Three:
Becoming the spirit of vengeance.
The garden that Celestia was in was full of all sorts of potted plants and many more shrubs of various size and shape. Celestia was standing next to one of the many shrubs examining the shrub when Midnight Sparkle walked into the garden. She looked around and saw the young Princess who was about to be a big sister any day now. Walking up to her in the garden she noticed that the princess hadn’t actually noticed her walk into the large room. Looking around Midnight saw all the splendor that somepony might take in if they were there with her. The ground was a beautiful jade grass and the walls seemed to stretch for miles even though they were only forty feet tall. There were majestic rivers and small flowing waterfalls all of which were hoofed carved out of sapphire and rubies. The ceiling was a open edifice that was clearly built to let the fullest light of the sun and rain into the garden. While looking around Midnight failed to notice herself that the Princess was now looking right at her.
“UH excuse me but, uhmmm who are you? And why are you in the royal garden?” The young filly asked in a nervous tone.
Hearing the tone in the Princess’s voice Midnight quickly turned her attention to Celestia and bowed deeply to her. Her horn was actually touching the floor of the garden as she bowed to her Princess. This made the Princess giggle with a bit a delight yet she still wanted to know who this beautiful pony was. She slowly trotted up to her and looked this pony that was still kneeling ever so deeply to her up and down before saying to her.
“You may rise now uh, if you want to that is?” Celestia said with a slight smirk to her voice.
Midnight did as she was commanded and rose from her kneeling position looking at the princess directly in the eyes. Her blue eyes were cold as ice! She didn’t smile at the little filly. Something that made Celestia wonder as to what happened to her cause her not to smile. Looking around the garden Celestia saw off to her left a small blue flower. Using her magic she picked it up then floated it to Midnight who looked at it then at her then back at the flower before saying to Celestia.
“What’s this for your majesty?” Bowing again at receiving the gift.
The Princess just giggled and trotted closer to Midnight who at this point was not sure what to do about this gift or about the young filly that had given it to her. Portal Call clearly dictated that she should at the very least be grateful for the gift. Yet she was not sure if she should actually accept the gift itself. The flower was a small rose that had blue petals and a pink stim. These sort of flowers were all over Equestria and the ones in the royal garden were the most majestic of all of them found throughout the land. Not wanting to be rude to the royal heir to the throne Midnight again bowed and thanked the young filly for the gift. As she was turning to leave she heard the Princess ask.
“Hey! Wait a minute...you have not given me your name or why you are in the castle”
Asked the Princess in more of a squealed voice rather than that of an actual princess about to rule an entire kingdom. Midnight turned back around and stared coldly at her before saying to Celestia sternly.
“You should first introduce yourself before you make such a demand your highness. You have already asked me this and I did not answer you because of your rude behavior.”
Midnight said this all the while glaring at the young filly who was now visibly shaken from the statement that Midnight just made to her. If there was one thing that could get under Midnights furr more than being invited to state dinners when battles needed to be won it was none less than rude behavior.
Regaining some of her composure. The young Princess said to Midnight ever slightly shaking at her hoofs in a voice more of a frightened child. And one that was so very less of one that was indeed a ruler of a great land. The little filly stammered on her words.
“I am….Princess…. Celestia heir….. to the throne of…. Equestria and …..I fully bid you welcome to my…... uh….. our kingdom traveler.” The young filly said as she knelt down and fully bowed to Midnight.
Midnight was speechless at just how well this young Princess actually conducted herself after being talked to in such a harsh manner by her. Even though the young filly did stammer on her words Midnight was still speechless. She half smiled and trotted over to Celestia and then placed a gentle hoof onto her shoulders and spoke even more gently to her.
“My name little Princess is Midnight Sparkle and I bid you ‘Thank you’ for welcoming me to this kingdom.”
Celestia's eyes shot wide with pure excitement upon hearing who it was that was actually in the royal garden with her. She looked up at Midnight’s eyes clearly giving away all the excitement that a young child would have on Christmas morning. She beamed a smile that even her mother “Queen Night” would be proud of to Midnight Sparkle. She thought to herself as she looked at Midnight.
“This was no ordinary pony! Nor was she just any unicorn by any means of the word. NO! This was Midnight Sparkle, dragon chaser, evil hunter, magic sword wielder, and orc war hero.” She thought all while still staring at Midnight.
She was all this and far more. All of this wrapped into one single purple furred pony and little Celestia knew it.
Tales of Midnight's exploits had reached far and wide.
There were tales of how she defeated “The orc general bad horn.” with a single chop of her sword.
There were still far greater tales of her heroism during “The battle of lycan bridge.” For instance thought Princess Celestia.
Where it was said she single hoofly saved “Six hundred ponies from a lycan attack.” All while eating a sandwich and still being able to use her sword.
Then there where the tales of her climbing “Mount Griffin” to stop an attack on the kingdom. That was caused when “The Griffin king Guto.” Tried to claim all the lands of Equestria for himself.
“It was said that Midnight herself had used her sword to….”
“wait her sword! Does she actually have it with her?” Thought the princess as she continued to stare at Midnight Sparkle.
Looking down to her left side she saw that it was indeed there, resting in its sheath was HER sword! The very sword that was used to slay the dragon king and beat back the armies of Tur’ok. During the battle of Mount Ell. The young Princess was so excited to see Midnight was indeed with her sword that she completely lost her composer and squealed out a very loud.
“YES!”
This caused Midnight Sparkle to raise an eyebrow at the young Princess. That was now jumping up and down like a little school filly about to perform their favorite magic during class. Celestia noticed the reaction of her guest in the Royal Garden and immediately stopped acting so filly like. Once she had actually calmed down enough for Midnight to ask her what was the reason for her excitement. Midnight was how ever not expecting the answer she got though. Princess Celestia grinned from ear to ear as she stuck out a hoof pointing to Midnights sword and very proudly proclaimed out loud.
“YOU HAVE IT, YOU HAVE IT!”
Midnight just looked to where the young princess was pointing. Seeing that she was pointing to her sword she looked back at the princess with the MOST stern look that Celestia had ever gotten in her entire life. The look that Midnight gave the young princess instantly caused her to turn more white than freshly fallen snow. Fully glaring at the young Princess Midnight said to her so sternly that Celestia actually starting shaking from the very tone in Midnight’s voice.
“Just what do you find so enticing about my sword? Have you actually ever used one or even killed anything with a sword before?” Midnight barked at Princess Celestia while the little filly was shaking in her hoofs at the anger and scorn being spewed her way from Midnight’s tone of voice.
