Through The Storm
First Impressions
Previous ChapterBlackness. . . its the only thing that fills your vision at the moment. You feel weightless, as you can feel nothing beneath you feet. There is no more wind, no more lightning, no more rain, nothing. All you see is back. You move you hand in front of your face, to see if you can still move and see. luckily, you see your hand in front of your face, but this raises another question, where are you? 'Is this what its like to be dead?' you ask to yourself. its silent, perfectly silent, you can't even hear your own breath. Wait. . . You take an experimental breath, but you seem to not be able o inhale. You struggle at the realization that you can't breath, fear etching itself into your mind yet again. after a few minutes of complete struggling and panicking, you realize you aren't suffocating. It was an odd experience of not breathing and not suffocating, yet, it was not totally unpleasant. you shake your head to be rid of the pointless thoughts in your head, and try to focus and the problem at hand, where you are. you try to look around, but it is the same sight everywhere, darkness, and you can't even tell if you are turning around do to the fact you are floating.
A couple hours pass, and the silence is getting to your head. You don't even know if you are alive, and yet here you are, stuck in some sort of oblivion, lost beyond measure. 'What is happening?' 'why am I here?' 'where is here?' all these questions plus many more are echoing in your head, and its near maddening. You were starting to feel an array of emotions. You felt sad, knowing that you may possibly never see your friends or family again. Anger and frustration, being that of all the people in the world, you had to b the one in this situation. And blatant fear of not knowing what is going to happen next.
More time has passed, you were an emotional train wreck, you have been crying, yelling (not really, no air meant no sound, but you were thinking some very mean thoughts), and praying to everything that you com out safe from whatever hellish experience this is. Its amazing the things you had taken for granted, now that you are completely alone, with nothing to interact with. you never thought such isolation would be so soul breaking.
More time passes, and you are going ballistic, you need to see or hear something, anything, and soon. The quiet is starting to scar your soul. But then, you see it, the little twinkle of a small star. The sight brings utter happiness to your heart, and it brightened your mood substantially. When you have seemingly lost everything, it truly is the little things that matter. You named the star 'Hope', as it was the only way you can truly describe the feeling this star gave you. soon enough though, however, more twinkles start to illuminate the empty darkness that surrounded you. and after a while, you can see thousands of them light the sky. It truly was an amazing sight to behold.
as time went on , you just watched the lights dance across the sky. you actually notice some stars drifting across the sky, and very soon, you see the very brightest ones form a circle right in front of you. The ring starts to spin, the stars leaving little trails of light behind them. they slowly start to rotate faster and faster, and soon it is a glowing blue ring. suddenly, a bright light flashes from the middle of the ring, blurring your vision temporarily. Once you regain your vision, you look to the stars, and see that a picture of a tree line is where the spinning stars once were. The picture is out of reach, and you struggle to get closer. Ever so slowly, you reach the beautiful image of nature, and you can now see that the branches and grass are moving to a breeze, yet you feel no wind.
You reach out with caution, curious of what the strange anomaly in front of you is. Your hand is right in front of the depiction of the tree line. Slowly, you brush you fingers past edge, and nothing seems to happen. Now you put your entire hand into the portrayal of the forest, you feel the breeze hit your hand, and quickly pull back. After taking a second to calm down from t]feeling the sensation of wind after so long of nothingness, you put your entire forearm in, still feeling he light breeze. You decide to poke your head through, and instantly, you nostrils are bombarded with the scent of grass, flowers, fresh air, and the beautiful sight of the full moon in the sky. You inhale deeply, having also gone so long without breathing, and it is heaven. You feel alive for the first time sine this entire ordeal started. You push/pull yourself the rest of the way through, taking in the sweet, sweet embrace of gravity and the ground.
After your rather intimate reuniting with the ground, you stand up, legs wobbly from disuse. you take note of your surroundings, on one side of you, there is an entrance to a forest, and to the other side is a large grassy field that stretches as far as the eyes can see (exaggerating). But what really catches your eyes, is large mountain. Not only is the mountain large and very oddly shaped, but there is a HUGE FREAKING PALACE AT THE SIDE OF IT!! The sight of it makes your jaw drop, as the danger of creating such a great structure is phenomenal. It takes your mind a couple minutes to fully comprehend such an impossible structure before you make the choice to start heading towards it. Maybe you can get some questions answered.
