Of course, the most prominent use of the word comes from the need to vent out frustration, not to mention that there is something overly satisfying in saying the word 'Fuck' aggressively.

I sure as hell won't stop saying it, but I have a very good reason why. Because you see… I'm fucked.
Hmm… maybe I should elaborate.
It all started last night. I was on my way back home from my friend's house when it started raining like crazy. Seriously this winter sucked. Anyway, my car decided that it did not need my front lights so they went out… just as I was driving next to a cliff.
Suffice to say, I don't think my car insurance will cover the amount of damage my shitty car sustained, though at the time I was more worried about the piece of metal that pierced my chest.
It was not fair. I was a decent person. I payed my bills on time, avoided drugs and alcohol, and worked hard. I did all this and asked for nothing in return. And what is my reward for this? A fucking metal rod through my heart. If I did believe in God then, I sure as hell do not believe in him now.
I tried to open my sore eyes only to hiss when the sun decided that I have not suffered enough. It took me some time to get used to the light and when I did I discovered something quite shocking.
"Where the hell am I?"
Nothing was how it was supposed to be. I lived in a small town on the mountains, with forests stretching for miles in every direction. Instead of the tall pine trees I expected to see, I was standing in the middle of field. Long grass stretched as far as the eye can see. On one side I saw a distant line of trees and on the other side loomed a huge mountain. A river flowed next to me with sparkling and seemingly clean water.
A sudden feeling of dryness forced me on my knees as I dunked my face into the water and drank greedily, the cool water felt so refreshing on my face and neck.
As I rose back up, the water trickled down on my body. One thing became apparent. I was butt naked.
"Oh come on! Really?!" I yelled.
I must have been exceptionally cruel to puppies in my past life to deserve this kind of punishment!
I would have probably stayed all day like that, wailing and cursing. But then I felt something behind me, or more precisely, on me. Some of the water that dripped down my back ran down on something that did not feel like my back. It felt it like it was part of my body but I've never felt anything like it before.
I turned my head and tried to look at my back to the best of my abilities, and that is when I noticed something truly fucked up.
Wings! I had bat-like wings!
I managed to grasp my new limb, bringing it to my front and careful not to pull too hard. It felt weird having wings, but also surprisingly natural. I let my new wing out of my grasp and managed to flex them just as easily as it would with my arms. I was so busy admiring my new wings that I jumped out of my skin when something brushed against my leg.
I looked down, ready to stomp the bug into paste when I saw what appeared to be a black snake crawling up my leg. Naturally, I stomped it.
"Mother fucker!"
Holy shit, that was my tail! I just stomped on my newly formed tail with full force! I fell down on the grass and curled into a ball of pain. During my time of misery, my wings instinctively curled around me, shielding me from the outside world. I would have freaked out if I was not in so much pain.
Once the pain on my tail turned into an aching thump, I regained my footing and examined my new tail. Just like my wings, it too, felt completely natural and I had full control of it. It was smooth and black, just like my wings, and ended with a flat heart-shaped tip.
"Huh, neat. Fucked up, but otherwise pretty neat," I mumbled. After that I decided to check the rest of my bodies for new oddities. My legs seemed pretty normal. So was my chest. I then approached the river and knelt down, examining my face.
At first I thought my face was fine, but then I detected a few black blobs reflecting of the surface of the distorted water. I brought my hands towards my head and started feeling it, and what I felt left me more than a little shocked.
Admittedly, I should have expected this by now, but I wasn't really thinking clearly. I had not one, but two pairs of black horns. The first pair was located above my forehead and it was barely visible against my dark brown hair. The second pair… well, there was no way in hell I could hide it. The second pair was located at the very top of my head and it was probably half the length of my face. And to put the cherry on the cake, I had freaking cat-like ears. I mean come on! I was not even sure I was a human anymore.
My head was drowning with thoughts and questions. How did I get here? Where exactly is 'here'? What happened to me?
I spent a good portion of my time freaking out. I kept touching my new body parts, mumbling how it was all just a dream and I was simply out cold on my friend's couch. But no matter how much I wanted it to be just a bad dream, everything simply felt too real, and I was reminded yet again of the fact that I was naked and it was about to turn night.