Midnight seeing as to how frightened this little filly was of her. Actually started to enjoy causing the little princess to become even more afraid of her. To cause her to climax in total fear Midnight used her magic and unsheathed her sword. Pointing the sharp blade right at Celestia’s throat. Celestia almost fainted when she saw the blade up against her throat. Shaking even more she just barely squeaked out her words to Midnight.
“I...I...am sorry”
“What was that little one I didn’t quite catch that?” Midnight said with anger in her voice.
“I heard of….stories of you using this...sword and….I thought it was a….weapon to….be admired.” Celestia said now fully starting to cry.
Seeing that the young Princess was crying and having gotten what she wanted from her she put her sword away. Then stepped back from the princess and said softly to her.
“Listen and listen good little one.” Midnight said trying to calm the crying child down but completely failing at this.
“This is a weapon! It is not something to be admired. or thought of as something that is nice to have. In my magical care this weapon can either be used for good or pure evil. As such it is not a toy! I am not sorry that you don’t understand that. I am however sorry that you are crying. So therefore I will if you like teach you how to use such items as this sword. How ever in return for my teaching you, you need to fully understand that this is like I said a weapon not a toy do you understand?” Midnight spoke even more harshly than before causing the young Princess to get even more upset.
Neither of the two of them noticed that the king was now entering the garden and that he had fully heard every word that Midnight Sparkle had said. He gently trotted up to Midnight and with a loud clearly of his throat caused her to actually jump back in shock.
“AHEM!”
Seeing the the king was indeed upset with her Midnight knelt down and didn’t move until the king had walked past her. Gently picking up his daughter with his magic he rocked the crying filly back and forth until she calmed down. Glaring at Midnight Sparkle the king very abruptly demanded to know what actually caused her to pull her sword on his daughter. Such an act like this could actually cause her to be banished from the kingdom for ever he prayed to himself that it wouldn’t come to that. Midnight searched for her words she knew she was going to have to play this one very close to the hoof if she wanted to get what she came here for. Bowing so low to the ground that her stomach and her horn were touching the floor of the garden. She said as calmly and as politely as she could to the king.
“I am sorry your majesty I never meant to…..” Midnight was fully cut off in mid sentences as the king bellowed to her.
“WHAT IN THE NAME OF TAURUS ARE DOING PULLING YOUR SWORD ON MY DAUGHTER” Bellowed the king in such a abrupt angry voice that it caused Midnight to actually squint her eyes closed in fright.
It took a awful lot to scare this pony but, the way the king just spoke to her was more than enough to put fear into her. She knew she would have to play this one very close to the hoof if she wanted to get what she actually came to Canterlot Castle for.
“Your majesty I very humbly beg you for another chance to proof myself to you as your loyal servant. We as you know are in a state of what might become war. And for a few seconds there I lost my temper with your daughter. I swear to you now and here that I never meant to cause her to cry. I only wanted to teach the young princess that weapons of war should not at all be admired. They should be used yes! But never admired. If I in any way caused your highness’s little one to become so frightened of me that she can not forgive me.Then I ask now to be banished forever never to return.” Midnight said as she knelt before the king.
Looking at his daughter, who now was calm and collected and not the screaming crying Filly that she was before the king so abruptly yelled at Midnight asked Celestia softly.
“Well little one what do you think should we banish her or let her stay?” The king said with a soft smile gently nudging his daughter's cheek as he hugged her.
Celestia looked at Midnight still embracing her father's hug then said softly to him.
“Yes let her stay, It won’t do us any good to banish a hero like her and besides if you banish her how am I supposed to learn from her all about magic? Celestia said as she wiped her final tears away looking at Midnight fully.
The king sighed heavily saying to his daughter while he also looked at Midnight Sparkle.
“I don’t want you to learn the type of weapon spells that she knows. How ever because you are old enough to make this choice on your own I will not stand in your way.”
“GREAT!” exclaimed the young Princess as she jumped up and down “Then it is settled she stays! and will become my teacher and perhaps…..my friend” Celestia announced excitedly.
As the King slowly walked by Midnight he turned to her and very grimly said to her.
“Once I have left the garden you may rise and take my daughter as your student. However if you should even so much as cut one hair from her mane I will personally escort you to the edge of the city. And banish you forthwith do you fully understand me?” He said coldly to her.
“Y...Yes your highness.” Midnight replied.
Walking away from Midnight the king wasn’t sure if what his daughter wanted was a good idea or a very bad idea. Yet he had other matters to attend to and none of them more important than checking on his pregnant wife. As for Celestia she was just very happy to get a new teacher and perhaps a new friend as well. Midnight stayed where she was until Celestia actually had to trot up to her and ask her to stand up.
“Uh my father is gone now you can get up now silly” Celestia said with a grin.
Looking at this young filly who had just saved her from being banished for all time. The hero Midnight Sparkle couldn’t help but, feel a little embarrassed about this whole situation. She didn’t intend to get a student. Nor had she intended on making such a bad impression on the king. Not with needing to ask for help from him to locate a special item that could end the conflict with the dragons once and for all. Now seeing that Celestia was going to be her student and there was little that Midnight could actually do about it she thought to herself.
“Okay she is a princess and she wants to learn about sword magic and the like thereof. Therefor she is going to need some well rounded ground rules before I can teach her anything.” Midnight thought to herself not noticing that Celestia was right next to her. About to use her magic to draw out her sword and actually start playing with it.
As Midnight heard the sliding of metal on metal she looked down to her horror. She saw that the young princess had actually managed to withdraw her sword. And started to swing it around as if were a toy to be played with. That was it! This was the last straw! Midnight was now fully determined to give this young filly princess or no a good tongue thrashing. The very likes of which would either get her banished for sure. Or would leave the princess a crying quivering wreck for the rest of her life. Just as she was about to open her mouth to say something to Princess Celestia she stopped. Midnight just stared at her with her mouth gaping fully open in pure shock. The princess had actually managed to fully change the color of her sword! What was once a brilliantly beautiful and gorgeous sky blue blade was now fully turned into….gold.
"I can't believe she was able to actually change my sword to well sun energy" Thought midnight as she stood there dumbstruck at what she had just seen.
Midnight Sparkle was completely and utterly shocked at seeing that her sword was not only completely turned to gold. But, the cutie mark on the pommel was also changed too. Trying very desperately to compose herself before she wound up saying something that would for sure get her in worse trouble than what she already was in with the king. She very quickly used her own magic to claim her sword out of the magic held by the princess and resheath the weapon back at her side. The young filly looked up at her with confusion on her soft white snow face. Midnight trotted up to Celestia placing a hoof around her and pulling her into a hug. Then very gently asked her in as a most loving, soothing voice as she could fully muster. All the while reminding herself not yell at the princess for what she had done either to her sword or for taking it without permission.
