Mare Hunters

Its a dark, cold, windy night. Nothing can be herd except the sharp breathing of a teenage unicorn, and rustling leaves underhoof. The mare seemed to be in a hurry to get somewhere. Unfortunately for that mare this is not the time or place to be. Every pony knows this is not the time to be outside. The breathing got faster as she was running out of energy. Thankfully for her there seems to be a small oak wood cabin about seventeen feet away. With a sigh of relief she quickly ran towards it, almost two feet in front of of the mare. Snap went the twigs under the ginormous monsters feet. The monster was barely see able due to how dark it was, the only thing that stood out was glows of yellow presumably the eyes and was that smoke? With a quick stop the mare came to a halt. She was so close to the cabin if only she could just get by this "thing". With a long look she stared, unmoved by the creature. With great courage the unicorn tried to run away from the monster. If she could only get to the settlement of Matripony and get some help from hunters. But before she even got three feet away the monster seemed to go in front of her. Startled she fell back on the flank, dirtying her pale brown coat. In great fear the mare stayed completely still like a statue.  Time passed almost feeling like a eternity until eventually the creature with great speed went back to the sky's and flew away. Waiting for a couple moments until the coast was clear. With great speed she rushed to the door opened it, then swing it back shut with a great and loud thud. After a couple moments of tension building, silence. The mare full of fear relaxed and slumped down by the door, as time went by the mare till she went to sleep. Abruptly she woke up to knocking on the door.

"Coming" the mare mumbled. She squirmed around for a bit until she finally woke up. With a grown she stood up and opened the door. With a grown the girl mumbled

"Yes?" With a quick response the mail stallion responds with.

"You miss Pixie?"

"Yes, what do you need?"'

"Umm. You got a package from Canterlot Monster Academy." The mare, Pixie lit up. She was as excited as can be, her horn even sparked a little, she grinned from ear to ear. Canterlot Monster Academy is one of the best monster academy's in all of Equestria. Pixies excitment was uncontrollable.

"Miss Pixie you OK?" The mail stallion asked. With great haste she levitated the box and quickly mumbled.

"Thank you!" She gave the stallion one bit and then slammed the door in his face. Once Pixie was inside, she slowly and carefully opened the little package. With her green aura she lifted a piece of to read it. The letter reads.

Dear Miss Pixie Shield.

We are happy to inform you that you have been accepted into Canterlot Monster Hunter Academy. You are going to be a group A student. Follow the instructions to get to Canterlot. Armor, Weapons, and books will be provided. You will be a duel blade class. You will be staying in the Alpha dorm with a C student named Luna Crest. Due to your astounding grade on the entry exam  we will be giving you one more exam when you arrive to place you in the right grade. If you do good on the test we give you. You could move from a rookie class hunter to a junior class hunter. Can't wait to welcome you.

Pixie stared at this letter that held the amazing news. She had been waiting for a long time for this. Ever since her parents started teaching there she was wanting to go so bad. She studied all day and all night.  Hoping she would get in. With all that hope and joy. Pixie bounced up to her room . With great stride up the oak wood stairs and through the bedroom door and with a thud, dropped on to the bed. With a quick remembering she sat up and said.

   "I should start packing I am leaving soon, or should I study?" She pondered that for a couple minutes until she eventually decided to start packing. A little while passes until it's about sunset. The mare was exhausted after today.

"Maybe I could read a bit before I hit the hay,"  so of course the mare does. She picks up the book Monsters, Magic, and More. She sat there and read the whole 200 page book in a hour. After she was done it was almost twilight. Pixie lays down in her bed and slowly drifts to sleep. Sunset came, Pixie stirred unwanted to wake up. Then she realized that she needed to wake up for her to start her journey to the academy. After a bit of mumbles and falling out of bed. She got up styled her dark brown mane, put on her saddle bag, and got the rest of her bags ready to go. With a deep breath Pixie prepares to leave. Since its day most of the monsters in the area are sleeping in there dens. With great courage Pixie trots towards Matripony. Matripony is a small settlement they only just built the cab station. Since trains weren't going to be invented for three more years the ponies had to ride horse drawn carriages. The town also only has a house or three, and a kitchen that's all. The ground is muddy for some reason even thought it hasn't rained. The mare trots through the mud. For some reason no pony was out except for the four stallions pulling the carriage.

Pixie trots towards the stallion pulled carriage. She starts digging in her green saddle bag looking for bits. Unfortunately the school needs you to provide your self transportation.

"One, two, three, four, and.... Five" Pixie counted bits in magical grasp.  This should be enough she thought to herself. She trotted up to the entering platform and said.

"Canterlot please?" The stallions grumbled. "Six bits please,"Six? I only have five! She paused and responded with.

" But all I have is five, can you cut thy a break?" The stallions turned and gave her a no nonsense look.

"Please?" Pixie gave them the puppy look. The stallions were having none of it. Pixie levitated her luggage and started going through it. Finally she pulled out a expensive looking gem.

"Will this do?" Pixie asked the stallions, the stallions paused stared at the gem and replied.

"Ok we'll take it," Pixie neglectfully puts the gem in the pouch next to the second stallion. And with that Pixie starts her journey to Canterlot. Half a hour passes it's almost noon. Till finally they get through where the ponies were. They approach a yellow large gate that was the entrance to Canterlot. There was a pony in a stand right next to the gate quickly Pixie got out of the cart and on the road next to the stand.

"Why thank you gentlemen" complimented the mare as she starts to walk towards the stand. With that the stallions drive of back  to Matripony. Leaving Pixie to what ever comes next.