It wasn't until I head shuffling behind me that I snapped out of my thoughts. My ears swiveled –seriously, they did- towards the noise, and I soon afterwards.
What I saw completely threw me off guard.
Not ten feet in front of me stood a woman. Stupidly sexy woman I might add. She had the deepest shade of ginger hair I have ever seen and piercing dark blue eyes. Her face was lightly peppered with freckles across her cheeks and nose. Her body was completely concealed under thick layers of furs.
"Aren't ye cold?"
"Wh-what…?" I asked, dumbstruck.
She look down and pointed at my dick, her other hand shot across her mouth as she giggled. "You look a wee bit cold," she said with what sounded like a light Scottish accent.
I looked down and immediately covered my shriveling junk, cheeks heating up. I stammered for a few moments before I managed to find my words again.
"L-Look, I just woke like this, okay? I don't know where I am or what's going on."
The woman stopped giggling and stared at the sun, which was about halfway beneath the horizon. She then looked at me again with a strange look, sympathy perhaps? I could see an inner struggle reflecting on her eyes. Something was bothering her, and I seemed to be the main subject.
"Look, I know this sounds crazy, but you must believe that I'm a human like you. I do not know how I got the wings, or the tail, or the horns, but if you could just point me towards the nearest town I would be ever so grateful," I said.
The woman stared at me for a long while before she shook her head. "I can't let ye go, not like this. This place is dangerous when night falls, and our kind is not welcomed in towns." Before I could voice out my confusion, she spoke up again, "I know you are confused, but ye need to trust me. I could take you to someplace safe."
I exchanged looks between the setting sun and the woman, red flags went off in my mind. Should I really trust a stranger, especially as odd as this one? And what did she mean by 'our kind'?
More questions filled my mind as I pondered on my situation. Here I am, naked, lost, and with a few… extra features. yeah, let's call 'em that. And then there is this woman whom I have never seen before offering her aid.
"Well?" the woman urged. She offered her hand to me.
Oh, what the hell, nothing ventured nothing gained, right?
"All right I trust you," I said as I reached out to grab the woman's hand.
"Great!" Her hand suddenly grabbed mine by the wrist and pulling me closer to her. I could feel her arm snaking across my back, securing me against her body. And just when I thought things could not get any weirder, two black bat-like wings sprouted from the woman's back as she shot off the ground with me held in her arms screaming in terror.
The woman simply laughed as she looked down at me, that's when I noticed that she also had two pairs of horns, cat-like ears and- much to my horror and confusion- bright yellow slitted eyes.
"By the way-" she shouted over the howling wind. "-my name is Alana. What's yours?"
"D-David!" I yelled.
And as I sailed through the sky in the clutches of a she-demon, only one prominent thought penetrated my mind.
'Fuck!'
Have you ever sat in a car and observed out of the window, imagining a man running along your car across the scenery? You might imagine flying would be the same, right?
Wrong!
It feels like when you wake up from a falling dream, only without the waking up!
I felt Alana's arm tighten around my stomach as she glared at me. "Would you stop being so damn wriggly?! I'm trying to fly over here!"
"Oh I'm sorry. Next time I'll be quieter when I see my life flashing before my eyes!" I shot back.
Alana grunted as her wings flapped a tad faster. "There won't be a next time unless ya stop moving!"
I tried to stop moving, I really did. But when you are held by nothing but your stomach, with the rest of your body exposed to the elements and a great view of your ultimate demise, it gets kind of hard to battle your fight or flight instincts, no pun intended.
Luckily for the both of us, Alana seemed to be descending towards a large ledge at the edge of the mountain. With a final grunt of effort, Alana landed on the rocky ground. She let me go as I practically hugged the ground, not wanting to fly ever again.
Alana lied on the ground next to me. I moved my head to face her, her own face returned to normal.
"Remind me… *huff*… to warn you next time I…*huff*… take you for a short flight," Alana said between gasps.
"You've got some explaining to do!" I said to her as I stood up and dusted myself off. "Who the hell are you?!"
Alana chuckled before standing up as well. "You really haven't figured it out by yourself? I'm a succubus, and you are an incubus."
"I'm a what now?!" I sputtered.