“Little one can you actually tell me how you managed to change my sword from the sky blue color that it was to gold? Or how you were able to change the cutie mark on the pommel of the sword.?”
Celestia was now more than a little confused by this statement and wanted to know what she had actually done.
“What do you mean ‘how was I able to change’ the sword from sky blue to gold? I have always been able to do it. No one taught me that magic it just comes naturally to me.” Celestia answered as she was now squirming to get away from the embracing hug from her teacher.
Midnight almost balked at that reply. No pony fully grown or at the tender age of ten moons has ever been able to do that without being taught from somepony else. Not even the legendary star swirl the bearded was able to do it without being taught first from somepony else who’s name was lost to the myst of time. She let go of her squirming charge and levitated her sword back out of its sheath to look at it further. Upon closer inspection she could see that it was starting to turn back to it normal sky blue color and the cutie mark was also returning to normal. Even though this type of magic seemed to at least to Midnight that is to be limited and very sparse that really didn’t explain why the Princess was able to actually do it in the first place. Midnight looked at her sword then back at the Princess who was waiting for her to say something about this whole affair. Midnight said nothing though which in turn got Celestia thinking she was in trouble for this. She started to shake and Midnight took notice of this. Not wanting another crying fit on her hooves she immediately sheathed her sword and asked if the Princess was alright.
“Are you alright little one you are not going to start wailing like a little filling again are you?” Asked Midnight as she looked harshly at the young Princess.
Trying to muster as much courage as she could Princess Celestia looked at her with eyes that were clearly starting to fill with tears yet she was holding them back. Celestia said to Midnight trying to fight off the upcoming tears as best as she could.
“I’ll be okay I just wanted to see your sword and see how it worked I didn’t mean to break it or damage it. Oh please don’t be mad with me I promise I won’t tell my father and mother about this.” She said as she tried to hide her tears that were now flowing freely down her snow white cheeks.
Midnight looked at her then put a hoof to her chin and tapped it gently against her chin all the while saying to the Princess.
“Well if you are sure you don’t want to tell your father about this I suppose I could start teaching you first thing in the morning. But, you have to absolutely swear to me that you will NEVER take my sword again without asking me first okay?” Midnight spoke to Celestia with a passion that quickly quelled the young fillies tears and brought up a sense of calm and greatness within her.
The two of them soon left the Royal Garden and from there headed to Princess Celestia’s bed chamber so that she could get some well needed shut eye. Entering the bed chamber Midnight looked around seeing that the chamber was filled with all sorts of things a filly of ten moons could want she whistled in spite of herself. This caused Celestia to turn and look up to her with bewilderment in her eyes. Seeing the look on Celestia’s face Midnight quickly stepped up and said to her while trying not to look embarrassed.
“Uh I have never seen such a room like this one before not even when I was a filly growing up in my little village. I would never have seen something as grand as this uh room.”
“It’s just my bedroom I don’t see why you would think anything special of it.” Celestia said as she troted up to her bed and knelt in front of it to say her prayers before going to sleep.
Midnight looked at her young charge and half smiled when she said pointing to some of the items in the room.
“Little one I come from a village far to north of here there we have no items such as this oak dresser or that night table made out sapphire and jade stone.”
Midnight said pointing to a dresser that was standing next to the bed. The dresser was made entirely out of oak and had six large drawers built into it with six large silver handles. She then pointed to the nightstand that was sitting on the right of Celestia’s bed it was stand made out of jade and sapphire stone. The stand itself stood about four feet tall and was about five feet wide on the stand where photos of the king and queen and a few of their daughter as well. Celestia just stuck out her tongue playfully at Midnight who was not impressed by the young princess’s antics. Midnight trotted up to her and helped the Princess into bed once her prayers were done. Celestia scooted underneath the covers of her bed and let out a yawn then slowly fell asleep.
The birds were chirping and singing their merry songs and the sun was just coming into view all in all it looked as if it was going to be a nice day. Celestia was just getting up when she heard a hoof knock at her door. quirking an eyebrow at the noise that just came from her door she called out.
“Who is it?”
“It’s Midnight I am here start your training Princess.” The voice called back.
Celestia looked out her window seeing that the sun was just barley up she got a little grumpy with just having learned her training was going to start so early.
“Why in all the great pony kingdom would I start training now?”
“I heard that! Look if you want to become as good if not better than me than get off your flank open this door and lets start. Otherwise stay in your room and pout for all pony sake.” Midnight snapped out.
Celestia raised both eyebrows at this but did as she was asked. She used her magic to gently open her bedroom door and allowed the rather annoyed Midnight Sparkle into her bed chamber. As Midnight entered the chamber Celestia saw a look of utter annoyance etched onto the face of her teacher. Midnight looked at her for what seemed like hours but in actuality it was only a few minutes. Before she sat on her haunches and spoke with a deadpan tone that clearly got the message across to the Princess.
“I do not have time to waste on a little brat like yourself that is too involved in her own pony self to waste teaching her sword magic. If you really are dead set on learning all that know and all that I am able to teach you. Then you will meet me down in front of the castle in thirty minutes. Otherwise you may stay here and sulk but I have had more important things that needed to be taken care of than dealing with a spoiled filly such as you. So get off your hay flank and do as you're told. You may start by coming to realize that you're training for now on WILL be at sunrise every day. If you are not eating or sleeping then you are out front of the castle with me training and I will push you beyond your limits. Do you fully understand me filly?
Princess Celestia swallowed hard when she saw the anger in her teacher's eyes. She could only nod and watched Midnight Sparkle rise up and trot towards the door of her bed chamber. As Midnight cross the threshold of the door she stopped and turned around saying just as coldly and just as harshly to her young student.
“Oh one more thing from this pony day forth you will for now on adress me as either master or teacher. Anything else other than that and I will end your lessons then and there.
Before Celestia could answer Midnight she was out of the room and headed down to the front of the castle. Celestia realized that in order to actually be taught any type of magic concerning the sword and the various principles thereof she would have to do as she was told. So with as much dignity as she could muster and fully composing herself she trotted out of her bed chamber and headed to the front of the castle. It didn’t take her long to find her teacher who was talking with one of the many guards. From the look on Midnights face Celestia could see that her teacher was not happy at all. Trotting up to her she was just barely able to hear their conversation.
“I am going to train the Princess.”
