Doubles in Hell's Kitchen
"So. Mrs. . ."
"Robyn."
"Robyn what?" Foggy Nelson asked while sitting with a client. He and Matt Murdock were defense lawyers.
"I'd prefer not to say. I don't trust you with that much info. Who knows what could happen!" The red haired short women with freckles asnwered. Foggy sighed in response.
"Ma'am, you need to give us your last name for us to-"
"We'll come back to that Foggy, let's just hear her out first." The blind Matt Murdock interupted.
"Thank you. Some black haired cougar bitch is seducing my brother!"
"Kay. How old is your brother?" Foggy asked.
"He's only 20!" Matt and Foggy exchanged glances, then turned towards Robyn.
"Ma'am, I'm afraid we can't take your case. Please leave." Matt announced.
"What?! Why?! What kind of lawyers are you?! Not taking an important case! My brother matters to me! I can't believe you!"
"Please, Ms. Robyn, leave. I'm sure someone else could take your case if they wanted to, but we don't feel like this should be taken to court. I don't even know why it is."
"It's not being taken to court!"
"Then why are you coming to lawyers?" Foggy asked.
"I don't trust the police."
"Of course you don't. Just hire a private investigator!"
"Fine! If you aren't going to help me, I'll just have to handle this myself!" Robyn then stormed out the door.
"Jesus Matt, why can't we have any clients that aren't lunatics, or guilty?"
"I don't know, but we'll need one fast. We need the money."
"Yeah, I realize we need money. People say money can't buy you happiness, but I'd sure be happy to have some money!"
*knock* *knock* *knock* There was someone at the door. Foggy stood up and opened the door, where a brown-skinned man with lumpy hair that shot diagonally forward stood. "You guys are lawyers right?" He said.
"That we are." Foggy replied. "I assume you're a client."
"Yes. I need help."
"Well then sit down, and tell us what's up." The man walked over to the table and sat across from Matt and Foggy. "What's your name?"
"My name is Malcolm. I'm on trial for a crime I didn't commit. Or . . . I did commit, but not me."
"What?" Foggy asked.
"Um . . . so basically I killed someone. But not me. Someone who looks exactly like me. And no. I don't have a twin brother. I know it sounds crazy, but I have an alibi! The police just think the person confirming it is lying. I know it's a lot to take in, but no lawyers have believed me. I can even show you the security tape! The guy looks exactly like me, but two friends of mine, Jessica Jones, and Trish Walker were with me in Jessica's apartment!"
"Umm. Okay, bring out the security tape." Matt said.
"I have it on a flashdrive."
"How do you have it?"
"Trish was able to pull some strings for me. She's a famous talk show host." Malcolm was fishing through his bag for the flashdrive, while Foggy brought out a computer.
"Yeah, I recognize the name, but I never really got into the show." Foggy said. Malcolm pulled out the flashdrive, and plugged it into the computer. Foggy then pulled it up. He and Malcolm watched it. What was depicted was a man who looked exactly like Malcolm, as expected, in a coffee shop. The supposed doppleganger then reached into his maroon duffle bag, and pulled out an AK-47. The people were screaming and running for the exits before three men carrying the same weaponry blocked the exit. The entire group then proceeded to rob the store of all it's money. "Okay so how does this prove your innocence?"
"Look at the time on the video."
"Alright. 2:49 p.m."
"Now look at the time on the security camera of me, Jess, and Trish walking into an apartment." The video then transitioned to a video of just the thing Malcolm described."
"2:49 p.m."
"Did these events happen on the same day?" Matt asked.
"Yes. Security officers can confirm it, and the police know it as well."
"If these two events were clearly happening at the exact same time and the exact same day why are you still being held for a trial? You have a proven alibi."
"The police believe the people at the coffee shop tampered with the security tapes."
"Alright, then. We want to take your case Malcolm, but let's get to the topic of money." Foggy told him.