As you reach the base of the mountain, you realize I looks a lot taller than you originally thought. Right as you begin to start the trek up the mountain, you notice train tracks spiraling up the mountain. Thinking it would be much easier to just follow the tracks instead of climbing, you follow the tacks. Obviously. after about 2 hours of hiking along side the track, you hear something, it is rhythmic, and clanking. you turn around to see a bright set of lights heading your direction. you step to the side into a grassy patch beside the train tracks as you wait for the train to pass by. The train very soon catches up and rushes pass you. You smile and wave to the train as it passes, though it was moving too fast for you to see inside of it. You could have sworn you heard a scream though. 'What ever' you think to your self, 'just in my head'.
You get to the large city that you saw a while ago, and you carefully step on/in to it. You are still slightly skeptical to the idea of it being on a mountain, as you have a slight concern that the city will fall when you step onto it. But that doesn't happen, luckily. the sun is quickly rising above the horizon at this point, and you are blessed with the beautiful sight of oranges an yellows painted into the sky with elegance never seen by your eyes before. It brings a small tear to your eye.
You set off to look for information and help, walking down the streets to the large palace you see in the distance. After even more walking, you hear a very deep voice call behind you.
"Halt beast!!"
You turn around to see the offender of such a rude comment, only to face the business ends of three spears, all being help by. . . you wanna think horses, but they are too small, and they are too buff to be normal ponies. You just settle on calling them equines for now.
"What the hel--" you don't even get to finish your sentence before you get tackled by one of them, and get your ankles and wrists shackled by the other two.
"Stop resisting and we will not be forced to use force." one of them tell you. You look at them little closer, they are all wearing a very regal looking set of armor that looks gold plated, there are 2 white ones, and one brown one, all of them have horns. 'UNICORNS!?!' you internally scream.
They all but drag you to a roofed carriage that looks reinforced, and has no windows or openings aside from a door. you see two of the unicorns strap themselves to the front of the car, and the other one shoves you inside it. You might have thought the situation a little comical if not for the clear trouble you seemed to be in. Once inside, the unicorn makes quick work of strapping a cloth over you mouth and blindfolding you. You feel the carriage start to move, and you can still hear one of the unicorns in the carriage with you, breathing rather heavily.
After a very uncomfortable ride, you are shoved out of the carriage and led to an unknown location. After being led down a long set of stair, you start to smell a very musky and dank odor that stings your nostrils, and your mouth is currently bound. You hear a lock tumbler get unlocked, and a door creak open with a metallic scraping sound. You get shoved forward, and land on your face. You get unshackled and unblindfolded.
"WHAT THE HELL!?! WHY AM I BEING DETINED!?!" You yell at them.
"We were told sightings of a mysterious, unknown creature headed towards canterlot, and were ordered to detain it if it should enter city boundaries." one of them answer in a monotone voice. "Now be quiet before we charge you with resisting arrest." a different one growls at you.
You decide to shut up, not wanting anymore trouble than what has found you.
After what feels like forever but is probably more like a half hour, you hear a door open, followed by the clip-clop of hooves. You notice the guards by your cell instantly perk up, standing on edge, looking as professional as possible.
Soon, there is a night blue/black unicorn in front of your cell, and her mane looks like the night sky, flowing in an inexistent breeze. You find it rather beautiful in all honesty.
"guards, unlock the cell." she says in a voice that just oozes royalty and authority.
"Yes princess Luna." a guard says, as he rushes to unlock the cell. After unlocking he cell, you find your self in a large room, filled with a giant, round, table that is surrounded by large, very fancy chairs.
"H-How did you d-do that?" you squeak out, completely in shock.
"Magic." she replies simply.
The answer irks you, but you feel that being rude or pushy to the equine would be a bad idea. You decide to inspect her a little more, and you notice two more features, she has a crescent moon on her flank, and she had wings, the latter of the two making it very confusing about what she really is. A pegacorn? Unisus?
"So," she starts, as well as sit down on a chair, signaling you to tae a seat as well. "Why don't we start this conversation by telling me what you are exactly."
"I-I'm a human." you tell her, still intimidated by her stature and your current position of helplessness. "M-mind I ask what you are?"
"We are princess Luna, Princess of The Night, and on of the two alicorn rulers of Equestria." She replies, showing much pride in her answer. "Now, tell us where you hail from, human."