"An incubus, a creature that feeds on desire and carnal lust," Alana answered.
"Wha…"
Alana rolled her eyes before she grabbed my wrist and led me into a cave entrance that, I somehow didn’t noticed until I was quite literally in front of it.
"The cave entrance is enchanted with a spell that makes anyone being unable to focus on it." Alana explained.
"Magic? You really expect me to believe that?" I said, unconvinced. "Sooner or later you'll tell me that dragons and unicorns are real."
"Of course dragons and unicorns exist."
At this point I simply stopped trying to make sense of my situation.
"Where are we going anyway?" I asked, realizing that despite the fact that we were headed deeper into the cave I could see just fine.
"We are going to the den to meet with the others."
"Others? You mean there are other people here?"
"Well, not exactly. You are the only human I saw since I got here myself. We're going to meet with the rest of the den, they’re succubi and incubi like us."
I had a bad feeling about this, like I'm walking into a wolf’s den with a big sign above my head that says 'free samples'. Still, there was a tiny flicker of hope in the back of my mind that it was all just a dream.
As the two of us wandered farther into the cave, I started seeing a small dot of light that got brighter the closer we approached it. It also started to get warmer, which I was thankful since I was still naked.
"Hey David," Alana suddenly spoke up.
"Yeah?"
"Can ye promise me something?"
"Depends…"
"…When you finally meet the others, try to keep any thoughts ye may have to yerself."
I think I might have slowed my pace because Alana turned around to face me.
"You okay David? Ye look a wee bit pale."
"L-Let's just keep walking before I completely lose my shit, okay?"
Alana gave me a look before she shrugged and continued walking. We arrived into an open cavern, the ceiling was pretty damn high and the place was very spacious. The light that I saw from the tunnel was actually a big sphere in the middle of the cavern that almost looked like a mini star. Another oddity for the growing list of things I will probably never understand.
A sudden change of texture underneath my feet caused me to look down. Apparently, the whole place was covered in a soft layer of grass. I sighed in relief as I let my toes spread and catch a few blades of grass between them. The constant walking of stone was starting to take its toll on me.
There was also a small creek running through the very middle of the cavern, with a cute little bridge separating the two banks. A few fruit trees and berry bushes dotted the place, giving off a nice fruity aroma that caused my stomach to grumble, reminding me that I haven't eaten in awhile.
All in all, this place wasn't really that bad. When Alana said 'den' I thought it was more along the lines of decapitated heads in the entrance, weird satanic symbols all over the place and a bunch of old ladies hunched around a stone table mumbling ancient language.
Alana moved to the center of the cavern, raised her hands around her mouth and shouted something in an unfamiliar language. A few moments later four creatures emerged from a tunnel at the other side of the cavern.
Screwing my courage to the sticking place, I decided to march forward and meet the other occupants of the den for myself. If I am going to die, at least I'll die brave.
At least, that's what I said to myself.
The more I saw the creatures more clearly, the less confidence I had, and the slower I moved until I completely stopped, mortified in place.
Alana moved behind me and began pushing me towards the four creatures. I tried to fight her but she was stupidly strong.
My knees started shaking when I came face to face with the others. I craned my head up to stare and the biggest of them all.
A Minotaur! A freaking Minotaur!
He looked down at me and frowned, not a good sign.
"Alana," his voice was deep and old. "Who is this stranger that you brought into our den? And an incubus at that. His scent is unfamiliar to me." He then turned to face me. "Who is your den mother, child?"
"I-I… I don't…. know?"
You know that feeling when you were a child and you broke something that you really should not have broken, and you get that sinking feeling in your stomach? Multiply it by ten and maybe, maybe you will be able to experience what I was experiencing at the time.
"Can't you see that you frightening the poor thing, you ought to be more careful with your words, Galgador?" A female voice spoke up. A weird horse thingy then came into my view. She was pure white with a two-toned light pink mane and tail, light violet eyes, and a horn. No, I'm not kidding with you, she had a horn. "Please forgive Galgador chère, he is not as intimidating as he sounds," the weird unicorn lady said in a French accent –don't ask, I don't know either- as she offered me her hoof. "My name is Fleur De Lis, and this is Galgador Gelvin." Fleur gestured towards the Minotaur.