"Trish says anyone who takes my case will be payed accordingly. Ten-thousand was the amount of money if I remember correctly." Matt and Foggy's jaws dropped. Ten thousand? This was their chance. An amazing chance to get themselves out there as lawyers. Matt believed the case was easy enough. Talk about how only the facts matter in a court of law, and boom. The verdict of "Not-guilty" is delivered and Malcolm walks home free, and they walk home with ten-thousand dollars. Matt thought about it for a little bit though. He finally grasped what truly didn't make sense. The part of this case that was really odd. It was painfully obvious and he didn't really notice it until now. How in the hell are there two Malcolms?!
Daredevil: Invasion of the Multiverse
Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson took Malcolm's case. The trial is in five days. Matt decided to head to the coffee shop where the robbery occured. There had to be something there that could put him on some kind of track. Hopefully the right one. One thing was for sure though. He's not getting shit alone.
*knock* *knock* *knock*
The door marked "Alias Investigations" swung open. A woman with long black hair stood in the doorway.
"Yeah?" She asked.
"I assume you're Jessica Jones, private investigator." Matt said.
"Yeah. What do you need?" Jessica said dryly.
"I'm Malcolm's lawyer, and I need a favor." Jessica let out a heavy sigh at Matt's response.
"I don't do favors."
"Too bad, I need one." Jessica let out another, heavier sigh.
"Well, what is it? I might consider it."
"Malcolm was in two places at once. I need you to help me find out how the hell that's possible."
"Okay. Get on with it already! I don't really have all day."
'Jesus, what's her hurry. She's uneasy as all hell. I wonder why. Oh well, no need to dwell on it now.' Matt thought. "I need you to come with me and ask the employees at the coffee shop about what happened. Being just a lawyer, I have no ability to gain such information. You, being a P.I., do. I'll pay you if you need, but I will accompany you."
Jessica took a second to let all that sink in. "Sure. Honestly, I've been curious about that too. One thing though."
"What is it?"
"I'll require fifty dollars."
"For what?"
"For me dipshit, now let's go." Matt disregarded Jessica's manners and followed her.
Matt and Jessica entered the coffee shop and sauntered up to the seemingly middle aged man with a scar on his shoulder.
"Hi, my name is Jessica Jones. I'm a private investigator and one of my clients has a problem tied in with the robbery last week. I'd like you to tell me about the event. Every last detail you can remember will be very helpful."
"How does your client's problem come into play with the robbery?" The man asked.
"You see there's a reason I'm called a PRIVATE investigator. My clients' issues are supposed to be kept between them and me. I'm the one asking the questions, you're the one providing the answers. Now, please give me every last detail you remember about the robbery."
The man sighed. "Fine. I was taking an elderly woman's order when a man with a gun stood up. It didn't take long before the shop went into panic. He yelled and told everybody to get down. I tried fighting back with a kitchen knife, and he shot me in the shoulder. I blacked out."
"Frankly, that explanation was shit. Ugh. Did the man order anything?"
"Yes he did."
"Did you take the order?"
"Yes."
"Now we're getting somewhere. Was there anything strange about the man. From head to toe was there anything at all out of the ordinary about this person."
"Hmm. Well one thing did strike me as odd. It was his eyes. They were a bright, neon green. I'd never seen eyes neon green, have you?"
"No. No I haven't. Sir, thank you for your time, that's all I need."
"Sure. No problem." Jessica and Matt left the coffee shop.
"Neon green eyes? I am of course not an expert on eye color, but I'm pretty sure eyes don't come in neon green." Matt pondered aloud.
"No they don't. Listen Matt, neon green eyes isn't a huge lead. I welcome you to try to understand a double Malcolm situation with just "neon green eyes".
"I'm sure I can figure something out."
"Good luck blind man."
"I'll need it."
10:00 p.m.
Jessica Jones was just about to undress and get in bed when she felt a hand on her shoulder.
"WHAT THE FU--!!!!!!" Another hand was covering her mouth.
