please fasten your seatbelts until the fasten seatbelt sign has been turned off, thank you for your time." BING , was the sound that was heard as the fasten seatbelt sign was turned on. Blayze fastened his seatbelt.
For what seemed like an hour, the plane kept jolting around violently, causing a dead silence on the plane. The shaking started to lessen a bit, causing a wave of relief to spread through his body.
His senses at their peak, he heard the creaking noise that is every aviators worst nightmare. The plane's wing snapped off with an audible bang and the plane entered a descending corkscrew. The entire cabin was screaming loudly.
"Calm, relax..." Blayze controlled his breathing as the aircraft span to the left. He'd been through this before, at training a month ago.
Flashback: 26th of August, 2013
---------------------------------------
Blayze was breathing heavily into the oxygen mask of his F-22 Raptor. He pulled his stick hard, going into a Kobra.
"Nice move, Grabacr 5." His CO said as Blayze fired his machine gun, which only clicked, since it was unloaded. "Gotcha." Blayze said, smirking behind his mask. "Let's head back home, training's done for the day." The CO said, turning to the left and throttling up.
"Wait, I got something here...Left side of the aircraft is unresponsive, Commander." Commander Eisen came back around and leveled off on Blayze's left wing. "Turn right for me." Blayze did so, the aircraft turning slugishly. "Yeah, left side ain't movin'." Eisen said, Blayze leveling off from the slow turn.
"Okay, I'll notify emergency services immediatley." Eisen contacted the tower. "Tower, this is Grabacr 1, we're heading back. Take note; need emergency services on runway, Grabacr 5 is having problems, over." He looked over at Blayze and thumbed up.
"Roger that Grabacr Leader, emergency services are on standby." The tower gave them a heading and altitude.
After what seemed like an eternity, the base came into sight. "Sir, I'm having trouble keeping her steady, the winds rockin' her." The aircraft was been pushed around in the wind. Blayze was worried.
"Come on, Vostok, keep her steady." Eisen's use of his callsign made him pause for a sec before smiling and shaking his head
"Okay, Eisen, drinks are on me if this puppy lands." Blayze's smile quickly faded as his instruments went dark. "Uh, Eisen, I got no panel here..." His breathing quickened, as did his heart rate. He tried to start the instrument panel back up to no avail. He stopped when he heard a creaking. His gaze soon led him to his left wing.
Eisen watched as Blayze worked. "Come on kid, get it workin'." Eisen's worried voice did nothing to distract Blayze. All was well until...
"FUCK!" Blayze yelled as the left wing snapped off, sending the aircraft spinning out of control. "DAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT!" He screamed into his helmet. The aircraft kept on spinning, when suddenly, Blayze had an idea. He managed to grab the throttle and push it up, increasing his thrust. After what seemed like forever, the aircraft slowed slight, giving him just enough room to pull up. He pulled up metres from the ground, barely avoiding a ridge.
Eventually he crashed landed near the base, ejecting from the aircraft as it started to spin again.
Eisen punched Blayze square on the chin. "Don't pull that shit again, got it?" He said angrily as he led Blayze to debriefing.
"It wasn't my fault, the aircraft as stressed!" Blayze retorted, earning a glare from Eisen.
"Yeah, stressed from the bullshit you put it through, I admit, they were good manouvers, but they stress the airframe too much. You could have died. Infact, you almost did. Think about how Nighty would feel if I told her you were dead?" He said, pointing to the Grabacr squadron lounge.
The mention of Nighty shut him up. "Okay, I'm sorry Eisen, I'll be more careful..." Blayze looked at the door and saw an eye, which was obviously Nighty's. He shrugged and walked into the debriefing room, followed by Eisen.
Current day: 27th of August 2013
---------------------------------------
Blayze remained calm and collected as the other passengers screamed their heads off.
The aircraft hit the ground, somehow only breaking apart into three pieces and sliding on the ground that it had approached in the 15000 foot drop.
After about an hour, Blayze awoke with burns over his body. Searchlights were seen in the distance. He managed to get up and climb out of the wreckage, his burns screaming at him. He walked slowly towards the flashlights, when eventually, one shone on him and shouts were heard.
"I FOUND ONE, A SURVIVOR, OVER HERE!" He shouted and within seconds an amublance team was wrapping towels around him and he was brought to the ambulance, where 4 other surviviors were sitting with oxygen masks on.
He was given a mask and he sat down, looking at the other survivors. They nodded at him and he nodded back, grateful that they were alright and he was alive.
Blayze woke up in hospital, he must have passed out at the accident scene. He looked out the window for a while until a doctor came in.
"Mister Blayze Razortine." The doctor said as he entered and picked up Blayze's chart. Blayze nodded and waited for him to proceed. "Well it seems like you're fit to go, you've been asleep for four days." He said, earning a shocke expression from Blayze.
"I...wow...wait, do you know of a Michelle McInerney?" Blayze asked questioningly(?).
"Ah...well...my collegue from the the hospital in Cork told me to tell you she pased away last night..." The doctor's solemn tone only made Blayze's mood worse. His mother. Dead. After a 4 year long battle with an unknown disease she finally gave in...