“What do you mean you are going to ‘train the Princess’? No pony in allowed to do that.”
“I am and I WILL train her if you or your fellow guards get involved it will end….badly”
“How DARE you speak to me like that!”
“One would think that I wouldn’t have to seeing as I am Midnight Sparkle. And I am ordering you to step aside or draw your spear and see who is better at weapons combat.”
The guard looked like he had just been hit in the stomach with a large rock when he heard who he was talking to. Fully stammering on his words he tried in vain to make an apology to her yet, it failed to have the effect that he wanted it to have.
“M..M..Midnight...S..S..Sparkle….Y...you..can’t...I...am..so..s...so….sorry...for..my behavior….please, yes ….train the princess.” The guard stammered as he tried to find a way out of this hopefully with his head still on his shoulders.
Midnight just half smiled at him and took a tentative step towards him all while her eyes and horn were starting to glow a deep purple and blue. She started to unsheathe her sword and looking at the guard she only said one word to him.
“BOO!” Midnight said with a wicked grin on her face.
The guard turned as white as snow tucked tail between his back legs and ran from his post all the while wailing like a little filly in fright. Seeing this in full Celestia couldn’t help it she fell over legs fully kicking outwards laughing so hard that she had tears coming down her soft snow white fur. Once Midnight had realized Celestia was there she too actually started to laugh something that was very rare for her to do. The mere sight of a royal castle guard tucking tail and wailing like a filly all while running from his post was just too much for the two to not fall over laughing. Once the two of them were completely out of breath Midnight stood up and used her magic to help the Princess up. Celestia looked at her teacher then in the direction that the guard had taken before speaking.
“Shouldn’t you go after him and apologize to him for that little uh action of yours?”
Midnight said nothing to her on this matter she stepped in front of Celestia and withdrew her sword from its sheath. Seeing that it was time to train Celestia looked at her teacher then at her sword then back at her teacher asking.
“What am I supposed to use for a sword I don’t have one?”
“That is where you are so very wrong little filly and that is what we are about to find out if I am right in this matter.”
With that Midnight’s horn started to glow bright blue as her sword came crashing down toward Celestias head. Celestia’s eye grew as wide as a dinner plate at seeing the massive blade sailing towards her head. She dropped to her knees and buried her face into her hooves her horn began to glow a bright golden yellow as a sword suddenly appeared before her. With a loud clanging noise of metal hitting metal her sword actually started to fight with the other sword that was held by Midnight Sparkle. Midnight grinned at the sight of her sword and Celestia's fighting. Because it confirmed what she now knew to be true about the young Princess that lay clutching her face in her hooves before her.
“Its as I thought she has the power of the golden sun.” Thought Midnight as she battled Celestia’s sword with her own.
What Midnight did not tell Celestia is that while she slept the night before. She had gone into the royal library and found a tomb containing Celestia's family tree. Midnight only had to look at it once to fully know what the little Princess was and to fully comprehend what she was destined to do. Using her magic Midnight blocked and paired each attack with little effort. Although the other sword was fully formed it was willfully uncontrolled and therefore its attacks were easy to anticipate and thus unto counter. However Midnight could see that was something very different about this sword. Although she was fully engulfed in an all out duel with it, this sword seemed to not want to actually stay in the fight. But rather it kept backing away causing Midnight to have to either bring her own sword in closer for her attacks to succeed. Or for her herselt to have to get up next to the blade either way it was time to end this duel and help the young Princess up.
“ENOUGH!” Cried out Midnight.
With one final swing of her blade she hit the other sword with hers causing it to fall to the ground and fully embedded into the soft dirt beneath her hooves. No matter how many times the golden sword vibrated or moved it was unable to come back out of the dirt. Having fully buried the sword up to the pommel Midnight smiled to herself and trotted over to the still shaking and very scared Princess. Seeing that this young filly was still very afraid to move she narrowed her eyes and barked out loudly at her.
“GET UP! YOU ARE A PRINCESS AND A WIELDER OF SUN MAGIC SO GET UP NOW!”
Hearing this the young Princess immediately got up and wiped away her tears sniffing she looked up at her teacher then lowered her head before whispering out.
“Why did you attack me?” The princess said as she stood there still trying to wipe away her tears from her eyes.
Midnight looked at her grimly then troted over to where Celestia’s sword was still embedded into the dirt. Looking back her young student she motioned her to stand next to her. Pointing a hoof at the sword's pommel she said to her with a sternness in her voice that made Celestia all the more nervous to be next to her teacher.
“Take a good long hard look at that sword and tell me what you see of it. Then and only then will I tell you why I attacked you.”
Celestia looked at the pommel and then looked at her teacher who was clearly not in the mood for games. Before Celestia could say anything Midnight’s horn glowed blue and Celestia looked away in fright. Midnight used her magic once more but this time she lifted up Celestia's golden sword and held it up so that her student could get a better look at it. Saying to her while unceremoniously dropping the blade at Celestia's hooves. The blade clattered loudly on the soft earth beneath Celestia's hooves.
“Look at it! See the blade for what it is and what it is not!”
Celestia looked at the sword and saw that it wasn’t actually made out of gold at all. Rather it was made out of energy! A small smile etched it’s way across her face when she realized what that energy actually was. She looked at her teacher and said smiling to her.
“My sword isn’t made out of gold at all.”
Midnight just narrowed her eyes and glared at her student before speaking to her roughly.
“Then what pray pony tell is it made out of then!?”
Celestia’s eyes sparkled with delight as the words came to her and left her lips.
“Sun...it is made out of sun energy” She said almost jumping up and down.
“Good to know that you are able to tell what sun energy is. Now as for the reason I attacked you and caused you to be afraid of me. I did it so that it would force you to use your magic to form that very blade that now is yours and yours alone. No other pony may use it or even attempt to control it. However I want you to understand this perfectly and that is this. Just because you are able to call forth that blade and you are able to take control of somepony else's sword doesn’t mean you have to will power to control either swords. While the duel I had with your sword was a good duel unto itself you NEED to learn control over your own fears and that is something I should be able to teach you.”
Celestia seemed to fully understand what her teacher was saying to her before she looked back at her sword. Then asked her teacher.
“When I am as good as you in sword magic do you think I might be able to join you on some pony quest? Perhaps maybe even become a legend like you some day?”
“Let's work on your teachings for the moment at hoof and then when you are ready we will work on getting you ready for a quest.” Midnight replied with an even tone in her voice.