"Jessica Jones. I need your help" The man in the red suit declared.
"Emmee o ih yuh nee muh hip!" A hand was removed. "What the hell is your problem?!"
"I'm going about my job effeciently."
"How in the hell was that-ugh. You're Daredevil, correct? How do you know my name? And what the hell is so important that you had to break into my apartment and attack me just to get my God damn help?!"
"Jessica, can you keep secrets?"
"I'm a private investigator. What the hell do you think?" Daredevil nodded and began to lift his mask. What Jessica saw made her eyes widen, and her jaw drop. "Matt? You're the devil of Hell's Kitchen? The blind lawyer is Daredevil! What the hell?!"
"Shut up!" Jessica drew back. "I need you to come with me and point out people with neon green eyes."
"Wow. You're actually-"
"It won't take long."
"Really?"
"Really."
"Really?!"
"Really!"
"REAL-"
"YES!! REALLY!! I'M SERIOUS!!"
". . . .. . . . .. . . okay."
Daredevil and Jessica Jones set out to the streets of Hell's Kitchen to find anyone with neon green eyes and question them. They ended up seeing a couple, but they were too close to public. They searched throughout the docks and the slums of Hell's Kitchen. Eventually, they came across some green eyed, seemingly ordinary people. The real attraction in this scene, though was what these people were guarding. A purple hole surrounded by a lavender aura was floating in the air behind them. The hole was less of a round chasm, but more of a rip.
"Jessica, I'll take out the guards and check out the rip. It looks like something I can go through, so I'll most likely do that. Are you up for it?"
"Nah, I don't feel like dying. I'll happily help you fight those two."
"Okay." Matt and Jessica then proceeded to drop down behind the two guards. Daredevil punched one in the back of the head, then repeated until he was unconcious. Alive, but asleep. While he was doing that, Jessica punched the other one in the back, and he flew into a building. Daredevil looked up from his attack.
"What? I've got powers. Is that a problem?"
"Not at all." Jessica left and Daredevil began to inspect the rip. He looked at it for a while, and eventually his curiosity was peaked. Matt Murdock leapt through the portal.
"uuuuugggghhhh" Matt groaned. He was struggling to open his eyes.
"Look sis! He's wakin' up!" A high pitched voice exclaimed.
"Well Ah'll be. I thought he was a goner." Another said.
"AJ yer no medical expert. Ah knew he'd pull throu---*snore*" What sounded like an elderly woman said before falling asleep.
"He's openin' his eyes!" The higher voice said.
"Ugh, what the hell?"
"Mister? Are you alright?"
"Ugh. I'm sorry. For the past few minutes I've been trying to grasp the fact that I'm surrounded by a bunch of talking horses."
Daredevil: Invasion of the Multiverse
Matt hid from Applejack in the trees while she was searching. He climbed from tree to tree, looking for a way to civilization. He eventually foung himself coming back to the farm, where he sneaked out of the it.
Finally. I'm out. This dirt road probably leads somewhere. Possibly that town she was talking about. Ponyville. Holy shit, this is wierd.
Matt followed the road until he "saw" what seemed to be a town. His assumption had been correct. Now, it was time to check things out. He thought he might be able to find some clue as to where he was, and what happened.
Matt stepped into the quaint little town of Ponyville. He trotted around for a while, trying to find some clue as to where he was when he caught a pony looking at him. Her mane was very . . . poofy . . . and her pupils had shrunk.
*GAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSPPPPPP* Matt reeled back as the pony leaped into the air with her mouth wider than Matt thought possible. She then dashed away, leaving the hero utterly bewildered. He recollected his thoughts and continued onward. He saw a young, toothpick of a Pegasus handing out newspapers. Matt trotted up to him and asked for a copy. It was happily delivered to him, and he sat down on a bench to "read".