3 months later
---------------------------------------
Blayze stood infront of his mother's grave, as he did every week. He thought about how he survived that plane crash, he didn't understand it. He was near the middle of the aircraft, which was the most torn up part, yet he survived.
"I should have died that day, maybe then I would be up there with you..." He said, looking up at the sky, a gentle breeze blowing the autumn leaves around in the sky.
He turned around and began walking home.
Time to get ready for work, this was going to be a long nightshift.
Author's Note: So yeah, if you don't understand, he should have died twice, so Death took care of it himself. The song he's humming is called "Crossroads" By Avenged Sevenfold. Also, the problem with his F-22 was electrical, so the engines would still be working. Loosely based off of the Iranian F-15 incident.
Sometimes I wish I was wrong
Celestia was puzzled as to how he got here. "Well, now that you're here, you could help us?"
Blayze knew where this was going, he sighed and said in a monotone voice. "Let me guess, some evil creature that was accidently released by someone you know is plotting some evil master plan that will surely kill us all and now with the help of the pony who did it and their friends I have to stop it?" Blayze just stared into her eyes, waiting.
Celestia took in a deep breath. "Yes." She said simply, pokerfacing. Blayze sighed and facepalmed. He looked out the window to the city below and wondered what kind of evil creature could have been unleashed now. There was Chrysalis, Discord and who knows what else. His eyes widened when he saw a shadow appear from behind the mountain.
"If that's a dragon, I swear this is the most cliché thing sin-" He was cut off by a loud dragon's roar, which caused Celestia to jump. She teleported them both down to street level, right in to a crowd of ponies.
"That creature is with the Princess?" "My lord, he must be important then." Blayze wasn't paying attention to the ponies, he felt something in his body, it was getting hotter, but he didn't mind it, it was a pleasant feeling. Pinkie looked at him, feeling the heat off him.
"Wow, you're hot! Need some water?" She said, her smile never leaving her face. Blayze just shook his head. He had read about something before that involved this. He looked at his right hand, his bone was smoking slightly. He concentrated on a pressure he felt and all of a sudden his hand ignited with fire. Celestia, Pinkie and everyone else stepped back slightly when the fire burst in to life. He looked at the dragon and smiled.
"Leave it to me." He ran towards the dragon, much to Celestia's discontent and went to punch the dragon. "Karyu no Tekken!" His fist slammed in to the dragons foot, shattering some of it's scales and burning it's flesh. The dragon roared in pain. It whirled around to face him and blasted fire and him. It engulfed him, which caused the ponies to panic for a moment, until a strange sound was heard. Blayze was eating the fire by inaling it.
"What's he doing?!" "Is he inhaling that fire?!" "Extraordinary." The ponies were astounded at his magical power.
"Now that I've eaten, I'm all revved up." He punched his hands together, creating a magical circle and reared his head back, filling his mouth with fire. "Karyu no Hoko!" He connected his hands, forming a tube and blew fire put of his mouth at the dragon, burning it's face and chest. The dragon, now injured, decided it wasn't worth it and took off, going to find another village to pillage.
"Wow, what a doozy! Twilight's gonna be super excited when she learns there's more magic to study!" Pinkie was bouncing around Blayze, who's body was still steaming. Celestia stood with her mouth agape. She had never seen such magic before, it was a strange magic, it directly damaged a dragon's body, not caringat all for protection.
"What magic is this, Blayze? And how did you get it?" Celestia asked, now very curious as to what it was.
He shrugged and started to explain."Lungs of a dragon to breath fire, scales of a dragon to disolve flames and claws of a dragon to wrap in flames. It's an ancient spell that transforms the user's body parts in to those of a dragon. Used to kill dragons, Dragon Slayer magic. And I think I got it when I came here." He said, reciting the speech he'd heard in an anime.
Celestia nodded, thinking about what to do. "Well...I have decided. You shall go with Pinkie Pie to Ponyville and stay with my Faithful Student, Twilight Sparkle." Blayze nodded, excited to see the rest of the gang.
After the carriage that Celestia had arranged for them brought them back to Ponyville, they walked through the center of town, all the ponies eyeing Blayze carefully. It seems they don't mind him as much, but are still wary. After a few minutes they arrived at Twilight's Library. Pinkie knocked on the door and it was opened by Spike.
"Oh, hi there, come on in, Twilight's waiting for ya." He stepped aside and let them in. Blayze was impressed by the size of the library, it was going to be a pleasant stay. He hoped. His thoughts were interrupted by a purple unicorn sitting on a couch.
"Have a seat, Blayze, we have a lot to talk about." Oh boy, here we go again. He sat down and began to explain everything, with the ocasional interruption from Pinkie Pie.
Author's Note
Hey, I'm back. I know it's a short one, but it's all I could do with the time I have at the moment with school and everything. But I'll try and write longer chapters for you guys. Also, if I'm going too fast, tell me.
Okay, so, bet you're all excited to see a new chapter up. Well unfortunatley, this story is ending here.
The reason for this is I can't write anything for this. I don't know where I was going with it and the idea died in my head. I will be making another story, which will probably be up today. I will add another chapter with the link to it later.
Sorry, I'll make it up for y'all with the new one though :D
For those of you who want to read my new story, here it is: Mussorgsky