Midnight turned and started to trot away from her student before looking back and motioned for Celestia to follow her. It would be many months before the young Princess was actually ready to go on a quest with her teacher and many more before she could actually control the sword itself. Midnight escorted Celestia back into the castle where her father and mother were waiting for them in the throne room. Both of them looked very pleased and her mother also looked very tired too. Midnight looked at the king then at the queen before bowing and finally asking what she had come here to ask of the royal family.
“Your majesty's I am very pleased to report to you both that Princess Celestia is able to call forth the sun energy. Thus unto she was able to actually form that energy into a sword which is now hers to do with as she sees fit. However I did not actually come here to train somepony let alone the princess her pony self. I actually came here to ask for help. Although I am very good with sword magic as you both well know. I must request that I be allowed to take no less than twenty royal guards with me to look for the dragon ring and thus give it to the king of the dragons. If we should fail in this quest it would mean another war and more blood shall be spilt. Unlike most ponies that are within this castle that have been trained to be your royal guards I was trained for war and nothing else. That has well left me with out much to look forwards too. So I very humbly beg you for your support in averting another war that could cost hundreds of pony lives and many more lives if the war was to be dragged on.”
The king looked to his wife then to his daughter and finally at Midnight before saying to her.
“You may have your twenty guards go now and find this ring end this madness before it starts another war. I can see in your blue sapphire eyes that you are indeed the pony to carry this mission out. Take whatever you need and hurry I do not want to have to go to war with the king of the dragons over some silly ring. Find it and give it to him in order to end this conflict once and for all. When you come back though I ask that you continue Celestia's training. However before you leave this throne room. I request to see my daughters sword so that I may judge for pony self if she is ready for such a weapon.”
Midnight bowed deeply to the king and Queen then looked over to Celestia who was standing just behind her and gave her a soft nod. Celestia stepped forward and with her horn glowing withdrew her sword then floated it up to her father and let it fall to his hooves. The sword clanging against the marble floor of the throne room shined with a brilliance that was only matched by the color of the sun itself. The king used his own magic to lift the blade however the blade would not budge the king raised an eyebrow at this. He knew what this meant and didn’t like it at all. Looking at Midnight he said to her calmly.
“Midnight Sparkle did you cast a spell on this sword so that only my daughter can lift it or even wield it?”
Midnight shook her head and halfway smiled she turned to Celestia and nodded to the young Princess. Celestia took this ample opportunity to use her magic again this time causing the sword to glow with a fiery yellow. The king looked at the sword then at his daughter in shock he now fully begin to understand what his daughter was meant to do with her life and how this sword would play into that life. Seeing the expression on her father's face Celestia lost her concentration of her magic and dropped the sword once again at the kings hooves. The Queen just smiled and laid a gentle hoof over her belly rubbing it tenderly saying softly to her pony self.
“Little one your big sister is destined to do great and many wonderful things be proud of her.”
Midnight just grinned at the sight that was befalling her eyes. The king bringing his front hooves together in a loud clapping noise raised his voice and order a scribe to come forth. The young scribe walked slowly into the room and looked at his king the king nodded and order him to take a royal memo.
“Scribe write down what I your king am about to say.”
“Yes your majesty.”
“I king Diamond heart here by do fully decree! That no less than twenty royal guards are to fully accompany and take orders from Midnight Sparkle as the captain of the royal guard. Furthermore I also state her orders are to be fully adhered to until the dragon king crisis is fully taken care of. Or until she is no longer fit to be captain of the royal guard.”
With that the King looked at Midnight then took out from his throne a royal seal. Stamping it to the end of the scroll he used his magic to levitate it over to Midnight. She also took out her own family seal and stamped it to the letter then using her magic levitated it over to the scribe and nodded to him. The scribe took the parchment and trotted out of the throne room. Unbeknownst to the King, Queen, or Celestia the scribe was no scribe he was in fact a changeling. He had been sent there months before Midnight had shown up to gather intel on the royal family. There were others like him doing the same thing.
The guards that were going to be assigned to Midnight were all of them changelings. No pony even remotely suspected the deception and to most ponies living in Canterlot such a creature couldn’t exist. They were the stuff of myth and legend nothing further and nothing less. Reduced to a mere bedtime story to frighten little foals and fillies into obeying their parents. The scribe took the parchment down a long hallway and worked his way to the guard quarters on the left side of the castle. Getting to the door he gave the secret knock and the door opened. He grinned with a wicked look and gleam in his eye as he held in his fake hooves the parchment for the royal guard that was secretly a changeling himself to take. The other changeling looked at him with as much of a evil gleam in his own eyes and said.
“You know what to do so make it happen we have all that we need now. All we need is to copy the royal seal of that brat and the trap will be all set. With Midnight out of the way it won’t take long for our Queen to take over. Although I sure she will still bide her time which will give us more time to get things ready for her arrival. Now go!”
The door was slammed shut and the changeling went about coping the royal seals to a new piece of parchment one that would be used entirely in this evil plot. Once the work was done he looked at his brothers all of whom were fully disguised as royal guards and nodded to them. The time had come to get Midnight Sparkle out of the way. No pony or changeling could have guessed at the utter Tartus that they were about to unless upon Equestria. As Midnight made her way to the courtyard to inspect the guards that she was about to take on this mission she thought to her pony self.
“I hope we can end this conflict with the dragons soon ALTHOUGH I am very good with the sword one single blade won’t win the day if war is to break out.” She entered the courtyard seeing all twenty guards standing there ready for inspection she half smiled to her pony self.
The time had come to find the dragon ring and return it to its rightful owner. Ending the conflict with the dragons and with all ponykind once and for all. Midnight wasted little time in looking over each of the twenty guards that were assigned to her. She took a her place at the head of the line of the guards. And started to march out of the castle towards her home and the place where she would start her search for the dragon ring. Stopping at the guard houses that aligned the front of the castle. Midnight used her magic and levitated the parchment that the king had signed over to the guard closest to her. Upon reading it he gave her a sault and then lifted the gates so that she and the others could continue on their journey. It would take them two full months to get to her home and back again all of which time she had made it plan to Celestia that she was to practice her magic until her return. Celestia had wanted to come with her yet Midnight forbade this. Celestia wasn’t ready for such a quest and it would do her no good to jump right into something that she clearly wasn’t ready for.
