Khronicles: Magic Hoarders
Chapter One: Nine years - C.S
Previous ChapterLets see, that is scrap, this is scrap. Gold plated items always worth something. Nothing but junk recently, I wonder how many other scavengers there are now. What was that? Oh fuck, its trotters. Like zombies but with the magic from the portal still lingering, you tend to form into a misshapen pony of sorts. Guess it wasn't a myth after all. Anyways, I panicked and ran down the corridor, it was a dead end but there was a window and now that window is broken with me falling out the other end. I rolled once I made contact with the ground and got behind cover. I pulled my silver engraved Uzi and waited for them to come out. These modifications help out, reducing the recoil and all but still a ammo hog.
A swarm of heads started walking and I readied my aim. I waited for clearer shots and then, a magazine of 20 later, five out of the eight were dead. Reloaded and now, all dead. I put it away and snuck out of the deserted building. Let's just get back to safety before anything happens.
Out of breath, I started inhaling as much air as I could and took of my gas mask. I shadowy figure loomed over me while I was panting.
"Not looking so hot, are you?" He asked sarcastically. I hate him when he is like that, its not good for this situation.
"Try jumping out of a window and taking out trotters, then walking back with a bag full of loot Nilla," I said with a glare in his direction. He is such a jerk sometimes, but that's what you get for living with your twin for nearly nine years without your parents. "Shhhh. Enforcers are coming our way, stay quiet," I said, looking more alert and full of energy then a second ago.
Five troops in armor come marching down, this is going to get messy. Unload normal bullets and put in some armor piercing, time to go. I grabbed one before any notice and took him behind cover. He looks like the one that one person wants. Good, a bounty reward will come in handy too.
"Shhhh. Stay down and we won't shoot you," I said, covering his mouth. I looked at me wide eyed but nodded. I took aim and shot the four down with no trouble. Sneak attack is successful with armor piercing bullets. "What's your name lad?" I asked the enforcer while I looked around for ammo and anything valuable.
"Lemon Drop," He said, huh didn't think he'll be the talkative. I found a hilt of something. I picked it up and pressed a button then a blade came out and sliced the air in front of me. "Put that down!" He shouted at me.
"I was told to bring you, nothing about bringing you in crippled," I joked. It was a really bad joke, but why wasn't he shooting me yet? Strange indeed. I pressed the buttons again and the blade retracted back into the hilt. "Nilla, you think he could be a fine third wheel?" I asked my brother. He just glared at him, expecting something.
"If you can trust him, I guess I can too," He said, looking for a weapon. He takes forever and never finds one he likes.
"Take this Crunch, I think it fits you well," I said, tossing him a shotgun. He caught it and looked it over. He just nodded and put it away in a holster. "Now, Lemon Drop, you'll be coming with us for awhile and if you want to stay with us then you can," I said to him. Trusting a enforcer is a big move but it might be worth the Intel he has on all the bases and magic that happens here. He just got up and dusted himself off. He pulled out his revolver and check his ammo count. He must have enough if they given that to him.
"I thought you would get me something," A mare like voice said from behind. We turned and saw a mare walking out with her sniper concealed. "You still haven't gotten me anything Crunchy," Milkshake said with a dissatisfied shake of her head. He has it hard to impress her. Let's hope she doesn't shoot him in the back soon. "What's this about a new third wheel?"
"Have a lighter," He said, pulling a diamond encrusted lighter and tossing it to her, dodging the question completely. "I think it completes your collection," Bad pick up line, Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad! Brother may have the wits but not the skills to pick a girl up.
"So... you're going to pick the corpse of that school yet? I heard there is lots of items there," Lemon Drop said, what school... oh Canterlot High.
"That was our hometown soo... not anytime soon. Trying to get us killed by the magic?" I asked sarcastically. He took it as some sort of offense and made a joking pose of it. So easy to become friends with or something? I won't understand him anytime soon, we don't have time too understand either. We should get moving back to the settlement for who ever wants this guy. This sword is sweet though.
Small shack which is called settlement, I know the name is dumb but I didn't name it. We walked in and saw the lady waiting, we gestured Lemon to walk in and he did. Later he came out and told me to go in.
"Your pay is ready," She said, dropping a bag of coins on the table. I picked them up and turned around to leave before hearing a cock of a shotgun. I did the only sensible thing which for me is grabbing the blade, slicing the gun in half and pointing the tip to her throat.
"You're a enforcer, aren't you?" I asked, she just nodded feeling no threat with the blade. I dug the blade in deeper and she stopped breathing. Coin in pocket and my Uzi in my left hand, blade in right hand I ran out and saw about 15 or so enforcers. Like that a flash of light went off and I ducked, brother loves his gadgets, his portable cover is nice. Three shots rang in the distance and four targets went down, two birds with one stone... bad joke. I charged the nearest one, slicing through his armor and cutting deep into his chest. Taking aim at the other three, blazing them down with my Uzi, but the oddest thing was that someone was at my back. I turn to see that Lemon Drop decided to go back to back with me, using his revolver. Incredible aim and military training, useful partner to have in this world. When one of them got too close, I sliced them and they squirted blood at us. Later we were all covered in blood (Besides Milkshake) and most likely needed to take a shower.
"She won't touch me for a week at least," Nilla said, trying to brush the blood off of him.
"You got a shotgun, you'll be doing much more messier things with that," I remarked. I threw a smirk in my direction and started to walk away.
"Are you guys always this psychotic?" Lemon asked sarcastically. He must be the joking type but eh, something that can keep our moods up is something good.
"You should've seen us when we were 12, second year in this 'heaven' but we honestly were the deadliest group of children once she found her sniper," I said, pointing to Milkshake who just hugged her sniper close to her. "If you were asking where I learned to used this sword... that's another story, before this madness happen I used to fence... my dad taught me while my brother was taught how to cook," I explained, looking at my brother who was still soaked in blood.
"Looks like you had a fine family, you being the crazy one while your brother is the calm, sensitive one," Lemon replied. At least someone normal here, so far its traitorous backstabbers we've met so far. Why do they want two scavengers that have been in the ruins of... oh. I must've grabbed something magical then because there is no way we are important. I dug through my bags looking for what it was before pulling out some sort of battery. "Is that what I think that is?"
"Yup, it is," I said, looking down at one of many shards.
