Dreams of Discord
The First Dream

It was not unusual for Fluttershy to have regular tea times with the Lord of Chaos, Discord. It was also not unusual for the two to laugh & talk together, as they each consider the other to be a very good friend. Still, isn't it funny, or perhaps remarkable even, that the most usual of unusual circumstances can become absolutely, and without a doubt, unusual. Such a thing happened on a Tuesday, when Discord and Fluttershy were having tea together at Fluttershy's cottage; as it was difficult to have tea at Discord's home in the Realm of Chaos.
"Then, I told them that standing in the middle of a glass of lemonade upside down is quite routine for me. You should have seen the way their eyes bulged right out of their heads." Discord said, finishing his story.
Fluttershy giggled. " Oh Discord, your stories are always funny."
"Thank you, Fluttershy." Discord sipped at his tea. "At least one pony around here appreciates me." He mumbled, partially to himself.
"Oh, but it isn't just me who likes your stories, Discord. I've told everyone your stories here in Ponyville, and they just love them."
"Well, that's because you are telling them. Not me. Everyone likes you, my dear Fluttershy." Discord said.
Fluttershy blushed at the compliment. "Thank you, Discord."
"Well, I must be off." Discord stuck in his teacup in his mouth and swallowed it whole.
"Same time next week?" Fluttershy asked with a smile.
"As always." Discord responded.
Fluttershy got up to gather the tea tray, but accidentally knocked the table. Her teacup was about to shatter on the floor, and both she and Discord rushed to catch it. They were both stunned when their lips accidentally met.
Fluttershy gasped and pulled away quickly, blushing severely. "I-I'm so sorry, Discord. I didn't mean to kiss you." She stammered.
The two stared at each other for a moment, eyes unblinking and unwavering. As though they had just seen each other for the first time and each were looking at a stranger. Discord was the first to snap out of the trance, and he shrugged his shoulders.
"It was no problem, Fluttershy. A simple accident, that's all." Discord said, nonchalantly.
Fluttershy lowered her head, still recovering from her embarrassment. "Yes, an accident."
Nothing more was said and Discord left the cottage. Fluttershy picked the teacup off the floor and carried the tray to a counter top. Her lips were still tingling from the kiss, in fact they were almost warm. Was this what it was like to be kissed? In truth, this was Fluttershy's first one. She knew it would happen eventually, but never imagined in a hundred years that it would come from Discord, the embodiment of chaos. Still, she didn't feel surprised by the event. In fact, she was completely numb. It was as if the kiss had drained her emotions and left her a blank slate.
Fluttershy squealed when she felt someone tap her back hoof; she looked down to see Angel Bunny, who had his arms folded and was tapping his foot impatiently.
"Yes, Angel?" Fluttershy said.
Angel quickly pointed to his puckered lips, and then continued tapping his foot.
"Oh, you saw that?" Fluttershy asked, and Angel nodded rapidly. "It was nothing really. Discord himself said it was an accident."
Angel raised an eyebrow, as if to question the sincerity of Fluttershy's explanation.
"Of course it was an accident! I would never kiss Discord. We're friends, nothing more." Fluttershy insisted.
Angel gave Fluttershy another look, but Fluttershy ignored him and went upstairs to bed. In the morning, she thought, this whole thing would be forgotten and she could get on with her life.
The doors to the chapel opened, and Fluttershy took in her surroundings as she walked down the aisle. Seat after seat was filled with family and friends, even Princess Celestia and Princess Luna took time from their hectic schedules to attend the wedding. In front of her, were her flower fillies: Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Bell who were happily prancing down the aisle, as if the excitement from being flower fillies was all new to them. At the very end of the aisle, she saw her five best friends; Twilight, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash all dressed in identical pink dresses with big grins across their faces. This was probably because they were just as happy as she was. She also saw the back of her groom, his tall form dressed in a suit of all sorts of abstract patterns. A little loud for Fluttershy's taste, but she didn't care one bit. She was in love and that was all that mattered.
Finally, the bride reached the end of the aisle and looked into the face of her groom, her Discord, who was smiling eagerly. He bent down to her level and got close to her ear.
"I love you, Fluttershy." Discord whispered.
Fluttershy screamed and woke up in a cold sweat. Angel, who usually slept at the foot of her bed, popped his head up and gave her a concerned look.
"I'm all right, Angel. It was just a bad dream." Fluttershy said quietly, and Angel drifted back to sleep.
Fluttershy had lied; it wasn't a bad dream. In fact, it was one of the most pleasant dreams she had in a long while. That's what upset her, why would she find marrying Discord pleasant? He was a friend. Just a friend. That kiss surely had nothing to do with it, because it meant nothing to him and especially not to her. No, this dream was absolute nonsense and she would never have it again. Or, that's what she hoped anyway.