Midnight looked up at one of the many towers overlooking the castle. Seeing that the young princess was up in her room she smiled and continued to march her troops towards her home. The dragon ring had been forged by her fellow ponies and she knew which one to ask to start the search for it. Upon getting to her village Midnight looked at her fellow guards then walked up to the gate that barred entry into her home. Slamming her hoof into the gate loudly to wake up the sleeping guard she was greeted by an old friend. The pony that came to the gateway was her dear friend Honey Bloom she was a older pony with long grey locks and silver colored fur her cutie mark was a bee with a flower under it. When she took stock of who was making all the racket at the gateway she plastered a big smile on her face at the sight of her friend. Seeing that Midnight wasn’t alone she very quickly looked over the others that were with her before asking.
“Midnight my good friend it is so good too see you, but uh er what is with the royal guards is there some pony here that you have to come arrest?” Asked Honey Bloom
“No it is nothing like that I assure you on this matter they are here with me to help look for the dragon ring so that it might be returned to its rightful owner.” Shaking her head Midnight replied to Honey Bloom.
“I see very well. I know you well enough to know that you are not one to lie about your intentions on being here. So if you give me some pony minutes I can open the gate for you all.” Honey Bloom said as she started to fuget with a set of silver keys that she had around her neck.
“Here let me” Midnight said as her horn glowed and she lifted the keys up and into the lock then opened the gateway. Stepping through the gateway Midnight took in all the familiar sounds and smells of her home village. She looked at Honey Bloom and asked her gently.
“Where are my mother, father, brother and sister at I would like to visit them before I need to leave again and I do not know when if at all I will be back?”
Honey Bloom placed a hoof to her chin and thought for a few seconds while she tapped her chin before actually answering her friends question.
“Let's see ah yes you’re family should I believe be in the main library house looking over tombs and other stuff of the like thereof. I believe your sister is getting ready to take some sort of test for school. While your brother is getting ready to entire the royal guard academy next year. You know he looks up to you in fact both of your siblings do dear you really need to put a stop to all this adventuring and come home to be with them. It isn’t right that they should not know you as much as they know of your great acts and deeds.” Honey Bloom said softly to Midnight as she continued to tap her hoof against her chin.
“I know Honey Bloom, Yet there is just so much to do out there in the wide world of Equestria. That I simply can’t come home for good at least not right now anyways. Maybe a visit like I am now, every now then; maybe but, not for good.” Midnight stated as she lowered her head a deep sadness in her tone.
“Listen honey you missed the birth of BOTH your brother and sister. When you left here it wasn’t really on the best terms with your mother and father. They both love you very much as do your brother and sister. Yet you don’t really know them all that well. The three of you are like strangers to each other don’t think that just because I am old. That these old soft eyes having seen so much in this world that we all call home. Haven’t seen the pain and hurt in your family at not having you here deary. It is the same pain that I see in your face now. I think you need to come to see that and once you do you’ll be better for it. Now go on, go be with your family. I will look after the royal guards and help them look for the item in question. Besides we both know whom to ask no reason for you to be there for it now get going.” Honey Bloom said as she waved a hoof at Midnight shooing her in the direction of the main library where should could find her family.
Midnight smiled warmly this was something that only her good friend or family have ever once seen her do. She didn’t smile all that often outside of her village and she didn’t show a softer side from her war torn exterior. She was a pony of very extraordinary feats she couldn’t afford to show a softer side to her pony self. Not with the threat of a new war ever contest on the horizon. No she had to remain deadpan and dead to the world of emotions. Less it would swallow her whole and never let her go. Emotions had been the reason she lost so many good friends in battle. Now she was home and had a chance to show some of her emotions. Many, many times she had wanted to show a more softer side to either those that she commanded in battle. Or those that she fought besides in the many battles that she had fought in. Having lived through so many battles and having lost so many good friends from those battles. She was left almost broken and dead to her emotions. Beining home and taking in all the very familiar sounds and smells helped her let her softer side show if it weren’t for but a few minutes in any case. She nodded towards Honey Bloom then started up the path that lead to the library.
The sound sounds of her village and her home where calming very relaxing to her war torn soul. There were the sounds of the birds chirping softly in the trees that dotted the walkways and path ways. The sound of the running streams and brooks that out lined her village also came in as a soft reminder as to how peaceful her village was. Ponies everywhere were laughing and playing some had pipes that made the most angelic music anypony had ever heard of. While other ponies laughed at the jokes and stories that either were told at campfires or simply told because they were funny. All in all it felt like….home. Midnight continued to walk up the dirt path her hooves never missing a beat. She walked until she came to a large red and brown brick building that had a big sign out front of it.
The library sign read “open” seeing that it was indeed open Midnight trotted up to the door using her magic she opened it and trotted inside the building. One of the changeling guards had noticed her go inside the building and knew that now would be the time to spring their trap. He ran off to find the rest of his campaigns finding his campaigns at a nearby house talking with the occupant that own the house he ran up to his fellow changeling and simply state almost out of breath.
“It's time” He said whizzing trying to catch his breath for what was about to come.
The other changeling just looked at him and smiled then turned to the others and shouted only three words.
“TAKE THIS VILLAGE!” with that he withdrew his sword and plunged it into the chest of the pony he had just moments ago been talking to.
The pony looked down as blood splattered across the face of the one that just impaled him with a sword. Spitting up blood as she fell to the ground dead. The other guards quickly followed suit and started hacking and slashing at the other villagers. Honey Bloom seeing what was happening quickly raised to the library. However before she was able to get there, a sharp pain in her spine sent her crashing to the ground. She had been completely impaled from the back through her stomach. Screaming out in pain as she tried desperately to crawl her way to the library to warn Midnight of the guards treachery. Other ponies had been running in fear and screaming yet they too were just as easily cut down but the changelings. There screams and blood soaked cries for help or mercy reached the library where Midnight was in looking over some papers that her sister had shown her. As she suddenly look up with a look of terror on her face. She had heard cries like that before but, had hoped to never hear them from her village. She looked at her sister and said to her firmly.
“STAY HERE!”
Before she could reach the door a young filly ran inside in the hopes of getting away from the guard that was chasing her. It proved useless however the changeling was on her in a second and slit her throat with one single action from his sword. Picking up her body and throwing it at Midnight causing her to fall back and hit her head against a nearby shelf she was completely knocked out. Her sister ran to her only to be stopped by the changeling as his sword crashed through her back and out her chest. Spitting up blood as she died on his sword. The creature then began to look around for the rest of the family members that had been ordered to kill. Finding each of them with ease he slew them in turn as each tried to protect the other only to fail and become yet another victim of this attack. Midnight woke up eight hours later. Her head spinning and her body wracked with pain from having hit the book shelf that she had landed against. As she slowly came too she looked around her armour completely caked in dried blood. She looked down and saw the lifeless body of the little fillie that earlier had run into the library to get away from the guard that had been chancing her.