I hesitantly reached out and shook the mare's hoof. Despite her general equine look she certainly was not like any horse I have ever seen before. Her face was much more expressive, so much so, that calling her an animal would be an insult.
Fleur then elbowed Galgador in the shin –again, don't ask- as she glared at him, gesturing to me.
The Minotaur, or Galgador rather, chuckled sheepishly as he scratched the back of his head. "Heh heh, I'm sorry if I frightened ya little fella. I am sometimes not aware that my appearance can be so… intimidating."
"It's okay," I said, not daring to even entertain the idea of saying that he scared the shit out of me, and risking upsetting the guy.
"Come on Abby, introduce yourself."
"But I don't wanna…"
I turned to face the voices and saw Alana pushing what appeared to be a female dog walking on two legs just like a human. If I had to put a species on her, I would say she was a golden retriever with a bit of Labrador for good measure. The dog woman appeared to be afraid of me, if the tail between her legs was any indication.
It wasn't until the dog woman and I were almost touching noses that Alana stopped pushing her, but she was still behind her to prevent her from bolting.
The dog woman looked at everywhere but me, which surprisingly made me feel a little better. She reminded me of a dog that I used to walk by and feed on my way to work.
"Hey, my name is David, what's yours?" I said, surprising even myself with my forwardness, considering the situation.
"Umm… my name is… Abby…"
"Abby heh? That's a nice name."
"Her full name is Abigail, but we all call her Abby," Alana spoke up from behind Abigail, causing her to blush as she crossed her arms beneath her breasts.
It was around that point that I realized that Abigail wore completely nothing and her crossed arms caused her breasts to bulge forward, giving me an unobstructed view of them. I tried to look away since I was also naked and I did not want my dick to pop for a visit.
Dick aside, there was one more person that I haven't been introduced to formally.
"Come on Shade, say hello," Fleur nudged another horse-like creature. He appeared to be male with dark blue coat and black mane and tail. Unlike the others, he outright glared at me, which put me on edge.
"Umm… hi there," I said. "My name is-"
"I already know your name," he spat, turning to Alana. "Alana what were you thinking?! Bringing an outsider into our den without the den mother's permission is forbidden! You ought to be punished!"
Alana returned the glare tenfold to this Shade fellow, taking a step forward. "And since when do you give a fuck about what the den mother says. Last time I remember you implied that she should be replaced."
"My thoughts had forever been for the good of the den," Shade shot back. "Adding you was a big enough risk as it is, we can't let another outsider in!"
"Why you little-" Alana started but was cut off when a new voice echoed through the cavern.
"Who is this stranger I smell? Alana, who is he?" A female voice spoke up. It vibrated throughout the cavern and through my very bones. I could feel every syllable the woman spoke against my skin.
It appeared that the voice had similar effects on the others, as they all turned to face an opening above the mini sun.
I could hear the beating of massive wings and I could only imagine something just as large descending from the tunnel above. I could see something moving there, but the mini sun was so bright that I could not see clearly. I felt something landing, causing the ground to shake. I lost my footing and fell face forward on the ground.
When I raised my head, I finally saw it…
An unstoppable force, that is one hundred percent, born and bred, no kidding, no fluff, no holds barred, honest to goodness, fire breathing, sheep eating, razor clawed, sharp toothed, gold and princess hoarding, ten ton mass of scales, wings and pure fantasy fury.
A motherfucking dragon!
I think that I handled the situation pretty well.
"Jesus Mary mother of Joseph, run before it devours us all!" I yelled as I ran as fast as humanly possible for the exit. A blue claw suddenly appeared in my vision, moving to intercept me. I ran too fast to change direction and I ended up slamming onto it. Another claw joined the first one and gently tugged on my shoulder, forcing me to turn around and come face to face with a pair of huge bright green eyes.
"Hmm, what an interesting specimen…" the dragon, which apparently was a she, judging by the voice, said. "He looks just like you Alana."
"I know, right!? Ain't this exciting?!" Alana replied.
The dragoness hummed, which made my entire body to vibrate. "What is your name, young one?"
"D-David," I stuttered.
