Saturday was without a doubt everyone’s favorite day of the week. The beginning of the weekend which could be a day off from work, or two days off from school. Regardless of the reason there always seemed to be something that raised everyone’s spirits. For Fluttershy, this was a day that she held dear, the day when she and Rarity would attend to their spa appointment. Every week since the first time Rarity invited Fluttershy to join her had always been a day to be remembered. Rarity was one of the few friends at the time that she ever truly felt she could be herself around, always finding comfort in being alone with her.

And as the years had gone by that feeling had only grown stronger, and she couldn’t wait for the next weekend just so she could be alone with Rarity again. At first it had confused her, it was after all the first time she’d felt anything like it about another woman. But in time she had finally understood, and it fell around the time she’d finally come to terms with her own sexuality. Her feelings for her friend were more than one should have for one, and though she had come to understand it, there had been a problem that arose.

Strong as Fluttershy’s feelings may have been, there was one absolute that she couldn’t overcome. No matter how may have wanted it to be a little differently, Rarity was as straight as they came. Something that would only be cemented further with every spa visit as she listened to each of Rarity’s goals and plans to find Mr. Right. The man who would pick her up off her feet and whisk her away into a life of luxury. It was hard, but Fluttershy had to accept that she couldn’t quite compete with that, and instead grew satisfied with just being in Rarity’s life.

In time she’d find a few women who shared in her desires, Pinkie Pie, to her surprise at the time being the most recent. And while she was happy to have something like that in good friends, she could never quite shake the longing she had for the one she could never have. But she could live with it, after all, nothing was going to change about that.

“And here’s your lunch Angle.” Fluttershy said placing a salad bowl down for her pet. The small rabbit gave a small huff before grabbing the bowl and dragging it away. With a nod Fluttershy turned her attention to the other animals in and around her home. “Looks like everyone’s fed now.” Pulling at her sleeve Fluttershy checked for the time and gave a smile. Walking up to her table Fluttershy grabbed her handbag and made her way to the door.

“Okay I’ll be gone for a few hours, everyone be good while I’m away okay?” simultaneously every animal looked away from their food and offered a wave to their caretaker, all minus Angle who rolled his eyes. Fluttershy held a hand to her mouth and giggled, turning around to her door and opening it. But as soon as she took a step out, she was met with some resistance.

“Oof!” she said as she staggered back, shaking her head she looked back to see Rarity rubbing her nose. She hadn’t noticed it from the moment of impact, but her she had bumped into Rarity chest first, her large bust slamming into Rarity’s face.

“They’re firmer than I’d imagined…” Rarity thought to herself as she rubbed her nose slightly. But as she did she was unable to notice Fluttershy running up to her.

“Oh no I’m so sorry!” Fluttershy said trying to get a look at Rarity’s nose. “I-I was saying good bye to everyone and I wasn’t looking. I-It’s not broken is it, do I need to get a first aid kid, do you need me to call-“if allowed Fluttershy would go through an entire checklist of the things she could do for Rarity in that moment. Normally a simple wake of the hand or placing one on her shoulder could be enough to calm Fluttershy, but what Rarity did didn’t so much as calm her, but surprise her to a point of silence.

“Darling, relax, take a deep breath.” Fluttershy felt a gentle touch, and it was right at the side of her face. Unsure of how to process this Fluttershy simply froze, Rarity had never touched her like this, not even to calm her down. As a result, she could only thing to do what Rarity had asked of her. Closing her eyes Fluttershy took in a deep breath and held it for several seconds before letting it out.

“Better?” Rarity asked with a warm smile and only once Fluttershy nodded did she finally remove her hand.

“Um…is everything okay?” Rarity tilted her head and gave off a small chuckle.

“Well of course, why wouldn’t they be?”

“It’s just, usually I meet you at the spa, this…this is the first time you came here first.” The spa was but a brisk walk away from Rarity’s home where as Fluttershy lived outside of the towns limits. Due to how out of the way it was they’d agreed that Rarity would simply arrive at the spa and wait for Fluttershy. And yet here she was, standing right in front of Fluttershy’s home.

“I thought that perhaps you’d enjoy some company on your walk back to town. That maybe the two of us could talk while we walk, help pass the time a little?” without giving Fluttershy time to respond Rarity had already begun to slowly walk away. Though still confused, her mind trying to wrap around why Rarity seemed to be acting so strangely today. Fluttershy still managed to lock her door and run to catch up to her friend. Quickly matching Rarity’s rather relaxed walking pace Fluttershy found herself pressed for words.

“I-um, so…w-what did you want to talk about?” Rarity’s eyes looked around, as though contemplating that very question before offering a shrug.

“Nothing in particular, just whatever comes off the top of our minds should suffice.” Fluttershy nodded in agreement, and yet still she was back to silence. She couldn’t think of much else, only back to a few minutes ago when she felt the soft touch of Rarity’s hand. She could still feel the warmth, and a small part of her longed to feel it again.

“Just what was that about…” she wondered, she never seen Rarity touch anyone else like that.

“No…that’s not true…” She had seen it before, a few times to be exact, but never used in a casual fashion. The only times she’d seen Rarity hold someone’s face in that matter, only time she’d seen that particular warming smile, was Rarity was with another man. The subtle flirting that Rarity uses to show a man that she is interested in them. She knew this before Rarity herself had explained what it meant.

“But…” With that in mind Fluttershy stopped in her walk, her mind once again trying to make sense of it all. It was a tactic to show a man that she was interested in him, so why, why would she do something like this to her, another woman? Was it supposed to mean something, was Rarity trying to tell her something back there?

