Braveheart, Sunset Shimmer, Blazing Fire, Seras Victoria, and Alushy were all sitting quietly in the hospital waiting room. They had been doing so for the past few days, hoping and praying that Rainbow Dash would recover. Despite Doctor Redheart’s requests for them to leave, none of them would budge. They were not going to abandon their friend when her time seemed to be shortening. Redheart eventually accepted the fact and left them alone. None of the group moved. Braveheart had packed a bit of food, and it was used sparingly. They didn’t want to make a run home, because they might miss something. Even if that something was just waiting for a sign of some sort. They never said a word, they never changed seats, nor did they often eat. They were all too worried for Rainbow Dash. After about another hour, Doctor Redheart came up to Braveheart and whispered into his ear. He nodded and stood up.

“Where are you going?” Sunset quietly asked.

“Dash just woke up,” Braveheart explained. “She wants to talk to me.” Sunset nodded and Braveheart followed Redheart to the room Dash was in. Redheart quietly opened the door and let Braveheart step inside before closing it. Braveheart looked toward the hospital bed.

Rainbow Dash was lying down, looking at the ceiling. And IV needle was in her arm and oxygen mask was over her face. She wore a light teal hospital gown and a patient band over her other arm. The heart rate meter kept a steady pace, making itself the only sound in the room other than Dash’s breathing. Braveheart slowly pulled up a nearby chair by the window and sat down. Dash didn’t turn her head.

“You wanted to see me, Mom?” Braveheart asked.

“Yeah,” Rainbow Dash quietly said. “Turn that heart meter off, will you? It’s hurting my ears.” Braveheart nodded and cast a spell on the device, silencing it. Dash smiled under her mask.

“Much better,” she sighed. She turned her head toward Braveheart, meeting gazes with him. Tears were welling up in his eyes. “Why are you crying, Braveheart?” she asked. Braveheart stayed quiet for a moment before answering.

“Because I don’t want you to die,” he quietly said. “You were the closest thing to a mother I ever had. And I don’t want that to end here.” Dash gave a warm smile and wiped away a tear running down Braveheart’s cheek.

“You know I won’t be gone for good,” she said. “You’ll always remember me, and that on its on keeps me with you.” Braveheart closed his eyes, clasping Dash’s hand with his mechanical one. He was an emotional wreck at this point, knowing she wasn’t going to make it.

“I don’t want you to go,” he gasped between sobs. “I can’t let you die.”

“Son, look at me,” Dash said. Braveheart opened his eyes. They were wet with tears, which were running down his face. “At some point, even Sunset and Blazing Fire will pass on,” Rainbow said. “But you won’t. That’s something you’ll have to live with. You can’t die from age like most ponies can. I know that it’ll be hard, but again, remember. As long as they remain in your heart, they’ll always be with you. And remember something. To me, you’ll always be the one thing that made my life much more than 20 percent cooler.” Braveheart nodded, sobbing uncontrollably. He could feel Dash’s grip loosening.

“Don’t go,” he gasped. “Please don’t go.”

“Braveheart,” Dash quietly said. “Promise me something. Promise that you’ll take the best care of your family. Don’t let your daughter be raised the way your birth parents raised you. Or lack thereof. Will you do that for me?”

“I promise,” Braveheart nodded.

“Tell little Scoots of my fate,” Dash requested. “Tell her…that I’m…proud…of her…” With that, Rainbow Dash closed her eyes and exhaled her final breath. Braveheart put her hand to his head, weeping over her deathbed. He lost focus on the silence spell, and the heart rate meter rang out with a flat line. Doctor Redheart heard and quickly ran into the room. She saw Braveheart crying over Dash’s body, and she walked over to the heart meter and turned it off.

“I’m so sorry,” she said. Braveheart didn’t say a word. He just sat there, mourning his mother’s death.

Sunset and Blazing were asleep in the waiting room. Alushy and Seras remained awake. Braveheart walked into the room arms wrapped around himself. Alushy nudged Blazing, and she and Sunset both woke up.

“Oh, Braveheart, you’re back,” Sunset said. “So, how’d it go?” Braveheart sat down next to Sunset, burying his face in his hands.

“She’s gone,” he said, barely a whisper. “Rainbow Dash is gone.” Sunset brought a hand to her mouth.

“Are you serious?” she gasped. Braveheart slowly nodded. Sunset slouched back in her chair, trying to comprehend the fact that Dash had just died. Blazing overheard and leaned up against Sunset, wrapping her arms around her. Sunset hugged Blazing tight. The waiting room was silent with the feeling of loss. After a bit, the group left the hospital and returned home. Dash had sacrificed her life to protect Hellsing after returning from Millennium. Tirek had been defeated, Iscariot subdued, and Equestria brought back to peace. Alushy and Seras lived with Braveheart’s family in Ponyville, and the rest of the days in that house in Ponyville were ones of happiness and rememberance for Rainbow Dash. Hellsing would remain dormant until another threat struck, because they were on a mission from Celestia.