Her eyes shot wide as she scrambled to her hooves the blow to her head left her unable to fully stand on all four hooves. So she knelt in the blood soaked floor for what seemed like hours but was only a few minutes while she regained her strength. Looking around she could see that the library was a complete mess. Book shelves toppled over and broken chairs and desks lay strewn all over the place. She slowly began to wobble over to the door which was itself broken in two. There was no need to use her magic to open it. The door itself was completely broken in half. Pushing up against the broken door she was able to get it to open and stepping outside she saw to her absolute horror what was left of her village.
The entire village was aflame every building was either engulfed completely in flames or was smoldering as they came crashing down. Her fellow ponies all lay strewn throughout the walkways. Falling to her lower hooves she cried not knowing what to make of this attack that befell her peaceful pony family and friends. Regaining her self she slowly stood up and started to look for her mother, father, brother and sister. She had found Honey Bloom and cradled her in her hooves while letting her tears fall freely. As she held Honey Bloom she looked up and finally saw her family. Each of them had been decapitated and their heads placed on four foot high pikes. Looks of pain and horror forever strewn across their faces. She slowly laid Honey Bloom down and walked over to her family. As she approached the lifeless headless corpses of her family she felt her right hoof hit something that felt like rolled up parchment. Looking down she used her magic to bring up what it was that she had just hit with her hoof. Seeing it was parchment she slowly unrolled it. Seeing on the parchment were the royal seals of all three current royal family members.
There was no mistaking the cutie marks of king Diamond heart, Queen Fire flower or Princess Celestia. It was seeing this that caused Midnight to let loose into her hate and her anger. It wasn’t enough that her family had been slaughtered by the royal guards and it wasn’t enough that her village once peaceful was raised to the ground. It wasn’t enough to learn that all that she loved was now gone forever no it was seeing that the royal family had something to do this. That was enough for her to let loose upon Equestria and to give into her hate and anger. She fell to her knees and let out one loud final cry of anger and hate that was said of have shook the very heaven with fear.
Her body erupted in full purple and blue flames as she screamed to the heavens. Her village gone, her family slaughtered her kin dead. There was nothing left to her now other than vengeance and it would be a bloody vengeance that she would have. No pony foal or filly alike there of would ever be safe from her if she couldn’t have her family and be happy then NO pony would. It was long since said that on that day when Midnight Sparkle became the living embodiment of vengeance she fully gave her pony self over to all the creatures in Tartarus. That she had fully allowed them to fill her with their power and in return for this she would destroy all of Equestria. It took her two months get back to the castle at this time Luna had already been born. Midnight’s armour was still heavily caked in blood she never bothered to wash it off nor did she want to. She wanted to remember fully what happened at her village and how she would kill the royal family for their betrayal to her. She had spent the last two months feeding her hate and anger letting it eat away at her until now there was nothing left.
Where there was once two very beautiful sapphire eyes with purple irises that had seen much in the world. Now there were two eyes of pure crimson rage. Where there was once a horn of majestic beauty there was now a horn of blue crystal that glowed every brightly with hate. Where there was once a cutie mark of a half moon and snowflake there was now a purple star pulsing with anger and madness. She slowly walked up to the guard houses and smiled wickedly as she cast a beam of hot lot towards the guard houses. The beam of light connected with the houses and a loud explosion was echoed throughout the castle. Princess Celestia was the first one to the gate when she saw that Midnight Sparkle was standing in the wreckage of the houses. To her horror she watched as the Midnight used her magic to lift one of the guards up and impale him on her sword. Celestia’s color drained out of her faster than running water down a torrent of rocks. She ran towards Midnight towards her teacher and her friend only to be stopped at mid stride when Midnight used her magic to lift her up off the ground.
Laughing while she hosted the young Princess off the ground she said to her.
“You and your pony tales family are going to pay with your LIVES!”
with that she jutted her head towards the main gateway causing Celestia to crash through the doorway. Celestia hit the door smashed through it and rolled unconsciously to the side of the thrown room. Midnight walked into the castle where she was greeted by thirty guards. All of these guards that now stood between her and the king and queen would soon taste her naked blade on their throats. She smiled at them laughing coldly saying as she drew her sword out.
“Oh please boys you won’t even be a challenge for me, COME ON TASTE MY STEEL!”
She lunged forward and with as much easy as one would expect from a master of sword combat killed all the guards within a matter of minutes. As the last one feel to her hooves from her blade slicing his throat she turned her attention to the on coming king. Who like Midnight had drawn a sword and came charging in after her she simply side stepped the King. With one single fluent motion of her sword brought it crashing into his back completely impaling him up to the hilt of her sword. Still laughing she walked down towards the direction of the princess’s bed chamber. She had a feeling that the Queen would be there huddled over her new baby trying to protect the little filly from Midnights wrath. She was right as she opened the door to the bed chamber she saw that the Queen was indeed huddled over her newborn little filly. The Queen looked up in terror and began to beg for the life of offspring and her own life.
“PLEASE Midnight I beg you don’t do this, MY little ones need me, I beg you don’t make this worse than what it already is. My family doesn’t deserve this.” The Queen begged and pleaded with Midnight.
“YOUR FAMILY DOESN’T DESERVE THIS! YOUR FAMILY! WHAT ABOUT MY FAMILY? WHAT ABOUT MY SISTER WHO DREAMED OF GOING TO SCHOOL? OR MY BROTHER WHO WANTED NOTHING MORE THAN TO JOIN THE ROYAL GUARDS? WHAT ABOUT MY FATHER AND MOTHER! YOU AND THAT PONY TAILS HUSBAND OF YOU’RES ORDERED THEIR DEATHS! NOW YOU WILL DIE FOR THIS.” Midnight raised her sword with the fullest intention of driving it through the Queen's heart and watching the life drain out of her victims eyes.
Maybe it was fate or it could have been magic either way Midnight failed to see the sole creature coming up behind her with her own sword drawn and ready for battle. Before Midnight could thrust her sword into the Queen however she felt pain etch into her back as she started to stumble forwards. Celestia hand impaled Midnight with her sword through the back and out through her chest. Midnight stumbled and fell back into Celestia's hooves who was now sobbing uncontrollably. As Midnight fell into Celestia's hooves she spat out blood and started to cough. Saying while spitting up more blood lying in Celestia's hooves.
“no..ven... gea..nce...I will...have...my vengeance.”
“WHY MIDNIGHT? WHY? I LOVED YOU LIKE A SISTER! WHY DID YOU DO THIS?” Celestia wailed out crying as she pulled the sword out of her teachers back causing her teacher to spit up more blood.