"David, what a lovely name. They call me Iris, the firstborn. Now tell me David, what an innocent he-human is doing in a place like this.
I tried to back away, only to feel Iris' claw on my back. "W-Well, I woke up a few hours ago looking like this-" I gestured to my horns, wings and tail. "-and then I met Alana."
"Hmm I see… Alana, why have you brought him here?" Iris faced Alana.
"Well, I couldn't simply leave him alone, now could I? And besides, he's an incubus, we can perhaps have him join our den."
"Absolutely not!" Shade interrupted. "Den mother, I urge you not listen to Alana. She's impulsive and reckless! We are already scraping for what little lust we can find! Adding another mouth to feed will just make things harder on us."
"Impulsive? Reckless? Why you little cludgie son of a-"
"Enough! The both of you!" Iris raised her voice just a tad, but the effect it had made me kind of glad I didn't have anything to eat yet, lest I'll be shitting myself.
Iris eyed Shade and Alana, daring them to say something, when none spoke she continued. "Family meeting. Now. Alana, please make sure David is comfortable and join us immediately."
Everyone promptly moved towards a tunnel on the other side of the cavern before they completely disappeared from view, leaving Alana and I alone.
"So… what is this family meeting?" I ask.
Alana sighed before she looked at me. "Family meetings only occur when something that affects all of us needs to be discussed, such as adding someone to the den. Usually you can't simply join a den. You must be born to it. The last time someone joined the den was I."
"But I don't want to join! I wanna go home!"
"You can't. You know about us now. If you are not accepted than Iris will be forced to kill you on the spot."
I sat down as I was simply too weak to stand at the moment. "Holy fuck… what have I gotten myself into."
I felt a hand press against my shoulder as Alana set next to me, her eyes shone with confidence I have never seen before.
"Don't worry Davy, I'm sure everything will turn out great. Everyone seems to like you, that's a good sign."
"Everyone?"
"Well, I admit that Shade is a bit more conservative than most, but once you get on his good side, he'll stand by you for better or worse. It might not seem like it but he actually saved my neck a few times, just give him time."
"That's assuming I'll survive today," I said.
Suddenly, I felt two strong hands grab my cheeks as something soft pressed against my lips. I could hear Alana hum as she pushed me to the ground, forcing her tongue into my mouth. Before I could even react she pushed herself off of me and stood up.
"Wh-What the hell was that for?!" I exclaimed as Alana walked away.
"Something to hope for," Alana replied as she, too, disappeared from sight, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
I gingerly touched my lips; I could still feel her taste on my tongue. Suddenly, I didn't feel that bad anymore. Sure, I was still pretty jarred with the fact that I could die in the next few minutes, but like Alana said, at least I have something to hope for.
I know that I should probably be sad by the fact that I will never see my friends or family again, but quite frankly, my previous life was pretty boring. And besides, I died back there, so there's really not much point lamenting over it.
There were a few things that really bothered me; one of them is my new identity. What does it mean to be an incubus? Will I start fucking every woman I encounter? I hope not, because as far as I'm aware of, Alana and I are the only humans in this world, which brings me to my next line of questions. Who is Alana? Where is she from? What's her story?
Those were only a few of the myriad of questions that floated in my mind, and I hope I could get them answered, even if it means becoming a sex demon.
While I was waiting for the others to determine my fate, I decided I might as well indulge myself in some of the various fruits and berries that dotted around the cavern. If I'm going to die again, I might as well die on a full stomach.
After a while of munching something finally occurred. Alana came back, she was no longer wearing her furs, but instead a piece of cloth that covered her breasts and a long loincloth. She approached me and tossed me something, which I promptly caught.
"Wear this and come with me," she said and then immediately turned around and started walking.
At first I was caught off guard by her sudden change of attitude but I quickly pulled myself together.
"So where are we going?" I asked while putting on the loincloth I was given. Sure, in case of a boner I won't be able to hide it, but it was better than nothing at the moment.
"To the inner sanctum. Your fate has been decided," Alana replied in a cold tone, which made me kind of worried.
"Is everything alright?" I asked. It was a stupid question, I know, but right now I needed the conversation otherwise I will lose my shit.
"Everything is as it should be."
