MAYOR MARE WITHDRAWS FROM RE-ELECTION CAMPAIGN

Ponyville has been in the midst of a mayoral election season for the past several months, and now, Mayor Mare has announced that she will no longer be seeking re-election.

"I'll be candid, my age is starting to catch up with me, and it is time for someone else to take the reins," the Mayor commented.

Mare, aged 81 years old, has stated that she will focus on completed the remainder of her term, before looking to the greener pastures of retirement.

Filthy Rich, CEO of Barnyard Bargains, has been running an election campaign in opposition, as part of the 'Bit-o-holics' party.

A group of Mayor Mare supporters was outside Town Hall, the majority holding signs stating, 'ANYPONY YOUNGER'.

"I'd vote for Discord, I don't really care. Anyone but Rich," stated local Wonderbolt Rainbow Danger Dash.

"Oh good heavens, no," replied Discord in an interview shortly after. "I may be an omnipotent god of chaos, but even I'm not brave enough for the insanity of politics."

Mayor Mare's successor in the campaign is yet to be determined.