Midnight’s eyes glazed over as death slowly took her. Celestia grew angry and with one single motion cut Midnight’s head from her shoulders. Before her mother could stop her Celestia cast her horn to red and opened a portal to Tartarus sending the lifeless corpse of her once dear friend into the portal and slamming it shut. Falling to her knees Celestia began to sob. She had seen the lifeless body of her father and the bodies of all the guards that Midnight had killed. The sight of which was too much for her to hold back her tears. Now as her mother walked over to her to pull her into a tight embrace Celestia saw the parchment that Midnight had dropped before she was killed.
As Celestia used her magic to open it she saw what had caused all of this and couldn’t contain her anger any longer. Lowering her head and letting her horn glow a deep violet she summoned forth a demon from Tartarus. Saying nothing to Celestia the demon raised his hands and Midnight appeared next to him still headless. Snapping his fingers her body was engulfed in blue and purple flames until it was nothing more than ash. Looking back at Celestia before leaving to return to Tartarus the demon spoke to her in a cold icy voice.
“You realize that your friend is now one of us and that as such she is forever a demon. She died with vengeance on her lips. Because of this she is now and forever more the demon embodiment of vengeance. Whenever somepony wants to take revenge on somepony else she will be there in spirit guiding them. This is what you have caused to happen and this is what you must now live with. Someday many moons from now she will fully return and you will have to make your choice. Let her live and watch as your world burns or send her back to Tartarus. Oh before I go, you should know that there is one that is yet to be born on the path to darkness. That one pony or spirit will become the vessel that will carry her vengeful soul in it forever.” The demon laughed at this last part then disappeared.
Celestia's mother pulled the little Princess into a full embrace and hugged her offspring tightly. She knew full well what this would mean for her daughter and now for Equestria.
“My mother held me in her hooves for what seemed like hours while I cried my heart out.” Princess Celestia said to Twilight as she looked at her with sad eyes.
“What was it on the parchment that Midnight found that actually caused her to go all nuts on you like that Princess?” Twilight asked as she saw her mentor still crying from the hurt and pain that Midnight had caused her so many moons ago.
“After Midnight had killed my father I vowed to become a good Princess and a even better sword magic wielder. But to this very moon and sun I have long since kept that parchment I will let you and no other pony read it.” Princess Celestia said as she slowly rose to her hooves and walked further down the hallway.
Celestia came to a large door at the end of the hallway it was a designed to look more beautiful and splendorous than most of the hallway was. In the center of the door was a small hole just big enough for her horn to fit. She stepped up the door and placing her horn just inside of it the door suddenly came to life and opened for her. walking inside this new room there wasn’t much inside but a old dusty pedestal with a small rolled up parchment scroll sitting on top. The only light that was in this room came from four torches that were light and burning brightly. Using her magic Celestia floated the parchment over to Twilight and slowly opened it for her so that she could fully see what was on the parchment. The parchment read.
“The town of Dual feather has sided with the dragon king and thus therefor is our enemies. You as the royal guard must destroy the town and all ponies within its borders. Furthermore any pony guard that refuses to destroy the town will be hanged until dead.”
Princess Twilight couldn’t believe what her eyes were seeing. When she looked down there was no mistaking it her mentors cutie mark was there at the bottom of the parchment. She lowered her head and softly said to Princess Celestia.
“I can fully understand that after all she had lost that seeing this would push her over the edge. Did you ever get a answer from her before you cut her head off as to why she did what did?”
“No, Twilight my faithful student I never did.”
“I need to know when Sunset Shimmer became that, demon back during the Fall Formal was that also because of Midnight?”
“No that demon version of my former pupil was not the result of Midnight that was the actual demon that I had summoned when I sent Midnight's body into Tartarus.”
“I see is there anything we can do to change that worlds Twilight back I mean anything at all that is?”
“I don’t know I will go with you but you need to fully understand this. IF and only IF Midnight has fully taken over your friend and there is absolutely no way to save her. I will have no choice other than to kill them both do you fully understand?”
“Yes Princess I fully understand I really do hope it doesn’t come to that though”
“I know that you and her are friends but I can not and will not allow Midnight to return to this world. All the power that she has no doubtedly collected over the many moons and suns that she has been trapped in Tartarus has no doubt given her even more powers.”
“You mean like when she tried take over that worlds Twilight at the Friendship Games from the last ten moons ago?”
“Yes my student, The only reason Sunset was able to beat Midnight is because Twilight didn’t want revenge and she hadn’t fully given into her darkness.”
“I see so if she gives in what then?”
“Then it will be too late for her my student I need you to fully understand. I will do what is needed to save both our homes from Midnights evil.”
“Very well Princess I really hope we can stop her before you have to take that action I may understand your reasons for this but I am afraid the others won’t.”
“It doesn’t matter weather they understand my reasons for this or not, Midnight is pure absolute evil now I know she use to be good but all that is gone. There is no bringing her back from this. Not after i beheaded her and tossed her body to the demons of Tartarus. Not after she thinks that I or my family had something to do with her family being slaughtered. True I may know now that my family didn’t do this but that isn’t going to matter to Midnight in her mind and soul I betrayed her along with my family we all betrayed her.”
“Then we need to go to her and straighten her out before lives are lost due to her need and quest for revenge.”
“Before we leave there is something that I will need to bring with us.”
“Your armor and your sword right Princess I mean you can’t go into battle against your former teacher and friend without those items I mean.”
Celestia smiled warmly to Twilight before tilting her head back and shouting out in the Canterlot voice for her sword and armor to appear before her.
“COME TO ME AMOR OF SUN’S LIGHT, COME TO ME SWORD OF SUN’S RAY’S I NEED YOU NOW TO FIGHT THIS EVIL TONIGHT!”
The last word that Celestia spoke echoed loudly throughout the castle and her body glowed with a brilliance that was only matched by her pure beauty. Thoroughly dawning her golden armour and her sword she looked at Twilight and gently said.
“It is time for us to go young one write your friends and tell them that we are on the way.”
“Yes your majesty.” Twilight said as she readied a quill and ink bottle to begin writing to her friends that Celestia and herself were on their way to help.
They didn’t know if the human worlds Twilight was completely consumed by Midnight’s evil lust for vengeance and they didn’t know what danger further awaited them. All they did know was that Twilight needed them and so did her friends. Now more than ever the magic of friendship would be put the test. Both hoping that it would be enough to win the day. So that Celestia didn’t have to kill that worlds Twilight in order to save both worlds.