I sighed. "I guess you won't tell me my fate, will you?"
Alana just shook her head.
The two of us reached another room, significantly smaller than the main cavern. It was completely barren except for a pedestal in the very middle, and on it a dagger. The others were standing in a circle around the pedestal, all facing me.
That's when I realized that their appearances completely changed. Each and every one of them had slitted, yellow eyes, black bat-like wings, two pairs of horns, and black tails with a heart-shaped tip. Even Galgador, Fleur, and Iris, who already have horns, had a few extra now.
Alana left me side to join the others.
"David," Iris started. "You stand before us, wishing to join our den. This kind of decision does not come lightly. Should you join us, you will be expected to abide our rules to the letter. This decision was brought into a vote, and judgment has been passed."
Iris moved from where she stood and took the dagger from the pedestal, approaching me.
My breathing started to quicken and my knees felt weak, but I remained where I am.
"David…"
Oh god, why me! I close my eyes shut, ready to feel the sharp pain of the dagger, followed by the cold embrace of death. I cringed when I felt something touch me on my head, but it was no dagger. I opened my eyes and saw Iris looking down on me. Her claw was gently petting my head.
Iris suddenly cracked a smile as she lowered her dagger. "…Welcome to the den, my child."
Suddenly I heard cheers behind Iris as the others rushed to congratulate me, minus Shade of course.
The rest of the night was filled with celebrating and partying, I've never met such weird people in my life, but I could only hope that things will go uphill. Because…

So I'm an official incubus now, pretty cool if I may say so myself. Not my first career choice but hey, beggars can't be choosers, am I right?
Anyway, after the welcoming party it was time to get serious. Iris appointed Alana to be my instructor (or mentor, as she likes to be referred to), and her job was to teach me everything I need to learn about being an incubus.
The first few days were dedicated to learn about the general history of the planet of Gaia, that's the name of this planet apparently. We didn't delve too deeply into the history, only a touch on each and every species on the planet. This world, unlike Earth, had many different sapient creatures, each with their own cultures and customs. Alana told me that as succubi and incubi, it is in our nature to infiltrate society and use our abilities to extract lust from our 'prey', for a lack of better term.
Basically, we had to go into cities and fuck everything, literally.
Today Alana would go over my abilities as an incubus, and how I should go about using them. I waited for her near the shade of an apple tree, where we usually have our lessons. After a while I saw Alana emerge from one of the holes on the ceiling of the cavern. Each hole was an entrance to a private room for each of the den members, but since I still don't know how to use my wings, and Iris hasn't carved mine yet, I was sleeping in the central chamber. It wasn't too bad really, the grass was soft and the cavern was always warm and cozy.
"Oy David, are ye dreaming or something?" Alana declared as she whacked me on the head with a scroll, she had several more in the other hand.
"Sorry mentor, I won't do it again," I said. Alana smiled and sat on the ground in front of me. I figured that calling her mentor every now and again will cool her off. "So what's on today's agenda?"
"Today we'll learn about our physical features," Alana explained as she unrolled one of the scrolls and showed it to me. It was an illustration of minotaur with the iconic horns, wings, and tail that all Succubi and Incubi share.
"Before we start let's talk about transformation, shall we?" Alana started. "All Succubi and Incubi can transform into any creature they desire. We use it to infiltrate cities and hide our horns, wings, tails, and eyes. Ye seem to be having trouble hiding hiding your features, but fret not. Once we'll go to the more practical lessons I'll teach ye all about utilizing yer abilities."
"Neat."
"I know right?! Now, let's start with the horns. There are two pairs of them as you can see, and both serve for different purposes. The smaller pair is used to communicate with other den members. Den members are linked through a special ritual which allows us to make contact with one another. Once you will be fully trained you will undergo a similar ritual. Is everything clear for now?"
I nodded. "So the smaller horns are like walkie-talkies basically."
"What's a walkie-talkie?" Alana asked, brows furrowed.
"You don't know what a walkie-talkie is?" I asked, looking even more confused.
"No," Alana answered. "but we are getting off topic. Now let's move to the longer horns, shall we? The longer horns release special pheromones into the air that makes seducing the other sex a lot easier. Incubi, Succubi and other emotionovores are the only creatures with natural resistance to these pheromones. In edition to that, we have enhanced hearing and sight, which make us especially effective at night."
