Inside her home in Ponyvile, Sunset is in the kitchen with Spike who is giggling over a flawless fire ruby that’s in the shape of a heart. Sunset came back to Ponyvile to drop off her gift she got for Spike’s birthday, and stayed for the day to get some paperwork done before she goes back to Canterlot where her family are preparing for her birthday. Rarity is still working on her dress for her birthday, which she told Rarity to either make her a dress that she wants or she'll just find someone who will.

Sunset is stirring a large pot of fish stew for herself and Spike, as they’re the only ones in the house that regularly eat meat. With the exception of eggs anyways seeing how eggs are in a lot of bake goods that the others eat. The smell of it cooking fills the room, making everyone hungry to say the least.

"Mmmmmmm," Spike says sniffing the air. "This smells amazing. What’s in it?"

“Catfish, onions, mushrooms, garlic, eggs, green peas, and this leg of ham,” Sunset said as she used the ladle she’s stirring the stew with to lift the large ham bone that has meat on it out. “All for you.”

“Really?” Spike ask staring at the piece of meat.

“Twilight and her family haven’t been feeding you right. You’re a dragon and not a plant eating dragon, you need meat in your diet,” Sunset said. She then scooped some stew into a bowl for Spike before placing the ham on the bowl.

Spike takes the bowl and digs his muzzle into the bowl of stew. He moans happily when he tastes the deliciousness of the stew.

“That reminds me,” Twilight said walking out from the living room. Her horn glows blue, and she produces a bag made of woven leather material. Inside the bag are several bags of groceries.

“What’s all this?” Sunset asks curiously.

“I went shopping while I was out,” Twilight said.

“Got Spike a birthday gift?” Sunset ask.

“Another book?” Spike ask biting down on the ham bone and breaking it open to get to the marrow inside.

“Yyyyes,” Twilight smiled nervously as she shows him another book like all the other gifts she has ever given him.

“Twilight you should just stop, unless it comic books. You don’t know what he likes do you, you’re like that person who kept on giving the same itchy sweater that no one ever wears but once and that’s it,” Sunset said.

“But I wanted to give him something special!” Twilight said holding the book which Sunset grabs.

“You gave him a book last year. Why would he want another one and it’s not like he likes the same books you like. Not to mention it’s about magic studies?” Sunset ask as she looks over the book.

“Yeah, Twilight you keep giving me books that you like,” Spike said.

“What did you get him?” Twilight ask Sunset.

“New game console, Magicbox,” Sunset said causing Spike to gasp in delight.

“Really!” Spike ask.

“Look in your room,” Sunset said causing Spike to disappear as he runs to his room.

Twilight smiled as she watched him go.

“I guess he will be happy with it. How much are those things anyways?” Twilight asked.

“Gift from the company that makes the arcade games,” Sunset said who game the idea to the arcade company to make game consoles for homes. It was a huge hit with the kids, and Sunset got a cut of each sale.

“Oh well, I hope he likes it,” Twilight said.

“He will, the game that came with it is the pony version of one of the human game, Super Mario Bros,” Sunset said.

“Oh...” Twilight says.

“Why are you so nervous about it?” Sunset ask.

“No reason,” Twilight said.

“You shouldn't have gotten him the same gift, again,” Sunset said.

“Well, it's not like he plays video games very often, he doesn't even have a TV, and I never saw him play one in the arcade,” Twilight said.

“That’s because you use him to do all the work, while you studied,” Sunset said making Twilight shrink at the remark. (1)

“I….,” Twilight said thinking about it.

“And not feeding him what he needs to grow, he’s a meat eater and it’s the reason why his growth is stunted and he’s smaller than he should be if he was eating a good diet. I been fixing him by feeding him meat, which you being a sissy can’t and won’t feed him. He really needs to learn how to be a dragon. All you taught him was being your unpaid servant who does all the chores and refuse to feed him what he needs to grow. Which is why I keep a fridge full of meat for him,” Sunset said.

“Well… besides eggs we don’t eat meat,” Twilight said.

“I know but seeing how you being around a dragon for years and have no idea what it means to be a dragon or their culture. I’m taking over his care, as unlike you, I can handle meat,” Sunset said.

“You are still part human and an omnivore,” Twilight said having spent lots of time learning about human culture from Sunset.

“That and I had to survive on my own in the human world with only what I brought with me. I couldn’t be picky in what I ate. I either eat meat or I starve,” Sunset said. (2)

Author's Note

1 - The show doesn’t treat Spike nice, Twilight has Spike doing all the cleaning and other stuff that she won’t do because she wants to study. And that once she got her castle, Twilight never hires any staff to help Spike who is the only one who cleans it.

2 - I really wish the show would had explain how Sunset managed to survive on her own in the human world.