"March 15. This universe appears to have the same timeline as mine." Matt though aloud. He then continued to read. "Changeling reports all across Equestria. Equestria. That must be the name of this world. Or nation. But what's a Changeling?" Matt read further. "In case you are unaware, Changelings are beings that can change their form to look like anyone. That sounds pretty familiar. It just might be the reason for Malcolm's doppelgänger, but why? Why do these creatures seem to be coming to Earth? I'm assuming the hole I went through is their transportation. There are probably more. But why?"
"Hey, guy talking to yourself."
"Augh!" Matt shot up and looked frantically for where the voice was coming from. It turned out to originate from a blue Pegasus directly in front of him.
"Geez, calm down. I was just wondering why you were talking to yourself. I couldn't help but hear your loud conversation with the invisible pony right next to you."
"Ha ha. You're funny as a crutch." Matt said rolling his eyes. "To answer your question though, I was reading the paper and just happened to start thinking about loud."
"Oh, is that so? The whole Changeling stuff in the paper totally explains the talk of alternate universes." The Pegasus said sarcastically.
"Well, you see I'm a scientist researching time travel. . .alternate universes, and . . . all that." The pony raised her eyebrow.
"Welp, I've officially lost interest. I'll interrogate you more later." The Pegasus then shot him a slightly menacing glance before zooming off.
"Time for some more exploration I suppose." Matt walked around for a bit until he came a cross a sign. He rubbed his hoof over the sign a bit. "Golden Oaks Library. Now THAT can be of use to me."
Daredevil: Invasion of the Multiverse
"Past few minutes? Darlin' yer only just openin' yer eyes."
"I can explain that later."
"How much later is later?"
"Later."
"Gee. Thanks. Oh, by the way, we're not horses. We're ponies. Ya know. The smaller horse."
"Yeah, well my hearing's not so great when I'm just waking up."
"Hearing?"
"We'll get back to that. I just have a lot of questions to ask."
"I bet ya do. After I've answered them, how's about ya answer mine."
"Sure. 1st question, where am I and how did I get here?"
"Why, yer at Sweet Apple Acres! The main source of apples fer Ponyville! Oh, and we're not too knowledgable on how ya got here. All I know is that I found ya layin' unconcious out in the orchard. You were in some kinda suit-thing that didn't fit ya. I brought ya back to the barn. I could barely feel a pulse. Didn't think ya'd make it, but sure enough, ya did."
"Um . . . okay. Next question then. Who are you?"
"My name's Applejack. That little filly over there is Applebloom. There's Big Mac, and over there snoozin' is Granny Smith." Wow. So there's cereal, fruit flower, McDonald's, and sour green.
"Alright. Last. Why can't I feel my fingers, toes, hands, or feet? I feel nothing but wierd little stubs."
"What in the hay are those?"
"The appendages on the bottom of my arms and legs."
"Darlin', ya musta hit yer head. All we got here are hooves."
"AH. Great. So I'm a pony."
"Damn right you are!"
"Well that would explain the wierd feelings I have on the top my head and rear. I assume ears and a tail."
"Uh. Yeah. Listen sugarcube, I think you should just go back to sleep."
"I thought you needed questions answered."
"Yeah, but I think it'd be better fer you to just get some rest."
"Well, thank you for your hospitality. I'll just be on my w-"
"If yer just gonna leave, I want questions answered!"
"Too late, I'm already off."
"No, wait! Celestia dammit get yer flank back here!" Matt was gone. A heavy, anger-filled sigh escaped Applejack's mouth as she began to dart after him.
Oh, she's following me. Probably after answers. There's no time though. I only have four days to leave this place. If I can't, I dont know if Malcolm can get in the clear. Oh Lord, why the hell am I a pony in a world of ponies? I thought maybe I could relax a little better now that Fisk is behind bars, but no! I just have to be sucked into a world of sentient, tiny horses! Ugh. I bet foggy has it handled though. He can do it. He went to law school. Yeah. It'll be fine.
MEANWHILE IN ANOTHER DIMENSION
"God dammit Matt! Where the hell are you?!!"