I nodded once again, running a hand through my hair and feeling my two pairs of horns and my weird-ass ears. I also wondered if I had slitted eyes, which I probably do.
"The wings of succubi and incubi are our bread and butter, without them we are helpless. The wings are imbued with natural magic that bends space and time around them, giving us the ability to cover huge distances with minimal effort. Tragic past and dreadful future

A cold chill crept up my spine as mixed feelings of disdain, sadness, and hatred bubbled up inside me.
Seeing my confused expression over my reaction, Iris elaborated. "You can feel it, don't you? All these conflicting emotions inside you? This is normal, our kind and the changelings shared a long and unpleasant history. So much so, that it has become imprinted in our subconscious."
"What happened?" I asked, my tea completely forgotten.
Iris sighed as she stared at the flickering flames. "For you to understand, I must go back to times long forgotten. Far into the west, on the continent of Equiss, there lived an ancient tribe of people with the extraordinary power to turn emotions into pure energy, these people were our ancestors. They lived inside the borders of the flutterpony domain. For generations our ancestors lived peacefully alongside the flutterponies, until a new monarch came into power."
"I take it that this new ruler wasn't as cordial?"
Iris shook her head. "No, she was greedy, power hungry, and cruel. When she caught wind of our ancestor's powers, she demanded that they will give it to her. When our ancestors refused, she attacked. There was no way our ancestors could have won, but instead of running away, they fought back in order to protect their powers."
"What happened next?" I asked, though I believed I already knew the answer.
"They were lost. There were too many flutterponies. Our ancestors' leader knew that he could not prevent the flutterponies from taking away the power of his people, so he ordered his followers to flee while he stayed behind."
"Why? What did he do?"
"In order to minimize the damage he cursed the flutterponies and their land with his dying breath, turning the land into the badlands of Equestria and mutating the flutterponies to the insect-like creatures they are now today, the changelings.
"Homeless and with only a sliver of their powers, our ancestors fled into the continent to the east of Equiss, to here. This small group, no more than a few hundreds, became the succubi and incubi.
"But the tragedy does not end here. Without their leader, the tribe was dissolved. Different groups started sustaining themselves with lust energy, the only type of emotion we can feed upon. It was also because of these groups' loose morals that the incubi and succubi got their dubious reputation, forcing us into hiding."
"Why the tribe never selected a new leader?" I asked.
"The tribe was very superstitious and traditional. It was said that only the son or daughter of the previous leader can lead the tribe. The leader had a daughter once, but she disappeared, believed to be dead."
I simply sat there, taking in the information. I did not know that the succubi and incubi had such a tragic history. I mean, forced to abandon their homes and live in exile sounds horrific. And even if they do wish to return there's nothing left except for a desolate wasteland.

Iris turned to face me, a look of surprise on her face.

I looked down at the offered weapon with a bit of apprehension, not sure whether I want to accept such a gift.
Sensing my hesitation, Iris took my hand and placed the dagger in my palm. "Take this, my child, for your own safety. The world out there is cruel for our kind. That is also why I want you to start training with its use as of today."
"I-I don't understand," I said, still looking down at the dagger as if expecting it to come to life and stab me. "Alana told me we should avoid conflict whenever possible."
"It is better to be a warrior in a garden, rather than a gardener in a war. Don't you agree?" Iris replied back, looking at me with certain wisdom in her eyes.
She was right of course, but it didn't make me feel any better. The implications of what might come to pass did not look promising.
"David, look at me."
I did as I was told and looked Iris in the eyes. She stared back at me before smiling.
"I won't say that the road ahead will be an easy one, my child, but you will not have to walk it alone. You are now part of our den, our family. We are here for you."
I smiled weakly, a little comforted by Iris' words. I was still somewhat terrified about what might come next, but at least I won't be alone in this.
"Thank you Iris, for everything. You have shown me nothing but kindness in my brief time in this world."
Iris smiled brightly. "Think nothing of it, my child. We succubi and incubi must stick together. Now go, you still have a lesson with Alana to attend."