“No, no…” Fluttershy shook her head “You’re just reading too much into it.”

“Is everything alright, darling?” Fluttershy blinked and noticed Rarity looking back at her. Shaking her head, she quickly offered a smile.

“Sorry, I was just thinking of something,” she said walking up to Rarity “It’s nothing important.” Rarity looked at Fluttershy and nodded her head, the two continuing their walk.

“I will say this; I’m simply dying for today’s spa appointment. I don’t want to give anything away, but I will say that it may prove to be the best one yet, it’ll be a day you’ll never forget!” Rarity practically squealed as she said this, clasping her hands together in excitement.

“You didn’t have to do that for me, it’s bad enough that you’re always paying for both out spa charges.” It was a small thing that always bothered Fluttershy. At her income she could never afford the pampering Rarity ordered, and yet Rarity would never allow her to try and pay her back.

“Pish Posh darling, seeing you enjoying yourself is more than enough for me.” For another surprise Rarity moved in closer and placed a hand around Fluttershy’s hip, pulling her closer. “I’ll always be here to make you happy, you know that, right?”

“O-of course I d-do.” Fluttershy’s heart began to race, had Rarity not removed her hand in that moment she feared she may have lost her composure.

“Excellent, after all, what are friends for?” just like that any assumptions Fluttershy may have had were suddenly blown away. For a moment she felt a sharp sting in her chest, but she still stood strong, or as strong as she could be. Holding her smile both she and Rarity continued their walk.

“Yes, just friends. Now….and forever…”

The spa was as Fluttershy always remembered it, warm, welcoming, and lightly scented. Be it the shampoo they used, of the bath salts that lined the many pools. It was an ambience that she could never grow tired of. And yet, there was something different about today, though the spa was never packed per say, today there appeared to be no one else. “Slow day?” Fluttershy wondered.

“Actually I reserved the whole spa for the next few hours.” Fluttershy wasn’t sure what shocked her more, what Rarity said or how casually she’d said it. But before she could say anything she was met with a hand under her chin.

“Relax, it didn’t cost me anything extra, just had to ask for a small favor is all.” At the very least it meant Fluttershy wouldn’t have to feel guilty about this. The two continued forward until they reached the counter, both Aloe and Lotus waiting patiently for their arrival.

“Ah ladies, you’ve arrived.” Aloe said happily.

“Thank you for making this possible, I apologize if this is an inconvenience.” Lotus waved a dismissing hand at Rarity.

“Your weekly visits plus everything else you buy from us make up the bulk of our income, we’d do anything to insure your continued satisfaction.” Though Rarity was never one to take advantage, she did enjoy the perks of being a best customer.

“Now then, if you’ll come with me I’ll take you to the changing rooms.” Rarity and Fluttershy nodded and walked after Aloe. Soon enough Fluttershy was stepping into one of the changing rooms, finally alone with her thoughts. She still couldn’t help but think of what happened back at her home, even if the implications were shut down with a simple few word. A small part of her simply wished that it had been as she imagined, that it did mean something. But in the end that’s all it was, wishful thinking, and nothing more.

“Stop it, you’ve known this for a long time now.” Fluttershy whispered, as she cast away her top. “Just be happy she’s in your life, that’s more than enough.” As easy as it was to say that didn’t mean it was as easy to be convinced by. But deep down she was sure this would pass, and eventually she could just go back to admiring Rarity in secret.

“Are you alright in there, darling?” Fluttershy flinched, she’d thought about it for so long she didn’t notice how much time had passed.

“Y-yes, just fine,” she reassured “Just lost in thought is all.” Quickly she was able to rid herself of her pants and undergarments, placing all her clothes in the basket provided. But before she reached out for her robe she took a moment to look into the mirror. Fluttershy wasn’t one to splurge herself in self-care, never really doing much other than the minimal needed to keep up her appearance. And yet from time to time she did enjoy looking at her reflection. Though bashful when it came to complimenting herself, Fluttershy couldn’t deny that she was pleasing to the eyes.

“Well…some eyes.” She shook her head and banished the thoughts, sliding her arms through the sleeves of her robe and tying her sash around her waist before exiting the changing room. Just as she stepped out she saw Rarity waiting in the hall, leaned over against the wall with arms crossed.

“Sorry for the wait.” Rarity showed no signs of restlessness, rather she seemed rather pleased as the smile on her face never faded.

“Some of the best things in life are worth waiting for dear, remember that.” With a wink Rarity stepped away leaving Fluttershy even more confused than she was before. Despite this she still managed to follow her towards the sauna where Lotus was waiting for them.

“Step right in ladies, and take a long as you wish.” Lotus said with smile, Rarity and Fluttershy nodding at her as they stepped through the door. Lotus watched as they stepped inside, waiting patiently for the door to close before finally going into a full sprint back to the front counter.

“Please tell me you noticed it too!” Lotus said with stars in her eyes.

“Oh how could I not?!” Aloe responded with a clap of her hands, both she and her sister incapable of suppressing their overall joy for the situation. Fluttershy and Rarity were always their biggest topic of their ‘will they, won’t they?’ debate. And from the looks of it, they were looking at a big moment for the two of them. Obviously something like this needs would need to be treated with care and the upmost of respect.

“You get the toys, I’ll turn on the cameras!” without wasting a moment Lotus jumped over the counter and locked the doors for the shop, they needed no interruptions today. And after making sure any windows that could allow sight into the shop, Lotus made her way to the V.I.P rooms of the spa. Today would prove to be fun for everyone.
